Loved your reactions to this whole series. Thanks for not milking this for 8 whole weeks. 😭😭
True, I hate those channels who release their reaction once a week to a new series that has already all the episodes out. Lol
So true
Some channels will milk it for a 2 whole month, channels like 'The normies'
well u can't blame reactors who does that 1 episode per a week cause they have schedules of watching a diff series / movie per day of the week. but i do get the frustration of why not clear a whole week for avatar 😭
@@0_dot_0 dude ur so right I was trying to watch it because I liked how they were reacting to it and the energy but they’re on fucking episode two a week after it came out so I had to come over here
To be fair, if Katara sees a floating boy glowing blue, there's an extreme probability it's gonna be Aang.
FACTS 😂
:'D lmaoooo
lol yeah, I thought it was obvious. Maybe it was late when they recorded this 🤷🏻♂️😂
hahahaha there's no other alternatives lol
Like literally no one else can do this that they've soon. Come on lol it's so obvious
Zuko's pained screaming towards Zhao was so powerful. He looks so broken
great acting dallas, ive said this since the start, hes been the strongest out of the core 4,

One day I dropped my coffee mug by mistake.
Aang : It's my fault.
My heart STOPPED when Momo was hit. “No way they’re killing off Momo, I will murder everyone”
Man that was BS right there why they gotta do Momo like that
Man that’d be suicide of AvatarNetflix
I was like: NOT MOMO DONT YOU DARE NETFLIX!!!!
Fr, I was scared too lol. If flying lemurs existed I would definitely have one for a pet.
HOW DARE THEY HURT MOMO !!! I almost cried 😢
The show is currently number 1 in 84 countries. Truly global phenomenon. We getting season 2
Yeah haters and complainers need to stfu and not be in the Internet. Ruining it for the rest of us that are not anal about life.
I REALLY HOPE SO
@@avatarmezzy2980 let them be loud. these cries needs to reach netflix and team so they can make the rough edges smooth in next season. netflix needs to be provide more resources to the team to reach it's potiential

We better be!
The finale felt like a whole block buster movie and I loved it

I don't blame Kiawentiio at all for what was missing from Katara. That felt like the writing to me. They didn't give her opportunities to show her strength. It's not like the lines were there and she missed them, they just weren't there. But this means she can be so much better in following seasons.
I think they wanted her to develop the compassion rather than be natural with it like she was in animated show. it felt like she's be therapizing people since her mom died, but in reality she was just sitting in secluded tribe. they have given hints of her having the tendency, but the actual moment we see is when she talks to aang when he's given into the wrath of ocean spirit.
I agree. The dialog and directing seemed to be missing for Katara. You can’t do things in a story without the dialogue.
Kia is so much more like katara on interviews, gordon too! The writing really did them wrong
I'm sorry but for me it was her acting as well not just the script writing.
It's her facial expressions that made some scenes of her underacted.
Just like the saying goes, A great calligrapher doesn't blame the brush.
i swear they could have done so much better with katara, they literally show her being a master waterbender out of nowhere, at no point in the past episodes did it show that she was as close to being a master and it just happens overnight, not to mention a lot of other things they changed that they really shouldve just stuck to
YAY!!!! You made it!!!! CONGRATS to you and your editors!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed this first season!!!
“Sacrifice Momo” was hilarious 😂😂😂
You guys did it! I loved these reactions.. thanks for finishing all 8 episodes so quickly.. I thought the show is GREAT- it wasn't perfect, but I'm so happy with the results
Immediately rewatching all 8 reactions after this one. I absolutely enjoyed this show. Even with the changes. And i love you both so much! ❤❤❤ let’s get ready for book 2 and 3!
Whoever built the sets did a good job. It’s like flipping through the pages of the art book come to life.
My main gripe is Aang seems to have completely forgot to train water bending along with Katara at all. it was a huge plothole for me but they did their best I guess.
@@johnP0908 Lol…even though Aang mentions in either episode 1 or 2 that he has to master the other disciplines. Was there training and it was cut from these reaction videos? Katara knows she is the last waterbender from her village. She gets the waterbending scroll. She knows Aang has to master waterbending. Without having any intention to go to the find another waterbender right away she should be actively choosing to train alongside Aang. Let’s learn together.
