Nobody "hates Kelis". Ya'll can love Bey to the moon and back, but you can't negate Kelis' feelings, which are clearly more directed at Pharrell and Chad. This has been spoken about for years, without resolve. She's honest and transparent. Can't be mad at her for speaking her truth.
Sounds like she wants the music industry; especially people of color, to move and do business with integrity. I would get annoyed too if every few years I’m getting disrespected. She’s been outspoken since day one, maybe one day she’ll get what’s due to her…. #respect.
Jeni Michelle: integrity is dead tho. Cults of personality are springing UP all over the place and folks swear if someone speaks up on something, they doing it for CLOUT or that chasing the Bag is all that matters and not morals or code of conduct. Look what a bunch of brainwashed folks did in DC, killing police officers they claim to have supported with "Blue Lives Matters" when it was a different situation. It's over, been over Big Tech got folks in a choke hold and it won't change, because these folks Kelis and others who advocate for themselves because they didn't when younger aren't doing it for the principle. Some don't know what doing it for the principle even means, they only understand the language of doing it for the bag. She owns farm, some millions, sure who wouldn't more, but she does food, music, programming, and that's what SHE CHOSE to do was live off the grid. Folks will vilify her no matter what.
Exactly I lived it for a long time and people be like well you this and that you would do this you just don't know how bad it is you got to be really doggy dog like you got to be a beast to really make it in this industry for real for real if you're not doing it in a way where your parents and all that is involved
Nah... ain't no need of her being in the business and being bitter she should have took her money and got a lawyer. Nobody put a gun to her head to sign on the dotted line
She's blaming Beyonce for Pharrell stealing her music. If the roles were reversed Kelis wouldn't be to blame. If someone stole something from you, you can't blame me for it. That's life and reality, last but not least Whitney Houston sung Dolly Parton song I will always love you. Dolly Parton said she initially heard the song on the radio. Did we hear anything negatively?
Kelis hasn't been as iconic since leaving The Neptunes because she helped actualise THEIR sound. Kelis is just mad that she has all her best musical days to Pharrell. She was even liking tweets saying Rihanna stole from her as well. Her album came out 20 years ago. If she wanted to take them to court and sue them, she's had more than enough time.
@@KairoK you're right hey, she's just hurting and probably thought someone like Beyoncé would never use her songs knowingly what the Neptunes did to her, you know Beyoncé being all about “black women empowerment”
Despite the fact that she was 19, I do legit think she was taken advantaged of. She may have signed the contract but she did it in good faith considering she was working with people she thought were her friends and the idea of being scammed probably didn’t register. So yea I understand why she’s angry. On another note, her Album “Food” is probably one of the greatest records I’ve ever hears
Despite the mistake on her part, we have to admit the music industry is set up to keep most artists at the bottom of the totem pole. It's happened so many times but many will overlook it if their faves are the ones doing it.
“Good faith”. Didn’t she grow up in an unhappy upbringing? Was she THAT naive? I wouldn’t trust anything if I had to have her upbringing. Pharrell and Chad are definitely wrong for what they did of course but Kelis definitely should’ve watched the signs. Most artists sign on “good faith”. That’s the problem right there. The music industry is shady. Didn’t they learn from Q-Tip???
Kelis isn’t saying anything new here. She’s been speaking out about the shady industry for years. I think the audience automatically just sides with the popular artist because they feel the popular ones can’t do wrong and that’s false. The beef shouldn’t be directly towards Beyoncé but she gets no slap on the wrist. Beyoncé has been called out for years for taking other musicians materials. EVERYBODY CAN’T BE LYING ON HER. The beehive is just as delusional and the Barbz. But Pharrell’s the biggest shadester. it’s him who’s the problem. This is why more and more artist today are going independent.
@@Mya_water here we go with the peanut gallery. Too many of you exist and it’s exhausting. The fact that you think standing up behind morality is associated with being a Kelis stan is comical. It has nothing to do with standing for Kelis, ain’t nobody picking sides. It’s morality. It seems you know nothing about that. Weather it’s Kelis, Azealia Banks, Tyler the Creator, Kelly Rowland, etc. it’s not right either way. The industry is shady and many artist from the 80’s and 90’s suffered from bad deals. Those are just facts. You’re just too ignorant and stuck on stupid to understand.

