So I just want to make a little update - a few of you guys gave some helpful tips for finding good lobbies, etc and I did jump back in for 2 more races (mx5 cup race and another touring car one) and they did fill up and I did have time to practice and qualify! They were actually pretty fun races, clean racing all around and definitely a good example of the game being fun when it works. I did spin on a bugged curb in the mx5 though 😅 kinda forgot that can still happen...
I was actually in your lobby! I had just got back on the wheel after taking a 6 month break from Forza and I had a good time in the mx5 spec races. There was a bunch of fast drivers in that lobby and everyone was racing clean. The 3 race marshal tags might have contributed to do though. 😂
@@EGHeartattack Oh funny, someone knew me in the touring car lobby too! Yeah there were definitely some quick drivers in there & I spun on a curb pretty early on but it was still a blast fighting my way around in the mid pack, especially fine because I didn't have a tune or anything lol, but yeah everyone was racing really clean and I had some good battles the whole way through, didn't notice until the end that I wasn't the only marshall, it was quite the stacked lobby 😅
@@HokiHoshi the MX5 cup is probably one of the best events in Forza Multiplayer and i really wish it wouldn't be rotated out and it would stay permanently because its so fun
The main problem for me with FM8 that can never be fixed through updates is the lack of soul, personality and character. Going back to FM2 recently was almost a bit of a culture shock to me. Seeing how creative the menus and overall art style were, how interesting the event selection and car list were, and of course how much the soundtrack slapped. Forza used to be the "cooler" alternative to Gran Turismo, now it's somehow more sterile and neutered than it. At this point I think they should just work on the next game, if there will ever be another one after this
It feels so corporate. And unfortunately so many games and companies are heading that route. It feels so soulless lodging into the game, seeing a boring garage where i can only see 4 of my favorite cars or of 600+ cars, listening to some half baked hotel lobby music, and opening the game to the most bland menus I've ever seen. Even the forza motorsport logo is bland now
It's the same with GT7. They tried to do this mishmash of old school GT4 menus with a modern avant-garde aesthetic but it feels soulless in comparison to GT Sport.
The ugly truth.. but you tell that to its community (especially on reddit) and you'll get crucified.. people LOVE huffing copium to justify paying for this crap.. i paid for it.. and it will be the last one since i haven't played id since update 3 or 4 lol
They would have to unrecognizably redesign the whole core of the game for it to appeal to me, new tracks and cars and small technical improvements won't cut it at this point.
This is true for me with the singleplayer for sure. The multiplayer has "a good core" imo, but they would need to completely rip out and replace the "career" for me to take any interest in it at this point. I know you've also been playing through GT4 Spec II and...I mean the contrast between the two is just WILD
And yet Sony with Sophy is just mind blowingly fantastic. It's more Polyphony Digital has a culture of quality and art and leads to Sophy, while the rest are MBA morons who just want cheap garbage and it's a rush to the bottom... ua-cam.com/video/2M6_AVVqf64/v-deo.html
In fairness to the game and your gripe about the practice length, the session is 17 minutes at full length, which is plenty for anything beyond the Nord or Lemans. You just joined the lobby right before the race was scheduled to start
The game STILL doesn't contain everything promised before launch. Some promises were flat out lies like the nordschleife being rescanned. The marketing STILL uses tech that isn't available to customers. Its unacceptable. They've kept to the same preplanned post launch schedule they probably have on autopilot without seriously addressing major issues when they can tweak things here and there instead.
Don't address major issues? So they didn't fix the Car Customisation then? They didn't completely re-work graphics? They aren't in the process of overhauling many car sounds? All of which was criticised by players and takes considerable work to fix?
@@Perseus7567 "...When they can tweak things here and there instead." - They removed unlocks and let you buy CP. fix? Kinda. Minor tweak to a fundamentally flawed system? Definitely. It doesn't even serve it's intended purpose anymore, and it's still worse than if it were scrapped. - They absolutely haven't overhauled the visuals AT ALL. The entire lighting model, raytracing features et, tonemapping, material quality, LOD quality, and misc assets like grass are all a massive downgrade from even promo images they post now! They raised the resolution of clouds, moved lights around in the garage, and tweaked the color grading. That's not an overhaul. - The AI is still completely broken after promising something that can compete with pros. Never got fixed. - Many tracks reuse the same surface geometry as FM5-7 despite being outdated and claiming the new physics isn't compatible. Will never be fixed. - SBMM is effectively non functional, despite the game failing to fill lobbies. Never got fixed. Stuff like better sounds or slightly improved contrast isn't fixing core issues and broken promises.
@@Perseus7567 They actually didn't completely re-work graphics. Effectively they tweaked the lighting then changed nothing about how the game looks or runs. Plus, the "we'll fix the car sounds" talk already happened during Horizon 4 to a very mediocre result. I wouldn't hold your breath on Microsoft or Turn 10 keeping that promise or doing anything more than the bare minimum.
If thiswould have been the release state of the game, it would have been an ok start. Now it is abandoned by players, for good reasons. Kinda sad, it is the first game where I have a good feeling with the controller in cockpit view.
