Thank you both for showing appreciation for Kiawentiio's portrayal of Katara. I don't get the hate she gets online, as her performance was good though intentionally subdued. Regarding Hahn's character and that change. I loved it because in the anime, Hahn had basically no introduction he was just there briefly and gone. They gave him more of a stoic story and knew that the princess wasn't his, but still respected everyone, including Sokka. This was a necessary change in order for the end to work. I give this episode a 7.5.
6 or 6.5. There are just some changes I struggle to get behind. A lot of poor writing, good moments stripped away from characters, and weird pacing at times.

Despite the obvious few issues at hand I am very much looking forward to a season 2. I really hope they realise that they need more episodes per season and 8 just is not enough, they cant capture anywhere near enough of the next season in 8 episodes.
Showrunner is really taking this seriously and taking in all the good and bad and really working to improve it for next season. Let’s hope that happens. I say for me it’s 8/10.
Totally agrees. Can see the showrunners are really trying their best to make it justice. If they really listen to some of the opinions and eliminate the flaws that happened in this season. Season 2 has the potential to be mind-blowingly great.
I'm watching all 8 episodes. Of course I'm huge fan Avatar: The Last Airbender (animation). So talking about for movie all episodes is very cool and amazing! Amazing effect, visual, CGI and more stuff. I'm really want next see new 2 season and more! 🙏🔥 Actor (emotions, accent, voice): 🔹Aang - Need learning be perfect (Gordon Cormier) 🔹Katara - Need learning be perfect (Kiawentiio Tarbell) 🔹Sokka - Need learning be perfect (Ian Ousley) 🔹Zuko - Need learning be perfect (Dallas James Liu) 🔹Iroh - Perfect 🔥 (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) 🔹Azula - Need learning be perfect (Elizabeth Yu) 🔹Fire Lord Ozai - Perfect 🔥 (Daniel Dae Kim) 🔹Commander Zhao - Perfect 🔥 (Ken Leung)
These are good comments. I actually liked the Aang gang actors, but I wish the writers room had figured out how to develop those characters better. Doing light is harder that doing dark. I'd say a 7.5/10.
I really like the change they did with Paku accepting Katara as a master in this version. It felt a little sahllow in the cartoon. Like he only taught Katara because she was the grandchild of the woman he loved, not because of her skill. In this, he sees that he has to adapt and changes with the times.
Hi glad you guys made it to the final episode. An answer to Olivia‘s question when she thought the fire nation priest was dead he wasn’t he was knocked out because the SD bounty, hunters animal knocks people out with the tongue that’s what happened to all the firenation priest, they were just knocked out.
I watched this version of Avatar first, and am now watching the animated show. I kept getting the feeling during this show that the bones of the story is fantastic, but that i was missing a lot of the depth and character that animation can bring. One of the more fascinating things i found when watching just the first couple episodes of the animated series is that the live action very made the main 3 very passive. The first example is when Aang appears and Katara doesn't go to catch him when he faints. It's small, but they pile up, and takes away a lot of the charm and connection.
I think part of the bonding and developing Ang that’s misses compared to the original is the amount of episodes. The cartoon has 20 for the season. That’s a lot in comparison. I thought this did a good job. Sadly Ang probably wasn’t my favorite in the original season. He’s a sheltered child which puts him at odds with the others. His development started later for me.
Yess let's goo the finale episode of the ATLA Netflix series is epic and Amazing and when aang is full on godzilla mode that was awesome and can't wait and I hope we get a season 2 of the ATLA Netflix series and this season was fantastic and fun thank you reel rejects for reacting to the live action series and reel rejects enjoy your weekend
I'm also sitting around a 75-80% range. Characters have been great for the most part. The writing and Aang are lacking but as someone who loves the animated series, this adaptation isn't that bad.

I hear what you and Olivia are saying about the time jumping and how it affected the character developments of everybody else. Do you think that this show could have benefited from being an eight episode two a 12 episode show or 10 episode show do you think having the time so they can have episodes For character development for everybody else in this season not a lot but just enough because an hour is a long time and maybe having like two more episodes just so they can be character in time span development if it was a 10 episode show do you think it could it could’ve worked being a one hour episodeI totally welcome your comment. What do you think and everybody else now I am leaning towards your camp a lot that maybe two more episodes of like filler for character development might have helped a lot.
