why is mai and ty lee part of season 1? I don't understand them being there only to be standing there, also No offense but they aren't obeased, so that's a factor i found hard to pay attention to mai and ty
I feel so bad for Kuruk. The dude went through so much, and canonically died at 33. His good deeds were secret from the world, and was known as the lazy Avatar because of it. He deserves better.
The past Avatars are not telling Aang he can't have friends or elationships - that's a part of life. What they are saying is that he alone is the Avatar, and no one can do what he must be able to do as the Avatar. He can not rely on others to take on his responsibilities of becoming a fully realized Avatar. This first season Aang has been helping people and learning about being the Avatar, but he has not realized its full weight because he hasn't even started on his training in the other Elements. Its different from the cartoon, but as a character arc in a short season, it's fitting.
"The past Avatars are not telling Aang he can't have friends or relationships - that's a part of life." Avatar Roku LITERALLY tells Aang "friends can be a...liability." The same man who gave one of the most impactful lines in the animation. "Some friendships are so strong, they can even transcend lifetimes." Roku was deeply hurt and betrayed when Sozin left him to die. To the point he projected his own insecurities and failures on Aang during the Promise comics. But even after death, he knew the importance of having friends. Having a found family.
Just because he believes friendships transcend lifetimes, it doesn't mean he doesn't think friendship can be a liability. His friendship with Sozin was literally his downfall. It makes sense, in a darker version of this story, that Roku feels this way.
27:16 I do feel like most people who hate on this show are mostly so attached to the animated version. They can't deal with the fact that this isn't a 1 for 1 interpretation. I personally enjoyed it a lot, I still love the animated version. But im also hopeful that they will learn from the issues, and season 2 will be an overall improvement.
Exactly. The people who hate on this show want the live action to be as perfect as the animated show. But the forget that stuff in animation can't always be translated well into live action. Besides, not even the One piece live action is perfect.

I don't totally agree with this. I enjoyed a lot of the show, including some of the changes they made. But they also butchered a few things that would've been easy to get right. They turned katara into a Mary Sue and aang doesn't train an ounce of waterbending the entire season. So I think there is good and bad. The people saying it's a great show or a terrible show just happen to be the loudest. I think most land in the middle

In this show, the Pakku stuff made no sense. They for some reason changed the rule Pakku was enforcing. In ATLA, the rule was that women couldn't be trained in combat. And in NATLA, they changed it to women couldn't fight at all. Which makes no sense, there's nothing stopping the female water benders from literally fighting. That's nonsense. Being prevented from taking part in Pakku's training makes total sense. Also, Aang mentions training with Pakku once and it's never brought up again. They just removed the main plot of the episode and replaced it with something flimsy that literally makes no sense. Oh, and they removed Pakku's connection to Gran-Gran entirely.
You need to watch the show again because pakku literally says in ATLA that women cannot waterbend to fight and be trained to fight which means there not allowed to fight at all, he says that they can only use water bending to heal. Idk why yall comment on shit yall don’t know

In the show, Zhao actially blows up Zuko's ship eith him in it while Iroh and the crew are getting supplies. Zhao frames the Pirates for this action, but Iroh KNOWS it was him. Later when they show Zuko in disguise itscaddumed that Iroh, helped him be smuggled in board. Heveven tells Zuko that hes given him all the help he can.
10:31 how can you hide behind your husband when you yell at his face? Will he walk backwards so you can yell but still be "behind" him. Just seeing how that works.
Loving the changes with the fire nation characters. But good lord they are dropping the ball with Aang. He learned and matured way more in the first season of the cartoon than he has here. And I understand they’re not going for the exact same beats as the cartoon, but if you’re going to make changes, they have to be well thought out. Aang says the same thing every episode. “I suck, everything is my fault.” And “Friends , friends hehe friends.” Which are both good topics to explore! But it’s so surface level here that it’s painful. I did like the interactions between him and Zuko last episode though, and I enjoyed his meeting with Gyatso in the spirit world.
@hkhev4370 I just said that I understand it's not the same. You're misunderstanding. I'm fine with changes, but they should be meaningful. Like Zukos changes are great, because they make him more likeable and interesting early on. But with Aang, they kind of dumbed it down. He doesn't feel like the main character. Zuko feels more like a main character here because they're giving him more development. I didn't say the show is bad or that they have to follow exactly. Just that Aang is being handled poorly. They even said the same in one of these reaction videos. No need for your hostility.