Which is weird because our society has apparently woken up from victim blaming , but situations like these when a popular person ( beyonce in this case ) gets called out , that goes out the window. Seems like ppl today will ride waves of whats popular to do
@@jba414 Thank you, the thing people won't acknowledge is that every single artist we know & love sample music from back in the day. Chris Brown has a song out right now called Warm embrace. Ashanti: this! Or even with a double standard attached to the ISH, how folks gonna act so understanding about Dave Chapelle airing out his dirty laundry with his contractual obligations to Netflix and Comedy Central but all of sudden Kelis being younger too like he was, "she shoulda known better" the HYPOCRISY is REAL AF and the gender differences in treatment is HELLA noticeable, favorites aside. Every time someone comes and speaks their truth about a celebrity that is Major popular like Beyoncé people want to call them haters, broke Etc.. take your blinders off, weird af!
Not just that but people are saying Kelis should’ve read the fine print, but in the very next breath will drag someone like Diddy for scamming other artists, or worse, cry about the predatory student loans THEY SIGNED when they were the same age as Kelis when she signed her contract. Like, come on now.
Nobody is calling Kelis a hater. Where do you see that in these comments? Kelis is mad at the wrong person. Beyonce got the rights from the OWNER. It's not Beyonce's fault Kelis signed a shady contract by a dude she was sleeping with. Beyonce doesn't know this woman. She doesn't have to give her credit for a song that does not legally belong to her. You all want to mad at Beyonce because she's Beyonce. Kelis was bamboozled. She needs to take that up with Pharrell.
Give that girl her shit back! They took advantage of her when she was 19 with that contract. They knew what they were doing. I'm always down for Kelis! She's genuinely authentic 💕
I have loved Kelis since 1999 in 10th grade. constant rotation on MTV2 back in the days. i got Kaleidoscope the day it came out. i met her when she opened for Britney Spears and she signed my Tasty poster. She was so sweet and beautiful. LEGEND!!⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩thank you for letting me share lol Thank you for this!
Kelis was standing up for herself the music industry did her dirty she had the potential to be a successful artist. Kelis deserves to be respected and supported for her musical talents
thats so unfortunite that people would use her bc she was young, and steal from her now just bc they can. i feel really bad for kelis, she doesnt deserve all this crap
It’s a very hard lesson to have to learn. We all at one time in our lives trusted the wrong person to our own detriment. People pretend well so it’s best to trust only yourself!
he may have been wrong but have you ever heard of the thing you always read everything before you sign your name on a dotted line because once you sign your name on the dotted line that's it they got you so if she would have read it before she signed it then she would have figured it out but she was all about that money not saying that they was right because you should never swindle anybody out of anything because it comes back on you. you're always supposed to read something before you sign your name to any contracts, and documents because not reading the fine print will get you every time.
Kelis has always been dope to me from Music to fashion. Now Pharrell has always been shady - blurred lines anyone so him throwing her under the bus is par for the course. Beyonce could have called Kelis out of respect because of artistry. And please don't get me started on Jayz - who's always taking shots at women when the beef is with another man. Nas cleared his schedule on Ether - the greatest diss track of all time (and we can fight about it. lol)
You just seem like a miserable hater. Call Kelis for what she not the Boss she don’t own shit. Only a basic ass bum ass peon would agree with Kelis because who calls the help to make decisions…
Kelis went through a lot this year, losing her husband and now this, people have their breaking points and I believe this was a Suttle way of addressing the issue! Nobody is above reproach, and she shouldn't be scared to speak how she feels!
🌬️💨💨💨 She was right, "People in the industry has no soul or integrity." It's just unfortunate that she didn't find that out until it was already too late and her publishing was longgggggg gone.🤷🏽♀️
If sge had actual talent none of that would matter all these new artists independent making more money off their youtubes, shes mad shes not beyonce, why shade her soo much lol shes bitter
I absolutely love Kelis. I think her argument was valid. She didn’t seem mad to me. She seemed annoyed at the disrespect and hypocrisy. So many great artists have been messed over in the industry. Great video as usual. 💛💛💛💛
Kelis is feed up with All the disrespect towards her. What is done in the dark will come to the light. You have these industry bullies thinking they can walk over all these artists. Once their eyes 👀 are open and they realize they have been ripped off by management & fight back they have a problem with it. I hope Kelis gets back everything that is due to her. God turns ashes into beauty. She shall prevail can’t wait for it.
So can you help me understand why did over 3 dozen people sample that same exact track yet she only singled out Beyonce? Lastly dozens of artists took samples from past artists yet they don't get held to the same standard. Calling her a thief when the true villain is that creepy looking crooked thief Pharrell. She should sue him penniless in my opinion.
I love reading comments chastising these artists about signing messed up deals.....when by now I am hoping some of you have heard how many of these execs tell artists they can't have someone else look at the contract and they have to sign right there on the spot (i.e. TLC and the original member who refused to sign the contract and the group moved on with their shitty deal without her). Also from the jump these artists are broke and can't afford their own legal representation, and even if they read it themselves they don't understand "legalese" and would not be able to spot something "suspicious". Artists like Brandy and Beyonce were blessed to have parents who were already experienced in the world of business and contracts and were involved from the jump. Also information about the entertainment industry as a whole and the behind the scenes fuckery has only just become public knowledge with presence of the internet.
it has a very unique sour taste when Black ppl do this to other BP. knowing that we come from difficult circumstances chile we downtrodden. and i keep telling my relatives. Not all skin folk are kin folk.. and the one thing women should never do is smash a co-worker, no matter how convenient and delicious he looks. what's happening here is especially hard for her because he got in her panties.
You made a point and renigged...especially about people getting a lawyer, and how most artists don’t understand legal terms or even a fraction of the repercussions. But the thing that you were leaving out is something that other artists who are not signed to those labels have done, which was pause and not signing something on the spot. That’s a high pressure sales tactic, so you won’t back out because they know it’s a deal, and you’ll more than likely buckle with a 10 million dollar check in your face. You can’t say some are the victim and then at the same time make an excuse for why they don’t do what they need to do. So you agree it was her choice not to handle her business. Of course they’re broke that’s why they were scouted, it’s much easier to manipulate people who don’t have any money. That’s obvious, Hollywood and the music industry aren’t really different in that sense. But where an artist needs to be smart is not just signing anything because they’re “poor”. If they cared more about their craft and not just getting money and can be in these type of deals, that’s the true team. But most people don’t realize in order to get an artist you have to compromise certain parts of your art, they were willing to compromise their art so they can be famous. There’s no point of feeling sad for them now, they’re still famous they’re still relevant but the choices that they made, interloped with those with knowledge and better business sense, caused them not to make as much as they could have, and that’s on them. The industry is predatory but if you walk into a lions cave you can’t expect, NOT to be eaten. Be smart come in with a weapon to protect yourself. A.k.a. a lawyer that knows the industry, And will look out for you. Another thing entertainment lawyers ARE IN FACT affordable it’s called saving your money, a lot of artists probably don’t do that, but if a lot of artist would stop being right brain only and left brain a little bit they wouldn’t be in these situations. It’s easy to take advantage of somebody who’s so duplicitous.