@@NikosM112 Every time i see ac evo, i'm always conflicted (on the one hand i think it will do well, but on the other hand... if the controller support is anything like original ac, its ded on console)
In order to bring back customers, they're gonna have to do what GT7 did and basically make a Forza 2.0 update i feel like. This game is so soulless and bland compared to almost every entry before it. They need to overhaul the campaign to give us more permanent events instead of FOMO events, they need to put more care into the multiplayer and make it more competitive by adding race stats and more events. The menus need to be changed entirely to look less coroporate and more inviting. And they need to do what The Crew is doing and abandon always online
@@charlienash1050 im saying they need to do something similar. Like yeah GT7 2.0 didnt fix everything but Forza definitely needs to at least follow suit and also do WAY more to keep people on this game
@@succulenttrash3343 Forza needs an entire game development's worth of work to be anything decent after this. Microsoft knows this, hence the game's pretty much been silently confirmed to be abandoned.
@@charlienash1050 i dont even think Microsoft knows this cuz if they did they wouldn't have ever invented that 6 month Dev cycle. Stupidest thing they've EVER done.
@succulenttrash3343 Microsoft didnt invent it, its a United States law, its so companies can't continually employ "temporary" workers and never have to give them benefits etc. This isnt a new thing, its been around for a decade, theres been multiple forzas made this way. The difference with this game was the amount of time it took, coupled with the amount of temp workers. Normally the turnaround for a motorsport game was 2 years. This meant that most temp workers could theoretically be around for 3/4 of development. This game took around 4-6 years to make so odds are not one thing in the game was ever started and completed by the same person. Halo Infinite had some of the same issues and in the end both of these franchises have been severely damaged if not ruined by these development decisions.
It really does feel like that the only reason you would play this game is if you don't have access to GT7. Both games have their issues, but there's just no contest. I just wished GT7 would come to PC.
@@michaeljablonowski5014 Actually, Sony are pushing *hard* for a PC Version, its Polyphony themselves who do not want the Game on PC because there is "No PC Gaming Culture" in Japan.
@@michaeljablonowski5014 It was part of the Nvidia leak, and so far every game on that list has released on PC. I see no reason why Gran Turismo 7 wouldn't either. It's free money. The people who play GT or wanted to play GT already have it.
The removal of the upgrade system’s unlock method simply gave FM the same problems that 8 wasn’t supposed to have; a lack of progression. Instead of just reworking the system to be more engaging, less tedious, and even basic stuff like keeping the ranks on duplicate cars would’ve done a lot more to give the game progression it heavily needed. It tells me the devs simply don’t care anymore.
The "Dev's" are just a constantly Rotating Carousel of Woke, Inexperienced and Incompetent (Woke and Incompetent being Synonymous!) Interns who have, in many cases, never worked on a Game before!
I desperately wanted FM8 to be great, and I was really looking forward to its release; BEFORE I knew about every promise made to fans would be broken, just like the game. I still play FM8 from time to time (albeit rarely) bc there's genuinely some things I love about the Motorsport series. But overall, it's still a broken, hearbreaking MESS and a full year of updates later, I have zero hope that this game will ever climb out of the bottomless pit it's dug for itself. (especially when you consider the current player count... I mean, can MS and T10 really afford to keep throwing $ at a game when there are SO FEW people still even playing it?)
Hi Hoki! Thanks for this detail covers. I stopped playing FM back in December. Good to see the game has seen some pretty big improvements. Would u do a new wheel setting video based on the new state of FM? Last one was fantastic
The lack of players in races is a problem. Especially because even with a full lobby, at least half of the lobby might quit. That's just the nature of this game. It's hard to believe the few lobbies that are offered can't be filled. I think the tire model is pretty good. I hate the fact that while the physics might be ok, the ffb on a wheel is so bad that it feels no better than a vibrating joystick. I want FM to thrive because it is a fun game.
I find joining 'early', like when theres at least 10mins practice left, gets you a full lobby. The ffb I have no complaints about at all it is perfect! Its very detailed and I can even feel surfaces changing. Play with the settings.
I still play it on and off. Like you said at the end, it’s a casual accessible online racing game, and it’s really the only one on pc. I’m not sure how much I’d still play of it if GT7 ever got ported to pc tho…
If you're just looking for quick fun, but with a bit of sim depth, FH5 can kind of scratch that itch in a weird way. It's an arcade game, but with a lot of sim aspects to it. I mean, it's arcade on the outside, but you really can dive deep with it, so deep the FFB on your wheel can be adjusted to make the car feel like almost the real one.....FH5 is difficult for me to categorize tbh
Thanks, yeah I saw that there was a hotfix for update 13 that said it fixed stutters in prac/quali - all this footage was after that hotfix anyway though
I forgot this game even came out, not gonna lie. It's not even memorably shit. It's the kind of mediocre that just...slides out of your mind as soon as you memorise your grocery list
Good video. Started to enjoy FM more recently and to me the biggest problem, by far, is the utterly poor sound quality and bugs in the sound. Like, even free AC mods sound a lot better.