It could honestly be an easy fix because Aang keeps learning from Katara for the entirety of book 2. @@johnP0908
Should I watch animated series or live action?
I really missed the scene where Aang burns Katara's hands and she discovers healing. It also irked me that Aang didn't water bend once in book titled Water. The show needed two to four more episodes to take its time and make it feel like a journey. Everything felt like it happened in a couple days.
Yeah... I cannot believe they took Jeoung Jeoung out. Aang learns a very vital lesson there and it expands Zhao character a lot more. Pisses me off
aang could easily still meet jeong jeong in s2
@@mymaynee5963 Sure, but it's the least of the problems along the show, Aang didn't even learn a hint of water bending at all, Katara completely brushed aside a skill which is essential throughout her journey that is healing through water bending. because the ability to heal is essential for the next seasons in the animated series. she's supposed to learn at least the basics of healing, she learned it herself when she met Jeong jeong.
@908 Katara did learn the basics of healing at the northern water tribe.
Tbf they never called this season “water” in the live action and they took parts from other seasons.
People don't know what they are missing, in terms of your reactions. Just your enthusiasm and emotions put me on the edge of my seat while watching with you. You've been able to make me a fan of AVATAR, So thanks for that.
😊💗👍
I can see the $$$$$ spent in this last episode. This was so crazy!!!
I wished they kept the part when Zhao was captured by the ocean spirit and Zuko tried to save him, because for me this was a very important moment in the show. However, in the live action I noticed that when Zhao fell into the water there was a light blue 'glow' around him.
Aang never bent water. He was suppose to start learning in this season. Now they'd have to do a time jump where he already know water bending or he learns water while looking for toph, which for 8 episode would be rough. That's my only criticism
It was a huge flaw for me, the fact that they may actually use that approach irks me the most. Katara was supposed to be Aang's waterbending mentor in this season, and they failed to do that.
@@johnP0908 also didn't like that Katara was deemed a master without being guided or ordained. Pakku just said, eh she's good enough to war she's good enough for me. Hopefully, they fix that next season
Considering that they said that Sozin's comet was not as prominent in this season because the actors are going to grow up between seasons it's really obvious that they are going to do time jumps and that's how they're going to justify Aang learning waterbending off camera.
the writers dropped the ball on Aang learning water bending. All they had to do was show him learning in an episode or two.
Yeah agree
We can still have Katara's Jealousy at Aang picking up waterbending well next season, since we've since her struggle throughout this season
This was clearly the best episode. Minimal changes and still looked amazing!!
1. Wish Iroh was there when Yue sacrificed herself like he was in the animation. They seem to have reduced his spiritual side a lot in this. 2. Agree that it's so weird Aang hasn't done ANY waterbending yet. Also, why did they make him so mopey in this. That's Zuko's role lool. 3. Actor playing Zuko KILLED it in this. I have hope for S2 & 3 with him, if they happen.
"They seem to have reduced his spiritual side a lot in this"
They never even seemed to imply that Iroh is someone that is knowledgable in the spirit world as well. there was not hint at all. only Zhao pointed it out.
@@johnP0908 also add that while they portray Aangs fun side, they don't tap into his wise side where he embodies that wise monk caricature

I’m glad yall could appreciate this show for what it was instead of getting mad it’s not 1000000% faithful to the original Nickelodeon Cartoon like the rest of the weirdos on the internet. Respect to yall for not just following the rest of them
Update: as you can see by the absolutely enormous amount of replies by hurt children who can’t take a little criticism, I don’t care about your opinion nor do I care if you don’t like MY opinion. Just like you should not care about MY opinion. If what I said hurts your feelings, go cry about it you insecure little child.
Yea like people with different opinions are weirdos I bet if u even watched og cartoon what a illogical intolerant person u are
It's a tough balance. But One Piece was the best adaption. They kept the spirit of the anime. This wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Maybe season 2 will be better.
