My 2002 ktm 125 seized up on me and I can’t kick my clutch, it’s stuck. What do I do?
It's called a soft seize.
A hard seize is a scary thing and can kill you.
I ride 2T moto go replica street bikes. You don't play going 100mph+ on the highway with traffic or on the mountain twisties.
I bought one that was locked up. It got water in the crankcase and must have sat for a while because the crank bearings were rusted up tight.
I have a serious question. I went to kick start my 4 stroke and played with the tune to try and get it started. And when I kicked it smoke came out of the carb/air filter. Don’t wanna kick it again if it’s something serious. It didn’t start it when I kicked it /when the smoke came out.

6,5-8:1 mostly with 98octane european 98e5 gasoline. Every tuning cylinder is different if you mean the max compression.

Scoring marks..only the top end ?..you mean the whole top end including the barrel?..scoring marks would indicate you need a rebore of the cylinder don't u think..150 to 180 is good on 125..180 to 240 is the range of a 250 or bigger

The enduros have alot less compression , my Dt200's are 130 to 135 after a few heat cycles

You can download the manual as a PDF file just Google it. I highly doubt there's anything wrong with it tho those things are bulletproof aslong as you have keep oil in the tank, it's under the seat and the bike mixes itself
Good Day again Sparky : If you want the compression pressure on any cylinder , the math formula is to multiply to-day's atmospheric pressure ( 14.7 psi ) X engine compression ratio ( maybe 9.5 : 1 ) . Check your owners manual for your exact comp ratio . For example 14.7 X 9.5 = 139.65 psi compression pressure on a perfectly sealed cylinder . This is the text book formula . It doesn't take into consideration the slight loss of compression due to ring gap . Bye for now from Toronto ...............

Sometimes top end problems aren’t top end problems could be a plug fouling out or a carb issue if your lucky

You keep saying seized the bike your working on isn't seized. If it was you wouldn't be able to kick it. Dose it need a cylinder and possibly a cylinder or bore yeah.

the easiest way to check compression or check if its siezed is to kickstart is and feel the compression that way. if the kickstart doesnt move its siezed. if it falls right trough it has lost compression

Hey I’m pretty sure I blew up my cr85, it has very low compression and most importantly it rolls back and forth freely as if in neutral when In gear instead of stopping after a couple inches like normal so can this be fixed easily by getting a new top end kit or is it something more serious since it’s rolling in gear? Would really love some help!
Start with a compression test, but it kinda sounds like you need a top end. It could also be transmission, but a compression check will let you know

I picked this bike up dude said it ran but ran wide open so he turned it off n it has been sitting since when I got it home I looked at the reeds I think they are fine fr I cleaned the carb and shot some starting fluid n it and gave it a few kicks compression seems ok not great but okay and it seems like it wants the start n then it will die right out also when I put the bike into gear I feel it change gears but it just roles like it’s n neutral
For everyone watching this guy doesn't know what hes talking about!!!!!!!when a motor is siezed it means it is stuck or locked up. The easiest way to tell is if u try to move the kick starter and it doesn't budge at all, [not what this guy said his motor is just worn and might be as simple as getting a new piston and rings to fix.] A siezed motor and can happen 2 different ways 1 being a top end sieze "when the piston is frozen in the cylinder or a bottom end freeze when the crank is stuck.. Either way you can check if your kick starter won't move. A lot more serious problem then what the video tells
Any good gynaecologist could have given the same advice-you can tell a lot by staring up the exhaust port, or in the gynaecologist case up the inlet manifold !😂
It either will not kick/pull over at all - it’s completely stuck (chainsaw)… or, the bike lost *all* its compression, after a hard run on the freeway… (F7 Kawasaki)
if it seized piston it would lock up the back tire not go buuuu the first paragraph needs rephrased 🤷♂️
Regular compression checks. Use a see snake down the sparkplug hole. Pull the header and inspect the piston. Inspect the plug. Look for scoring or blow by.
A tip for not blowing your two stroke... STAY OFF THE DUNES!!! Shits so hard on bikes
My ktm 85 has been laid up for awhile and I needed to get my carburetor cleaned as the jets got clogged and was a bog noise when reving . So now that's sorted I took it for a spin and basically when I put it into first gear it conks as soon as I leve out the clutch but yet when I run with it kick it to second it goes perfectly. Plz help 😢
2 strokes are litterly the most easiest engine to rebuild, just a piston no valves or timing to worry about you can fully strip and rebuild a top end on the kitchen table in under an hour you make it sound like a hassle 2 do lol and also a siezed engine means its locked solid that engine is not siezed! any 2stroke thats been ridin has scores on the piston 😂