Nice video Hoki. I personally too have been out of the loop from around the removal of the carpg system. It is definitely nice to see that there have been noticeable changes from launch. By no means would I consider this game feature complete, but it is a huge difference of where we were before. This game was also delayed prior to launch, still hurts to see how it presents itself still. Audio cues on proxy radar was a major miss, something that I too was looking forward to to bring the crew chief in more. The crew chief was something that was flexed a bit back on pre launch promo, a shame that they didn’t bring the crew chief in more. The lobby size issue for the MP section sucks. And I have a feeling it’s not over allocation of players, but a low active player count. I’m not sure how FM handles regions and combinations for these lobbies. Skill rating is a tricky subject. I still also think it’s quite easy to rank high, but I can comfortably say that you are in the competitive bracket of players. I think that’s the curse of being in the upper echelon of players. Not calling out people’s skill, but I think the system is too easy for people, but if they made it more difficult. The rare and casual players or sometimes I refer to them as the gamepass players, would not gain a great experience and hate it more. While the game itself isn’t really done, a point you made at the end of the video, I do think it’s been fairly impressive on how much they have accomplished on cars, tracks, spec mode, replay mode, drift mode, FRR improvements, optimizations, etc. Yeah it’s not perfect per se, but they could’ve just dropped the ball and let it die. But the fact that effort is still being put in, while the cards are figuratively against them is truly a testament of dedication and passion to the studio. This is pretty much a ramble at this point, so I’ll wrap it up here. I think, as a community member, but also someone who’s a consumer and not an employee (so take this with a grain of salt), T10’s order of operations is to continue to tackle optimization, stability, FRR and AI behavior. From there, bring the cool spec and rotating series to a more permanent schedule. Now that could be wasted resources for hosting these races, I’m just thinking out loud. Take a note out of GT7 and overhaul the career. Don’t force us to learn the car on a track by making us beat a certain time. Use the crew chief to give us pointers. Where to throttle, where to extend, where to use track limits to our advantage, teach us HOW to drive. Universally. So that can directly reflect on these SP and MP races. From there, give the community more data. I’m tired of saying this as a developer and as someone who has built several stuff for the comp community. If the above is done, and more data for races, replays, spec mode, etc. is made; and the game is RELIABLE and STABLE, that is when sponsors and big name streams and broadcasts can be brought into the light. It’s all about putting your name out there, give the advertisers, the esports groups, the broadcasters, and the community tools they need to put the FM name out there. I’m just a small guy in a sea of consumers who own this game, but Forza put themselves in this evergreen title situation. There is no bail out. Continue on the track of improving the game, give the community the ability to market the game and bring in new faces, and let that cycle commence. anyway sorry for the long ramble, nice video Hoki. EDIT: I am very aware that it takes a while to choose ideas, implement them, test them and release them. But why do I feel the common theme of these big flashy game changing features being released, but it just feels so feature incomplete. Proxy Radar, but no crew chief callout Career Mode, but not teaching the player on how to race and how to read the track and how to control different types of vehicles across different classes Spectator Mode, but we cannot have 24 players + a spectator, and missing data out to allow for custom spectator suites Livery Editor, but not to the extent of FH5 with the potential shared codebase Next Gen Performance, but an open world game runs better and smoother than a track racer I'm not trying to minimize the dev's work, I just feel like a bit more time, a bit more community input, and the suits allowing more creative direction could allow for more features to be released with greater and more positive response. YYG
something i would like to mention about the performance is the framerate being awful might be because of the reflection mechanic, since this game has a different reflection then horizon 5 supporting the game engine, this means the game renders the reflections differently, and they probably did some oopsie's when making the game, this kinda proves it was rushed, but i'm actually kinda impressed that since it was rushed, it turned out to be like this which is actually very much playable....
Agreed. The game a year later feels like the bare minimum of what it should’ve been at launch. On console with a controller, it’s solid. With a wheel or on PC in general, it trails behind other sims
I've just picked up Assetto Corsa recently and one thing I noticed about playing it on a wheel is how much more stable and realistic the cars feel. For a Forza that was supposed to be more 'sim focused', the handling isn't up to scratch. Add to this the absolutely lackluster singleplayer, multiplayer problems, bugs, lack of content; and I really think this is the most disappointing Forza of all time. Really not worth it
Bro I agree so hard, I tried enjoing it but i feels like I am palying on some god difficulty mode, where even a simple car that should be fun to throw around a corner, is a battle because if I am only like 1% off the perfect line it starts to slip. I switched to the controller and it was night and day difference, the car was on rails and I was instantly putting down faster laps than I could on the wheel after having a good session of practice.
Forza released stats on the 1 year release birthday - so they have them. Why don't we?? Motorsport is about 10th's of seconds improvement, but we cannot even see how many podium finishes we have had let alone car/track/lap metrics ....
I might be the only one who absolutely enjoyed how the car rating and point system worked before update 6. I played FM for hours through Game Pass and loved it. Now they removed it, without leaving an option to toggle between the systems and it completely ruined it for me.
I'm sorry, but i've been playing it since it came out, and i have to tell you something, the game sucks, if anything it's been worse ever since release and i'm gonna tell you why. The multiplayer used to be 100x better, when the game launched we had variable weather during the race, we don't have that anymore... now the tyre choice doesn't even matter, every race in GT for example it's either Medium - Medium or Hards without pitting, soft becomes a bad choice unless for quali runs. there's no tyre management whatsoever in the game aswell, if you reduce your pace by 2 seconds a lap your tyre wear will be the same as if you're smashing them lap after lap, so... that sucks as well. The penalty system needs some work, the colisions need some work as well mainly to stop people from ruining your race by simply not breaking before a corner, some classes we can't even race because DLC cars are simply too OP. The Matchmaking does not work at all and the endurace lobby's are a failure, they're always empty, when by some miracle you manage to get 10 people to race, 50% quit at the first lap, they should increase the number of player in endurance and make it more interesting to play.