So anyone not agreeing with ur views are weirdos?? Good job. Showed urself bit too fast
@@parthachem83 because that what he said right
@@parthachem83true but also alot of people were "finally the adaptation we wanted" then when it came out it was "who wanted this?", it's as simple as you can't please everyone lol
Book 2 in live-action is DEFINITELY happening
- Recruiting Toph as Aang's earthbending master.
- Zuko learning lightningbending
- Toph inventing metalbending
- The Drill
- Book 2 final fight
- Drawing up plans to invade the fire nation in Book 3 (large scale fight scene that's even more dope than the drill fight scene)
Kind of felt like they were so focused on Aang's emotions and coming to terms with being the avatar that they forgot he needed to learn water bending.
omg your right, he didn’t even learn it which is kinda an issue because he needs to learn earthbending next season. wonder what they’re gonna do
I feel like they did Aang greasy
@@penguin50279 it will probably be a time jump so he will learn waterbending off camera and then learn earth bending or season 2 learn both of them
thank you guys for not making us wait 8 weeks to finish your reactions like other channels❤❤
I loved this season I can’t wait for season 2
Been watching you guys react to the series it's been awesome I love how you allowed the series to breath on it's own and not crucifying for not been a 1:1, personally I enjoyed the series I saw it with my Bro who had never seen the Avatar world but as we finished it he was in love with the series I'm really hoping we get a season 2
One of my favorite adaptation choices was making Yue a waterbender tbh, The moment she froze Sokka's feet even when the moon gone was such a good reveal that she still had that connection, thus being the one able to bring it back. Didn't change anything about the plot itself, but it added that moment of realization before the reveal, really loved it.
Thanks for reacting to the whole season! Enjoyed the show overall and definitely better than expected. Hoping for more seasons. There is hope
Jabby's reaction to Katara's stiff acting throughout the season really resonates. I mean, what was the director doing the whole season?! She's a young actress and should have been guided likewise. Also I loved the way jabby clearly locked in on the rubbery CGI katara jump😂😂in the initial scene like a terminator!! Lolzz
My only pet peeves is aang not learning waterbending in book 1 water. One of the big things this series is about is learning the elements. I hope theydont try to crunch the water and earth bending into one book.
That is exactly what they are going to do. Honestly I cannot believe they just deliberately put themselves in such a lousy position.
I can already guess what they are going to do and you are not going to like it: Aang's waterbending is going to happen entirely in "exposition".
i mean it makes sense, while they could’ve done katara and aang learning in s1 together like the animated, it makes sense for s2. in s2 katara is a more mature bender, and in the animated aang does learn a LOT of water bending in s2. along side earthbending.
And where is JEONG JEONG?
@@pee-buddy I mean they are doing their own thing it’s bro going to be like the original
@@gyomeihimejima2829 ikr 😂
its a good day when i see an upload from you✌
YAY we ae up to 14+ viewers . i like this series because i know it is an adaptation #not a shot for shot remake ☝☝☝
I thought Aang was summoning Godzilla for a second😄
They let Momo being a little hero by sacrificing himself to save a little kid, that was beautifull ❤
It really worked very well, even with some changes.
Azula: What's next?
Me: next stop, legendary earthbender Toph kicking some as*❤
Can’t wait for Toph!
My hope is that if this show does get a season to and possibly 3 that the show runners take notes on what DID and what DID NOT work for fans. My advice would be follow the same strategy that was used for The Last Of Us show, which is when you can’t think of a way to improve or alter the source material then stay faithful to the source material, and where you know there is room for improvement then you appropriately change course.
For instance I loved that we got more of Ozai.
Don't mind the Ozai stuff, but the characterization of Azula and friends kind of pissed me off a little. Feels like I ordered a rare steak and got served salmon sashimi instead if that makes sense 😂
Loved how they went black and white when the moon died and Aang going kaiju reminded me of Godzilla Minus One.
Pretty much a 1:1 shot from the animation minus the unnecessary dialogue.
I agree with the part about Aang constantly being a woo is me character in this adaptation... I feel like that's almost every other line they gave him... It's was really getting on my nerves. I also felt like I couldn't connect to any of the characters so in the sad scenes I couldn't bring myself to feel sad or cry even a little...
