Funnily enough, I felt like Kelis was too early and ahead of her time when she first came out. She was herself, unique and quite fresh. I didn't even really appreciate her until I reached college which was 5+ years after Kaleidoscope was first released. Her first few albums are certified bangers for my heart. Her style, her signature looks, she was lit. And I think Europe may have appreciated her more than the US but that is just my opinion.

She was FLAWLESS pregnant and I was astounded. You’re absolutely correct.
Sidebar: The Whole Foods you’re referring too is in a plaza across from Ponce Market right? It was my first time visiting Atlanta earlier this year and bought some food there. It’s so big there compared to the tiny stores here in NYC

Classy Lady One would imagine that’s the way it should be but the reality is it costs a lot of $$ to break a new artist. Labels would rather put less money back into the artist already making them a ton and make a ton more. If artists want to be different they have to do it independently and if successful, the labels will fall in line because they don’t want to miss out on the next big thing. It sucks but actually a much better financial situation ultimately for the artist.

You can live in private all you want but when you do decide to talk trust and believe you must know and understand yourself because others will create a story out of a piece of information that will have only the bit of truth the rest is made up and entangled to be a part of the storyline. Propaganda sells, that's funny for people who say they don't like drama but is always in the mix of other people stuff but when it is their turn oh how the feelings change and to deal with those feelings and back to doing the same thing is nonsense. Keep the drama coming and then wait for karma cause it's coming again.

It saddens me that she and the Neptunes may never make music again. They created exceptionally well, together. I absolutely looove the Neptunes. Despite the contract being signed, I wish they weren’t thinkin short term profit. They mislead her. They may have made the money on that contract but imagine working together for life outside of shady contracts. Never pays to cheat someone, I would have gone separate ways too.

Back when I wrote for a local indie newspaper, I reviewed music. I was so floored by Kaleidoscope that I wrote a lengthy, detailed track by track breakdown, repeatedly exclaiming that everyone NEEDED to hear this.
She has a similar energy to Gwen Stefani, Pink, Fiona Apple- she can put deep confessional lyrics together in a way that makes you wanna blast it and sing along. Others just have this powerful neo-soul meets alternative rock meets girl power vibe. I pissed off a lot of people in my review when I said "if a white woman had put this album out, she'd be lionized and elevated".