Yep, a lot of this actually comes up in the video when I tried out the multiplayer😅 I also decided to head to reddit after making this video and saw that a ton of people are having issues with FRR, random curbs are still bugging out, aerowash still seems to be an issue, etc etc
22:52 Translated by Google: If Forza Motorsport really wants to be a simulator and not a video game, it should learn from other simulators such as the upcoming Assetto Corsa EVO, Gran Turismo 7, Iracing, WRC EA Sports and others.
Thanks. Great video! Between having Forza 5 and The Crew Motorfest, I just kinda forgot about Motorsport. It just doesn't motivated to keep you playing.
I couldn't even get it to work - (a lot of MSFT stuff on my comp, including their store is currently not working, and nothing short of a full reinstall of windows (10) is going to fix it :( ). Since I'm getting a new compooter next month, anyway, ICBA with that. I have Motorfest/The Crew 2 along with a load of basic sims, though, and yet here I am, playing American Truck simulator, instead :D
Touring Series is and has been completely dead in my experience with the game. This game fills a very specific niche for me, which is just to scratch the itch when I want to race GTE/3s, but don't have the energy to hop in the sim after work. The Endurance lobby is usually reasonably populated until about 11p Eastern, where it starts to go from 12-18 car lobbies (I think I have only ever seen one full lobby in my 225 hours of gameplay) to something more like 5-10 car lobbies, and once you hit midnight it drops to 3-6 car lobbies. Still kinda sad considering the hype this game had before launch. As for the practice time thing, you can get 20mins of practice, but you have to join the second the lobby opens. Races are held on a server side schedule, and practice starts as soon as a lobby opens for people to join, regardless of whether there are actually players there or not. In the video, you joined two races that were already about 13mins into their 20min practice sessions. I do think they should give you more time though, maybe make a dedicated 10min quali session so you don't have to do quali during your practice time? Even if you do camp the menu and join the second the lobby opens, you still only have 20mins to do both practice and quali, which is just not enough. They should also add some sort of visual that shows you that the race you're about to join has already started their practice session as well as the practice time remaining so that those who are willing to wait to have a full practice session can find those races more easily instead of having to learn about it the hard way.
The older games might have had better career modes but they didn't have free play like we have now, at times you were limited to certain cars on certain tracks, which isn't the case with free play. Not saying it shouldn't be better, but if it wasn't for the reward cars, I would happily stick to free play.
I dunno man. I didn't find any noticable issues with AI. I never bumped into them nearly as much. But I could see how me driving style differs from yours, so I guess your point is valid from one perspective. And it's not like i learnt controller-sim driving from Forza, i got that all from the Codemasters F1 games, so it's not like I learnt to drive around Forzas AI or something.
Btw, I've mentioned this so many times on so many videos related to fm8, like 70% of the car models, even from just fh5, they completely messed up the rim, manufacturer color and in many cases the car models themselves from older games, idk how or why but it's extremely frustrating
Played the game from launch, despite the bugs. But I couldn't get past the crashes. Uninstalled, came back and still the same exact crash when I finish a race. Exactly at the last lap when I cross the finish it crashes every second or third race I do. Unacceptable.
I think the lack of true competition in racing games now really stifled innovation and improvements. There really aren’t many options in the sim-lite genre, and the main two options aren’t universally available. So without other games to compare to apart from GT, MS looked at overall industry trends. Gran Turismos devs still retains the Japanese craftsmanship ethic that has faded out of a lot of Japanese businesses in recent years, so they didn’t struggle with direction like a Western dev would.
They should really be ashamed about this game. It has so so much potential. I just really wish they wouldn’t have messed it up so bad. It’s crazy that they think this is acceptable. I haven’t played it in many months and don’t plan on playing anytime soon. Thanks for the great content man keep it up
It’s great now BUT it should have been this way since day one no excuses. No more live service games full stop. This update 13 is definitely the best update so far. The career will be fixed aka removal of FOMO soon as the devs indicated.
The positives would be it has a large car list, cars are also customizable, they add free cars and tracks, works well on a controller, can work well with a wheel after a lot of adjustments and theres a decent amount of customization options for races in free play. The main negatives for singleplayer are, career mode is pretty useless other than getting the fomo cars, the ai can be fast but for the most part they are truly awful and they can't seem to fix it after actively updating it numerous times in the past 9 months. To really get the most out of the single player, you kind of need to create your own fun. I personally like doing endurance races, so I set up races in particular ways to get the most out of the ai. They have their quirks and when you know what they are you can try to make them usable. If you have gamepass, theres no reason not to try out the game. O dont know how much it costs but I personally wouldn't recommend anyone pay over $20 for this game.
Motorsport just feels like yet another game, and none of the things it does are better than other games. People keep saying Forza's amazing on a controller, no it isn't. GT has been better for years, some sims now have controller filtering that far surpasses Forza's. Physics wise, Motorsport improved in some areas and regressed in others for a net neutral when it comes to the driving feel. Again, why would you play this instead of other games? I guess handling and physics is very subjective, but for most this is "Forza again". These QoL improvements are far too few and far too late, and important sim stuff is still missing like mirror and seat adjustments, HUD settings, even the menus feel terrible for mouse usage. The terrible 2 car a month FOMO is worse than GT7, the events are boring, the AI can't be raced against, the game runs bad, and so on... Why bother?