Truth 🥲
The koizilla monster looked incredible bro damn
Let me just say: I freaking love Momo in this. He’s just as badass as Appa is, if not more so.
The fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself and fight people to help others is awesome. Momo may be cute, but don’t underestimate him in battle.
Hope we get more badass Momo scenes in season 2.
i really like how they portrayed Zhao
I'm definitely down for a szn 2. It was a slow burn BUT the bending and heart carried. Now they can Jump right into szn 2
Yeah I was eager to see that this season especially in the book and the cartoon is all about Water, and the Avatar hasn't even touched the water itself.
There’s not as much focus on the relationships between the characters in this which I think isn’t working as well. Aang doesn’t have his first love with katara and he hasn’t had any goof ball moments with sokka which has me worried for toph as her strength was bouncing off of their goofing around
I feel you. Somehow I feel they did not think too far ahead when they were doing this season. I mean look at Mai and Ty Lee, there is no amount of visual effects that would convince me that those two can fight any of the Kyoshi warriors.
Lmao…Iroh commenting that’s it not like looking for a lost puppy feels so out of place….we all know he should have said puppy+something else.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I liked the final battle in the movie better. There were more 1-1 fight scenes. When Uncle Iroh enters the match and produces fire on his own without any source, it gives you goosebumps.
Also when Aang stands on the wall and his Avatar form kicks in middle of raising the tide, that’s a dope moment. And at the end when entire tribe bows to him and Katara says we need you to be our Avatar, and then Sokka and Katar both bow, it hits different.
In the series only thing which felt cooler was the water monster.
I never thought of blood bending as Katara's peak. For me it was when season 3 starts and she's defending the ship
As someone who never watched the animated version, thank you for the great reactions. One thing that struck me from the very beginning and helped me frame the series, it was written for younger audiences or at least in a way they could follow it.
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of Katara earning the title of Master without receive any ACTUAL training from a master. In the OG she was naturally gifted and you buy into her evolution as a bender more. Here, and I’m not saying it’s terrible, but it feels rushed and not completely earned. I do buy into her being naturally gifted and better than her peers, but I don’t buy into her bypassing training all together and going immediately to training Aang. What advanced techniques has she learned other than what she created herself? I don’t think creating the air scooter alone is what made Aang a master
All that being said, I still really enjoyed this season and look forward to more in the future!
I loved this. They made Sokka and Yue's connection more impactful and understandable.
Katara and Aang in this feel like Padme and Anakin in Phantom Menace. She looks way older.
Love you both! Thanks for all you do. I really enjoyed this series.
I feel like next season the beginning of the season will be “Aang, you’ve been practicing for a year now, I can finally call you a waterbending master…”
one piece was slashed, smashed and mashed a hundred times more, from 45 episodes condensed to 8 live action episodes. it made me realize how wonderful and open minded their fandom was compared to ATLA’s fandom. one piece fandom accepted the changes a s long as it had the heart and made it a gateway to convince people to watch the anime and it worked. LUFFY is a household name now. ATLA fandom wants a 1:1 remake, and god i remember how even the fans were bullying the creators themselves for their Zutara ship. instead of treating this adaptation as a different thing and making it a gateway to convince people to watch the cartoons, the fandom itself is tearing it to shreds. either way, how this adaptation will be received by non animation watchers and a new generation, it will affect the upcoming animated movie this year!!!! i stick to my rating 8/10 and will just stay away from the toxic fandom. disgusting esp those who are mad at azula and mai’s casting because they want to fantasize on 14 year old girls!!!!!!!!
100% !!
I always thought ATLA would've have chill fandom..... Oh boy how wrong i was.
I dont understand where people find this toxicity.
OnePiece fandom is wholesome like that..still..the only toxicity I saw was for the LA vs Anime, and many of that was from my own country sadly..a bit immature I will say.
Aang's hearing is amazing, he heard Kitara from thst distance
Finally get to see your reactions on episode 8 👏👏👏
I love how quickly they fall off succession whenever a mid show drops.
11:47 I do like this show more than apparently most people do but I gotta say...how exactly was she able to waterbend there? The moon spirit was still dead. Waterbending should therefore be impossible.
