To clarify what I said in the video, the company that installed it didn't suck. They just took way too long and cost too much. The first company I tried to have it installed by was the one that sucked. They held my guitar for a week, didn't touch it and then got an attitude with me for saying I wanted it back.
To the hundreds of people who have asked how to buy it: there's an interesting little website out there called Google. The first search result for "sustainiac" is the official website. I'll let you figure it out from there.

Why is there so much hate in the comments? I came here to learn about the Sustainiac and got what I was looking for. If you think you have a better guitar or you can make a better video, then buy a Sustaniac and make your own video. Until then, STFU and appreciate the time this guy took to make the video and help others. I publish drone tech videos on my other channel and it takes a lot of work to script them, set them up, get the lighting right, shoot them, do re-takes, edit them and then put yourself out there for people to make ignorant comments. Give the guy some respect.
Either buy this or become Gary Moore, the man who could magically somehow hold a note forever with nothing but his hands and a Les Paul.

RJ Maksym Not at all. Les Pauls have been known to have crazy sustain, and Gary knew where to stand to get the most sustain in relation to his amp. That's a perk of playing at super loud volumes.

Thanks for the video. I was thinking of getting a Fernandes Sustainer pickup vs. the Sustainiac. My question is: What type of bridge pickup do you have? Do u need an active bridge pickup with the sustainiac?

And also, ordering it from the website isnt really that hard, you just go there and fill in your billing info(credit card) and address and they'll send it to you.
And btw, there is a new Schecter Synyster Custom-S coming in January 2012, it has the Sustainiac already installed! Cause installing one into a guitar will decrease the value of the guitar by half because of the cutting and drilling, But not on the new Custom-S since its factory done
I don't see why there's so much hate in the comments, I mean, this was quite a good review. I didn't know at all how Sustainiac system worked and now I do, isn't that the reason why we all came here in the first place?
Also, what's the problem with he showing his face? He's fucking talking to the camera, I don't get what's wrong about showing his face, and he actually shows the guitar when he has to, so, is really that bad?

I put a new one too think that might of been the problem but it wasn't it they said that they just installed it the way sustainiac shipped it out to them. They're gonna call sustainiac and ask what they are suppose to do to fix this problem. Your video will help out a lot cause they said they've never seen a pickup like this so obviously they don't know how and what it's suppose to do. Thanks for making the video!
I got the black/silver Synyster Gates Schecter off guitar center that has the sustainiac in it and it is such an amazing feature. It really makes harmonics scream and the fundamental mode is the most helpful thing ever when you need to hold a note for a while. Love it and wouldn't trade it for anything.
Great video. First I would like to apologize I dropped my computer and accidentally hit the "flag as inappropriate" so yeah my bad.I had a question about the battery pack. Is that a chargeable pack or is it like the acoustic electric and just stick in batteries. And is having the system make your guitar better for you. I'm trying decide on getting one or not

Both Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have guitars with a Sustainiac pickups in them and have used them on numerous occasions.

Oeps, i said they dont sell it seperately, i mean, they dont sell it to other shops except when its already installed on a guitar, to buy it seperately, you need to buy it from their website.

Years ago I use to get guitar player magazine and they came with a little plastic record of the hottest players and demos of new devises. this had to be about 15 years ago. one of the records was a demonstration of the Sustainiac not sure but I think it worked differently. what I mean is that it was more of an vibrating unit on the head of the guitar. I wondering if this is a modified version of the design Enjoy your demonstration c];-D
does the sustainiac always go in the neck position? i'm a lead guitar player that ABSOLUTELY LOVES SUSTAIN, especially for the type of music I play (hard rock, heavy metal, etc.) and I love soloing a lot, so clarity is a real bonus for me.
@seanbutlermusic hey dude nice review ok so i have a Schecter hellraiser special(modified) its got push pull pots An emg afterburner, Bareknuckle ceramic warpig(bridge) dimarzio liquifire neck and i would like to ask is the suatainic neck good can it deliever a high amount of output and how does it sound like? thanks :)

Its made by Levy's (i caught a glimpse of the logo when he leaned over). I believe its called the Levy's MSS71GC 1 1/2" Carving Leather Guitar Strap w/ Western Buckle in White. However i have found that it is difficult to find in White. The most common colors are black and tan but it comes in like 8 colors.
I bought mine from a different website before it was available on Amazon.com a couple years ago. This guitar simply looks and sounds amazing. The Duncan Invaders provide that Synyster sound that you are looking for. It is extremely comfortable to play with the jumbo frets. The only con about this guitar is that the gold finish on the knobs that your strap attaches to wear down to silver over time.