I always wished for Ai in single player mode was more flawed, like making mistakes and not always following the racing line and not braking in the most random places imaginable. But it seems like no change was made since motorsport 6 and it affects how little there is to do if you get bored of online or vice versa.
12:36 I have this issue too. I believe it's been like this since the game launched. The first about 30 sec while in the pits menu, game just stutters. I have a feeling it's something to do with shader optimization of the map itself. Like the game has to do this for every single track. Also about the frame pacing comparisson. I haven't benchmarked it myself but i do notice that the framerate doesn't feel as smooth as it should. Also i think there is a camera stutter issue.
This stutters in the beginning is happening because of the custom liveries. Just disable the custom liveries for AI and other players and those stutters will disappear.
Played it yesterday for the first time since moving over to ACC and it's horrendous, drove the Porsche 963 and the handling is just terrible so I very quickly exited and went back to ACC
Translated by Google: This may sound absurd but it's the truth, Wreckfest offers you a multiplayer experience a thousand times better than Forza Motorsport in every aspect. The best thing is that we will soon have a Wreckfest 2.
I just play this game at this point because it's all I got. ACC's too sim for me and I can't afford a wheel, can't afford a PS5 to get GT7, all the other racing games available are either full of microtransactions, mobile games or PC-exclusive indie titles. I fucking hate it. Oh, and Horizon 5 refuses to work for me as well, limiting my options even FURTHER. I just want a good racing game on Xbox, dude...
Black Color. The Toyota Supra didn't have black early on if I'm not mistaken. The colors were dark blues. 8E3 Dark Blue Metallic, 8G5 Dark Blue Pearl, 8J3 Blue Metallic. I assume they had a plain black too for 91 & 92. My assumption is the devs took colors from the wrong years, using the early colors. It's literally just plain black. The other colors are specialized manufacturer colors.
They did offer them in black during the year ('92) that the ingame car is modeled after! I think it was literally just called "black" but iirc there was a "black mica" before that. I own a '91 mk3 myself that's black
Honestly, the part that I hate the most is the penalties. How is it to somebody heartbreak in front of you you hit that person then hit another car and then you get a or already penalty 4+ it’s ridiculous
BUILD FROM THE GROUND UP. KEKW! -Recycling from previous game. -Terrible multiplayer penalty and competition system. -I'm a PC player and even though my FPS lock is on, having to play in multiplayer with it locked to 60 fps. Ridiculous! -Final game is complete downgrade for graphics. -Infinite loadings, server crashes, poor network error always, game crashes , game replays bug still in the game 5-6 months after its launch. -The sound file of many cars in FH5 is also perfect, but when the same car comes to Motorsport, the sound file is a trash, has nothing similar with reality. -Playing or racing with AI Bots are painful. They are like butchers, they are unpredictable. -Unupdated car list. For a game released in 2023, it is really annoying to use old model versions from past Forza games. Most of the things I listed above are problems that have persisted since the game was released. People who play and love the game wanted to give it some time to fix these, but at this point they see that nothing has been done, so they don't have many players anymore. In fact, the only thing keeping the game alive is Microsoft Game Pass. A game where negative comments are removed, positive comments were made about the game through fake accounts. And later this game received the best sports/racing game award. LOL. If you have a race track that you love and are looking for a simcade-like game with a gamepad. Also you don't have a PS5 for GT7. Do not buy the game at the current prices, be sure to wait for it to be discounted by more than %50. The only reason I play this game because I don't have a PS5+GT7. I love Nurburgring and SPA Francorchamps. I like to spend time lapping in these tracks. I don't have a wheel set, only have a gamepad.

And later this game received the best sports/racing game award > Was the only non-yearly Triple A racing game released in 2023. Of course it won, not exactly a conspiracy.
13:32 that’s the problem (like there’s only one, but this is the biggest for me) with the AI in this game, the farther back you start, AI between you and lead are just running interference, they’re not racing.
It's because of their stupid drivitar system, where drivatars learn from real players. Because this is exactly how real players are: You have the good real players, which are mirrored by the AI in 1st or 2nd, and then you have the average drivers (mirrored by the AI in the midfield driving very average) and then you have the slowest/worst players who are mirrored by the ai at the back who don't even race you. This problem with the drivatars has always been a thing since they added Drivatars, even in the Horizon games.
Mate, are you sure the settings for the frame rate are not locked? Because on the online races, the frame rate is locked up to 70(it usually stays around 72). I have a i5 12600K and a 3080 ti and my frame rate when I am not online will stay around 80 fps, at 4k, settings on high/ultra. I think the game might too long to recover from the launch, and by then, people will be playing other stuff. They might still have a chance to save the game, but they would have to perform a miracle to get this game looking like the trailers and with a good AI. On the other hand, to me, this is one of the most enjoyable games, when it comes to driving the cars. It is really rewarding and fun, but too bad that the majority of the other aspects of the game are fu***.
