I absolutely ADORE this! Reminiscent of "Head Over Heels"- era Cocteau Twins, yet occasionally gloomier in comparison, engulfing us all in crepuscular mist. And then there's Craig's beautiful aural baritone. Standout tracks: "Coward's Way", "Mother Tongue", "Permanent Sleep" and "The Betting And Gaming Act 1964".
I discovered these and The Chameleons for the first time today, really great bands. Just the sound I love and the lyrics are amazing. I find it hard to believe I have only just discovered them both!
Your comment brought me such memories, hahahaha... The first time I listened to both of them was during the same week, back in early 1989 (I was 16 y.o.), the albums "Strange Times" (1986) by The Chameleons and "Diminuendo" (1987) by this band. Months later I had all of their releases till that point, including the post-Chameleons project The Sun And The Moon (1988). Cheers... Enjoy both of these bands.
found album on accident early 10th grade. exactly the kind of music to listen to when ur walking thru the halls w ur hoodie that you wear even though it's May. will 100% be remembered as the theme for my high school angst
This would be a much better album if the cymbals weren't constant in every single song. They are honestly grating. I don't know if it is the way it is mixed but it just sounds bad.

Tks for that 🥳
That is the power of music it will provoke all your emotions.
One of the most criminally overlooked and underrated bands from the post-punk era.
100% one of the most underrated albums for sure in post-punk if not in all of music.
One of the best ever 80s underground uk bands. Every song is a dream. The lyrics are like no others. A class of its own. Rip to the lead singer.
cried 2 this for a whole day in 2015
I cry to at least a song on this album almost daily tbh
Ahhhhh haha omg 2016 for me. I hope things are well today ☺️✌️

@@SammyandTex2 Wow thank you - I possibly would not have discovered these had you not commented. Greek bands very interesting!
RIP Craig Lorentson
This album is a Masterpiece 😎
Thanks for sharing this 🎉 Perfect for rainy summer day
Bellissimi brani e la voce struggente di Craig rendono questo album un vero e proprio capolavoro. R.i.p. Craig rests in your brittle Heaven...
pura musica de culto profundo ❤
album cover, as most Lowlife's covers, by Steven Swinney. RIP. Happy Birthday, Stevex!
I know spotify gives my suscription money to the war profiteers but thanks to their algorithm I found this beauty

This is the most cathartic album I've heard in months.

Хорошая музыка, на потерпеть сойдет.
По-настоящему понимаешь ценность этой работы, когда послушаешь нечто более современное и популярное
Love
Will Heggie from the first Cocteau Twins album plays bass on this record as well
Absolute masterpiece!
Un album che non stufa mai. Fa sognare, ti porta lontano.
Ma cosa stai dicendo
Fuuuuuck i love this album
Thank you for this masterpiece file this band under '' Slept On''
Permanent sleep still cuts me up so much. oofff!!
I would be surprised if this band didn't influence The Horrors, especially the last song remind me of them so much.
Quality post-punk and gothic rock
Una band da SOGNO. Scoperta da poco, mio malgrado....🖤
THANK YOU.
thanks for this.
banger
This is so good ! Archetypal goth sound
great
Насколько же это интереснее многого, сделанного разными скоростными гитаристами и "высоконотными" вокалистами
I feel like this is where Mark Burgess' career should have gone instead of his Sun and the Moon project.
Vocalist could be mistaken for Mark.
Couldn't agree more. Nice to see another burgess fan!
This is deeper I would say, Mark has a higher voice.