Unless it has something to do with the moon spirit's power being IN her, but then they really did not make that very clear, especially considering how this show is trying to make everythinf unmistakably clear to even my 90+ year old grandma. So...... 😂
Yeah I just assumed it's because she had the moon spirit in her, (enough to bring the moon back) it's plausible she'd have that special ability to still waterbend
Jaby thanks. Finally someone has said the one thing I didn't like. Aang over did the woe is me being the world savior. But I am also annoyed at Spiderman doing that all the time. Aang needs more jokes to break it up a bit.
“Palpatine episode 9” 😂😂😂😂❤
Pahahaha! "What the hell?! Is this palpatine EP.IX?!" 😂😂
I agree with Achara. Gordon's performance here felt a lot like Daniel Radcliffe's performance in the first 2 Harry Potter movies. They feel like "child actors", not actors who are children.
Fantastic Reaction I absolutely love this adaptation Imagine what Netflix can and hopefully will do with 2 or more seasons their story doesn't have to be condensed to 3 seasons I absolutely love the original cartoon it's incredible one of the best cartoons of all time I really really hope Netflix continues this for a long time love your reactions to all these episodes love you both 😊❤😮🎉
Katara bringing all the healers in the front lines is a very bad move 😂
I was in school when avatar series was being aired here. Old tv times. It got me so engaged and suddenly one day they switched back to ep1. The FRUSTRATION I felt. I guess they only got the rights to first season.
Then came the movie. I was sooo excited to finally get to watch it all. Welp. NO.
And now this. I've watched the "season 1" of this story THREE TIMES now (anime, movie, series). I would really like to know what happens AFTER.
Please Netflix, don't break my heart again.
Jaby, I totally feel your heart with this adaptation, giving your honest attempt to see it on its own merit..
Being protective of original source is one thing, and yet being at odds with the hard hardcore fans who cannot fathom what an adaptation is.
I felt it with OnePiece, my bros, my closest friends, did not watch it at all..
The amount of change Op had, was substantial..it was within the spirit and the source, a positive of having the author on board...still people cannot accept Grounded versions...luckily, those people are like a wild pokemon only for OPLA.
"I remember feeling a lot more for Yue-"
It's the wig.
It's- it's the wig.
What on god's green earth were they thinking with that wig.
That wig is the biggest miss in the entire show
'Sozin's Comet will return by the end of the summer, and Fire Lord Ozai will use its power to finish the war, once and for all.' -Avatar Roku
not in this version. That's why it's just "soon". The actors already look older than what is shown here and by the time they would finish two more seasons, well it be impossible to nail it down to such a specific timeline.
@@gamingeagle19true, still a good line though
I liked the storyline around the Moon and Ocean Spirits, but I don't like how it separates Waterbenders from the other benders so much tbh:
1) Waterbenders are the only ones that didn't learn bending from an animal
2) Waterbenders are more vulnerable since their bending can acc be taken away permanently by killing the Spirits
lol…Sokka speaks up and then Yue knows exactly what to do. Why did Sokka need to speak up? It should have dawned on Yue the sacrifice she had to make. She was giving all this exposition earlier and then she stands there talking about the Ocean Spirit going on a rampage. Either looking at the moon or the Ocean Spirit should have clued her in. Or the Ocean Spirit should be approaching her because it could tell she was touched by the Moon Spirit. Did anyone else watch this and wonder what’s going on- she knows, not she doesn’t know, now she knows..
She knew but can anyone think straight when shit happens right before yours eyes? She just need a light push for her to remember
I think assuming a season 2, they need to slow things down a bit and just improve the dialog. The biggest flaw is that it feels like these characters have been together for like 3 days. I think they can easily put logical breaks in to feel like time has passed. They did it once in this season, where there was a good bit that talked about some adventures they had off screen. Build the report better.
what I like about this , it’s the last episode, the wrath of The Avatar’s form. It so powerful and real not the same as anime (look like more cartoon)
Did you know that Fire Lord Ozai and Commander Zhao were once LOST on an island? A Smoke Monster chased them until they figured out how to turn smoke into fire; the rest was history.
