Hugely important point to anyone considering this: anoles need UVB. If they aren’t outdoors in direct sunlight, they will die without a UVB lamp that is replaced annually. Sunlight through a window does not work.
works if u open the window so there isn't glass blocking the uvb
@@JameGoFast True, add a mesh so they dont escape or birds dont come in.
Theres a frog that's lived in my planter on my front porch for 3 years now. I think maybe originally a bird might have dropped him in my yard because theres no water anywhere around where I live. I toss bugs in there for him from time to time but he mostly survives on its own.
Love knowing exactly where a wild animal lives it's life, and being able to interact.
Green anoles are so underrated, this was such a cool idea and glad you went through with it. Free roam lizards are pretty experimental but you definitely pulled it off with these guys.
I love them but they die too soon
this video taught me Anoles are more smart than I originally thought..
Yessir, green anoles specifically.
@@Reptiles_Uncaged I always thought of the brown anoles to just be crack heads. The green anoles move smooth and precisely. Meanwhile the brown anoles will literally teleport lol
@@KHROMATICxKHAOS So facts 🤣🤣
Excellent. You are so right on the Anoles. People often assume only a House Gecko can be uncaged :)
MAN I LOST TOUCH WIRH YOUR CHANNEL A WHILE AGO! THIS WAS MY FAVORITE REPTILE CHANNEL ON ALL OF UA-cam! IM SO GLAD I FOUND YOU AGAIN
You jus gave me a idea like how you used tote use a plastic kiddy pool from dollar store
I'm glad you use real plants.
Best way to go.
what about UVB light. The average heat light or ceramic heater does not produce it.
Yup that’s a long term concern with this setup
some isotopes in that tub would be good idea.
what a cool idea! im glad i found this channel... i had many many anoles as a kid and randomly decided today that i want to get some again, decades later, so i came on youtube and was lucky enough to find you video. instant subscibe
This gave me a good idea
What u got in mind bro?
@@Reptiles_Uncaged looks like nothing
I was waiting for you to drop another BANGER! Thx and keep up the awesome work.
Appreciate you 🙏💯
please do some more room setups like this but for other animals.. like leopard geckos, or gray tree frogs!
Wouldn’t work
I read it as gay tree frogs
wouldn't be a good idea for leopard geckos
@@wmartin927it could if you do it right
This was cool and all, but do not just screw a friggin basking lamp onto a wall xD
I have no idea why I was curious about this but I applaud you for having this video here for me to enjoy and learn from. Appreciate it bro
Am sure you already know this but I would be careful how hot the light fitting gets against the wall.
I have burned wooden enclosure in the past by having the light fitting touching the roof of the enclosure.
Very cute but what about UVB? They won't survive long without it!
@Where’s the Money Lebowski Do you have one? Which one do you recommend i just got one and it won’t eat
I've kept MANY anoles and they live a long time with no UVb
Arcadia sells bulbs that put out UVA and UVB rays in one bulb, just like the one he’s mounted to the wall.
How about replacing your bedroom light bulbs with uvb/uva
Thank you
Thank you for this video. I always learn something new. I have two male anoles. One brown and one green they are my favorite. I love seeing your anoles!!! Thank you for your great content. Much love from Arizona
You have good taste in reptiles bro 😂. Glad youre enjoying! Much love 💯
Great info, thanks
Every episode is dope bro!! Keep it going
Glad youre enjoying, will do! 💯💯
Great video! 🌞
Gratitude 🙏
Lets go!! Im always excited to watch the new videos, great concept and rly just something not many ppl are doin let alone allowing the world in on the process and trials n stuggles it is to go so big n hard to produce such great info n content for others n just to show people animals dont needa be caged forever n alsays #uncaged life
Much love bro 💯🙏
This is so amazing. I know I'm way late to seeing this cool info but I'm still gonna share with everyone I know that love reptiles and hopefully we can get this video to go viral for ya.
This was awesome! I’m definitely going to try this!! Thanks for the video man
Have fun with it!
How did it turn out??
This idea shows your wisdom of lizard instincts and behaviors. First time viewer and instant subscriber. Pleased to have discovered your channel.
Well he’s not that knowledgeable considering a green anole won’t thrive and survive without a uvb lamp
@@kristina8021 it takes nothing to add an extra lamp. He’s being creative and using his knowledge to improve those lizards life, that’s a beautiful thing.
She doesn't know I used hybrid UVB/UVA Heat bulbs.
I just found your channel and i love it man keep up the good work 👊
Welcome to the channel bro, glad to have you. Will do 🔥💯
Nice vid, buddy. I remember you mentioned adding Mantis to your setup. Did that ever happen? That would be super dope!
We had eggs. But didn't hatch. We'll have another go at it soon.
This was amazing 👏
I have a anole but I don't have an vivarium for it to live in and I don't know what I can use to give it a home
This dude is cool. Haven't seen him in a bit.
Old video but super cool how you keep them man. But he was totally hunting down a fly, after jumping from your hands.
Im a huge fan! Would this setup work whit brown anoles?
I live in SC and this is pretty cool in case one of the Anoles get in from the garden. They'll have a safe, moist place to go, and I'll be able to find them and help them back outdoors... we also have small Mediterranean house geckos. *Very* small and cute. None have gotten in the house that I know of, but any tricks to lure them into a safe area like this? Thank you for your video. 🦎🦎🦎👍
at the start when the lizard was walking it was sooo cute lol
Ingenious 😊
Hi, there are lots of baby iguanas that cross the roads where I live and I'd really like to keep a few. Do you have any setups that are ideal for housing pet iguanas?
