K Stephen That makes them bad managers. They should be able to market an artist regardless. They are supposed to make them trend, not follow the trend. That’s true marketing.
Classy Lady One would imagine that’s the way it should be but the reality is it costs a lot of $$ to break a new artist. Labels would rather put less money back into the artist already making them a ton and make a ton more. If artists want to be different they have to do it independently and if successful, the labels will fall in line because they don’t want to miss out on the next big thing. It sucks but actually a much better financial situation ultimately for the artist.

She's honestly way too cool and unique for the music industry, her authenticity is too strong she isn't controllable. But thats what makes her amazing and what people really connect with, she is real.
I absolutely adored Kelis. Was sitting watching the television with my then 4 year old daughter and her song "I Hate You So Much Right Now" came on. My daughter sat there with her mouth gaping and was like, "Daddy, why's this lady so angry?" Obviously trying to explain the song to a 4 year old is no easy feat... 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I've been waiting on this one. Kelis was too ahead of her time and not a follower. I love her so much for that. I even dyed my hair green because of her. 💚
You know, it was in fact included on the Rolling Stone's updated best albums of all time list. And it was pretty high, like among the top 50. Was a very nice surprise.
I'm glad she's doing well. Her first two albums Kaleidoscope and Wanderland contained some of the best song lyrics/production I've ever heard in my life. Her sound was so fresh and unlike anything else on the radio.
Back when I wrote for a local indie newspaper, I reviewed music. I was so floored by Kaleidoscope that I wrote a lengthy, detailed track by track breakdown, repeatedly exclaiming that everyone NEEDED to hear this. She has a similar energy to Gwen Stefani, Pink, Fiona Apple- she can put deep confessional lyrics together in a way that makes you wanna blast it and sing along. Others just have this powerful neo-soul meets alternative rock meets girl power vibe. I pissed off a lot of people in my review when I said "if a white woman had put this album out, she'd be lionized and elevated". Glad to see her living life on her own terms.
She had most of her success in the Europe! I was such a fan of her and The Neptunes when I was a teenager! I remember seeing her in London when I was a teenager - such a great concert ❤️❤️❤️

And 'Millionaire' with Andre 3000 👌🏽🙌🏽
All Flames!!!!
@Sharene D I never heard wonderland actually. Thx I may have to check that one out. Does it still sound good for 2020?
@@Midtown_B ooohhh I'm about to check that one out, I never heard it. I'm later AF 🤣 but better late than NEVER
@Marvin Bennett marketing executives kill me. Like dude it's your job--give it to me I could LITERALLY market anyone!
They don't know what to do with you so they just give up. I would have marketed her as the leader of the weirdo kids and embraced it!
She’s a LEO... All of this sounds LEOish... especially that ending 👑
It makes me so happy to see her being so successful. She helped me realize music comes from the heart.
Her song "Circus" written by Marsha Ambrosius says exactly what happened to her.
Like one of my favorite songs by her
@@thinblacknoodles Same!
Super incredible record.
It's such a mantra.
i never knew Marsha Ambrosius wrote that song, the way she was singing on it does kinda have marsha vibe to it.
She was ahead of her time with her unique style. I didn't know Pharell and the Neptunes were shady like that. I bet they wouldn't scam a black male artist or white artist like they did her. smh
She still looks GREAT.
Kelis is probably one of the most underrated musicians, hopefully, she will make a comeback.
I’m glad she’s doing well. The divorce from Nas took a toll on both of them.
I always had a crush on Kelis SHE IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING...with a unique voice for hip hop in the early 2000...yall petty for using that photo of her in the thumbnail for clicks and views🤔
Facts. She's Still fine as Phukk
I loved Kelis every since she came out. She’s underrated. I still play her first album
The fact she didnt make money from her first 2 albums is crazy. Neptunes just said "Well, you signed it" 🤯🤯🤯
She's honestly way too cool and unique for the music industry, her authenticity is too strong she isn't controllable. But thats what makes her amazing and what people really connect with, she is real.
I agree
I loved that pink hair. I remember i was in college when caught out there. That was played throughout a lot of rooms.
I like her. She did that whole 80s fashion thing. I was hoping to see more from her.
Kelis!! You my girl!! Glad to her that you are happily married and successful raising your children🥰😎
Sounds like she finally found her self some genuine happiness ♥️👍🏽.
I loved the song Caught Out There back then, it was different from the other music at the time.
Kaleidoscope is one of the most underrated albums in music period. "Mars" "Suspended" & "I Want Your Love" hmmm...absolutely adore this woman.
Yesss!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 true
You know, it was in fact included on the Rolling Stone's updated best albums of all time list. And it was pretty high, like among the top 50. Was a very nice surprise.
Roller Rink too
Kelis is the best I love her music so much I loved her album Kaleidoscope, wanderland, Tasty and Kelis was here 🎼🎶 ❤️
RIP Mike Mora and sincere condolences to Kelis in the loss of her hubby.
She’s actually on a show on Netflix. They try out weed infused foods. It’s a really good show!
What’s that show called?
What’s it called?
One Popular Guy “Cooked with Cannabis”
TheBayou Witch “Cooked with Cannabis”
Technically, he didnt cover her face tattoo he enhanced it by replacing it with her horoscope...a lion..
I'm glad she's doing well. Her first two albums Kaleidoscope and Wanderland contained some of the best song lyrics/production I've ever heard in my life. Her sound was so fresh and unlike anything else on the radio.
I used to play the mess out of Kaleidoscope! I loved that cd!
She would have done really well today. Eccentric personalities are embraced far more today than ever before.
I love Kelis, and I pray she is living her BEST life with her family. ❤❤❤
Sadly, her second husband passed away.
My favorite song “I hate you so much right now.” Extremely talented Sistah!
"Caught out there."
Love her and foxy brown “ I taste just like candy”
Its funny how everytime an Artist comes out that somebody in their family passes away. ( That Sacrifice)!!
Exaaaactly! Glad you caught that!
Your videos always give me Life 🥰
Glad you like them!
I like Kelis and her individuality
Literally thought about her song, “Bossy” and how often me and my sister would listen to it. Crazy.
KELIS 🥰🙏🏽👸🏾👸🏾👸🏾👸🏾 ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY FAVEZ..HER VOICE💃🏽💃🏽, HAIR, FASHION..SUCH A QUEEN..TY 4 POSTN 👏🏽👏🏽💯💯👍🏽👍🏽
It's a shame that she is not releasing new songs. Her voice and style are just so amazing
She has a great cookbook. It is full of recipes that showcase her Caribbean roots.
I love Kelis so much and will forever be a fan‼️Kaleidoscope, Wanderland, Tasty, & Kelis was here are my favorite albums by her 😩❤️
Humans constantly change, when we age is when huge transformations occur. Some for the better and some for the worst.
Her Wanderland album goes hard!.. I use to ride high listen to that album 😆🤦🏽♀️😆
she’s always been such a beautiful person ( inside / out ) 💜
She had most of her success in the Europe! I was such a fan of her and The Neptunes when I was a teenager! I remember seeing her in London when I was a teenager - such a great concert ❤️❤️❤️
Wanderland was the first purchase I ever made on Amazon in 2003, and it’s still one of my favorite albums to this day
