I loved vipers so much as a kid. This video put such a huge smile on my face seeing how much those two enjoyed these amazing pieces of machinery. I envy Jeremiah and Nolan. Awesome video.
The second-gen was really something. As a early 90's kid, that was the iconic car; the poster, the 1/18 scale model, to video games. The 4th Gen, even though it scares the shit outta you, show no fear, get that "you can't be weak forever" mindset, and control the beast, like Jerry's expression at 16:00. While your passenger is sweating bullets. I can feel that adrenalin watching this video. The final 5th Gen was definitely a final salute.
I dreamed of owning a Viper since I saw my first one in 1992 in person at my local Dodge dealer when I was just 13 years old. I promised myself I’d find a way to buy one someday despite not having much growing up, and I let that be a big part of my motivation to achieve success professionally. Almost exactly 20 years later I bought my first Viper, a 2008 convertible in blue w/ silver racing stripes, and it was the most visceral & fun car I’ve ever driven. Owning it has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done in my life (aside from getting married, having kids, & buying my house… haha). Then a few years later, I bought the ultimate Viper, a 2017 ACR Extreme that was fully custom ordered from Dodge as a 1 of 1 car in a color that nobody else had, and with special options from the factory that you couldn’t get on an ACR otherwise. That car is truly the pinnacle of not only the Viper’s entire production run, but it’s also by far the most exciting, track focused, and extreme car I’ve ever driven period (and I’ve driven the majority of sports cars and supercars on the market from the last decade). I use the 2008 as my Sunday “fun” car to enjoy driving, while the 2017 is the highlight of my collection and makes appearances at a few special car events each year. It’s sad that the Viper was killed off and will likely never be produced again, but it’s also amazing that we had a car such as the Viper created & produced, and that we can still enjoy driving and racing them going forward. And I fully agree with the assessments of each generation of Viper in this video, as they kept getting better with age (at least the engine & performance), with the Gen 5 combining the best of performance, looks, and overall features to be one of the best supercars ever made. 🏎️💨
You didn’t by chance drive the viper you ordered through New Orleans ? I drove a brand new, temp tagged viper as a valet at the Omni royal orleans hotel It had crazy low miles and was brand new And was the top of the line model.
@ Nope, I didn’t drive either of my Vipers through New Orleans or anywhere in the area. What color was the one you drove? Amazing cars right?! My ACR extreme is a unique blue with white racing stripes, and only has about 620 miles on the odometer since new in 2017. I drive the 2008 much more frequently, but also locally in the NY/CT/NJ area.
As a 90’s kid who grew up with a 1/18th scale model of the GTS and now watching these boys grin from ear to ear driving these beasts- brought me a LOT of vicarious joy! Great video as always
The Dodge Viper has always been my absolute favorite car since childhood, every racing game I played it was a must have go-to car. When I found out they cancelled production I was devastated. To this day it is my dream car, will always wish I could have a chance to even see one in person. You guys killed it with this video, and it was glorious watching this absolute beast of a car in its full lifespan and truly seeing how it evolved. Thank you for this amazing video.
I first saw one at the London motor show in 1995 and fell in love. The first gen is still the classic. I've seen them only a couple of times since on trips to the States.
Same here, I’m still putting money together to get one....still kick myself for letting an opportunity slip by me, 03 twin turbo red I let go only cause I didn’t have a garage to put it in....
I got the chills watching this. Experienced vicariously through you guys. It’s easy to see how much you enjoyed driving your dream car. At some points you both sounded like excited little kids. One of my favorite videos of the channel. Thanks, Donut.
The timing of this car's production and the fact that there are very few of them out there ( one of which is in my garage with 138,000 miles on it.) make it incredibly singular and unique. Extraordinary design. Damn near unbeatable in it's final form. Unless Dodge has something absolutely out of this world to offer, I hope Dodge let's the Viper legacy rest. As they said in the vid... Don't be sad that it's no longer being made. Be thankful this car existed at all.