Played the game again for the first time in 6 months this past week. Penalties seem to have gotten slightly better, but off track penalties are inconsistent as all hell. Rating system is still as irrelevant as ever, lobbies don't fill and like half the grid quits on lap 1 and if not, forza glue turns the slightest contact into a massive crash. We had to wait a year for spectate mode only for them to add back exactly what we already had in FM7 without improving it. The AI is unusable, the damage model is either 100% or 0%, the singleplayer feels like nothing but busywork. The changelogs for the updates seem to reflect the actual changes very inaccurately at best, aerowash for example is still an issue despite it allegedly being fixed multiple times. Most of the cars they add end up being meaningless bc they aren't used in online or even worse have no other cars in their class, like the new Trans Am Mustang Boss for example. The changes to the weather system and introducing dynamic weather almost passed me by bc the weather in featured multiplayer is always static. Add to that the still everpresent bugs and the godawful performance and even after a year of updates you have a game that is barely functional. And that's a real shame, because underneath all this is a really enjoyable and rewarding handling model and we all know that the game can be fun. Unfortunately at this point it's too late to save the game, I just hope that the developers learn the right lessons from this, but I have my doubts.
dosen't the IA of FM8 based on otrher players game? I mena, like the IA use race data from another player that may have needed to break in a turn that don't need brake and other deatils like that?, instead of relaying on a programmed IA
I find you need to quit the session and then join again to find a good server. Also, if you get in early you'll have 15+ min of practice/quali. Overall tho, I do agree that the game is mostly a bit of a disaster. It's very depressing that there is literally no other racing sim that's controller friendly AND has active ranked multiplayer on PC. If you have a wheel and pedals there is quite a lot of options, but on a controller? Nothing really but FM.
I've been playing constantly since the game came out and unfortunately, it sometimes still feels as if the game is still in beta testing. But apart from all the nasty little bugs that could be fixed quickly and easily which T10 just doesn't do, I don't think the game will ever completely satisfy people who are actually into motorsport and racing. Why? Because match making and penalties are still totally erratic and just frustrating. The key problem is rules and culture around it. The average player comes from FH5 or similar and wants to race a little. Since the game doesn't really teach you about racing rules, most FH5 players will accept the penalty system's judgement as the "truth". An argument I'veoften heard is "I wasn't in the wrong! See, I didn't get a penalty, which means I was right in bumping you off the track". And it's exactly that "gap" in mentality between the FH5 player that wants to try out FM and the motorsport enthusiast, that you just cannot bring together.
The rating and matching system is broken. You can't match on the go. They need to do matching based rating at the end of practice, and fix rating so not everyone can be 4999 rated. No one should be. It should only be a theoretical possibility for 1 person at a time. I actually got a bit of a response that they may look at it in the insider 22:24 forum, but it's not a priority and would require major code changes. They basically blew it off.
This is why I think we need Government Level Quality Control, so that a Game *Cannot* be Legally Released to the Public unless it is *Finished* ! No more Pre-Alpha/First Playable Launches! *Enough* ! its time for *Government Intervention* Now! *That* is how fed up I am of this, Games launching, at *Full Price* , while still in *Pre Alpha!* ,Happening!
Sadly not enough, and i dont think i will bother with it, i stick with gt7, i wait to buy assetto corsa evo instead look far more intresting, could be the death of fm on pc. Fm really failed to put any pressure on gt7, witch that game really needed, maybe ac evo can do that when it hit ps5. But dont expect it to hit consoles until at least 2026 maybe even 2027
cant belive its been a year already but sadly i havenot played the newish game and i will not ever play motorsport again those who make these games dont even know thier cars like one point they sad they fixed the ferrari 488 but its the 458 who had the broken body kit i am hoping for those who make fh6 they havent taking inspiration from motorsport
Hopefully Microsoft has learned its lesson from the botched launches of this and Halo Infinite. Halo made a huge turnaround with some new leadership, but it was too late and most people had abandoned the game, and I feel like no matter what they do to this and no matter how it may end up people have already moved on. I don't know what they were thinking with a "shove an incomplete game out the door because its going to be the 'platform moving forward' and finish it along the way" release model for their flagship franchises.
See games like this are bad for me because I'm a car collector. I have to experience and fiddle with them all. Single player is such an insane timesuck though to win said cars. FH5 takes like an hour to win that month's new car, FM2023 takes so much longer not least because the AI is so awful I'm constantly having to rewind to avoid their insane behavior. This game can be good, but when they didn't even bother to get really simple things right before they even launched the game, I don't have the highest hopes of them fixing it now. Especially when all that fixing is to just get the game to where it was supposed to be over a year ago. Like what were they doing for six years ffs?????
It's interesting how this is the perfect example of "to each their own". I've been having quite a bunch of fun with FM since launch with my far-from-bleeding-edge sim rig (TS-XW on a Playseat Challenge, playing on XSX). It's very immersive for me, everything handles great, and the variety of cars makes the game pretty interesting, especially compared to other sim titles that have a more limited car selection. Far from a perfect game, but I actually appreciate the no-frills presentation way more than I yearn for a game with more "fat" on it in terms of extra, non-essential content.
Exactly, i and plenty of others enjoy the game and its racing aspect even on controller. Obv its nowhere near perfect, not even good really but there’s still fun to be had. Ppl just wrote the game off at launch and continue to spew negativity on it
Also, the thing I appreciate the most in terms of updates is the drastic decrease in FOMO rewards locked behind single-player tours (via the new Challenge Hub). That was absolute crap, plain and simple.
When any racing sim compares it's AI to Sophy that learned to drift in unimaginable ways, it's clear how much AI has fallen behind Gran Turismo 7 - ua-cam.com/video/2M6_AVVqf64/v-deo.html
Man. I still really enjoy the base of this game, and the racing mechanics themselves are really good. It just feels like a ateipped sown version of the older titles.