I watched your video told my husband what was the compression on that bike he said over 100. inches I said it’s not broken cheeked it out put new fuel in it 3 kicks and that bad boy fired right up.
the quickest way is to kick it over & you can feel straight away if it's ruined or not.. no need to mess about
Well my ninjas toast. Already knew the second head gets hot an by the exhaust. Today I started it didnt really wanna go was a real low idle so I stopped it re started was checking it over. An smoke was coming from the left cylinder out a hole in the cylinder gills its ment to be there but also looked like it was coming out the spark plug. I did tip it on that side last time but. I know it's been getting hot an before I stopped riding it it would get hot an not cool down. Mind you i almost had it go one day blew clutch in my face an iv also drove the crap outta first one day. An it's always had a weird thing with the gears sometimes. I'm gonna go with the top ends toast. Gonna also look in my exhaust cause its trash anyhow an pull the spark. Drain the oil an see hopefully the oils good still. May have to wait to do that so I can get a new filter an cut the old one. Eh I got my fun outta it. I thought it needed a head gasket but now I'm thinking it's a tad worst than just that

Pulled the head off my kx and the piston was cracked in 3 different places and the cylinder sleeve was cracked in 2 different places was still able to start but little to no compression… looking to do a full rebuild on it but now I need a whole new cylinder don’t know if it’s even worth it at this point.

I was riding around on my 2 stroke scooter for months after the oil pump failed and it siezed I don’t understand how the thing still ran and ran fairly well it was covered in deep scoring

Couldn’t of said it better myself , but surely not every cut out an it won’t start again is a blown top end 😆.. I am going to investigate today with a new plug an compression tester but we’ll see god dam it 😅 fucking two strokes it’s had a rebuild 260 miles ago too and bottom end 🤷♂️
Guys I bought a fr 80 and I clean the carb tuned it it started up rode good but u put 32:1 and it blew on me I have no idea why the bakc wheel stopped bike started slipping and I can’t kick it down would it be the full engine ?

If your bike won’t kick start but it will bump start do you think it’s because it needs piston and ring?? I’ve checked spark fuel and air and I’m getting all, just seems like it doesn’t want to start on kick And my plug gets wet fast. Also my power valve tube is leaking more then usual. Do you think unburnt fuel and oil is getting by my ring ? It died in traffic one day and will only bump start. Ram strong for an entire year on my last top end rebuild.
Definitely want to do a compression check, 100psi is minimum, but 100psi is also a little worn on most

My yz125 seized a little while ago i replaced the piston and shaft but it just seized again not 2 weeks later
You most likely have an air leak somewhere, you need to do a leak down test

Thanks for your info and sharing . Other older methods are equally as good such as 1. Can you re-start ? 2. Do you feel that same compression on the kick starter as normal ? 3. If you gear down while decelerating does the bike have that same engine braking as normal ? If you've answered no to these 3 questions you most likely have a blown piston or a scored cylinder . @@SparkyMotoappreciate it bro. I got a cr85 I just rebuilt the top and bottom , kept the same bearings , replaced crank seals . I got the top end off offer up (wiseco) and when it starts up it smokes helllllllllla bad. Definitely not natural white smoke and looks like black oil dripping from exhaust. I read that it could be either crank seals (I definitely replaced those) or bad piston ring. I’m thinking I screwed myself by buying a supposedly new piston set on offerup but maybe the ring isn’t in the best condition for whatever reason? What could be causing the thick unnatural over strong 2stroke smoke.?💨