I love how genuine Jeremiah's reactions are when he's sitting in drivers seat after driving and before they get out. I imagine that's exactly how I would react given that opportunity
When I was 16 I was able to drive second gen Vipers at the Skip Barber racing school at Laguna Seca... I remember getting in and the guy telling me to use second and third gear going around the skid pad. It had so much power, you did not need to worry about first gear. So much FUN to drive!
Honestly the smiles on the two of your faces when you drove the first RT10 is just so cool. You could tell that you guys were legit pulling those smiles from your teenage cells like we all were when we had posters of that red viper on our walls!!
I really enjoy looking at Jerry. He is like a child living the dream. Even tho he is super focused at the moment i can tell he is having the best time of his life.
Most people love and respect them. They just didn't like that it destroyed their favorite brands. Dodge didn't sell many 5th gens because it lacked an auto. You'll never sell Vipers to Porsche guys with manual transmissions lol.
@@katekarin3838 Depends on the driver I suppose. We still do not have a legit 5th gen ACR lap time. The lap we got was done by private owners without pro drivers. That’s my uncle! He brought me along for the ride and it was an amazing experience… I also sat with Nolan and he gave me a ride in the RT/10 which was awesome. My uncle also has a LOTUS EVORA GT signed by Jay Leno because Jay drove 500 miles on it… he also has a 1996 blue with white stripes VIPER GTS! 🏁Talked with the owners including FOUR EYES and it was a blast! 💥
Nolan and Jerry's excitement is so genuine it's impossible not to love this. I love Jerry giggling like a little girl because he's so overwhelmed with all the sensations.
I live in a small town in the Uk where someone has owned a Viper engined SRT Ram for many years. You didn't see it on the road very often but you could always tell when it has been past because you felt the kitchenware rattling, it was like distant thunder
Something I found interesting. When Jerry is driving, he's all serious and concentrated. Then when it's over here all giggles. While Nolan is freaking out in the passenger seat
JEEEZE Those blue stripes on the GTSR look AMAZING! holy buckets, you needed to have added another clip of moving across that paint reflecting the sun. Beautiful!
If you want to track the car, don’t get a 2nd gen, unless you’re prepared to spend a lot of money upgrading. They puke coolant after just a few laps, and to describe the brakes as “inadequate” would be an understatement.
As a huge Viper fan, I love seeing content like this. The Viper is one of the most underrated models out there. For so long, it was overshadowed by the Challenger and Charger.
@@faheemabbas3965that may not be such a bad thing. Let it die a legend! If they brought it back now they’d probably make it hybrid and available in automatic. 🤮🤮
This was a fun day. The Gen 3 is mine. Funny how they changed the color of my car to blue for the cover image of the video. Everyone there from Donut Media were super cool. It was a long but fun day and I’m glad I was able to experience it.
Hey Nicholas… I met you with my uncle that day when he brought along the red gen 1 rt/10 viper… I was wondering the same thing about the changed color in the thumbnail
I think they only changed it's color in the cover simply to make sure your car stood out equally amongst the other (more bold) color choices, so that people who are scrolling (quickly) through UA-cam will better notice it. Then again, wtf do i know
I am one of the viper nuts, I absolutely love everything about these cars, my absolute to die for favorite is the latest ACR, because it has the looks and it just seems like what they were trying to do the entire time with it’s phenomenal brakes and acceleration, and the 4th gen is my close second, because I love the way it looks and it’s that good combination of refined and still a little raw. Loved this video
Totally agree. Never been a dodge guy or even a muscle car guy but as a kid (I’m 31) there was always something so special about the Viper. Just iconic. Still maybe the best named car ever by the way lol I mean name a car with a better name than the Dodge Viper
Ill say this as a subscriber from the early Science Garage and Up to Speed days - if you did this with every iconic long-running model of car, I would watch it multiple times
Something not mentioned is Carrol Shelby assisted in the design of the original viper due to his extensive background in performance vehicles and racing. The viper is also a nod to the Cobra in both the design of the car and the emblem.
