    great video and channel mate :) just took the plunge on a GO, already own an ally and sold me steam deck once i used the ally once hahaha.
    The ally is what it says on the tin, its a gaming handheld for gamers, the audio is stunning and the VRR 120hz screen is just soooo smooooooth to use, and i do actually really like the analogue sticks, it was/is also much easier to get up and running...... it does however run hotter than hell, i fitted a heatsink to mine and now all is well but its a lil heavier.
    the GO was much harder to like, but is more versatile. its a damn good media tablet that plays games, and i love the controller options. the 144hz screen is just stunning and the extra real estate from the 16:10 aspect ratio is welcome. the speakers can be tweeked via realtek app to give decent output but not as good as ally/deck. Even though its heavier than the ally, i find them both to be uncomfortable after a long gaming session, id actually say the GO was slightly more comfortable to me even with my small hands
    I find the ally to be a much better gaming experience, but can i fuuuuuq put the GO down hahahahahahaa..... but when i do go back to the ally im like... WOW!
    the plan was to sell the unit i least like, but i like them both too much for different reasons so im keeping them for now hahahaha. which ever one people choose ya wont be disappointed, its a dead heat in a pi55ing contest!

      I went with the Steam Deck OLED after waiting two years and it is great since most of my games are playable or Steam Deck verified. Whatever it doesn't play well I can use my ASUS TUF gaming laptop. Windows is terrible for handhelds and that is where Linux and SteamOS excels.

    That last point was what sold me. It's like Lenovo engineers worked out the largest screen size it could be and still be hand held. I'm not that big of a gamer, really. Bought it as an upgrade to my laptop. It may not be the best handheld gaming experience of all of them, but Legion Go is the only one in the current crop of handhelds that can do as a highly portable tablet/laptop.

    I love my legion go, play that thing almost every day. The Ally frying micro SD cards and proprietary egpu were big drawbacks, and the Legion Go's huge screen and detachable controllers/FPS mode totally sold me. I got the 2TB model as an open box at micro center, so got it for under $700

      the frying SD cards is a total myth.
      I play games directly installed on my SD card and it's no problem at all.
      SD cards are not even made for constant transfers like this either, but it's still possible. Add a 2TB to an Ally Rog and there's nothing you can't do. Legion stutters and has lag where the Rog just has consistency.
      You might still be able to refund your Go if you want the true handheld experience :)

It's all about what you prefer and what you like. Each has their own quirks. So, quit bashing the other and just pick one and decide for yourself. Don't listen to this guy's and other reviewers. I can relate to this scenario. I bought the deck in june of 2023, i was excited to get into the handheld wagon.
    The deck is slow. If you're a fella that has 400inde games on steam this is the device for you. AAA games flat outright are NOT playable.
    I tried installing windows on it. Both sd card and the ssd. Both experiences took more than a id expected and was not fun. Windows dedicated is the way to go. I played maybe 60hours on the deck and sold it, luckly in time before the OLED version came out.
    Ally looked great and i enjoyed holding it. But it does feel like a toy... But in a good way.
    The legion is a spaceship and look really higher end. Might pull the trigger on this one too just because it does do more than just GAME.

    Thank you for the video it was informative for the generic consumer. However it would be more appreciated if you reduce the volume of the background music, it is almost as loud as your voice which can be distracting but in addition to the noise the mic picks up it becomes an unpleasant experience and honestly after 7 minutes it became difficult to push till the end, I guess at least the volume compression on the two devices was a needed break.
    No I don't mind the mic not having a crisp and clean recording I just honestly feel it'll be a better experience if the background music was lower, I know lots of small channels struggle with the balance too. These are just my thoughts do with that information what you will and best of luck.

    I've got both also but Ally was my 1st :) I didn't decided yet, I 100% agree with you. When I'm playing on Lenovo as handheld, after a while I'm always thinking about Ally how comfortable it is :) Then after play session my mind tells me that Lenovo's got more options, bigger screen, perfect scaling in 800p etc. The cherry on top is 2x USB4 in Legion Go for use with eGPU (I've build my own TB4 and testing it) while on Ally they force us to buy very expensive XG Mobile - USB4 on Ally over USB-C port is disabled :/ To be honest I still don't know which one to keep :) I wish the Ally got USB4 then probably I'd stick with it.