This is so fucking awesome and so fucking worth it. I want the black with red stripes one, with the sustainiac. It costs about 500 euro more, but I see it's well worth. Thanks a lot for this review, best on youtube so far, btw. Finally someone who bothers showing how it actually works, which is really important, because now I see it totally different. Before, I though "I'm gonna buy the custom simple one, what's the huge deal about the sustainiac?". But it actually makes a huge difference :D
those effects you showed are only avaible of for that type of shecter guitar or we could find them in other versions of shecter guitars that are not made for Synyster Gates?
I know it's been awhile. But could you post a video of the sustainiac off? I want to hear how it alone sounds. Clean and distorted. I read through the comments and I get that it's also a pickup now. Wasn't sure if that is what you meant in this video. But you didn't have it off long enough lol

hey dude, how't the sustainiac neck pickup on it's own...say when you play clean or just solo with the actual sustainiac off ? I'm looking into getting the Schecter Blackjack...but I'm not sure if I should go with the SD Jazz in the neck ( which I tried before and I like) or the sustainiac. cheers
Ok, I am deciding to get that pickup installed in my Syn Custom (Black) in a month time, and I need to know some things.
1. Will it mess up my distortion as my current pickup will be removed to be replaced with sustainiac.
2. Do I need to get like a really good amplifier to get that lasting note or is it all JUST in the pickup
3. From what I saw, the on and off switch was "customly" built into your guitar. Is the procedure safe?

So how does it behave clean or slight breakup? Do you always have to play in headbanger mode, or can you plan clean notes that hold for extended periods?

You can buy it from either their website, or ask your local music store to buy them for you, and just let them install it. You can also install it yourself, but the thing is that you need to drill in the guitar, so yeah, i would recomment you to give it to a music store to do it for you!
fernandes has sustainers too with pretty much the same function
it costs about 200 dollars for it to be bought and installed

did you have that sustainer installed? as far as i knew the white and gold with the built in sustainiac had gold inlays while the older model without the sustainiac had white?

I have a question. I planning on buying a guitar with an EMG 85/81 configuration and a Sustainiac at the neck. So, the neck pickup (EMG 85) is essentially a single coil pickup with the sustainiac turned off, right? Won't that effect my tone while using the neck pickup? Aren't single coils noisy?
Its no way to get aby other pickup neck when You have sustainiac. It have to be on neck position.
Just got one, is supposed to vibrate so hard, cuz it pretty intense…or should I be muting, I mean I know I should be muting …but dang it’s intense ..

I had a different make of the Sustainiac but all the same basic principles and my guitar tech / master craftsman could not get it to work . They are extremely difficult to get to work I believe.

Hey! I gotta question... I have an ibanez rg350dx. Stock pickups are terrible. Im thinking bout gettin a sd invader and sustainiac, like yours and syns. But when the battery runs outs, do i have to unscrew the entire pickguard, remove strings etc just to replace the batts? Or is there a way to get it installed without having to fiddle with the pickguard. Im new to floyd rose guitars and tuning it is real annoying so thatswhy i hate removing the pickguard. Thanks!

@seanbutlermusic does it really matter what pickup you have you have in the bridge position, I have a schecter omen extreme, and it has schecter diamond plus pickups, would they be ok?

The guitar is $1650.00. I'd like to know how much the sustainiac is and how difficult it actually is to instal if one is familiar with guitar electronics. I'm sure it comes with a diagram. Also is it made for seven string cause I love the versatility of seven and eight strings. Great video dude. Thanks for explaining everything from the functions to the fundamentals of how it works. I'll be ordering one quite soon. Also are they compatible with actives? Great vid.

Just got it installed and it's really cool but the top harmonic mode just kinda squeals the same on every note.
The sustainiac is awesome no doubt but do you really need a note to sustain any more than like 4-5 seconds? Really tho how many leads do you play that require that long of a note lol.

hey man, not sure how much it is anymore. i got mine ages ago but they're much more popular now
Installation kit is 229.99 for 6 string, 20 bucks more for 7 string. If you want the sustainiac guys to do it you'd have to ship them your guitar and stuff and I dont know how much they charge but it would be whatever that is plus shipping. I would recommend asking a local luthier or someone who knows what they're doing to do it for you, it will probably be cheaper.

Have you noticed the sustainiac causing the e and d string to vibrate when you hit a note? I have to mute the E and D string when i hit a note to sustain.
The Progress Report basically muting the strings you're not playing helps not only the sustainiac to picking up sound from them but also it helps you having more clear sound at sweeping and stuff. So if you get it going it will help ya generally
I wish they would coume out with more colors, but thats a personal opinion, you think the Custom S is worth the price?
At end of the day is playing loudest the best? It doesn't sound as organic as cranked amp feedback.
Does the gold on the Floyd start fading and losing color where you put your hand on it?
What's the battery life of that pick up? Does flipping the switches turn off the pick up from using battery? Thanks.
The battery life is 30 hours and yes, one of the switches turns it off

so, i have one in black and red, and when i turn the volume pot either up or down, it produces this electronic noise for a sec then dies. but is that normal or a weak grounding wire job or somethin?
