- There are lots of great cars out there that ended up flopping hard, so today let's take a look at some cars that should've sold like hotcakes, but ultimately didn't.

What other cars would you add to the list?!
Personally, I would say the Hummer H1 with the Duramax.
@@bcdieselsofficial I think you meant the H2 and H3
The Lincoln mark lt
@@theonetheonlykb3836 no, look up the 2006 Hummer H1.
@@theislandsc the H1 Alpha should have stuck around.
The viper is more of a skill issue. It’s one of my favorite cars but I understand the fact I can NOT drive it without killing myself.
The reason the Delorean didn't sell was that it was a steaming pile of sh*t.
GM just didn't advertise the Cevy SS. Hugh mistake.
Also during the era of the imported Holden as a GTO, GM held the GTO back because it would have outperformed the Corvette having the same engine 5.7/6.0 LS. Also GM had a chance to import the Maloo as an El Camino and they didn't. But instead made the HHR/SSR. The name Chevy SS meant nothing to anyone, regardless if you were the average Joe or Car-nut, you reacted meh about the name because you couldn't relate to it.
@@NXT_LVL And it looks like a Malibu, seriously the average person wouldn't see the difference. Such a shame as it is a great sports sedan.
You spelled Chevy wrong it’s not Cevy it’s chevy
The Viper's V10 suffered from catastrophic bottom end failures in competition and hard use. The rear axles, likewise did as well.
That's the 4th gen engine, the 5th gen came with built internals and could handle 1500+hp from factory
Biggest failure of the viper, especially the 5th gen, was the lack of an automatic transmission. I'd be willing to bet it would have sold several times better if it had one.
Plymouth Prowler
I think the worst part of the Delorean was the anemic, terrible drivetrain.
Im surprised you put the viper on this list. The viper was extremely low production numbers. It was basically a concept car that they started producing it. You should watch how they built the last couple ACRs. Literally hand crafted
It sold, but didn't sell "enough" to seem like it was successful. Even though the car spawned one of the coolest future cops shows of the late 90s, VIPER. If they made the defender even as a super low volume run, they'd be more interest in it.
Also not to mention the last gen viper was based off the Mercedes SLS AMG as they shared a chasis and a platform together hell even dodge used SLS AMG'S as mule cars as the Daimler Chrysler merger never truly ended
I absolutely loved the 6.0 GTO
I think he’s right about the gto. It didn’t sell well because they didn’t market it right, and it looks like an round, boring, economy car. I also think the subaru did something wrong with the baja bc it seems like it would be competitive with the ridgeline. Sure people hate on the ridgeline, but it does what it’s supposed to do
The Lincoln truck wasn't meant for 4x4 duty. It was something you could tow your race horse with and gave you a perfect place to put your 3k saddle inside of. Quite probably the most luxurious truck ever made. You had to ride in one to appreciate it. Definitely felt like you were in a luxo-barge. Complete road isolation.
Thats... A really niche consumer base
Yeah I owned an 07 Lincoln Mark LT pearl and it had trans problems at 50k and I sold it before it got bad. As for luxury during that time it wasn’t all that, it looks like an f150 and drove a little softer than with some leather and a sun roof. I didn’t even tow with it 🤣. One thing I’ve learned about ford is they make good mustang motors and diesels everything else is junk.
Blackwood was a way for "rich rednecks" to seem less "poor redneck" and yet still hang on to the I'm a Ford guy nameplate. It's an F150 with a $51k price tag back in 2002. Same reason the Navigator and Escalade still work today, if you own those you're not a peasant in an Expedition or a Surburban
@@NXT_LVL Not everyone wants a luxury Rolls Royce, Bentley, Maybach, Mercedes, that just put put around passengers and cost over hundreds of thousands to over millions of bucks. Some people want pick-up trucks that are fully loaded with the luxury, that still costs fractions compared to the cars listed. And have capabilities at the same time. Some folks rather get the upper trim-line fully loaded packages than the "base" models
@@joshreynolds729 "everything else is junk"
Crown Victoria and Ford Fusion would like a word with you
The GTO was built by Holden and sold as Monaro down here and did very well in a small market
And i love all of these. Always had a soft spot for the ssr
Biggest fail goes to GM: The SSR was GM's college try at saying, yeah we forgot to import the Maloo, and bade it as a more legit El Camino when we imported the Morano as the 5th gen GTO...so umm here's an "El Camino" with the front end of a Chevy truck from the 1940s... Hope thats ok? (Ford had the failure too the T-Bird all part of the early 2000s retro is cool trend, actually started by the Plymouth Prowler) GTO Concept in 1999: FIRE!!!! 5th gen GTO: It's a rebadged Holden.. A what? Exactly.
I guess we need to ignore that the Subaru Baja is basically a 4 dr 2nd Gen Subaru Brat.
That’s what every GenXer thought when it was introduced.
The SSR, HHR and the PT Cruiser and Prowler ALL would have sold better if they were equipped with bigger engines. I mean, they were targeting the retro market. But someone failed at market research!
Chevy went oh wait, lets throw in a larger LS.. too late
The Karma stuck around after Fisker went bankrupt and my understanding is that as the Revaro, at least some of the kinks had been worked out.
Could you plz make a video about GM's Ecotec engines?
Hope the market goes up on the 2006 GTO but then I’ll probably wind up selling mine. Nice car, excellent interior for a GM back in the day. Bought mine new but took a job overseas in 2007. Has about 36,000 miles on it now. Fun to drive when I can.
Great video!!!
GM SS was nice looking. They should have marketing it
What about the GMC envoy SUV 2004 to 2005
The Lincoln black wood was actually based off of the Ford explorer sport trac. Not the f150.
Exactly. The Mark LT was based on the f150.
@@CaptainRudy4021 they were both based off the f150 😂
@@agentwade oh. Right. I forgot. It was based on the 97-03 f150.
Pontiacs last models were basically imported holdens the gto was an imported monaro vx i miss holdrn
The MK4 A80 Supra (4th gen) was a flop(and literally was criticized for looking different to the MK3 A70 Supra 3rd gen)
if I could get me a Dodge Viper, I would, but only problem with that is that I'm 16 and I only have $207
Pontiac ruined the gto in those years. It looked like a Grand Prix which looked like an old persons Buick in a way in comparison to the old school gto from 69 and before. If your going to bring the Goat back then make it the Goat to which they did not. If the brought back the gto by refacing a zl1 but give it a c7zr1 motor right now this car would sell like nothing else. Gm is kind of stupid.
Toyota Prius and "Noone likes them"? Idk about USA but Prius is the number 1 car if you are Cab Driver in Scandinavia... Obviously why.. I live Prius❤
Nice
Delorean sounds similar to an Elon musk outfit .. no?
My mom drives a 2014 Prius and my dad drives a 2014 outback (with the cvt) so I couldn't help but feel like this vid was recommended just to remind me that my parents have shit cars lol. (JK I love my parents cars even if they're clapped af)
Make sure to change that CVT fluid regularly
@@MultiLittlegamer Blinker fluid is the farthest id go tbh