THIS is why Aang being a victim of his own circumstances makes no narrative sense for the lessons they're trying to impart in this version vs the original. Here Aang feels like he has no real right to be here, but none of that is conveyed until the final episode. That alone would've been a great narrative for him to struggle with, him being obsessed with his friends, not wanting anything to happen to them because he already lost so much and realizing he is essentially a boy out of time. In the next episode he tells everyone "I should've been lost 100 years ago" and that's a very powerful line...if his arc had an actual curve to it.
If everyone is gonna keep complaining about Aang from Live Action... Just don't watch Season 2. Drop the series... Why waste your time to watch it and complain after. I liked Gordon's Portrayal as Aang. Such a talented kid.
The show overall is too rushed, but there is a lot that works. There is even a lot I would say works better than in the original show. If they can clean up some of the extraneous exposition and make the journey feel more like a...journey, then I think the show has a lot of potential.
I think they coulda went reverse sexism to keep that element, like they'd say that the women benders are more talented at healing and deemed too valuable for frontline combat.
He couldn’t learn any bending until he reconciled his past. Maybe season 2 will also adapt some elements from book one. I think you forget he’s 12 years old and he doesn’t want to accept being an avatar. He’s still looking at the past avatars for guidance. It makes more sense for him to slowly accept his destiny.
The reactions do throw me off when you misremember things, but I don't think that means it's a universal negative or invalidates the reaction, personally. I will say that the issue with your pushback is that you are comparing it to the original still, you're just doing it with wrong information. So choosing not to refresh yourself before this show didn't stop you from watching it through the lens of the original, it's just a foggy lens.
sokka's struggles shouldnt be invalidated/downplayed just because others got it worse (zuko, aang, iroh). "dont minimize your feelings" (damn right, greg!)
Pakkus bias was so subtle I almost thought they cut it out. The wig is a little bit of a miss but her actress nailed the character, the fight between Pakku and Katara was amazingly choreographed as well was very pleased with it
In the show the past Avatars werent so aggressive about Aang being the Avatar, but insuppose that makes sense . Seeing as how in the cartoon Aang actually EANTED to learn the ither elements he didnt NEED to keep being told hie important he was. But in this hes flat out refusing to accept that being the Avatar is HIS responsibility. Thetes even that linebfrom the trailer "I'm the Avatar and I'm going to save the World; with my friends." Having him say that line just shows that he's putting part of his responsibilities onto his friends' shoulders. Sure they can help, but uktimately hevalone had to take over 80% of the burden.
No Greg the way it happened in the animated show was Zhao hired the pirates to blow up Zuko’s boat. I had a problem with Aang’s dialogue this episode mainly the part where he tells Katara that he has to do this alone despite continuously tell the Avatars he can’t do this alone and his help him so why the sudden U turn. The Change they made to this episode is Paaku doesn’t have a connection to Gran Gran thus doesn’t find the necklace when it falls off and doesn’t train Katara
He's reminded of what happened with Koh, the same spirit who took from him in a past life who is telling him to walk alone or it might not go so well next time.
I liked this show but after finishing it I feel as though everyone did well except for kitara, the actress is the only one that kinda felt underwhelming in terms of compelling acting chops
24:27 What make this Bumi appearance here unsettling was the change on his behaviors. In original, they combined Bumi's looks and craziness with brilliance, kindness and wisdom which make him really charming. In this show, first, Bumi didn't introduced as a mad genius (They mentioned Sai for being responsible for delivery system maintenance but they didn't mention that it was created by Bumi). And they blend his make up and bitterness with bad behaviors minus the intelligence which make him just disgusting.
In avatar, water tribe attires are inspired by Korean culture. So the fact that there north and south tribes remind me of North and South Korea, especially when are restrictions in the North.
Okay, I realized I have a problem with how the water bending is depicted on the pakku fight but couldn't put my finger on what until I watched this video. It feels REALLY slow. I played the clips from the fight you guys showed in your video at 1.25x speed and it felt Miles better to watch
I think the motivation to go to the northern water tribe should have been aang going there to find a master and I like the addition of zuko backstory it just makes the end of season 2 that much more powerful I hope they make a season 2 official I had my issues but enjoyed it overall
Yess let's goo and one more episode to season 1 of the ATLA Netflix series and they cast the ATLA charaters perfectly in the live action show and i hope we get a season 2 maybe with the melon lord herself aka toph in season 2🤷
I did not think Yue was a good casting, but i even more dispised that abysmal wig. Like... how did that even pass a production crew as realistic?? Terrible choice.. sone things really don't need to be 1:1

Genuinely curious if you have any functioning brain cells left
lets get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
17:37 ...soooo Real Housewives of the Fire Nation?