I had to stop playing this a while back. The game performance is so bad. I can play horizon 5 capped to 144 with no issues but this game hard locks constantly. I worked with their support team for weeks. Sent them all the video footage, logs, and files they asked for. Ultimately they were just like 'welp we got no idea, gonna close the ticket now.' On top of that, the game is just not fun and the AI is trash. I'll stick to horizon to scratch my racing itch. Much better game.
What do you need to do for better lobbies anyway? It feels like its a 1/10 chance to get a remotely competetive lobby
Even the forza motorsport logo is bland now
I kinda have to disagree but go off
FM4 is the correct approach to a more serious tone imo. Instead of neutered and boring, it felt more authentic and classy.
It's no surprise once you realise there was no culture at Team 10 due to limited time staff contracts that meant a high turnover.
It's the same with GT7. They tried to do this mishmash of old school GT4 menus with a modern avant-garde aesthetic but it feels soulless in comparison to GT Sport.
It's a game made by a group of rotating interns. That's what Microsoft wanted. These are the results.
Thank Goodness the 18/6 Contract is *illegal* in the UK so Horizon 6 won't be affected like this!
Motorsport has fallen far since Motorsport 4. A real damn shame frankly.
FM4 was my first and last Forza game. I'm glad the memories haven't been tainted by this title
Truth
The ugly truth.. but you tell that to its community (especially on reddit) and you'll get crucified.. people LOVE huffing copium to justify paying for this crap.. i paid for it.. and it will be the last one since i haven't played id since update 3 or 4 lol
Yep 4 was epic but I guess games were made with passion in mind not about making the shareholders happy.
It's such a shame 😢
They would have to unrecognizably redesign the whole core of the game for it to appeal to me, new tracks and cars and small technical improvements won't cut it at this point.
This is true for me with the singleplayer for sure. The multiplayer has "a good core" imo, but they would need to completely rip out and replace the "career" for me to take any interest in it at this point. I know you've also been playing through GT4 Spec II and...I mean the contrast between the two is just WILD
Nah, not really
Red Bull liveries tend to cause drivers to go wide on turns and keep position... haha.
Crazy how all the machine learning and highly complex algorithms result in AI drivers that arguably drive worse than in games from 10+ years ago.
I could almost handle the "I will hit you from behind" but I HATE the "I will park on the apex in front of you".
I forgot about this game. I played it for 3 days after release and it was so bad that I just forgot about it. Crazy it's been a year 😂
Same, played like a week and uninstalled. Saw the update and drift mode notification on my Xbox hub and could care less
@@Perfumery_by_Sabin *Couldn't care less
If the UA-cam channel Honest Game Trailers made an honest trailer for Forza Motorsport (FM8), what would it be like?
Spectate being a year into the game for 1.0 was.. a choice.
Good thing Horizon trained up Spectate-less casting as a medium
We're battle hardened from the chaotic mess of Horizon race casting
Highly doubt it was a choice
@@Perseus7567 "...When they can tweak things here and there instead."
- They removed unlocks and let you buy CP. fix?
Clear it needed more time but they prioritize investor who could've made more money if they were made to wait

Gran Turismo 7's 2.0 update was barely anything and didn't fix that game at all. So it will do even less here.
I just wished GT7 would come to PC.

agree with your conclusion though. Monthly and sometimes bi-monthly updates are boring only excitement is tracks but it’s so slow.
The ai braking for no reason REALLY pisses me off...like, why? its just bad.
Assetto corsa evo might actully be a good pick when it releases
Depending on when you played it, the stutters came with the last update and were patched recently
Thanks, yeah I saw that there was a hotfix for update 13 that said it fixed stutters in prac/quali - all this footage was after that hotfix anyway though
@@HokiHoshi ah I see. Welp. Hasn’t happened on my end maybe coz I’m on Xbox and not PC

Proxy Radar, but no crew chief callout
Career Mode, but not teaching the player on how to race and how to read the track and how to control different types of vehicles across different classes
Spectator Mode, but we cannot have 24 players + a spectator, and missing data out to allow for custom spectator suites
Livery Editor, but not to the extent of FH5 with the potential shared codebase
Next Gen Performance, but an open world game runs better and smoother than a track racer
I'm not trying to minimize the dev's work, I just feel like a bit more time, a bit more community input, and the suits allowing more creative direction could allow for more features to be released with greater and more positive response.
YYG
something i would like to mention about the performance is the framerate being awful might be because of the reflection mechanic, since this game has a different reflection then horizon 5 supporting the game engine, this means the game renders the reflections differently, and they probably did some oopsie's when making the game, this kinda proves it was rushed, but i'm actually kinda impressed that since it was rushed, it turned out to be like this which is actually very much playable....
Yup. People wanted a grind in their racing games, they added a grind, and people threw a hissy fit.
Can't win with gamers.
Damn they added the credits for car parts one update after i gave up on AFKing cars to build them the way i want
Yep, a lot of this actually comes up in the video when I tried out the multiplayer😅
I also decided to head to reddit after making this video and saw that a ton of people are having issues with FRR, random curbs are still bugging out, aerowash still seems to be an issue, etc etc
Go figure, play to win still reins supreme? SMH hate that shit. Like the bone shaker was

I couldn't even get it to work - (a lot of MSFT stuff on my comp, including their store is currently not working, and nothing short of a full reinstall of windows (10) is going to fix it :( ). The game that made me keep an Xbox since it was released is now just a soulless shell of what it used to be. It's sad
This game feels like what gt sport was to gt7
The multiplayer does have the best car combat since Mad Max.
