- Finally...Limbo, the 2nd episode of the trilogy.
It's been 4 years since this story came into my mind and it has never left me since. I had to make it, no matter the consequences. It took me 2,5 years to make the sequel but...still worth it.
Now, one of the problems I faced with that was that the rate at which I was changing feelings about this video was faster than the rate at which I was making it. Which meant that I would often find myself wanting to change some parts of it, or even changing the story completely at some point. That's also why I don't recommend reading my comments under River as they will probably lead to more confusion.
However, I do recommend watching River again If you want to understand the story better. Limbo might pose new questions but it should also answer those posed by River. Also, the Ghost trailer is kind of outdated...keep that in mind If you go and check that too.
So...I've always wrote a lot of technical details under every video but I won't this time. Not because I want to hide them but because they are not important.
These videos were made with expression first in mind and everything else just works for that goal. Everybody can read and learn about editing, visual effects, rules of composition, but who cares, honestly, if the story is bad.
Which makes me think of how everything in this day and age is so formulaic, even things that probably aren't supposed to be, like music, movies, art in general.
You really have to go and look for originality nowadays and unfortunately not everybody cares or has the time and patience for it. And then, it's a vicious cycle. The more attention mediocrity gets, the more people get used to it and the worse it becomes. I guess mainstream media and "art" is to blame for this.
But anyway, let's talk more about expression, I liked that more. I don't understand why but for me, this is a big deal. In this superficial and desensitized world, where not caring or worrying is becoming accepted as a sign of strength while being empathetic and doubtful is seen as a sign of weakness, where numbers and logic have become more important than living beings, where social constructs control everyone, directly or indirectly, and where individuality is in a crisis again, of course I want to escape and try to express myself.
According to the world, this is a product of my "weakness", a "desperate" need for expression. Well, I think I actually just have some form of higher awareness/sensibility emotionally. The cars I animate don't use words, not even expressions, because they simply don't need them, they just have a "soul". The way they drive and their slight gestures with their wheels and lights, the camera movement and composition, the music and how all of these things are coordinated is all I need to try and make them come alive.
How stupid can I be? I've met more people that can't connect with the videos than people that can. And their excuse is often that they are just not interested in cars or video-games. Of course, they are missing the point, I use the cars to tell a story and channel my feelings into them. If they weren't cars, they could have been any other object. It could be that I'm just a horrible storyteller but I think a lack of introspection and empathy by these people is also a key factor. Now, yes, this story can be confusing and it's not a good example...but how come some people almost cried without even understanding it? The difference just seems so big to me.
It might be a bit of a stretch but it could have to do with what I was talking about earlier. In a society in which everything is becoming so formulaic, where children are taught how to be smart with logic but never get taught enough how to be emotionally intelligent and understand their feelings or others' feelings, of course they will find it hard to relate to anything when they grow up...except idiotic vines. And you know, If one can't control their feelings, they also, potentially, become easy to manipulate.
Also, do people really need a religion to...ok, this went a little too far haha...
So, in a few words, everything starts to fall in line too well from that perspective and that is scary. Look, I'm 21 right now, I can't consider myself someone that can teach anybody anything yet.
But If only people wanted to learn...they could find something useful in everything. Even If you don't agree with what I'm saying here, there are still things to be learnt from this description.
Anyway, here we are again...at the end. Thanks to all my subscribers for being here and having the patience to listen to me rambling again.
I hope you all enjoy this video...and see you on the next one...or the previous one :)

Brilliant video, I discovered it some time ago and watched it a dozen of times, it's amazing, I can't prevent myself from sheeding tears everytime I watch it, the first part is so emotional
Incredible, I can't describe how happy I am to finally read a comment that connects all the dots! So far, River and Limbo have proven to be very hard to understand and there are a lot of clues, like the numbers or the colors of the cars, that most people seem to miss. Especially the part where the entire track vanishes except the start and the finish line, that's extremely hard to see so, seriously, good job! :D
I clearly failed to make these things easy to understand, probably because I was trying too much to be subtle with them and don't make them too obvious. And I went really overboard in some parts...almost nobody noticed the 19 car in River, for example.
