If you ask me, these were the best playoff series of the 90s. Knicks Vs Bulls was the best 90s rivalry and perhaps of all time. Even duo my Knicks lost every year, these series were still jaw dropping every single game.
The desire of both teams was incredible. The Bulls were just better enough. Both teams were well coached, played good fundamentals. While Scottie Pippen was an All Star level player at this time, he wasn't fully blossomed, in my opinion, until the following year when Jordan was retired.
Thought knicks should’ve had them this year, last minute of game 5 was the decided of the series. I don’t think Jordan would’ve won a game 7 at MSG. This was the one year Jordan shouldn’t have won the title the weakest Bulls team of the 90s to the win the title. It would have been a great finals also between the Knicks and Barkley’s suns.
@@vijaydanushkodi4980 The 93 team was one of the stronger Bulls' teams. Their playoff run was probably the third best after 91 and 96, especially on the road as they went 7-2. The only thing made them weaker was the fact they were the only championship team that didn't win 60 games, and that was mainly due to the Bulls' being bored with the regular season and wanting the playoffs to start. But outside of that, they were supremely talented and everyone was in their prime.
i can watch these videos of the past 10 times and i won't get tired. The game is so intense and so physical and it's just GREAT! Lebron, Kobe, Dwade can never average more than 20 points a game with this kind of defensive play
Thanks so much for uploading this series Korone. Losing the 1st 2 games had the Bulls entering unknown territory, game 3 Michael struggles but so did the Knicks as a whole. The Bulls got their first win and they never looked back. By the way at 1:02 clean block by Ewing, not goaltending by any stretch of the imagination.
Amen brothers. I've watched maybe 2-3 NBA games the last few seasons, but I don't feel I'm missing anything. Now I view the league as having a lot of kids in it, they don't seem like grown-ass men like the ones here. I'm tired of the posturing and jumping around and trying to impress your homies instead of being hard nosed and proffessional. This is REAL basketball. Listen to the crowd, the intensity; its like a tsunami of noise and passion. Even the console games now aren't as fun.
I totally agree with you..I've been trying to make this point for a few years now. this was when the NBA was the best. crowds were the best, players cared about winning and not just paycheck.i hate the nba now. the players may be more talented today than ever, but the teams aren't fun to watch.. this was my favorite time in the nba
The new knicks should watch and learn, the art of protecting the paint. The way they played back then reminds me of that old movie warriors, no punk in the old knicks, will fight to the bitter end.
I became a Knicks fan in 92 when they played the Bulls. The way they knocked the shit out of Pippen and Jordan was awesome. I don't think the Knicks get the appreciation for having the top 3 rivalries in the 90's.. Chicago, Indiana & Miami. Nothing nowadays comes close.
Stacking the paint Hand checking Limited Zone defense Actually being able to jump with the offense to defend the basket No gather step BS This was truly some tough basketball.
Big 90s nba fan. I honestly never knew the Bulls were down 2-0 in this series. Pretty remarkable. Ppl think the Bulls just ran roughshod thru the league back then but they honestly were close to not having a dynasty. One game or call here or there, and it could've been 3 or even 2 titles instead of 6.
The league once upon a time would let the players play tough physical style basketball. And the players back then understood their responsibility of keeping tempers under control. Then the Detroit bad boys screwed it up for everyone by starting insane boxing 🥊 ring fights. That forced the NBA to crack down to such a severe degree that now you can't touch anyone without getting called for a foul. Sad but true
This is the one game from this series that I don't have. Thanks for uploading. Never seen that foul by Anthony on Jordan in the flashback from the normal game angle (I had only seen it on the "Airtime" video) along with the ensuing moments. Awesome. It's so funny to hear John Andreis say that Ewing has a lot more help than Jordan does, because that's exactly the opposite of what you'd hear from Kobe kiddies today lol.
I love that fast break dunk were MJ gives Greg Anthony the stare down afterwards. Seen this dunk on several MJ trading cards but it’s cool to see it in real time
Bill Oaks really messed up on this call on Pippen by calling a double dribble but then he compounds his error by ejecting Scottie. (6:46) Just watch Scottie as he's bring the ball up and notice that he didn't pick up his dribble.
Starks copped a lot of shit in his career - reggie miller being the chief protagonist. But the guy was a tremendous defender & often was a big game performer. Sure, he was no 'all star', but still a fine player to watch. That dunk at the end??? WOW
You know what was funny? John Starks actually thought he could guard Jordan after the first two or three games of this series. Jordan lit him up in Game 4, and has not had any problems with Starks since.
Man there are so many people that hated Michael Jordan and the bulls whether it was Grant, BJ, Paxson, or Kukoc, Rodman, and Kerr, all I can say is Michael and Scottie were a tough tandem, and their fingers (rings) tell the story. 6 of those bad fellas. Which tells me even if people hate you, never quit going for your dreams. The best part is that the hate fueled them to survive and succeed, that’s real determination
kobe said in an interview with magic, that the celtics were the more physical and stronger team thus the were the better team. Kobe knows that boston is the better team and that the lakers have to match their intensity, kobe showing humility, and kobe is not stupid. the game tomarrow should be a good one.
3:59 Patrick DOES have more help than Jordan! Jordan has to score more, and do more on the floor than Patrick. Which means Patrick had more help than Jordan.