The driving reactions of Jer vs Nolan is pretty funny. Jer is just straight faced but ripping around with the cars versus Nolan enjoying the drive while pushing just a little bit. And also the comparison of Jer driving vs ending in a huge smile after each vehicle.
I heard that one of the main reasons the Viper was discontinued was that it didn't have side impact air bags. The designers didn't want to accommodate these airbags because they thought it would ruin the lines of the car (the doors would have had to be redesigned to allow for the air bags, and the mechanisms required). Insurance companies didn't want to touch this car with a ten-foot-pool. Fun video, thanks.
This is true. The acr of the final gen actually saw a sales increase from when it originally was rerelease in 2013, but needing a redesign on a car that was only just starting to show promise wasn't worth it to Fiat. But the president of Fiat said he wasn't completely turned off to bringing it back someday. We will see
@@Brandoncwa17 They may have missed their window of opportunity, as it looks like the "muscle car" is becoming extinct. Gas prices are sky high, there's the environmentalist, and the increasing popularity of EV's. Not to mention the Federal, and some state governments pushing really hard to get rid of ICE's. I kinda doubt we will see the 10 cylinder Viper, again???
It’s wild seeing someone drive your car and love it so much. (Gen 1 Viper) you get numb to a car like this after driving it, and watching them gives me the feeling I had when I first got it.
Okay I normally skip the in-video ads, but this one was adorable and I watched through the whole thing. Make sure Zach lets his mother know she did a fantastic job with this ad!
It's such a shame that they stopped making the Viper. That 8+ liter v10 always shocked me since I was a child since in Europe we tent to consider anything bigger than 3 liters a massive engine😂
The thing is: A high power 1.8t is great in its own, but when you completely ignore emissions and get the same power per liter from a f*cking 9 liter V10… There are enough videos of 2500hp vipers out there…
i have been a viper fan since i was six and knowing the viper family is over is sad BUT just knowing there are still people out there who feel the same as i do and still smile when we come across one will always remind me that even the greatest things will have to come to an end. love the vid guys 🥹
This was fantastic! I loved seeing the smiles and the laughs. There is something special about driving or riding in something with 600+ HP. Also shout outs to Merino valley!!
It’s my uncles rt/10 we were there that day of filming with donut media! If you are in Moreno Valley come check out PERRIS BURGERS… all day breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I ended up with an 05 Ram single cab SRT-10 because I actually don't like driving in cars/sedans anymore, when a 2nd gen ACR was my dream car growing up( Im only 35) That's the one you needed to drive with the T-56 instead of that 4-door dog with the auto. I sold mine last summer when car prices peaked- super fun truck, but nothing beats the thrill of two-wheels at the track and the price per mph is substantially more obtainable for the everyday person.
I wouldn't say the Viper ever really failed, but it certainly was a victim of timing and company overlords coming and going. The Gen2 was also my favorite of the bunch, with a close 2nd being the ACR. A knee doctor friend of mine had an early ACR that he raced frequently and would use it as his weekend 'quick response/called in for emergency surgery' vehicle. It was always a treat seeing it out in the lot even just sitting there. Early 2000s for timeline reference.
What a killer video, fantastic to see these boys drive what is frankly a whole generation's dream car. If this vid proves anything, it's that Jerry has got ice in his veins. The look on Nolan's face says it all, dude can D R I V E.
This format is gold! I’m sure it isn’t easy to gain access to a clean example of a given car from every generation, but I’d love to see more videos in this style as frequently as you can!
That was wildly fun and sang to the inner child that dreamed of owning a gen 1 or 2 Viper. The last gen Viper gave me hope that it's possible to properly revive a legend. Gone but never forgotten.
Give it a few years, and they'll re-release the Viper line again eventually. Corporations are neither known for creativity; or unselfishness. So shelving the entire line is actually a shrewd, wise choice; as far as the business end is concerned. It simultaneously boosts the brand value, and allows them ample time to make a more coherent; and valuable design.