Reminds me of that scene n making the band when Sara wanted her lawyer 2 look over the contract Piddy had given them n he had a piss fit. Even made the rest of the band gang up on her until she signed it
@@jba414 How much do you think it costs for a good lawyer who is also highly knowledgeable about the music industry ? Also, yea it's true they might work with them and arrange a later pay date but the artist's success is unknown & what if they never get the money within a certain time frame ? They might risk penalties & more. Also, these people came into the industry at a very young age with little to no knowledge about the business aspect of the industry. Even today, artists can & will get played. Business knowledge isn't a couple of days worth to understand. It takes weeks, months & even years.
Kelis is right ‼️ she always was, and I hope she gets every dime ever owed to her. She works so hard constantly and I just want her to receive the proper recognition for her trailblazing career in the music industry 💕 Pharrell gets way too much credit for their collaborative projects. Male egos man. They fuckin suck
i always loved Kelis… she had her own sound and growing up i thought she was soooo pretty.. it sucks that people in the world just can’t do the right thing
Kelis did the same thing that Toni Braxton did. Trusted the producers and the producers attorneys and signed a wack recording contract and come out short. The Neptunes are just flat out wrong for what they did to Kelis. Janky Janky
I love this channel but the title is lazy, spiteful and disingenuous. Kelis has been robbed too many times by too many people and she’s calling them out plain and simple. How does that equate to her hating everyone?
I've always respected Kelis's artistry. She's extremely talented and I've just always loved her unique vibe, especially early on in her career. It's heartbreaking to hear all of these sad industry stories. It's as if all of the non-superstar artists that came out of the 90s and early 2000s have been done extremely wrong, taken advantage of, used up, and thrown to the curb.
She's talented but I immensely lost a lot of respect for her for what she did to NAS and their son Knight in the whole custody battle/child support award malarkey.
@@theoo149 She has a beautiful, soulful voice. If you're judging from "Milkshake" then yeah, I would think she couldn't really sing either. Listen to her first album, particularly "Caught Out There" and "Game Show." I actually don't know a lot of her discography, but I got put on to the first album about two years ago and I was shocked at how nice of a tone she has. There's some instances where she sounds somewhat similar to Sunshine Anderson. Just a nice, strong tone.
@@Mya_water Her career was pretty average, but I wouldn't say she is. She has a very unique and dope vibe about her (or at least had). She's just been forgotten by the mainstream and pop culture, so it's easy to dismiss her. She really fumbled this opportunity though. She could've became somewhat relevant again.
Kelis simply stated what she felt. She's worked hard in the industry and got less then what she put in because of Chad and Pharrell. She's influenced COUNTLESS musicians, and the LEAST Beyonce could have done was given her a heads up. Even Robin S got flowers and a heads up and she DEFINITELY didn't write Show Me Love. I do believe that Kelis wrote at least HALF of her songs and she deserves her reparations and flowers.
Wanderland was the first item I ever bought on Amazon in 2002. I was (and still am) such a huge Kelis fan and I just had to get my hands on a copy of Wanderland. Amazon was the only way I could get an imported copy lol. I still have that album to this day. Also wanted to add that in the CD cover of Wanderland, there is a picture of Kelis posed on a horse lol
I agree that Kelis didn't during her 2nd & 4th albums. Kelis is actually really popular outside of the US. She has had more critical/chart success globally versus here in the US and she's put out more albums than most people are aware of. I do wish that people in the US would appreciate her music more. She's stayed putting out albums and singles, but takes her time in between releases. Music stopped being her primary career long ago by choice.
What has REALLY changed how I feel about Beyonce is the fact that not only did she NOT reach out to Kelis...but Frankie Beverly said that he had NO IDEA Beyonce sampled his song (Before I Let Go)! He said he found out just like everybody else! He is a living breathing LEGEND! How tf do you NOT reach out to Frankie Beverly????? As a friend of mine stated, "Beyonce is corporate. She is like a corporation. Corporations don't give af! It's all about money!" That resonated with me.
Okay!!! That’s remix of Before I Let Go was/ is AWFUL!! It truly shows anyone with an ear that the poor Chile can’t sing!🫢 Beyoncé is a parasite, leech, vampire, or anything else that steals and sucks life …. Nothing is original about her.. Beyoncé stooped as low as stealing from college students🫣
I've still never heard Chad speak to this day. I don't even know what his voice sounds like which is weird, considering that the Neptunes were such a successful duo.
Maaaaaan…this tea have me in shocked. Kelis has every right to be upset. The Neptunes mostly Pharrell took advantage of a 19 year old. The tea about JayZ impregnated Nas baby mom’s had me speechless. Not a fan of Bey but she’s an amazing talent. Kelis also deserves her flowers because she has also made an impact in pop culture where here music will forever be sampled and used as references. Now I realize why Beyonce doesn’t respond because she has A LOT to hide and there’s a lot she doesn’t want the public to know. That satan comment have a lot truth to it and JayZ isn’t the only one to blame 👀
It sounds like she just got caught up in some shady deals/ contracts. Sad but doesn’t seem like it’s the fault of the people she’s publicly upset with. Trying to look at it a bit more compassion I wonder if she’s still mourning her husband who died earlier this year? Idk how I’d act if my husband died young after being sick.
@@jjw1920 She has PUBLICLY stated her grievance with Pharell and Chad. Several times. She's addresses this situation with Beyonce now, currently. By your account this woman has openly hated and criticized Beyonce for years, which isn't true. Your reaching
I was asked to be in a group when I was 16 and me and my parents got an attorney and we went through the contract and we would have not made a dime and it was for three albums so of course I did not sign. Basically these deals will give the label 100 percent control and get a huge part of the earnings and the money the artist gets is used to pay for all of the management and assistants that are usually related to the producers or the owner so they get their money back. Remember what Pebbles and LA Reid did to TLC? They use the singers like puppets who have no power.
Moral of the story is - if you want something, build it YOURSELF like Master P did. The music industry will never change and will ALWAYS prey on the unsuspecting and naive.
That's a beautiful name, God protect your beautiful baby girl.. Kelis has been through alot its Nas, Pharrell and the industry and losing her husband. God bless this woman.
Folks always wanna jump down Kelis’s throat for having a shady contract. The only reason Beyoncé is not in the same boat is bc of her dad. Everybody is not fortunate to have a parent that can look out for them in the entertainment industry. Is that Beyoncé’s fault that Kelis’s had bad contracts , no . However, stop acting like Beyoncé is some business mastermind, she has smart ppl behind her that made the right moves just like Brandy, Usher, and Monica just to name a few.
Beyonce has talent that allowed ger to stand the test of time, so many artists are independent now, kelis is bitter she couldbt produce nothing on her own after realizing she couldnt use nas"s money