One quick comment before I start watching your aftershow commentary all throughout the episode I was giggling like crazy with your both of your quick sarcasm to stop happening in the episode. It was probably one of the best ones yet, so I just wanna let you know that I totally appreciate, how you guys operate and do your car your live action comments during the show love you guys. See you in the after the commentary
33:05 the repetitiveness of the avatars was actually implemented in the animated show later in season 3 when Aang asks the previous avatars about what he needed to do against the Ozai and they all tell him to "you gotta sacrifice your own morals for he greater good" and Aang is actually annoyed BY the repetitiveness. So I'm genuinely curious if they ever do get a season 3 greenlit, how are they gonna to adapt that portion of plot.
i think its only kind of cringe looking when they use cgi to render gordon and when they do those flips in fight scenes. specifically gordon in the first episode at the northern air temple, then inside the koi close up in this one. as for the fight scenes, when they're thrown, it's too janky and needs to look more natural. the bending and creatures and sets are all magnificent though
Hey, here’s something I just found out I was watching UA-cam clips about avatar animated series and there was an episode. I don’t know if it was in the third season but it was definitely the fire nation and they did use the 41st as a diversion I don’t know if in the animated series I didn’t see the part of this if they said it was the same group, but they did mention the 41st as the group they were going to sacrifice😮
I never watched the animated series, but I like what this show was. I'm highly interested in uncle/nephew relationship and I would come back for a season 2.
I really enjoy the season finale episode. All I can say is I can't wait for Season 2 so I can get more of the story and hope that everything is even better for the next installment. Also I wish Amber Midthunder was playing a different character that was going to be more of a regular. That would've been awesome to have her in way more episodes. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
The acting or the lack thereof of the three leads is so distracting to be honest. Sokka has better chemistry with the other characters. I just dont believe that they are friends and then they say they are a family? Zuko is the real main character in this show.
I for one, really like this series for what it was. Was it perfect? of course not - but it captured the essence of the animated show and that’s all that matters to me. I’m pretty optimistic about it being renewed for the second season.
I didn’t see them going for the romance on this show based on how baby faced Aang is and how mature Katara looks, but after seeing some cast interviews from a couple weeks ago… NOW I see it.
@@roni2971 now he is NOT baby faced. Kiawentiio keep wearing heels to hold her height difference w Gordon 😂 I thinka it's kinda cute. Ikr! Now i see it too! I am rooting !! "You are my forever baby girl" 😂😂😂
I’m so interested how they’re going to make the Katara we see in book 4, my favorite fight scene is when she is forced to learn a certain bending. I need to see this badass again lol
@haydenberends3905 I'm pretty sure season 1 is book one, season 2 is book two, and season 3 is book 9 yall both can't count I am joking it is book three in the third season edit: although Aang has not learned any water bending/ never attempted learning fire bending at all either so they've got a fair bit to do. If they have it that he never learns any other bending I actually wouldn't be surprised that much, they skipped a fair bit of character development for him this season
Aang was always the least interesting character of the cartoon version in the first season as well. We didn't start to really connect with Aang until season 2 Chakras episode.
I have never been this early. Love your channel thank you so much for your hardwork filming/editing and sharing your time with us on UA-cam .please take care
Olivia's criticisms are so badly put, she says things that don't even make sense. Brings up the cartoon while failing to even justify how she feels is different. Katara is not a Mary Sue jeez lol. They've been showing her train all the time, thr problem with her is how her temper is different in this show. But calling her a Mary Sue when it's not that is so stupid
As much as this series is not perfect. It is still an great adaption to me. What a journey we went on once again! Sure it wasn't perfect, but it was so nice to see this story again in a slightly remixed way. I felt the spirit of Avatar with this show and I am very certain a season 2 can improve a lot of the faults we had with this first season.
Okay I just have to say the CGI in this whole show was AMAZING!!! I don’t think any other show i’ve watched other than maybe stranger things, that have had this high of quality of CGI. Especially the Ocean Spirit scene. I genuinely wonder what the budget was for this show cus it must’ve been huge. I’d overall give the show an 8/10
Unfortunately for Zhao, he's not the one who's intelligent. Azula is. She's the one that's been feeding him info to subvert Zuko. Iroh even mentions that Zhao is too well informed. As if someone smarter is helping him. And she IS. lol. If it weren't for Azula Zhao would never have even thought to try to learn about the Moon and Ocean spirits.