@Snarkastic Douche idk, man. With Dodge being part of Stellantis group and the heavy shift to EVs. If we did get a new Viper, my money's on a full electric version.
Like... Think about the Delorean. That car was ugly as shit; but it had a cool factor that was well taken advantage of in the BTTF series. And today, you can buy brand new Deloreans; fresh off the factory line, because some smart businessman knew there was a new market for old, nostalgic cars. There's also a 3rd party company that has a license from Ford to make modern reproductions of their classic muscle cars; complete with modern engines and drivers aides. I'm a bit shocked no one has tried reviving the "Pontiac" auto line yet, but I'm sure it is still coming. They made some incredibly nostalgic muscle cars themselves. The Firebird, the GTO; whoever owns the Pontiac name is setting money on fire by not making modern repros.
@@TheDarkPacificEventually, the EV fad will start dying out too. Or the governments of the world will just force us to bend over, and legislate us into being EV only; which does seem a bit more likely. Sorry, forgot which timeline we were living in for a moment. I messed up, and got optimistic for a second there.
@@TheDarkPacific Anyways, dystopian present/future disregarded... You'll still be able to buy, and own more or less what you want in the future; including internal combustion engine vehicles. The caveat is, you'll just have to be filthy rich; then you'll be granted access to some of the freedoms being robbed from us. So if you can get rich, it's probably advisable.

Viper never failed in anything. It's simply just raw tough car for very limited community of racing-skilled drivers preffering unfiltered experience on limit.
I drove a brand new, temp tagged viper as a valet at the Omni royal orleans hotel
It had crazy low miles and was brand new
And was the top of the line model.
I am also a 90s kid, do you remember the Viper tv show?
As well as Gran Turismo, it was almost the first car I wanted to get unlock.
Thank you for this amazing video.
same here bro🤎
@@kavinduprabhashwara9816 I work for Dodge and have seen once Gen 3 it was epic!
Same here a last gen acr is one of my dream cars when I heard they cancelled it I was heartbroken
Jerry's concentration face vs Nolan's frightened by the sped face in the Gen4 ACR is an awesome shot!
I got the chills watching this. Experienced vicariously through you guys. It’s easy to see how much you enjoyed driving your dream car. At some points you both sounded like excited little kids. One of my favorite videos of the channel. Thanks, Donut.
Love how jerry just goes from laughing to the most serious I’ve seen this man in the gen 4
Jerry chill as hell while Nolan freaking out is amazing hahaha
Jerry said it best. It's a Florida car, and Jerry's a Floridian. It suits him well, lol
I've never seen Nolan so happy... proud bald eagle tears.
The pure enjoyment on Jerry and Nolans face made this video so much better. Love you guys.
You can just tell the amount of emotions. Definitely a day theyll never forget
The excitement and pure joy just makes the video so much better
And that mother's sponsorship was so damn good 😂
20:37 🥺😭😭 these words resonate so so hard. Anyone needing closure or feeling regretful needs to hear this.
It’s crazy how Jeremiah has no fear behind the wheel of any of these vipers 😂
Fr dude can fuckin drive
When I was 16 I was able to drive second gen Vipers at the Skip Barber racing school at Laguna Seca... I remember getting in and the guy telling me to use second and third gear going around the skid pad. It had so much power, you did not need to worry about first gear. So much FUN to drive!
You guys are slowly but surly getting up there with OG Top Gear quality videos I love it
You know.... these guys could actually do a legit version of Top Gear for the US.
@@seanj3667 Watch CarTrek!
I don’t believe there is a car guy in the universe who doesn’t want to drive a viper at least once. It’s just so iconic.

Best one I've seen in a while. The boys look so happy, awesome seeing how far Nolan has grown and the mothers add 100%
I felt like the viper is one of those few cars that is impossible to hate
Most people love and respect them. They just didn't like that it destroyed their favorite brands. Dodge didn't sell many 5th gens because it lacked an auto. You'll never sell Vipers to Porsche guys with manual transmissions lol.
