People are complaining so much about lack of story or career progression. This is just pure racing and I love it. I just want some chaotic intense fun and I absolutely love Grid so far.
Great review! I pre-ordered the ultimate edition after watching some of my favorite sim racers with early access, and so far I am *not* disappointed. Really, my only gripe is that my wheel (Thrustmaster T300RS) feels a bit sloshy in the middle, although disabling the center force scale setting helped immensely.
Very nice vid! I really enjoyed Racedriver Grid 1 a ton, and was always nice to see how much detail they put into the small bodywork detail (scratches etc.)
great vid hoki !!! i feel that if you liked original grid you'll definitely love this game. full career if you're into that too with more future content being added. didn't say much of multiplayer though. MP is severely lacking but devs have acknowledged this. i suspect a future update more like F1 MP or maybe even custom public lobbies. thx again
I'll stick with PCARS, for me it's the only game I've ever played that genuinely made me feel like an actual real racing driver. Livetrack 3.0 is genius because every time you race, even on the same track it's different. It teaches you how to really drive and react to the environment and elements rather than simply remembering where puddles and other on track obstacles are like in most other games.
Awesome review. Still deciding if I should buy this and I’m glad u covered driving with a wheel. Also my wife is a big fan of Neil deGrasse Tyson, but not a fan of video games.
This review tipped me towards buying it after being on the fence for a few days. I'll definitely feel the shortcomings of the track selection (which dlc won't help because they most likely won't add career events) but my G29 is ready for some solid racing. The race length needs to be customisable though, 2-3 laps simply aren't enough.
What makes Grid 2019 different? The pure frustration of what might have been compared with what is. Spending £200.00 on a Logitech G29 wheel isn’t an option for many, buying one simply to get more from Grid 2019 is pure madness
Thanks to your opinion I know for sure that I won’t buy the game. I had both Grid 2 and Autosport and my main concern about the new part was if the handling model is so twitchy and awkward on the controller as it was in the before games. Codie’s games are just made to enjoy with the wheel! I had to use a lot of assists to slightly enjoy driving in both grids and dirt rally. It’s a shame cause otherwise this great looks great both gameplay and graphics wise and I would definitely love to play it. The honesty of your opinions is what makes them so relevant. Thank you!
Although I haven't played it yet, from your description I get the feeling that this game is somewhat reminiscent of Gran Turismo 3? Perfect middle ground between arcade and sim physics, AI drivers aren't just moving obstacles and they actually put up a fight, small but diverse car collection etc
Nice review. 👍 I've always felt the handling of the cars in grid, to be way off. That instant loss of grip with no chance to correct it feels horribly unpredictable. Since I don't have a wheel (that works lol) to improve this, then I'll be giving it a miss for sure.
Re the pad v wheel comments; I use a pad. If you go into the settings and change steering sensitivity UP to maximum, and steering linearity DOWN to zero the cars seem to handle a lot better. My driving improved considerably once I’d changed these. Apart from the AI being all over the place imo, I’m really enjoying Grid so far.
I just bought this game a week ago, it's not a bad game, nor am I crazy about it either. If you like arcade styles racing over sim racing, it's perfect for you.
As amazing as the OG GRiD was, this seems like an incremental step. Expected more tbh. Also, there are some missing vehicle physics in first person/cockpit mode. If there was a level on the dashboard, the bubble wouldn't move...at all. Lighting was impressive though!
Shift 1 had some good simulated driving mechanics, i finished game with my Logitech wheel with inside camera, it was very satisfying to do that, almost felt like i am driving for real :D
@@HokiHoshi hehe, i liked them, simple enough, but first Shift with Ferrari and other cars DLC was somehow better then Shift 2, cars physix in Shift 2 bugs much more.
Shift 1 still has the best driving model I have ever experienced. It's still my favorite racing game. I wonder how it compares to this new GRID. p.s. I hated Shift 2. Driving was off.
I don't try any other reviews except yours. How does this driving feel compare to the feel of Forza Horizon 4? Also, did you have to make any custom changes to your wheel settings for the G29? Thanks!
The wheel was pretty much plug and play for me although I did mess with the clutch dead zone as it sometimes caused me to miss shifts. Overall though the wheel feels so much better than Forza imo, I never really felt like I had control in the higher power cars in Forza and the steering always felt off, in GRID its seriously amazing, feels like a sim but just with a really nice to drive car
As someone who played the old grid, the drift system on old grid was fantastic and truly genuine for me i prefer drift system from old Grid than these shitty Need for Speed drift systems. I really feel like Grid is mostly for casual players( the type who likes racing games but not enough to play realistic racing games like Asseto Corsa). Although customization is poor on grid, i think the option to have your team with another driver, brands on ur car, winnings, leaderboard, etc. The addition of personalities to NPC's was really creative because makes you be better competitive during the race and perhaps may give you the feel your are playing against online players. I expect this game to be really fun to play.
My main problem I see with grid is the absolute lack of speed. Even at top speed it still feels like ya going really slow. Cars look floaty too. Think I'll wait for a sale.
Is destruction derby back? Because in the original I've spent 20 hours just in that mode. Something ridiculously catchy about that mode... Anyway, thank for the review.
Other reviewers say that handling feels the same on every car. Also all cars oversteer with easy correction to end slide. Even gt and prototype cars oversteer and drift. Is that the case?
Thanks for this. An informative review that told me exactly what I needed to know. I just want a pure racing experience, and this seems to be just that. GT Sport sacrificed a lot of the fun for realism, and FH4 had far less emphasis on actual racing in favour of stunts, drifting, and those crappy Horizon stories. This sounds like something I’ll enjoy.
Need for speed should never be said before gt or forza. Nice vid tho I been looking for something a lil different from the other racing games out there.
Another review I watched was extremely unimpressed with the way Multiplayer has been implemented - only option is randomly selected track and class and with AI featuring in the races !
Yep, loving the game with my g29. I actually enjoy this more than FH4. I guess I just got tired of Forza. But seriously guys, handling in this game with a wheel is amazing. FFB is not that great though.