Been a fan of hers from the beginning, and as much as I loved her with the neptunes it's interesting to think her career really took off when she started separating away from them musically.
I feel for her, for being done dirty by Pharrell and Chad all those years ago..but unfortunately it’s just a really hard lesson to learn for her. She’s gotta let it go and just expect all that music to be used. It’s messed up, but what can be done about it? As far as how she feels about Bey not reaching out..Idk what their relationship is/was, so can’t really say. But there sure are a *lot* of claims out there on Bey taking ideas and damn near completely jacking styles, etc. so I don’t think _that_ is far fetched. Maybe it’s just me, but I never took Hov’s line on Clique to be a diss…thought it was just nodding to her song Bossy. Kinda like “hang it up, flatscreen”?
When she and Nas were going through a messy divorce, I had mixed feelings about Kelis. Maybe they were just too toxic for each other. Once she found love again, I was happy for her. Very unfortunate what happened to Mike Mora. Aside from RIGHTFULLY beefing with some industry elites, losing her husband doesn't help either. 😔🙏🏾❤️🕊️
I would love for Kelis to sit down with an entertainment lawyer and see if she can get some or all of her music rights back from Mr New Black Pharrell and Chad. She’s an exceptional artist and kaleidoscope was one of my favourites. Another good one, Thank you RRG❤️❤️
Personally if Pharrell and Chad produced and arrange the song of Milkshake. It is there music rightfully. If they want to take elements of it and add to a another song they have all the rights to do so. Beyoncé shouldn’t have to answer to Kelis, unless she sang a verse from Milkshake. Do that make sense. I understand the frustration from Kelis, but it is more there song than hers. When it comes to who produce and created the melody. I am thinking from a music theory state of mind. I am not taking anything away from Kelis, she is talented. However, Imagine if Whitney got mad at someone sampling “I will always love you” that isn’t her song it’s Dolly Parton. The only person that can make clearance of the record is Dolly! 🤷🏾♂️ I just see this being beef between the Neptunes and Kelis!
I think Kelis was taken advantage of by the industry and was involved often in drama had nothing to do with her. However, I feel like she’s a tad resentful. I still don’t hear Kelis in the Beyoncé song she’s referring to. She also knows she doesn’t have publishing rights so idk what her issue is. I still think she’s a great artist and an overall dope person.
@@lilliebobson3146 Yes but like she said the songs don't sound alike at all. Kelis is assuming Beyonce knew that Pharrell stole her music 20 + years ago. If someone stole something from me I can't blame you for it. However I'd be just as pisst as Kelis is & rightfully so. Her feelings are valid she was done dirty.