@@PyroBlonde7777 makes me wonder how much can the time that was set by the viper on nurburgring could be improved with automatic transmission
@@katekarin3838 Depends on the driver I suppose. We still do not have a legit 5th gen ACR lap time. The lap we got was done by private owners without pro drivers. The fastest lap (sub 7 minutes) was cut short near the end when the diff locked up. Not to mention it was raining both track days. But I'm sure a DCT would make sub 7 minute runs more consistently.
@@katekarin3838 and an actual team with money. it was crowd-funded wasn't it? And I think they got the driver last minute and they couldn't practice much if at all because of weather conditions. So, considering all of that, the time is even more impressive
Reckon? I don't know many people that hate them - From australia though so pretty much none exist here. I think most ppl are aware of their issues though : )
Jobie and his Mom ❤️ adorable ad, guys! Knocked it out of the park, and Nolan, nice ad break in the viper for the new shirts, that was pro AF ❤️😊
Watching two relatable guys get to experience something like this is awesome. It’s not worthy of an Oscar because it’s not acting but it still had me feeling the feels just like they did. I’m glad y’all have this channel.
Never has the driving skill difference been more obvious between Jerry and Nolan, than in this video. Good stuff.
who’s better
skinny or fat?
I live in a small town in the Uk where someone has owned a Viper engined SRT Ram for many years. You didn't see it on the road very often but you could always tell when it has been past because you felt the kitchenware rattling, it was like distant thunder
Now THIS is how you do a "list" episode.
This was rad... and was cool to see everyone having some real fun
Something I found interesting. When Jerry is driving, he's all serious and concentrated. Then when it's over here all giggles. While Nolan is freaking out in the passenger seat
as said it’s a very unforgiving car, can’t give it the chance to kill you
When the driver says they are scared the entire time, that's terrifying for the passenger guaranteed!!
JEEEZE Those blue stripes on the GTSR look AMAZING! holy buckets, you needed to have added another clip of moving across that paint reflecting the sun. Beautiful!
The concentration on Jerry’s face during his 4th gen lap was so visible. He was pushing that car as far as he could
We gonna need a full series of these Mother's commercials.
Without a doubt, the gen 2&5 coupes are the Vipers to have IMO. Such beautiful and timeless lines...
Too bad it’s probably never coming back…
@@faheemabbas3965that may not be such a bad thing. Let it die a legend! If they brought it back now they’d probably make it hybrid and available in automatic. 🤮🤮
@PalmTree8772 same
As someone who has owned all V generations (and current Gen V owner), it brings me so much joy to see you guys enjoying these cars!!
Bro, you're living the dream! Did you upgrade your OG Viper over the years? Like I'm genuinely curious and jealous lol
If the Viper wasn’t your childhood dream car your lying to yourself! Thanks for letting us drive it vicariously through you. Well done boys! 👏
Totally agree. Never been a dodge guy or even a muscle car guy but as a kid (I’m 31) there was always something so special about the Viper. Just iconic. Still maybe the best named car ever by the way lol I mean name a car with a better name than the Dodge Viper
And it still is ! Get excited every time I see one! I want one so bad
My dream car
I can happily say it was not
Ill say this as a subscriber from the early Science Garage and Up to Speed days - if you did this with every iconic long-running model of car, I would watch it multiple times
Absolutely love the viper and love how donut shined some light on them, such a unique car.
The fact that Nolans grandma gave him that GTS coupe model car is just so good. I love that.
The audio production in this is fantastic. Honestly one of the best sounding UA-cam videos I've ever watched/heard.
Donut is probably the funniest most informative automotive channel
Just need to bring back Up to Speed!
It’s wild seeing someone drive your car and love it so much. (Gen 1 Viper) you get numb to a car like this after driving it, and watching them gives me the feeling I had when I first got it.

@@seanj3667 nooooo, but same spec (except mine is black). It’s funny seeing them drive it, because once you know how it drives it becomes pretty tame.