So now, only really active viewers have a chance to see these clues. And If you don't come from Trackmania...good luck lol
A few guys came very close with their interpretations in the comments and some of them worked pretty well too haha, which is amazing xD
Of course, there might be somebody who got it and just didn't write a comment...but oh well, since it's been years and you are the first to write a comment that connects everything, can I pin it please?? :D
After all of this, Ghost (the video), of course, has to clear all the mess up a bit. It will show the story from the beginning and attempt to explain what is going on, including the numbers of both cars, up until River happens. Then it will skip over River and Limbo and show the ending.
(Of course, I don't want to spoil anything but another little harmless clue is that the two cars can't coexist :D
Or at least their souls can't. When one is alive the other one is a...I think you get it.
All that happens at the ending of Limbo is the white car confirming that the red one is a ghost. It deleted the finish line but the other one still crashed.
The finish line, indeed, symbolizes death. It's not the damage that kills them.)
Thanks, thanks, 1000 times thank you for this comment!! :D
I am glad you like it!
@@DaniXks OMG ! To be honest I didn't even realized the red car had damage when it stopped, I thought it instantly stopped in order not to damage the white car, but it actually crashed after the "finish" even though it was removed :o I had to rewatch this particular moment to notice that, indeed ^^
And the explanations about the non-coexistence of the souls makes sense when the red car crosses the finish line in the first part of the video, it actually becomes a soulless ghost because it actually gave its soul to the white car :D
@@DaniXks And yes you can pin it btw ;)
@@DaniXks oh my god....
I See the 19 car
River (12+7=19)
Limbo(12+8=20)
Full on reminded me of the kid who's dad died and left a ghost time trial on the racing game they used to play together. The kid practised and practised to beat it and the day he was about to beat it he slammed the brakes before the finish just so the memory of his dad wasn't deleted.
Brilliant work dude
But in this story he wasn't going to beat it when he slammed the brakes! :D haha, I think that kid's story is way more sad than this...but still, thanks!
Oh man, thanks for reminding me of that. Such a moving story! That coupled with this video is bonkers. I am amused
That made me cry :´(
senton88 sounds like speed racer except it’s the brother’s record.
Sounds like the start of the movie SpeedRacer. Speed is chasing the ghost of his dead brother Rex racer on their home track but as he's about to break the all time track record he brakes so that his brother's name stays up there.
It's just a race game and you created a story. It's just 2 cars and you made them alive. That was beautiful!
Pixar didn't even need to give the cars voices or expressions. Just let them drive.
Thanks for the great holiday gift!
Also, great work with the music. Nils and Inon are some of my favorite folks
Dude it's a work of art. You're an artist
The video, is a message: Trackmania 2 is not dead
Nice work ;)
its a masterpiece.
It's not the craziest video I've ever seen.
She's not the craziest.
This is the most moving video I've ever seen on any trackmania video to date.
You manage to transmit emotions, you take the time to expose the mood the feeling, the past the suffering of all the players who try, try again and again for long hours.
You managed to integrate us all.
I don't know if you wanted to represent your story in front of trackmania or in your real life?. but these very well transcribed and it leaves doubt, I like it .
Take some shortcuts in life to be able to succeed or not on some path... is it a ghost of the past? a feeling? will never really be.
I like the doubt of the end, the feeling of letting us imagine the end in each of us. Play? Created? merge into each other ? ect....a lot of feelings are in this video .
Your strength and that defining a lot of things in us just by using cars and that's an art...
Keep Going Danixks .
Thank you Jak-Jak! :D
THIS WAS AN AMAZING ! Feel the art in that ❤ Emotional!!!!
Thanks! :D
I haven't the words... that's just incredible !
The atmosphere of the video is so chill and the cams and transitions are so well worked. I was so surprised by all the effects and by the point the cars are like "empty", if like they haven't emotions or feelings, only a soul who guide them and make them alive.
I think this is probably and surely THE video of the year, that's just incredible how musics and movies like this don't need lyrics to tell a story.
Good job mate, really really good job, hope for you the best ! 😘
This is just insane. I was waiting 2 years for this video and I guess it paid off.. incredible work DaniXks, I am so glad that you found the way back to this game and hopefully also some joy. I am really hyped to see the next video of the story, take care.
As much as I love those one run skill edits, i like these more because they are so unique
My son at 4 yrs old used to love this video... we had lost the youtube channel that had it up. And now he is 9, and we just discovered it again he is more than thrilled to see it again. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. Well, I didn't just share it, I made it. This is the original channel. Thanks for the comment, it's nice to see that he remembers the video!