Anyone else feel like Kelis was before her time?! She's a whole vibe really. And Kelis is right, if someone wanted to sample music all you have to do is ask. There's a lot of shady things that go on behind the scenes.
with all the responses across social media about kelis’ situation, more emphasis and onus should be put on producers, execs and other people in power being predatory and manipulative more so than artists being “young and naïve.” most of us don’t know what we don’t know until stuff noticeably goes wrong, and that’s just a natural part of life for all age groups. predatory contracts and manipulative business practices are not. it’s just been normalized under exploitative capitalism (and bigotry, misogyny, etc if we really wanna go deeper).
If y’all love Kelis so much then why are haven’t bought any of her albums 😂 y’all calling her a queen and the greatest and no one supported her music get outta here 😒 y’all love her but her last album Food sold less than 12,000
after hearing the song she's talking about, in THIS situation, i truly feel her anger towards Beyonce is misguided...its REALLY Pharrell and Chad who's necks need her foot on them.
That Bossy bar by Jay-Z was absolutely not a diss to Kelis. It was simply a reference to the Kelis song Bossy. Like when Big Sean said on Offense: "I ain't really rockin' with you, I ain't on that Mike sh*t", which isn't a diss to Michael Jackson, but a reference to Rock With You. The song Clique also came out a whole decade after the beef with Nas.
*”Beyonce takes a piece of Kelis' song "Milkshake" and flip it. Kelis calls Beyoncé out as a thief and goes at Pharrell as well. Mind you, all Kelis did was sing the song. She didn't write it. Thank you and this is why Beyonce is a GLOBAL artist. She may not hit number 1 on this country but it's over 100 countries she tours in. Still the highest paid soloist & the highest paid black woman in America, the most Grammy award winnings etcetera.
I just hope she gets the reparations she deserves. No one appreciates being taken advantage of. And definitely no one appreciates being disrespected. Smh
I don't think she hates everyone. I think she's just real and unhidden. The songwriters and producers of the song were credited, which of course made sense, but her issue was not being addressed first before a song she performed and made famous was used. I had her CD back in 2006, 'Kelis Was Here'. I thought it was a great effort and body of work. You can tell she does her own thing and cares about her craft.🎨🖌️
At first I thought that but then she went IN on Beyoncé chiiiile 💀 like Kelis even went as far as calling Beyoncé "Satan's spawn" on Tiktok 🤭 it got messier and messier. And to make matters EVEN WORSE, Kelis's sister joined in as well and then everything like, blew up lol so at first I used to think that Kelis was this saint but you gotta admit that she was in the wrong too by adding that extra spice in the sauce that was already hot lmao 🤣
Get along with you was my favorite song going into high school so I know that song very well. I had all Kelis albums and I stand with her 100% because she is one of the rare REAL ARTIST out there who isn't afraid to speak up to Beyonce worshipers young and old. Beyonce is starting to prove YEAR AFTER YEAR she is out of creativity. Destiny's Child was CREATIVITY PERSONIFIED. They stood on their own with their own style and sound. Beyonce when she first came out copied Tina Turner, Copied Josephine Baker at one point, and over the last decade in her solo career she has sampled many other artist music without permission. As an artist myself when someone uses your work you feel disrespected because you STOLE something I created or helped create. Pharrell really ought to be ashamed of himself especially because most people didn't even give him CREDIT for his 4 decades of work UNTIL "Happy" came out though he had been doing music since the 1990's! Beyonce is at a point where she feels like she can do what she wants without professionalism and it makes her more pathetic and not the Queen people assume. Absolute NO RESPECT for her.
Pharrell has always gotten credit for his creations. He was literally the go-to guy for two decades beginning with the late 1990s/early 2000s. Unfortunately, Kelis was not aware that she should have had a lawyer read over her contracts before signing anything! She was young and naive thinking she had "friends" in the industry when in reality, music industry people are all devils who will stab you in the back in a heartbeat if it means lining their own pockets.
This is not a good day for Beyonce. Adding to the Kelis sample situation she has groups coming at her about the spazz word, an industry song writer questioning why she has so many song writers on her songs and people are coming at her about the church girl song. I will say Beyonce removing the Kelis sample is a victory for Kelis. Kelis said if she can't make money from her own work nobody can 🤣. I respect it. Great video as always.
"She needs no promo from me, she has Satan" LMAOO!! Honestly, i believe it. Beyonce has said blaphemous things in her music about God for the past few years. I love that Kelis isnt scared of anyone cause they have more fame. Only one we should fear is the Almighty God in heaven!