It's been straight downhill since they got rid of the Fuijmi Kaido track.
I do enjoy it, but its days are limited. Wait till AC-Evo hits the store and MP lobbies in FM will be single player.
Parks car next to blue sky background
Complains about greenish blue tint
Btw, I've mentioned this so many times on so many videos related to fm8, like 70% of the car models, even from just fh5, they completely messed up the rim, manufacturer color and in many cases the car models themselves from older games, idk how or why but it's extremely frustrating
I've seen a massive improvement in performance over the year on my midrange PC. The game is in a good place now compared to the disappointing launch.
Forza needs a reinvention at this point. I used to love when this game was top dog.
What's the news about removing FOMO? I missed that
I'm featured in a clip, winning in life
Question. If you have no interest in online play, does this game still offer a decent enough single player? Or its hollow through and through?
@ thanks for the breakdown! Sounds like it’s a pass for now!
The HTCC Series 2 All-Stars race will be held in the Forza Motorsport Void 🙂
The benchmark is jacked up. It never says the correct information. Whenever I test the benchmark it feels like it's eating my computer.
big companies should generally stay away from video games
I am very happy with just ac1, even if ace bombs ac1+mods+community is still GOAT
I ended up in an endurance race by myself last once. It definitely wasn’t fun hot lapping for 30 some odd laps lol.
I find it hilarious they added drifting without open lobbies. Wtfff
Played it yesterday for the first time since moving over to ACC and it's horrendous, drove the Porsche 963 and the handling is just terrible so I very quickly exited and went back to ACC
Translated by Google:
This may sound absurd but it's the truth, Wreckfest offers you a multiplayer experience a thousand times better than Forza Motorsport in every aspect. The best thing is that we will soon have a Wreckfest 2.
I’ve been playing Forza since the very first one on the regular Xbox. I played this Forza for all of about a week and uninstalled it….
The most boring Forza in the entire franchise
They need to fix replays. Replays have been bad since the original Forza Motorsports.
Difficulty must have been set to 'Max'.
LOL
Honestly, the part that I hate the most is the penalties. How is it to somebody heartbreak in front of you you hit that person then hit another car and then you get a or already penalty 4+ it’s
ridiculous
I’m on PC and my game sits in the low 70s what do you mean ? You don’t have to play at 60 online
-Recycling from previous game. > Only a limited number of cars and tracks in the world.
-Terrible multiplayer penalty and competition system. > Debatable. I think it's fair in 99% of cases.
--I'm a PC player and even though my FPS lock is on, having to play in multiplayer with it locked to 60 fps. Ridiculous! > Sounds like a hardware issue.
-Final game is complete downgrade for graphics.> Best looking Forza Motorsport yet.
--Infinite loadings, server crashes, poor network error always, game crashes , game replays bug still in the game 5-6 months after its launch. > Almost all of these are hardware issue... again.
The sound file of many cars in FH5 is also perfect, but when the same car comes to Motorsport, the sound file is a trash, has nothing similar with reality.> Only good point.. which they are also now working on fixing.
-Playing or racing with AI Bots are painful. They are like butchers, they are unpredictable. > Surely unpredictability is a good thing? It'd be more boring if they all acted the same every single time... I think you meant they're just bad drivers and TOO predictable.
-Unupdated car list. For a game released in 2023, it is really annoying to use old model versions from past Forza games. > Again, only a limited number of cars in the world.
A game where negative comments are removed, positive comments were made about the game through fake accounts.> Source? Or just unable to believe that people actually like a game that you don't like?
And later this game received the best sports/racing game award > Was the only non-yearly Triple A racing game released in 2023. Of course it won, not exactly a conspiracy.
Did they ever fix the whole reverse draft issue from way back?
They improved it but it does still exist :/
If they had this much updated within the first 3 months of launch, the game would probably have been considered "Good" by then.
Not one mention of how they nerfed manual w clutch ruining the entire point.
It is ready.
Looks like the servers being dead is the main reason for not playing. Which is why the servers are dead
Open Trackday lobbies when
It's interesting how this is the perfect example of "to each their own".
Delusional.........
@@thewalkerxx479 having an opposing opinion and actually enjoying something is “delusional”….? Nice.
@@thewalkerxx479 having fun using a new word you learned today bud? Hope so. Cheers
Needs VR
Still the developers do not respect the community.
When any racing sim compares it's AI to Sophy that learned to drift in unimaginable ways, it's clear how much AI has fallen behind Gran Turismo 7 - ua-cam.com/video/2M6_AVVqf64/v-deo.html
This is what happens when you have no competition. Such a fall from grace with this company
at this point, id take the grind fest that is GT7 over FM8.... and GT7 feels better... just wish the game would come to PC...
I use Motorsport 6 as a baseline. If it's not as good as Motorsport 6, not gonna bother. They still have work to do.
Man. I still really enjoy the base of this game, and the racing mechanics themselves are really good. It just feels like a ateipped sown version of the older titles.
I gave up after fm7. I tried to play FM but it just lacks everything a full paid game needs
Thank you for keeping me from buying it. I grew tired of horizon and wanted something "new" but this clearly still isn't it.
Ignore him. Everything he's whined about in this video were just him issues.