You can do it with real chameleons too if you have the proper humidity. They definitely won’t leave the plant 🌱!
I had a blue blurry lizard that lived in my cell for four years, and would sleep next to my head every night. Never left. I even would take him to work when I was a part of the maintenance dept. He never left
Im actually seriously interested in this. Unfortunately i live in a colder climate in Maine. Do you think the heatlamp alone would be enough for them to stay warm in the winter? My house stays around 60-65 degrees during the winter.
probably would need to heat the room with something, heat helps create the humidity they need also
Cool vid!!!! Maybe I would try to attempt that sometime with my anoles or something. After watching this it makes me feel silly for putting them into a 40 gal tipped upright with a i heart gecko conversion door glued on.
Do you still have the turtles? Havent seen em in a while. Love the channel
All for nothing bro but you may wanna put a lil heat resistant pad or something where your heat lamp is screwed into your wall. It could cause a fire over time better safe than sorry 😎👍🏼. This is a great idea tho I like the concept a lot.
I have 8 set up just like this and all have two breeding pairs in them 4 years now they always stay in there place .
And also would crested geckos be oky in an enclosure like thar?
Please post more, hope everything is well!
Would be possible to do a cage like this wit a leopard gecko?
No, this is specifically for green anoles.
I've done this with giant day geckos
Did they actually stay?
Will white tree frogs be good in an encaged enclosure like that?
wow that was realy interesting
Glad you enjoyed bro. Thanks for commenting 🤙🏼
@@Reptiles_Uncaged I am a total fan of you way to keep the animals. Amazing.
What are some ideas of lizards like this that live longer ? Anoles average live 3-4 years max for me... I'm looking for 20-50 years
Great idea! I really wish I could do that set up but …CATS 😂
Did you do this long term? Did it work out?
Make a video on how to train them to be handled?
some his lizards he's had for years... they just got use to him to the point where he can walk up close to them and they won't run
All of those indoor plants at the beginning could live outside, but only in Florida or California, or certain locations. It depends… but they’re sold inside as houseplants, in the houseplant section, inside the store, for a reason 😉 lol because they’re mostly shade plants. Not really dark shade but bright indirect light. So getting the benefits of the lights but growing towards it rather than into it. The best trees for anoles are things like Schefflera and Ficus trees, especially _Ficus benjamina_ with smaller leaves and lots of branches. Something huge like a rubber tree _Ficus elastica_ might have too much flat surface area, not enough climbing space, but of course they can adjust…ferns are good for them too. I’d say just don’t have the basking light on a plant. The basking areas should be a rock or driftwood, something that can absorb the heat for them to soak up. Plants should be the cool-off areas, in my opinion.
That's pretty neat, Unfortunately we don't have any little lizards to keep in that sort of setup hear, my pet bearded dragon cage is on the floor with doors open during daylight hours for it to Rome the house, she loves the freedom.
Dope that you let your dragon roam during the day tho. Bet it looks forward to being let out daily.
@@Reptiles_Uncaged The main reason she gets locked away at night time is that I have three cats and a cat door, I get worried that a stray cat could come in through the cat door of a night time and attack her in her cage while I'm sleeping.
Also My cats are well trained for for being around small animals..
I hade somthing with a plant just like this and the cool thing is all they did was stay on the plant and I wasn’t even in my room
I have a green male anole sitting on my shoulder that's crazy
A heat lamp screwed to the wall. thats a fire waiting to happen
I bet this works 10X better if you don't have cats...I guess I will have to wait to try again when I don't have cats....lol 😂
Hmmm...this sounds pretty cool but don't they need a higher humidity than my room probably has...
Edit : I didn't see that you misted them yet.
How much do you have to mist them?
They do need higher humidity
LETS GOOOOOO
So cool! Can this work with semi arboreal species like bearded dragons though! I love this, but don't want to lizard to get hurt if he gets lost
Nope
you can catch green anoles for free in florida
Someone's gonna step on the lizards. I can see free-roaming tegus or even beared dragons but not anoles.
Bro you have jade plants in soil with no drainage
I can't wait to have my own house so I can do this crazy stuff 😅
Have you included Geckos as a part of your stock?
We have house geckos in this setup.
You’re the man bro. Do you have any videos with them?
We have a video showing some footage of when they got released. ua-cam.com/video/FWhC9r7NXNQ/v-deo.html
dude get that lamp off your wall ... fire risk
give it some space for the heat ....
This reminds me of when i went to mexico to go live with my grandpa for a month and its dry everywhere and poor exept for his house backyard he keeps a nice tropical environment in his garden and theres frogs and lizards and scorpions that live in there and the frogs would most definitely not survive if they left his backyard it funny too me because he thinks there naturally where he live but they only live in his backyard 😂
What kind of lezard is that one on the video?
Green Anoles. At least I’m pretty sure it is one.
The only issue I have with this is that the vast majority of lizards, frogs, etc… (and even the feeder insects sometimes!) that people own are not native to their area. So if any of them got out, they could become invasive😅
Can you keep anoles and day geckos together?
I wouldn't keep anoles and day geckos together in a tank.
@@Reptiles_Uncaged ty
this man throws a plastic bin on the ground puts soil in puts a plant in it and a light and is like yep this will work totally not gonna get lost at night nope
Wya bro 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Get a house gecko.
It was annoying how many times I got flashed with the phrase uncaged bla bla bla every few seconds.
and hes gonna get bored
nice clickbait thumbnail