When i was 7-8 year old i listen to this now 2 year again hearing this again nostalgia.... i littreally searching this in 2022 not found but now found.
This TrackMania Movie is just a work of art. The atmosphere, the music, the graphics, i just love it!
Hah, when I was a kid, I thought that TrackMania is just a racing game..
This is true art. Huge respect for you sticking with this, it's beautiful.
Trully amazing. Thank you for the pinned comment and your answer, I had shivers and had to retain a tear when I fully understand the videos, the story is amazing. Congrats.
Woaw this video has really affected me, thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️ that's so beautiful, I definitely vote for you for movie of the year of 2019 in TrackMania 😍
Masterpiece... Half a year already and Im still watching it almost crying, I never got so reached by a movie
I've been a TrackMania fan for years, and I know I'm late to the party here, but...
This is the first video, in six years, that's made me want to sign in and actually leave a comment. Your thoughts in the description are great, and really reach out to something that's, in my opinion, under-discussed. Not too many people put the work in to convey so much with so little, and make it something that's meant to be savored emotionally, not verbally.
Fantastic work, DaniXks. Please, take your time making the 3rd part. There's too much low-quality content out there that's released too often, without proper planning, forethought, care, etc, just for "consistent views"... I'm sure Ep. 3 will be worth the wait when it's finally finished.
Best of luck with the finale! You've got my likes and sub.
Thank you very much for the comment :)
It's wonderful, truely wonderful, this is one of TM's facets I love to see, which were pretty scarce to be honest. I'm speechless, this is amazing
This desc must be read out loud. If you up to not just understand it, but express it, your worries about art and its state in our life - you are up to teach people about it. Id never consider myself to be a good teacher, but Im the best around unfortunately(or fortunately?). Same goes for you pal. You said words of wisdom and I wish ppl would have seen em. Keep your nose up!
You are probably the only person being able to create a totaly different, twisted, view of a rather simple, straight foreward game. Giving life to cars, I and a handful of others drive nearly every single day for years now, and beeing able to express feelings through them is truely an art. This is by far the best video series for this, compared to other ones, tiny game cause it has the potential to connect and cast a spell over people being not familiar with it at all. As a true Canyon driver for nearly 5 years now I can only highly appreciate the effort you put into this art presenting a game many people already left behind and declared dead. Thank you very much.
How can you even create so much emotion with TM cars?
That gave me the chills!
The MT work is brilliant, perfect... I'm speechless.
this movie is so impressive. It was really emotional and awesome. Bravo and much
thank youu :)
So glad to see this project finished!
This video is filled with insanely creative ideas, the section with the respawns was amazingly well thought out and definitely a highlight of all tm-cinematography in my opinion. It's incredible how you can convey such emotion with the limited material you have to work with. Huge respect for continuing to make these, even though tm videos dont generally get that much attention. Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)
:award:
Thank you Simo! :D
Wonderful. Art. Emotions.
True talent
Someone mentioned you on a recent upload of mine and it hit me! Saw you on T3C bout a year ago. We were both featured with non cod clips in the same month. Its so damn hard to get people to like something that is not fast paced these days :\. Great work here by the way, transitions with the camera looking down on them while bridges and canyons fly by/moon water thingy too, both very well done.
Hahaaa, I just checked your recent uploads and I can see some talent over there with the transitions and some camera movements. Gta V definitely has this game for breakfast in terms of visuals but cinematically speaking the animations are just not good. I can't watch a 747 land with it's nose gear or cars drifting in jerky movements as If they are toys on a video that is supposed to look serious. Now, don't get me wrong, you have great ideas with the camera but I think the game is not doing you justice. For me your last video had it's nice moments but overall it came out as something cheesy, lacking in subtlety, which is something a video like that deserves and needs. But anyway, that's just my opinion. :p
@@DaniXks yeah i totally get you. Last video filming in multiplayer made the movement even more jaggy.. thanks for checking it out though
I love the music, ambient, cameras, everything. Really awesome video and work DaniXks! Can't wait for the continuation.
I watched river years ago and just now found this. I am nearly in tears, wow. just wow. I love what you have done, it got to me. You're an amazing artist and I admire you big time. Thank you for this.