Well that's because he WAS. If it wasn't for Sokka. Sai would not have even had ANY air ship plans. It was Sokka who answered the weight and balance issue with relief valves and an open top to release pressure. He DID help invent the thing. Sai wasn't even close to a prototype until he saw the modifications Sokka added.
Honestly, Book 2 is where things kick into gear for me, and Book 3 is peak, so i had low expectations for Book 1. I'm pleasantly surprised, though I wish it was a longer season.
It feels like a show that COULD become great, but didn't manage to hit its stride in season one. Sometimes the pacing is weird, sometimes there's just narratively clunky moments. I mean... WHY exactly did Zhao require a magic dagger to kill the spirit? It's already supposed to be mortal. Those fish aren't really risking much to begin with if you still can't kill them without the Fillet Knife of Destiny. There's still a lot to like, though. Really hope they can tighten things up for season 2.
I wish y'all would stop trying to compare it to the original. Like one piece it's not gonna be an exact copy of the original it's it own entity. If this was an exact copy I would rather watch the animated series. It's trying to be it's own thing but agree to disagree
@40:45... Zuko cannot beat Kitara on a full moon at the end of season 1, where Kitara was acknowledged as good as master even in the animated series. They did exclude the episodes from the animation where Kitara struggled with water bending, but that's not to say she gets everything quickly. You saw her struggle with the water whip, which was better highlighted in the animation. Zuko could beat her at the begining of season 1, which we saw... but not at the end of season 1 when she'd come into her own.
What was that knife and how did the fire nation get it? How did the fire sage know all that information about the moon and ocean spirit? What is an ice moon? Btw, Zhao is dead so we probably won’t get master Jeong Jeong which is important because Aang burns Katara
Here's what didn't make sense to me. Kyoshi warns Aang about the attack on the Northern Water Tribe, but it only happens because they're chasing Aang. She should've warned him about Omashu.

It makes sense as she is touched by the Moon spirit the First and greatest water bender of them all.
We got the war balloon early aye!!!!
Our hearts STOPPED when Momo got hit 😂 We were about to tear down this show and everyone involved
For a moment I really though "Come one, not Momo! You cannot do this! DAMN YOU!"
"GODZILLA" 😂 YESSS
I can't believe the showrunners had the nerve to make us think Momo DIED!! 😤😤
Pretty ballsy move, I'll give em that.
6:55 "I SWEAR to God I will stop watching RIGHT NOW if something happens to Momo!" This was my exact reaction too 😆
Too far, show! Too far!
40:26 She kinda is a Mary Sue in this show, agreed. In the cartoon, she at least had training from Pakku, but here she just declared herself master 😂
Right?! That was my biggest issue with the show. Katara basically became a martial arts master with zero training
15:03 Zhao’s firebending master is Jeong Jeong, do you remember that episode?
I'm watching all 8 episodes. Of course I'm huge fan Avatar: The Last Airbender (animation).
So talking about for movie all episodes is very cool and amazing! Amazing effect, visual, CGI and more stuff.
I'm really want next see new 2 season and more! 🙏🔥
Actor (emotions, accent, voice):
🔹Aang - Need learning be perfect (Gordon Cormier)
🔹Katara - Need learning be perfect (Kiawentiio Tarbell)
🔹Sokka - Need learning be perfect (Ian Ousley)
🔹Zuko - Need learning be perfect (Dallas James Liu)
🔹Iroh - Perfect 🔥 (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee)
🔹Azula - Need learning be perfect (Elizabeth Yu)
🔹Fire Lord Ozai - Perfect 🔥 (Daniel Dae Kim)
🔹Commander Zhao - Perfect 🔥 (Ken Leung)
What Dallas did great as silo same for Ian
20:31 That score 😍 Goosebumps
These are good comments. I actually liked the Aang gang actors, but I wish the writers room had figured out how to develop those characters better. Doing light is harder that doing dark. I'd say a 7.5/10.
I really like the change they did with Paku accepting Katara as a master in this version. It felt a little sahllow in the cartoon. Like he only taught Katara because she was the grandchild of the woman he loved, not because of her skill. In this, he sees that he has to adapt and changes with the times.