This is the knicks broadcast team and acknowledges Ewing in 93 had more help than Jordan. The bulls 93 team was the weakest of the 6 chip teams. Bench role players that were important to the first 2 chips were let go and the guys they brought in like Trent Tucker and Rodney McCray were at the ends of their careers and just didn’t produce the way the bulls needed
First off, I'd like to say thanks to KOrOne79 for this epic game, that's why I subscribe to your videos lol! I'd also like to add that I've been reading some of these comments and I will admit that I am a KB fan, but some of the comments from some of the Laker fans are ridiculous. To me, MJ is the GOAT, and this video was proof of his toughness. I must also add that I may be one of the only ppl here on youtube who can claim to be a MJ AND KB fan at the same time (yes, it's possible) LOL!
The thing that pissed me off the most about this game was Will Purdue... WHY was he in the game this late?? He could not guard Ewing on Ewing's worst day.
He did! From a casual fan/ retrospective standpoint it's hard to see. But Ewing was just a center, centers need more help than guards. Specifically, the best guard ever. These Bulls drafted people who were not "valuable" at the time. At least not chased hard by other teams. But they knew their roles. It only proves just how much Jordan raised the level of his teammates. The Knicks biggest problem was their emotional dysfunction under pressure. You can see it in Greg Anthony, Starks, Smith, etc. This is why they kept missing a majority of free throws. But who do the Bulls have to stop you up the middle? Will Perdue? Old Bill Cartwright? They later beat the Bulls without Jordan...which proves the commentators point. Which means they were the better TEAM. But Jordan is ALWAYS the x-factor .
That's true. Think about it. Don't confuse the 2nd 3peat with the 1st. 1st 3peat he didn't have much help. Look at this game here - Pip contributes only on D, meanwhile King Grant and Cartwright were "invisible." If you grew up in the MJ era, surely you know this.
@@Wis_Dom THANK YOU! Casual fans don't get it. That's why Bulls players, with the exception of MJ and Kukoc, were always dispensable. I even feel like in 1998 you couldve traded Pippen for Grant Hill and all you lose is the 3point shot. And the Pistons likely would not have given up Grant Hill at the time for Pippen.
Jordan's strength came from his great core power. That's why he was so explosive, in addition to a high degree of fast twitch muscle. Notice, no one has ever attempted to do Jordan's "rock the cradle" dunk in a game because you need 1)large hands 2)great leaping ability 3)an extremely powerful core because it's basically a wind up and explosion. Lebron and Kobe have never attempted it because they know they will make fools of themselves. Vince Carter even admitted he tried it & couldn't do it.

elwingy - exactly!!! Today they get to do their skills exhibition - without resistance anywhere on the court. MJ would crush the NBA of today. They made the defensive rules to help newer perimeter players achieve the same things MJ did by giving them much easier conditions. If he played now, it would be insane. Not just him but half of the players on these Knick and Bulls teams would crush the game today. I think Anthony Mason here would give LBJ a hard time defensively and he would score so easily on today's midgets.
I'm not sure how many games you've watched from the Dr. J era up to Michael, but the with the exception of one or two teams right now, there aren't any good basketball players let alone players with good fundamentals. I won't even touch sportsmanship and true love for the game.
The NBA has not been nearly as exciting since the 80s & 90s. Thank goodness for throw back players like Curry and LeBron. They would be Great in any era.
@etherodromos that was game 3 and the reason they tossed Starks was because it was his 2nd technical, and only Jordan's 1st technical. that's WHY he was ejected & Jordan wasn't
2:56-3:30 yall better listen REAL closely to what Matt Guokas says. ''notice how there is no picks (screens) for Jordan, he CHOOSES to go one on one & do his thing.''
Not to mention that both Mark Jackson and Anthony both got dunked on numerous times by MJ. In particular were Michael Jumps over Jackson, as he goes up for an ally-opp against the Knicks.
it is more about the players and the team play other than certain nostalgic factors for me to like a team. i live in LA area and i have encountered so many blind lakers fans that really know nothing about basketball. but yea, they are annoying in a different way in related to the kobe kiddies.
i feel like as good as marion may be, he would hurt the cavs. wally can hit big shots from the perimeter, whil varajao can get a bunch of rebounds and plays so well with lbj.
he took 32 shots and 13 Ft's he definitely got locked down Game 3 was even worse 3-18, completely shut down thankfully Pippen was there to save the day
There's a reason they don't set picks on him. If he takes his man one-on-one he will force double and triple teams, which leaves his teammates open on the perimeter and the baseline. If they'd set picks, it becomes easier for the defense to rotate and recover, because there's no isolation on the play. But yeah, setting picks on the greatest one-on-one player of all time seems a bit unnecessary anyway :P
Have to wonder how effective guys like Oakley and Mason would be under today's rules. They just don't allow that type of physical defense anymore that those early 90s NY Knicks and the Bad Boys used to play.
I wonder what would happen if Mark Jackson and Xavier McDaniel stayed with the Knicks after 92 series. They would help on beating the Bulls in 93. Pippen is afraid of the X-Man. Of course we would never know that now.
Im a laker fan but i have to respect the celtics. They are the real deal. All i see in the lakers is ego. Celtics are all heart. Cavs are not pretenders but i still dont see them beating the celtics
This was the golden age of basketball.
this looks so much more intense than todays game
