Discussing the twine system in a 430/435 John Deere round baler

We discuss how the twine system on a 430 John Deere baler works and what to look for when having issues. How to bleed the twine pump and the overall differences between a 430 and 435 baler. I also explain how to engage the twine arm without a bale in the baler to check the twine system. The reason I lock the tailgate to do so is to put the slack in the belts to the rear of the baler and not at the front where the twine arm could potentially get caught and bent in the belts. This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. I have a JD 435 and the twine arm will not engage automatically. I have to manually engage the twine arm by pulling the outside lever no matter the bale size. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get it to work properly for a while with no luck. Do you know what could prevent it from tying automatically? Following your video instructions, I can now tell that the manifold plunger is not lifted up but I’m not sure what to adjust to make it rise.

How much air would you suggest blowing in?
I have a 530, almost exact same twine system. The pump ram low on fluid friday night, and now the twine arm won't move. Anyone have any suggestions? I think I've narrowed it down to either the pump or the needle valve

@@beeffarmer8576 that is a good possibility. I’ve installed pumps from an 80’s Chevy 350 engine. Swap the relief out of the original one and put it in the new one.

We have JD 430 baler that randomly locks up during baling and shuts off tractor. You can dump bale and start over normally, but today it would get about 4 foot bale and lock up and shut tractor off. Have you had any experience with this issue?

Is the tailgate opening causing the baler to stop baling?

Im stuck with a 430 I bought, it hasnt run in a few years. The pump looks new but was dry, try bleeding the hydraulics and managed to do so now the arm cycles but even after hitting the stop button the arm keeps traveling forward until the gear comes out of the rack thats actuated by the cylinder.. I tried sending you a dm but no luck doing that on youtube. is there any way I could reach you over the phone? Im in Mexico but can call international no problem.