Beyonce is so secretive about her projects that people were getting NDAs and contracts 2-3 weeks before it dropped. She's not going to give out any clues of what to expect on her projects. She called NO ONE she sampled. Her team handled all the paperwork and did so right before the release to try and prevent any leaks. Kelis need to go sue Pharrell. What she's asking is just not realistic for every artist that samples her when she doesn't own anything. Like girl.
I was sensing alot of pain from Kelis. I forgot about her husband dying. She need to get counselling, grief then heal. Forget about them, ranting won't change the past just allow more negative energy in her life. Most people know how the industry is. Kelis honey, move on, heal and focus on the family.
If someone tricked me at 19 where I could be getting money for my work for the rest of my life and took credit. I would not like you either. The truth is the truth and what they did was evil. At what point do you take responsibility for your own mistakes? It happens. Get over it and chalk it up to being naive.
Despite the mistake on her part, we have to admit the music industry is set up to keep most artists at the bottom of the totem pole. It's happened so many times but many will overlook it if their faves are the ones doing it.

@@Mya_water 🤣🤣🤣
Beyonce has talent that allowed ger to stand the test of time, so many artists are independent now, kelis is bitter she couldbt produce nothing on her own after realizing she couldnt use nas"s money
Facts!!! The ones you names were all young and could have been taking advantage of as well but had parents behind them who didn’t allow it but unfortunately she didn’t.