By far my favorite Donut video. You rarely see these guys enjoying themselves that freaking much.
That second viper...so pretty. Nice to see these guys are exactly how I imagine I'd be if given this incredible opportunity.
Such a shame that they cancelled this beast of a car❤
Okay I normally skip the in-video ads, but this one was adorable and I watched through the whole thing. Make sure Zach lets his mother know she did a fantastic job with this ad!
It's such a shame that they stopped making the Viper. That 8+ liter v10 always shocked me since I was a child since in Europe we tent to consider anything bigger than 3 liters a massive engine😂

This will go down as one of my FAVORITE Donut episodes. Thank you guys for making the Viper the center of attention yet again. ❤ 🐍
14:38 to clarify, it's tuned by McLaren Performance Technologies in USA, not the British F1-maker.
i have been a viper fan since i was six and knowing the viper family is over is sad BUT just knowing there are still people out there who feel the same as i do and still smile when we come across one will always remind me that even the greatest things will have to come to an end. love the vid guys 🥹
One of donuts best videos. Heart filled, suspenseful, informative. Nolan and Jeremiah 10/10.
I can't even fathom how difficult an episode like this is to put together, you guys are non-stop slinging out gold. Keep it up boys we love seeing it.
As a child I remember going thru RC car catalogues and seeing the Viper and instantly thought “That’s what a sports car is”.
I ended up with an 05 Ram single cab SRT-10 because I actually don't like driving in cars/sedans anymore, when a 2nd gen ACR was my dream car growing up( Im only 35)
That's the one you needed to drive with the T-56 instead of that 4-door dog with the auto.
Never been interested in Vipers but this video changes my mind. Looks stupidly, scarily fun.
These young men have SUCH a great job! Much love to you all🙏🏼🙏🏼
It makes me happy to see Donut boys achieving their dreams. We also need more videos where Jerry drives, dude is talented!
As a 2003 kid the Gen 4 and the GTS-R were what I grew up seeing in video games and whatnot. It’s really cool to see the history ❤️
This is my dream experience...I've been a fan since having a poster of the gen 1 on my wall. Will always be my favorite video. Such an awesome car!
5:31 Hey that's my 2001 rt10! What a cool surprise to see it pop up in this video!
I like how Jeremiah drove every Viper like it owed him a whole lotta money.
As a kid my first model car was the original viper and my obsession with this beauty started from there. Amazing to see you guys driving these beasts.
this is such a great series, im really glad you came up with this idea. seeing all the generations of some iconic cars together yet alone drive them back to back is a unique opportunity and im glad you're able to do it. the viper is a badass car and it's a shame it's gone but like nolan said we should be happy that it happened at all
I have never been more jealous in my life than I am right now watching you all have so much fun. 😁but I was smiling the whole time.
Y’all really made a great video with this one. Hit that Top Gear emotional feel that just gets car people going. It helps that I got that same viper model from my grandma as a kid. Good stuff guys keep it up!
Love this format of “coming up” and sponsor advert in the middle ! Reminds me of those early Discovery turbo shows and Powernation of early 2000s to 2010s !
Great video on the 5 generations of Viper. I was fortunate to pick up a Gen V at the bottom of its depreciation. Car gave me anxiety for a few years due to ppl staring or want to race you. Nice thing is even though I rack up the miles , the value is still going up.
Nolan is a man of culture; the viper was also one my favorite childhood cars. The classic Blue and white race stripes on GT were the days
This series is awesome! This is by far my favorite video of it and the ending gave me the chills. It makes me happy to see these guys make a memory they will never forget.
I wanted one of these or a 3000GT so bad when I was in high school. They’re so bad ass. We need more sports cars these days.
Viper never failed in anything. It's simply just raw tough car for very limited community of racing-skilled drivers preffering unfiltered experience on limit. Viper is not toy for rich brats of which misunderstanding lead to numerous lethal crashes harming its reputation. Products like this have very sharp sale curve and market span is naturally short.
Big thanks to guys making this extensive review!
