  • Apologies for the lower audio. Still mastering this whole process as it uploaded lower then it was playing in Final Cut. All grace is appreciated!
As a professional photographer and videographer, I have learned that BURN OUT is a REAL THING. When creatives reach their dreams of being self employed, sometimes that passion can dwindle as you try to pay bills, feed your family, and please your clients. Your passion now is back into the world that you wanted to escape in the first place. I needed to get back to a place where I loved taking photos and video for me and not for a paycheck. The Fuji X100 series of cameras helped restore that drive. This video discusses why the Fuji X100v has become the camera that never leaves my side!

Great video dude. I can't believe the number of professional photographers that have piles of gear that are getting back to the basics of photography and going out with less gear. I got my first camera right after I graduated high school in 1977. It was a Nikkormat FT3 black body. Very simple design and was built like a tank. The X100V reminds me of cameras of old like my dad's Yashica rangefinder. I have a bulky D90 Nikon that I haven't used in a long while because it's no fun hauling gear around.
I think I am going to pick up the Fujifilm X100V to get back to the basics like so many of you professionals are doing.
    Cheers mate.

I agree, Philip. I am an amateur photographer so I don't need that delineation, but I use an X100F because of how much I love taking pictures with it. I don't think about lenses. I shoot JPEG and don't post-process. And lately I am shooting more black & white and not thinking about "tones" and fire emoji responses on Instagram. It's so liberating.

Just came across this and love how you put across your enthusiasm. just bought a second hand X100F, having initially downsized from canon full frame to Fuji XT2.. felt that I spent my time trying to decide which lens to take with me and use. Going for fixed focal length with small almost pocketable camera is great. Especially as pixel count and image quality allows cropping.

Totally agree with how as a working photographer (I’m a wedding photographer) you don’t want to edit your personal photos! Love the sample pics brotha! Which jpeg color profile did you use off camera? I’m hoping to get an x100v this weekend. I sold my Fuji X-E3 w/ the 23f2 & 50f2 cause I want a simplified approach, no changing lenses and love that they finally put a flippy screen! I shoot dual Sony a7iii’s for work w/ the GM lenses, blazing fast AF but it’s just there to get the job done. No real feel w/ the cameras. Love your videos, disocvered you as I’m watching/reading about the x100v. You’ve got me as a new subscriber! Thank you for sharing these videos.

I think it's inevitable to fall out of love of what you are doing as a job sooner or later, even if it is something you love to do. But I also believe it's our own responsibility to do things that help us fall back in love with it again, we do it for our selves and for our clients.

    • @philporto

Agreed to a point. I think we owe it to our couples to do it for ourselves so they are getting work done with passion and drive. Its inevitable if we aren't proactive. The camera that hasn't left my side has been the Olympus Pen FT. I really enjoy shooting film for personal & professional work, though much of my professional work is digital (Fuji XH1). I recently picked up the X100F (from Brandon, actually), to try shooting digital for personal work, but so far I just can't get into it. Very good reminder to those in the industry to keep being artists and not let the "professional" swallow the artist in them. Cheers!

Hey. No problem at all. I actually had eye cancer as a baby. God is good and pulled me through. I have a cataract on that eye so I have never seen from it.