I have been waiting for this video let's Go let's just hope there will be a book 2
Fun fact the old water master was in the cowboys with john wayne as a kid so good
the biggest Snap ever snapped in the whole wide world 9:21
22:23 No one’s perfect, that’s life 101
I watched this version of Avatar first, and am now watching the animated show.
I liked the bending in this episode, they did the fights better than in the last IMO
18:36 -- Nice Blue Öyster Cult reference!! Go, Go, Godzilla!
NGL, when Momo goes down, my immediate reaction was,"Momo is probably an expensive character to animate" 🤣
It’s the same in the cartoon fish just leaves aang on the cliff leaves
The lack of cold breath really bothers me ever since you called it out 😭
Great Reaction! This show is ok overall but Zuko and Iroh was great! 👍
@@kmjkmjkmj great don’t watch seasons 2 and 3 👍😂👋
9:43 MY FAVORITE MOMENT OF ALL 😂😂😂😂🫶🏻
I enjoyed watching the whole reaction of you guys ❤
Can't wait for season 2, hope they don't screw up my favorite character that's coming up.

Zhao, put that cookie down, now!!!
I loved watching this with you and Olivia i just really hope they make some changes in S2 because boy do they need it
I hear what you and Olivia are saying about the time jumping and how it affected the character developments of everybody else.
So I'm genuinely curious if they ever do get a season 3 greenlit, how are they gonna to adapt that portion of plot.
i dont understand the people who say the cgi is bad. its absolutely phenomenal.
i think its only kind of cringe looking when they use cgi to render gordon and when they do those flips in fight scenes. specifically gordon in the first episode at the northern air temple, then inside the koi close up in this one. as for the fight scenes, when they're thrown, it's too janky and needs to look more natural.
the bending and creatures and sets are all magnificent though
7.5 to 8 out of 10 is a fair rating! 👍♥
We need more interaction with Appa and Momo!
Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
this show needed 12 episodes that would have helped, trying to do all this with only 8 episodes wasn’t enough
My heart melted when Katara said to Aang : "- I need you". We see care, we see affection and potential romance arch in the future))
You mean book 3?
@haydenberends3905 I'm pretty sure season 1 is book one, season 2 is book two, and season 3 is book 9 yall both can't count
I am joking it is book three in the third season edit: although Aang has not learned any water bending/ never attempted learning fire bending at all either so they've got a fair bit to do. If they have it that he never learns any other bending I actually wouldn't be surprised that much, they skipped a fair bit of character development for him this season
I really hope that we get a second season
Aang was always the least interesting character of the cartoon version in the first season as well. We didn't start to really connect with Aang until season 2 Chakras episode.
Why are you speaking for everyone?
I’d overall give the show an 8/10
"my girlfriend became the moon"
"thats rough buddy"
I call those Zack Snyder moments. Something so simple, yet they over complicate it.
They needa change what yue said 😂 “i was touched by the moon spirit as a child” woahhhhhh hold up wait a minute lol
I wish y'all would stop trying to compare it to the original. Like one piece it's not gonna be an exact copy of the original it's it own entity. If this was an exact copy I would rather watch the animated series. It's trying to be it's own thing but agree to disagree
Then show runners should create their own show instead of remaking The original to which People will DEFINITELY COMPARE IT TO xD
Greg: A lot of people are my favorite in this show
Aang: 🥲
Hope you check out Shogun ep 1 and 2 next.
What was that knife and how did the fire nation get it? How did the fire sage know all that information about the moon and ocean spirit? What is an ice moon? Btw, Zhao is dead so we probably won’t get master Jeong Jeong which is important because Aang burns Katara
Why do i feel like the guys wearing the red t shirt is on the fire nation side😂
Zhao firebent in Kioshi island Greg, get it together lol
Why Yue can bending water while moon is gone ? Because she has a Moon Spirit?
Here's what didn't make sense to me. Kyoshi warns Aang about the attack on the Northern Water Tribe, but it only happens because they're chasing Aang. She should've warned him about Omashu.
I probably give it a grade to Greg’s. A solid B- 8/10.
Although changes are needed I really enjoyed watching it and loved having oliva on this journey !
