I did this repair for the first time today and I used your method - the job turned out great so thank you its much appreciated! I couldn't get the two flex's to solder together for the first couple of goes but as soon as I added a big blob of solder to the iron to give it the extra heat needed they bonded together lovely. Thanks again!
unfortunately did not work for me. how can you be sure that you don't solder 2 cables together or when putting it on top of the other it is perfectly aligned?
Alhamdulillah all praises to our lord! Master Liu! This video helped me a lot! I have tried this on my MacBook Pro A1707 2017. I followed your tricks exactly. First operation wasn't successful & I got afraid but I succeeded on my second operation. My MacBook Pro 💻 are now totally 💯 ok ✅. I'm grateful to you. Thanks a lot.
Wow… I just followed the iFixit guide to open the MacBook and then your guide regarding the cable, and now the screen turns on again. I still have „stage light“ but not sure if it is because I „repaired“ just one cable or did something wrong - anyhow at least the screen working again! Thank you SO SO MUCH
Hello people. How much longer cable can be made? As i understand this ir common problem because of cable too short. How much longer cable can me kept after soldering compared to original lenght?
Hi Master Liu, I have a question. I have a power button / touchID FOR MacBook Air A2337 , the cable is too short for me to attempt this. Can I just transfer the chips over to another button and if so will this keep Touch ID ?
I'm going to have to try this, my screen has always been dead, i bought it cheap to use with external monitor, it just goes white usually with lines running vertically, a big black line just off center and 3 thinner ones. but when it tries to work you can see most of the screen but get the big line near the middle and the other thinner ones still, and it tends to flicker a lot with no relation to the hinging of the screen.. could well be the cable.
Solder maintains contact and isn’t really meant to hold things together. I would imagine that without the tape the connection it likely to break faster.
how to prevent it ? i just bought an 15'' 2016 max out and i want to prevent this.. i bought it from amazon like "(Renewed)" and work fine but i wanna protect it and i don't have an amazon store in my country yet.
I have a 2017" 13" MBP. I Just keep the lid open all the time, to not put any stress on the cable. I use my laptop always on my desk though, I almost never move around with it. If you have to travel and open the lid regularly, then I would try to avoid opening the lid at max possible angle, as it gives most stress to the cable.
One side has the substrate so if you scrape that away all that you will have left is the fragile copper foil traces. This way the substrate remains intact
Why not use the proper flat cable with the right extra length? I thought it should be available aftermarket, Apple as well released an upgraded version of it if I’m not wrong…
this fix is very stable... a lot of us who are well known about this issue from a long time , we fix and provide 1yr warranty on the very same problem.
@@sajwhat Hi, I am about to attempt this. May I know if the smaller pins in the middle shorted will it cause problem to the display or just no display? I just wanna make sure if I mess the solder nothing will go bad.

Hello
- What kind of solder paste do we need? may you can gimme an ali-link :)
- How many milimeters do we need to scrape?
Thx a lot
After watching this , I will go for it now. Was thinking of giving it to someone to sort it out
after 9 months of consistent opening and closing of the laptop, have you noticed any issues with this method?
Backlight still working after your repair? ;)

YOU ARE TRULY A MASTER
And Apple wants me to replace the entire monitor + labour cost at £565!!! What a joke.
yes, it's expensive,
Same as me!
Ridiculous
Hi guys, does anyone know where I can buy the iron that he uses to heat the glue?
多谢,按照你的这个方法,尝试多次后终于成功了😄
thanks for the solution!!!
can i do same thing if i have issue with screen cable(pink lines on whole display)?

Nice!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 good technique
Do you need to do this for both side just to be safe ?
Awesome techniques sir
can change all the flex ¡¡??
Excellent! The best video on this repair! Thank you!
Thank you
Please add more repair lessons
Brilliant! Love it. Thanks for sharing
Hi I know this was uploaded from a while ago, but does the black tape matter? Or can I just leave the cable as it is? Thanks
Solder maintains contact and isn’t really meant to hold things together. I would imagine that without the tape the connection it likely to break faster.
charge $250 a repair and people would flock to you!

👍👍👍good job master
Very Impressive 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You fix this and how much do you charge?
Where I can buy the screwdriver set??? Somebody know?
What kind of tape was used at 4:00? Was it a vinyl or some other material? Was it electrical tape or splicing tape? Thank you for the video!
It is tesa tape. Although I prefer kapton tape as its thinner.
@@Dimma205gti Probably part of the reason for the tape is rigidity so it won’t break again, kapton may be too thin
This looks very hacky how can you be sure there won’t be a short in the future
Even if there is a short, it would be fine as drivers would stop giving voltage to it
Yes, it will not be short, it should be noted that you need to add some curing glue
@@3ijnweu3oq3 really? There's a protection for short between LCDBKLT and GND, and driver will detect it?
exactly dont do it go and pay $630 to apple make them rich yayy so cute
Beautiful!
Nice master
Screwdriver set?
Hello sir are you in China I have the same issue with my MacBook. I don’t use it any more and I can’t repair it. Can you help me out?
yes ,I'm in China
Y u didnd change it without solder flex cable
any ebay link ?
why not scrape of the other side of the cable so that there is no dent?
One side has the substrate so if you scrape that away all that you will have left is the fragile copper foil traces. This way the substrate remains intact

@@kamalyazid4291 It will not be short, the middle is only the signal line, and the power supply and grounding should not be connected wrongly.