      @CobraF1 4 місяці тому

      @@Zidro512 honestly I'm surprised at how much I love it. I already had the LCD Steam Deck so I thought maybe I wouldn't need the Legion GO - so I kind of bought it as a skeptical experiment. I now only use the Legion GO! The big screen is a pleasure to play on plus the colours and deep black levels are SO good that it's almost like an OLED screen... Huge upgrade with that from reg Steam Deck. It's also extremely well engineered. Literally everything has a reason (including things some ppl criticize): 1600p screen (too high for gaming? Maybe, but it gives you options to lower the res or keep it high for using the GO as a laptop or watching movies - GREAT tablet for that), 144Hz screen (this divides 24 Hz "cinematic" movies evenly by 6 so it should make watching movies extra smooth or it's good for less demanding games to hit high refresh rate, and you can change it to 60 Hz to for more consistency for more demanding games), the Switch-style detachable controllers are AMAZING because by putting the GO on a table and having controllers separately in your hands - it turns the device into the LIGHTEST device on the market - super comfortable to game this way). The GO is also super comfortable to hold (aside from the weight that can start to get noticeable after about 30 mins). The performance is fantastic - like a high end laptop (at 800p resolution) and most games work great except a few weirdnesses here and there. The updates come slowly from Lenovo but they are coming regularly, which is great. The Legion Space (hub for starting all your games) just got updated and now looks super professional and clean 👍 Unlike before. The built-in speaker sound quality on the Legion GO isn't great by default but with a few tweaks (check Retro Game Corps recent video about "Why I'm starting to Love Legion GO") it becomes Good sound 👍The greatest power of all though, is the ability to literally play any game from any launcher - unlike Steam Deck where you can only play your Steam games. Mentally, being able to play ANY game is huge. Overall, if you don't mind arranging things to your liking with Windows 11 (screen size, your icons, favorite programs for gaming, fixing a few weirdnesses in some games like Windowed Fullscreen instead of Fullscreen in some games so they display correctly, etc.) then you have a mini gaming PC that's almost like a console and gives you ALL the power and options. You just have to not mind arranging things (same like normal PC gaming) and after that everything is optimized and works smoothly. So I HIGHLY recommend the Legion GO. I also recommend the "Legion GO comfort grips" on Etsy.com that improve the comfort even more. Sorry for the long answer but I felt all of those points were important to help you decide 😎 Cheers man!

      @@Zidro512 honestly I love it. Everything about it is great and I'm a tech guy. Any elements that reviewers are saying are so-so are actually great. • @CobraF1
      @CobraF1 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Shadythedrifter No it doesn't affect me. It's true that having VRR is a great feature to make framerate super smooth (I have a TV and a monitor that both do VRR and I love them). But, it's not "necessary". The important thing with a handheld is to be able to hit a stable framerate in a game (above 30 FPS) and then lock the FPS by putting a limit (for example 30 FPS limit or 60 FPS limit depending on what FPS your device can hit consistently in that game). The FPS limit has to evenly divide into your screen refresh rate, so for example 48 FPS limit on the Legion GO divides evenly into 144 Hz and will look good (cause 48 x 3 = 144). Then, it looks very smooth even without VRR, especially on a small screen like on a handheld. The small screen kind of naturally makes lower framerate or even inconsistent framerate look smoother when compared to a big TV for example. So VRR like on the ROG Ally is very nice to have, but not necessary 👍 The Legion Go and Steam Deck both don't have VRR and both deliver smooth and pleasant gaming experiences I find.

    I bought the ROG ally and I definitely don’t regret my choice. Would I have liked the bigger screen? Yes of course, but the ROG has something that I respect a lot. The XG mobile option, which upscales the gpu by a lot. It’s really expensive, but for a handheld pc that has the option to cast on a pc monitor, this is amazing. I have a desktop so I won’t be needed the XG mobile, but for those out there that have an ROG ally, you don’t need a desktop if you purchase the XG mobile. Also, upgrading the SSD was very easy and super streamlined through the myasus app. I went from the standard 512gb, to the 1TB and I had no issues doing the swap myself.