"Let go of the past"
A great theme that apparently the creators of the cartoon were incapable of embracing.
Which is a huge relief, because we got a 2024 live action interpretation of the tale rather than a tedious reverential remake
Emotional damage @ momo huhuhu. Aagzilla is jaw dropped again. Love this season.
9:31 I think Katara reconized his Avatar State glow.
I thought the haters learned their lesson with Korra. I mean how many ppl hated on it when it first came out and now it's a classic and beloved lol.
I have so many problems with the show, but like she explained at the end, I think they have a decent enough foundation for season 2. they just have to knock it out of the park the last 2 seasons and it could end up a great adaption.
I really enjoy the season finale episode and it's sad the film gets dumped on so much. I liked it and wanted a sequel that never happened. I watched the film and never saw the animation so it's all I knew about The Last Airbender. I do feel the show is better because it's more effective to tell this story in a longer format.
All I can say is I can't wait for Season 2 so I can get more of the story and hope that everything is even better for the next installment. Also I wish Amber Midthunder was playing a different character that was going to be more of a regular. That would've been awesome to have her in way more episodes.
Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
Azula in full armor at Omashu goes oretty hard ngl.
They need to recast Azula next season
I think a more serious tone worked here for the live action, although I thought it was too soon to be joking about food after the war in the north. The visuals, cgi and the action were great overall especially the firebending and conveying the power of the avatar state and other elements. The pacing and the acting could have been better at times but it wasn't terrible, I also think some of the changes worked but I really wanted to see Aang escaping Zuko's ship, also I feel like Sokka falling in love with the princess was too soon given that he was with Suki a few episodes ago. Overall I enjoyed the show, the first episode was amazing and they did a great job adding a good amount of things from the animated series.
Well done Netflix.
You guys should check out this movie called Project X in 2012. It’s about these three teenagers who throw the most epic high school party of all time.
I am confused. Both Iroh and Sokka were in the spirit oasis with Yue when Zhao destroyed the fish. Neither one spoke up about Yue when Zhao left? Aang didn’t have to step into the pond. No one should have left the oasis. They could have undone what Zhao did five minutes after he left lol?
It's no question a flawed season of tv but it was still ABSOLUTELY charming.
Most of the actual story changes and streamlining did not bother me at all. And many times felt like improvements.
The acting- Katara in particular. I really hope she steps up and gets better. Cause I got glimmers of how she could be good. She had some scenes fighting with Sokka where I saw a glimmer of "She CAN be good!"
And in many ways I felt more emotionally here than I ever did for the animated version because these are real people going through this. I couldn't help but want to root for it because it had a beautiful soul.
This show is clearly not for the die hard purist who think every frame is perfect. This is for the people who loved the original but was able to see that the first season in particular had flaws.
I hope that we get a second and third season, it's clear that the people that made the live action care for the source material and honestly, I think that most of the problems that this live action has are a result of Netflix episode restrictions and not enough budget to include certain bits of the cartoon. Of course there's other problems that are unavoidable when adapting an animated show and the writing is not the best in some parts, but the best parts of this live action are amazing and makes me more forgiving of the mistakes that were done along the way.
Enjoyed your reactions! I overall really enjoyed the show. I missed Katara’s feistiness from the original show, but I feel like she got there by the end. The actress is great at the softer moments and conveying the depression and depression her character goes through as a result of her loss and life in a war. I’m hoping if we get seasons 2 and 3 she can bring the confidence and sass of the OG.
lol meant depression and repressed feelings
My mother has never watched the animated series, but the trailers for this Netflix version got her interested and started watching the show. It’s interesting to see her enjoyment free of the original series as a preconception.
I do wonder if this gets a second and third season. What are they going to do about the main cast of actors? There are going to be a year or two between seasons, and especially Aang’s actor is going to grow dramatically. Umbrella Academy is facing the same issue. The character Five is suppose to be an old man trapped in a teenager body, but the actor has grown a lot between seasons. Despite only a few in-story weeks passing. Wonder what will happen if they have a second season, and Aang is a foot and a half taller?
please get her to watch the animated version it so much better.