This is an incredible work of art and I'm glad I managed to catch onto the idea behind this masterpiece. The way you managed to represent the ideas of dreams, reality, fantasies using the tools you were given is just outstanding, beyond all limits. You had me in tears, and that's something you should pride yourself for.
Incredible expression, I can't believe what I witnessed today.
Thank you very much :)
Looking forward for part 3, no rush ofc :)
It was well worth the wait. Great job.
Amazing, as always
Thank you VAE
And still one of the best. Staying true to its ideas even with time.
Pure work of art. I don't have any words for this, just thank you.
I just read your description and I'm moved, that's exactly what I feel. I'm so frustrated I can't express myself well because I'm not good enough in English x) But thank you again for all the work you put in these videos.
I don't know but I think you are typing these comments pretty well :D haha, thank you!
I mean like I want to make a really long text but it's hard xD
Saw this, when it came out. Haven't found words to comment this masterpiece.
After rewatching it today, i still have no words to describe this kind of art. Brillant work here DaniXks !
Absolutely insane !!!
9:39 Wonderful !!! What an effect !! I promise dude this is powerful how to convey feelings and emotions with this simple story !!
made with love and passion in every second and frame!!
exactly what i wanted. a car doing black magic and spawning a track XDD
but seriously this is fucking amazing
I don't know which one caught me more emotionaly - the video or the description. Very much truth was spoken there.
Anyway, I didn't imagine this sequel ever to come and now it is here better than I did ever dreamed of. I kinda missed the big bang I felt in the first part but maybe that will come in the Grand Finale.
Now I'm hyped for Ghosts. Looking forward to see it in 5 years xD
Man, I hope it doesn't take that long lol xD Thank you!!
We really missed you, and I didn't expected this video, and that such a video would be released one day on trackmania.
That video is really one of the best ever made in the whole history of trackmania
Wow... I wasn't expecting a continuation, and it was an awesome surprise to say the least !
I really love how you manage to make me feel such huge emotions from innanimated objects :O
*_[Following content may contains spoiler about the video, watch it before reading :D]_*
The brutal change in the middle of it really surprised me, kinda scared me to be honest xD But the feeling it gave to me was incredible...
I don't have much more to say, to be honest I didn't really understand the ending, even tho everyone makes up their own stories, I couldn't find a meaning about it ^^'
I won't lie, I still kinda prefer River, but Limbo is still a very huge piece of art :D
Congrats !!
thanks kya xD
How to tell a story without words
pure art, beloved game, sick edit
Sir, I thank you in the most sincere way I can express. I feel I owe it to you to tell you that this is simply one of the finest films I have ever seen. The way you express emotion and a sadness resonates with me. Thank you.
Thank you for the comment, i'm glad to see that this video connects with someone on a deeper level.
This was unbelievable, a true piece of art. I love the way you express yourself with cars. I loved every second of this. Cant wait to watch the next one !
Also, " The cars I animate are as weak as me, they don't use words, not even expressions, they just have a soul." that gave me goosebumps, I share exactly the same view.
This was sooo beautiful and well made! You should be so proud of yourself this is a masterpiece!
congratulations on the work.
if there is an error in the text it is because i speak portuguese and i am using the translator
I got emotional watching the video, even though it is a game in the background there is a history of trial and error and overcoming.
Thanks for your work, thanks for everything you've done with Trackmania so far
Its crazy, that a video about cars can get me so emotional. I'm just impressed by the good story telling you can put into the basic perspective of a car, all those little things the characters do to express their personallity. I cant put into words how much I'm hyped für Ghost. Keep it up ^^
LIMBO!!! I haven't watched the video yet but I'm commented because I hyped up. I know it's going to be beautiful cinematic. 😀
This is crazy good, i've being playing trackmania since Sunrise, and for some reason this video got me good... it's a piece of art
Amazing atmosphere!! Well done bro 👏
Finally!!!! I was hoping it to come soon, and now I woke up and see this in first page!! :) This is what I wanted, something that I can feel the emotions by watching it, and not just visual effect. You made a really great job DaniXks, you're surely the best so continue like that! :)
Another brilliant masterpiece... I swear these aren't tears...
The fact that you made a sotry of that is really incredible. I actually got touch doing that video. The link between those cars with beautiful. This video could actually help people. Thanks men for this master piece you made. Gonna be hard to beat (but it's better everytime ) :)
Considering the fact that I found your channel from an argument you were having with a Porsche fanboy on a Top Gear clip...
