3AM Marty Stuart gets a knock at his hotel room door, he can hear that it is Jerry Lee. Jerry Lee is standing there naked, except for boots, covered in chocolate icing. "Sorry to bother you Marty, I need to borrow your fiddle, please."
Roy Acuff is just as influential as J.L.L. and, in my opinion, probably more deserving of being remembered for his original work. They both became old timers and kept going to their end, and both were originals, but I would bet Acuff would be remembered as more inspiring to more musicians. He just doesn't have a debauched reputation that makes for more sensational stories. But i like and remember them both!
These are pretty cool stories that I heard about as a kid because these were my dads rock stars, Jerry Lee, Elvis and especially Johnny and Merle. He also lived it some, had a stake in a club that hosted a lot of country music stars back in the 70's and part time bouncer. In those days, he was the real life version of Dalton in Roadhouse except he was not a mystery, everyone knew my dad if from nothing more than reputation. He never lost because he grew up dog eat dog in the coal camps and backwoods hills and hollers. More than anything I remember him meeting his idols, hero's of music and times where he lost all respect for them because of who they actually turned out to be. He gave everyone a chance to be nice and get along, but only one. He thought the same about Jerry Lee as teen girls did about the Beatles, who he said were..... well, can't say those words today, but you know.
If you need to seen JLL's birthday party, that was streamed a couple years ago. Thank you, UA-cam for streaming it live. 2 men live forever in my heart. JLL & Jackie Wilson. Heart , soul of R&R and R&B. They made my life a better place.
It boggles my mind the amount of times these old country singers literally shoot someone and then like nothing happens at all lol at worst they get arrested for like a week and then it’s like oh it was an accident
America used to be very different... especially when he was coming up and where he came up. Watch a movie called Walking Tall... not the one with The Rock, watch the one with Joe Don Baker -- that's how it was.
People keep talking about rock and roll stars and the lifestyle. Never forget Hank Williams died with a head full of cocaine in the backseat of a Cadillac going down the road for his next gig😊😊😊😊
These old country boys are the original rock stars. Lol 😂
Bolder than most punk rockers considering the time period.
Jerry Lee was a rock star
Hahaha. Yeah
CHUCH BERRY IS
Billy Jo Shaver
“I’m really a good boy”….what a quote!!!!
Man the footage from that Grand Old Opry performance Another Place Another Time, in great quality here, I haven’t seen it that good on UA-cam before.
It's not from the Opry. It' s from "Hee Haw".
"He never threatened to kill nobody" ...except for the many *many* times he did lol

Kenny Vaughn has the best stories.. cheers!
I think even Keith Richards said that he couldn't keep up with these country stars' lifestyles. Country tough.
My now-deceased aunt Tammy was the daughter of Roy Acuff. Thank you so much for sharing these videos, country ass people need some recognition

My mom sang in the Hank Snow band and toured w/ Jerry. She met Elvis as well. She told me some crazy AF stuff about the 50s!
This is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cowboys do more dope!!! And... Mike Judge is a genius.
That laugh at the end 😮
Tells you 😮😮

Your Dad wanted to have sex with Jerry Lee?

God bless
Thank God for Jerry Lee
RIP Killer - They through away the mold with him..........
Nah, there's plenty of other child molesters out there.
Yeah, and someone threw away your education. 😂
Man could play and sing.
He was such a great musician
He plays better with his boot than i can with my fingers
One of a kind! They're not making any more of these! We're richer for the time he was amongst us and we are now poorer that he's passed on.
I'm starting to believe The Killer may be the greatest of all time
I was never a George Jones fan, I can definitely relate and appreciate his talent.
These are deep...like the mam said who knows what we're supposed to do anyway....we try... ❤✝️🙏👍
Last man standing MY ARSE. Willie Nelson is still going...........
Ole killa outlasted them all.
If steve spurrier was a rock star 😂😂
Please someone tell me the song he sings at the very end.
rock and roll mofo, hilarious!
I love ya J man!!! RIP

Kinda..... Lime rappers now. Truth be told like damn near anybody in a big liberal city.

💙☯️ ❤️
Didn’t he marry his 13 yr old cousin - from boondocks season 1 episode two r Kelly episode
yeah they cover that in this episode if you watch the full thing
Didn't kill nobody 😅
Got away with marrying a 13 year old that was his cousin.
Wouldn't hurt a fly.

Wrong: he died from an " overdose" combination of
Morphine, Chloral Hydrate and alcohol.
He was NOT the greatest! Are you kidding? Talented but not the best of Sun Records early rockers. Geeez
He can't open the gate because he's not the one that can.
So you were soft back then....no vulgarity or profanity.