People forget that even if it’s a good contract, you can still get played.
Most “good” contracts usually have something where the label owners can basically own all you record so was it even a good contract to begin with?
Which is why it's best to stay out of the predatory music industry. Most of these artists end up being broken.
She is like a female Lenny Kravitz. Very versatile and extremely savvy unfortunately they took advantage of her naivety but it only took 1x

Been a fan of hers from the beginning, and as much as I loved her with the neptunes it's interesting to think her career really took off when she started separating away from them musically.

Yeah, this is a messy situation and I like Kelis and whatever she have to do to fix her deals. She need to get a good lawyer , good luck to her ! 👍🏾
@@danavixen6274 Very true 😞
@Dana Vixen I completely agree with you and much more, especially about her and Nas situation!👍😰🔥💎👑💯

@@leeby67 because there’s literally nothing she can do to change it.
I would love for Kelis to sit down with an entertainment lawyer and see if she can get some or all of her music rights back from Mr New Black Pharrell and Chad. She’s an exceptional artist and kaleidoscope was one of my favourites. Another good one, Thank you RRG❤️❤️
Oh yes, Mr. "New Black" 😂. That pseudo intellectual has spouted nothing but hot air for 20 years! I say this a die-hard Neptunes fan too.
Nah she fine calling fools out
Personally if Pharrell and Chad produced and arrange the song of Milkshake.
However,
Imagine if Whitney got mad at someone sampling “I will always love you” that isn’t her song it’s Dolly Parton. The only person that can make clearance of the record is Dolly! 🤷🏾♂️
I just see this being beef between the Neptunes and Kelis!
It was interpolated. Look up that word. Then maybe you'll get it
@@lilliebobson3146 Yes but like she said the songs don't sound alike at all. Kelis is assuming Beyonce knew that Pharrell stole her music 20 + years ago. Anyone else feel like Kelis was before her time?! She's a whole vibe really. And Kelis is right, if someone wanted to sample music all you have to do is ask. There's a lot of shady things that go on behind the scenes.
with all the responses across social media about kelis’ situation, more emphasis and onus should be put on producers, execs and other people in power being predatory and manipulative more so than artists being “young and naïve.” most of us don’t know what we don’t know until stuff noticeably goes wrong, and that’s just a natural part of life for all age groups. predatory contracts and manipulative business practices are not. it’s just been normalized under exploitative capitalism (and bigotry, misogyny, etc if we really wanna go deeper).

after hearing the song she's talking about, in THIS situation, i truly feel her anger towards Beyonce is misguided...its REALLY Pharrell and Chad who's necks need her foot on them.
That’s what I was thinking, I’m confused… it was simply a reference to the song, he didn’t say anything negative 🤷🏾♀️
@@Mintjulep3 The point is why? What’s the point or the reason? He could’ve referenced anyone.

Pharrell and Chad did. She didn't produce it. Pharrell and Chad did. Beyoncé still gave her credits on the song and in the album.*
*Kelis would have gotten writers publishing points on a BEYONCE album. She was upset Beyonce didn't tap in directly with her. So what did Beyonce do? Took the Kelis part off the song. Now Kelis will make nothing and Beyonce ain't got to deal with the headache.*

I just hope she gets the reparations she deserves. No one appreciates being taken advantage of. And definitely no one appreciates being disrespected. Smh
I find myself coming back to your channel every other day 😂😂❤
I don't think she hates everyone.
Absolute NO RESPECT for her.
who cares who you respect
I love the narration and content on this channel. Keep doing y'all thang!

That's pretty disappointing because Kelis & Neptunes made some great tracks.
Like girl.