@@needum9212 My mother really doesn’t like watching animated series. WHAT IF? was different since it was short, and she already liked the characters from the movies. I’m happy she’ll enjoy the story with the live-action version. Even if it’s an adaptation. People are being too harsh on this version. It’s not that different than watching the Harry Potter movies without reading the books. Those also had big changes and moved events around. The base story is still the same.
@@kristofferremmell right but the animated show was made first before any books. also the live action version does have small changes in the story that didnt need to be made. at least give the animated a try. also alot more details and story in the animated
I swear every single hater is trying to find the smallest things to nitpick and most of the stuff they are saying it’s not even right like yes there is the obvious things that they fucked up but if you truly love the show, you’ll just appreciate being able to get more content in different forms and timelines, not gonna cap the cinepals were quite nitpicky, and it seems like he watched moist criticals review he was using the same type of wording, to be fair the second and third seasons of the original are much better than the first and I feel like they’re just getting into the groove of the show there will definitely be a season two this is one of the biggest cartoons of the 2000 there’s no way there will not be a season two, it will be a while though because season one took a long time
Like Azula was very common collected during the first part of the show, and didn’t really start showing signs until the beach
Yes I have been waiting for this moment
Exactly!! We need fun Aang man that's his character that's who he is. Need some balance in that .
I mean there were some scenes where he was goofing around
Blue Eye Samurai next?
I 100% agreed with Jaby, Katara was easily the worst part of this season performance-wise. They improved many character arcs here, but worsened hers
everyone's missing the katara rage
Since the animated show is over and the Netflix show can use it to their advantage then Pakku should be showing more confidence that he could possibly avert the disaster because Iroh is on the ship. In Book One we didn’t know but in hindsight we know….
I was thinking about this in the Bumi episode. Bumi sent him to the pit and is super jaded. I have a feeling they are going to actually show the formation of the white lotus in this series with the implication that those old dudes don't know each other yet.
Here me out. I think Katara's arc was changed for this version of ATLA, and it's a little hard to pick up at first. In the animated series, she was the emotional and moral pillar that glued the whole group together from the get go, and her main problem that first season was developing water bending. Sokka was basically the comedic sidekick of the group to start. His character was formed around Jack DeSena's strengths as a voice actor - Sokka wasn't supposed to be that silly when they first envisioned his character.
In this series, the whole issue of war is more serious right from the get go, and Sokka has to be a more of an older brother carrying real weight of responsibility. He just can't be that silly - although they do give him some humor because they need some lightness. In this version, Katara can't play the anchor for the group initially because it would be redundant. Katara starts isolated, doubtful and discouraged from expressing her water bending, for fear of the fire nation - a palpable threat to her life. She has to grow into her sense of self, and into her role as emotional core and moral guide. That journey actually takes preeminence over the bending journey, which kind of gets short shrift in this version because of time.
Whenever there was a scene with Pakku and Katara, especially during their fight, I kept waiting if Pakku would notice Katara's necklace and mentioned that it was the necklace he made for his former betrothed. Then they learned that he was betrothed to their gran gran and Sokka makes a joke about him being their grandpa. But nope. None whatsoever. It's okay tho. The detail was probably lost while the writers were trying to put so many plots and sub-plots in 8 episodes.
Is it perfect? No, far from it.
But i find it hitting a majority for the foundational themes, motives, and identities when compared to the animation.
Theres alot of changes i didnt like, but there was a surpsing amount of additions that i really enjoyed such as the funeral and expansion on the relationship with Zuko and Iroh, the addition with the other avatars like Kuruk and Kyoshi, etc.
I do agree with the critiques on the pacing, the social development with the main group to an extent, and lack of character development for some like Katara until the very end.
Overall i found the adaptation to be respectable and i enjoyed it alot more than i had expected. I give it like 6.5/10
you should watch Kims Kim's Convenience. Th euncle played the appa :D
Someone said this on reddit that for katara, maybe they were trying to build up her character to be strong and passionate after she went through heavy obstacles instead of outright doing her already being independent, passionate and strong. I mean it kind of makes sense bcs they were building up a lot of characters to establish their personality like Azula not outright being a crazy bitch from the get go, and zuko and so on, and to me, that makes sense.