It’s not the same as the anime 😅😅😅 what do ya not understand lmao. This is changed and more mature if you don’t like it don’t watch season 2 🤷🏾♂️💯
@@hkhev4370More mature is debateable, its just more violent.
Wow Greg your wife is beautiful, congratulations! I like her opinions though, you should have her on more
I was really looking forward to the Gran Gran story in this episode!! I can't believe they cut it!!
The show overall is too rushed, but there is a lot that works. There is even a lot I would say works better than in the original show. If they can clean up some of the extraneous exposition and make the journey feel more like a...journey, then I think the show has a lot of potential.
You're comparing a show with 8 episodes to one with 12 or 13 episodes
I think they coulda went reverse sexism to keep that element, like they'd say that the women benders are more talented at healing and deemed too valuable for frontline combat.
He couldn’t learn any bending until he reconciled his past. Maybe season 2 will also adapt some elements from book one. I think you forget he’s 12 years old and he doesn’t want to accept being an avatar. He’s still looking at the past avatars for guidance. It makes more sense for him to slowly accept his destiny.
yue = Moon in Japanese ;)
Sokka, Lord of Ice and Snow, Bender of Backs...
Cool 😎 episode
Sokka : why did you turn down han?
Yue: han is wonderful but he was in love with another girl named Leia.
Go talk to Zuko about what his dad says about him,,.😂😂😂
i saw people call sokka a backbender
lol
The reactions do throw me off when you misremember things, but I don't think that means it's a universal negative or invalidates the reaction, personally. I will say that the issue with your pushback is that you are comparing it to the original still, you're just doing it with wrong information. So choosing not to refresh yourself before this show didn't stop you from watching it through the lens of the original, it's just a foggy lens.
Another amazing video
I like how the Avatar didn't learn any water bending... at all.
So sokka cant be sexist but Master pakku still sexist. Make it make sense
I can see why y’all two are married. You both have the same sense of humor.
Preach Olivia! PREACH! Iroh is fucking goated!
sokka's struggles shouldnt be invalidated/downplayed just because others got it worse (zuko, aang, iroh). "dont minimize your feelings" (damn right, greg!)
THANKS for this!!! Olivia, watch "Prey!"
I have a hard time with animal deaths and Greg warned me the movie won’t be for me lol that’s why I never saw it.
@@Agirlandher_cats (SAD EYES :( ) Okkkaaayyy..... You are fun! Do more UA-cam with Greg!!!
Pakkus bias was so subtle I almost thought they cut it out. The wig is a little bit of a miss but her actress nailed the character, the fight between Pakku and Katara was amazingly choreographed as well was very pleased with it
This may have been my favorite reaction video ending.
I busted out laughing at the MAKE SEXISM GREAT AGAIN comment
Who knew everyone around the world had the same vernacular
The same ppl that take for granted that a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away everyone spoke perfect modern English I suppose lol.
31:31 wishful thinking, Olivia! The nerdoms are just too ridiculous to argue with people logically. I get you!
I liked this show but after finishing it I feel as though everyone did well except for kitara, the actress is the only one that kinda felt underwhelming in terms of compelling acting chops
I really enjoy the live action show since I’m a big fan of avatar
La nación del fuego!
Kim’s Convenience fans love Uncle Iroh ♥️
This series girls never failed all women bosses character
In avatar, water tribe attires are inspired by Korean culture. So the fact that there north and south tribes remind me of North and South Korea, especially when are restrictions in the North.
Okay, I realized I have a problem with how the water bending is depicted on the pakku fight but couldn't put my finger on what until I watched this video. It feels REALLY slow. I played the clips from the fight you guys showed in your video at 1.25x speed and it felt Miles better to watch
25:45 I like Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s Iroh, but I think the disconnect comes because Iroh’s voice in the animated show is almost its own character
I can’t wait for Toph. I guess I’ll have to wait but I imagine it’ll be episode 2 but they might push it to episode 3
I did not think Yue was a good casting, but i even more dispised that abysmal wig. Like... how did that even pass a production crew as realistic?? Terrible choice.. sone things really don't need to be 1:1
@13:54 they actually make a predator reference because she was in the movie 😂
👍
It's honestly ridiculous how much they cooked with that lightning cgi. Marvel better accomplish that same quality when it comes to Storm.
Did you forget about Thor?
@@daurydavis3983 unless I'm not remembering correctly, Thor's lightning isn't usually so slow/front and center, and in focus like this. His lighting still looks great, but it's usually a bit more abstract from my perspective (if that makes any sense).
Sokka is a player lol 😂😂
Loved your reaction as always💗
You should check out society of the snow, i would love to hear what you have to say about that one
Mitch McConnell old, Joe Biden old 😂