This is amazing!
lol, the guy I called a child? hahahah thanks!
How have I not heard about this before, I missed out on a video this good for over a month.
This is not just a TrackMania video, this is a piece of art.
I don't get how you manage to put so many emotions into 2 cars, it's unreal, it even made me tear up.
I can't wait for the third part, take your time to perfect it, just like you did with this one.
I'm looking forward to it!
Thank you! :D
Incredible moviemaking skill, I get goosebumps everytime goddamn
god I love it, so well done. Get me into the feels again
Certainly two videos you can be very proud of (this one and River), i really missed such good content from youtube.
And you are right in your description. Art is kinda dying out here, becoming very mainstream and boring, it just all is the same sometimes even down to the voice of the artist which had been "enhanced" digitally to "sound better". Yesterday i was at a concert where three musicians played some beethoven, it was the first time in a while a music moved me in any way. Same goes for movies. The last movie i saw was the reboot of Star Trek and this 14 minutes video moved me more than an entire 2h long movie, i think it speaks for itself.
Keep up with the awesome work, i'll be looking forward your next video, whenever it might be.
Really amazing Dani, always love your work :)
Thanks dano! It's been a while haha :D
Holy shit.
Sorry for my lack of words, but this made me speechless.
this was beautiful! awesome work!
I almost never comment on videos like this, but man this was something special. In my opinion you are one of the most talented people I've seen when it comes to storytelling. The fact that I could gather a story from this and River with no contradictions and all I had to do was watch it and rewind a few parts is crazy, and no matter what people say this is great and the storytelling was awesome, although I guess it could be that I'm just oversensitive as well. :P But really this was amazing, thank you for putting so much effort in so that something so touching could be made, and all you needed were cars.
This video is so detailed and well made i wish there was more content like this on UA-cam.
JUST WOW m8 These is beyond true art
Incredible, more than ever.
blblbl
I came here for the amazing shots and transitions. And as expected, they were stunning. But what impacted me the most by far was the story. How you created something so emotional with two cars and a game. And after reading the description, I gotta say you're amazing man.
but dont touch my idiotic vines xD
Beautiful, full of emotion
Beautiful, very well done😊
I got goosebumps. It's beautiful.
Man, this is breathtaking
this is really inspiring, good job sir
also i dont know if its just me, but the ending really reminded me of cars movie, when the sheriff was teaching McQ how to drift
This is amazing. Great job :D
Chills
A piece of art.
This takes me into a journey, for real
I feel like this a story of wanting to be something you think is great only to see through it at the end. A story about trying you hardest at something you like, only to see it's not something you were made to believe it to be.
Haha...oh finally...well, I won't spoil anything but you are on the right path, good job :)
You made me drop some tears you bastard
Beautiful, just beautiful.
Fantastic as always !
This was beautiful
Welcome back DaniXks 👍👏
Very interesting take on emotions and pacing, especially for a video game edit.
Even though everything is focused towards feelings, you forgot something important:
Build ups and beautiful shots lined up together will have a great impact, but where is the link with the spectators ?
Showing cars for 14 mins without investing the people on a human level will not give you what films can: (like Cars for example, or any Disney movies) a connection between the audience to the movie, something to relate to.
Name any incredible movie, their success comes from the read we can get out of emotions; within theme, story and characters.
I won't stop you making more trackmania videos (they are great), but you should try working with characters if you want to express yourself to its full potential.
Still, a great effort and beautiful result !
I was personally really invested in this car
@@Sukaichae Honestly, me too. I don't even like cars.
@@Sukaichae Yeah me too. It is crazy how many attributes of a human I've assigned the both of them.
As an avid 'Canyon' player, the cars ARE the characters (each one (hopefully) driven by someone from any corner of the globe (GPScheats... you know who you are, ha ha)).
A really gorgeous Part II and I really look forward to Part III, bravo!
Amazing game and amazing parody 1000 de 10
Beautiful mate
I'm crying.
I'm speechless
5:08 With that focus effect it looks like a miniature :0 10/10
Insane Keep up With the good work :O
We all spend our lives trying to be someone else,
have the courage to stand out.
now i will never leave a skin abandoned
Why am I crying?!
got me in the feels
Very moving.
This is awesome
beautiful
This is emotional for me
