What u joint did you use to mate the drive shaft to the transmission slip yoke? Or did the factory yoke fit the Th 350? Is the S10 driveshaft to Th350 a S44 to 1310 Series ? The U-joint you show for the rear is a S44 to 1350 series, so it would make sense that the U-joint from the shaft to the trans. slip yoke would be a S44 to 1310. Just checking for my TH350 shaft I am gong to put together in case the Th400 doesnt work out.
@@304customsgarage I used the universal drive shaft loop just like the one you have in this video.. I had to add some flat bar to each end and it went in fine. I could send you a picture of it in the truck if you send me an email address. Also, I took the TH 350 out and installed the TH 400 and other than changing the universal joint I didnt have to modify the drive shaft. It fit as is. I thought I would have to shorten it but I didnt. I also mounted my trans cooler under the truck back under the bed near where the spare tire holder used to be. I used a larger fan cooled trans. cooler with -8 AN fttings and lines. Cooler has a t-stat inline that turns the fan on and off as needed. Winter weather has sort of stopped my progress, but I do have the new engine and trans. in the truck and have driven it a bit before the cold weather hit.
I plan to mount my trans cooler in similar location actually. What made you decide to switch to the th400? In the future I have plans to change to that transmission myself. How was the fit under the truck?
@@304customsgarage I was going to a new engine with about 500 hp and 500 ft. pounds of torque and a friend of mine made me a good deal on the TH400 so I had it gone thru and beefed up a bit even. I just thought the TH 350 might not hold up to the new engine. It fits fine, I am curently trying to get the shift points higher so I can leave it in drive and not shift it manually. I have bought a second governor and have put lighter weights on it but have not installed it yet. I dont have a nice shop like you so the winter weather has shut me down for now.
Yeah I understand that, having the shop helps tremendously of staying out of the weather. I will eventually swap to the 400 someday myself when it's time for more hp/Tq
Hi as far as the drive shaft to rear and ujoint I don't see why it wouldn't but don't know the measurements for a Vega so I can't confirm the compatibility
I never understood why the have treads on the rear flange. The pinion yoke has threads.
Thanks for the walkthrough. I will be doing this shortly.
Great info! Thanks for the part numbers!
Almost Ready....🏁🏁🏁
Trying my best to get it ready for a test drive this year with "cutting corners"

Im going to wait to do the drive shaft loop last. Bought a 2nd S10 drive shaft to have one for the TH350 and one for the TH400
Yeah after looking at it it will be pushed down the list to one of the last things

Was the th350 yoke 1310 spicer? What u joint did you use for trans yoke to stock shaft? Is the s10 shaft 1310?
Can you make an adapter to go between the rearend yoke and the drive shaft yoke thats the right thickness to move the drive shaft more into the trans
You mean a spacer. You could but with longer bolts means more stress on the bolts.
Are you planning on retaining the factory fuel tank or using a fuel cell?
fuel tank for now but eventually i will be swapping to a fuel cell ( my plan anyway)
8.8 rear fit in the s10
Yes they will people run them stock width and also Narrowed
If my 1350 flange yoke keeps snapping even after a driveshaft Berna balanced and new support bearing why would it b?
Will this video work for a 1976 vega Chevy v/8 to 8/8 Ford rearend Thank you
Will this work

Thanks for the reply
Is your transmission a long tail or short tail ?
is the truck short or long bed
