How on earth can they be Gentlemen's knives when none of them have pearl, bone or ivory handles?
Not to mention the ones that have a clip?
Or a nice wood, like Sandel.
Hahaha. One of the most iconic American knife makers of all time said and I quote
"Pearl handles are for pimps & gamblers"
RW Loveless.
He actually ended making some rare custom vaiants with pearl handles after much convincing.
Gorilla Funk Very interesting! Thankfully I don’t fall into either of those categories, but I still like the idea of a pearl handle. Too many westerns as a child growing up.
@@johnc4774 I don't agree with Mr loveless myself either. But....from a practical point of view pearl and bone unless resin stabilized has a tendency to crack @ the pin rivets over time.
I think pearl or New Zealand paui shell looks awesome. Same with mammoth tusk ivory or many other bone handles.
But be aware that their natural beauty comes at a high price regarding long term durability.
Not one of these has the word "Zombie" in the name. Come on, are you even trying?
Nick Shabazz Oooooh Nick- you kill me!!!!!!!
Good times!
I definitely can see the Z-hunter at a black tie affair!
Nick Shabazz hey nick.
Nick Shabazz is it not up to sir Nickolas’s high standards?
Nick Shabazz imagine a Z-hunter tuxedo
I feel like their boss handed them those coats saying "these should fit"
Genstlemans' knives. Gentlemen's suits. I remember way back last century when I was given a coat and tie so that I could be seated in a restaurant. They didn't fit. I didn't recognize tham until they started to talk.
🤣😂
Loooooooooooooôoł
You haven’t been fitted for a suit have you?
@@krismartin1181 ben’s one really doesn’t
Ben is a gentleman. Miss seeing these videos with him. I think we can all hope our sons grow up to be as kind, respectful and uplifting as he is
What happened to Ben?
"Wrong, wrong, wroong, wroooong" Lol, that was hilarious!
“If you’re not a 12 year old kid at scout camp, you won’t scar yourself”. So true 😂
A gentleman does not have bling, a gentleman has class.
I've always thought that stilettos in classic Italian style were very classy.
that would be my top pick for a knife, except that i hear they arent necessarily built to last. hence why im here.
@@ZombieLincoln666 so for you and your dads?
Higonokami's are also decent gentlemen's knives. Sleek, elegant and incredibly sharp and good for office tasks. I always carry one on my job.
A gentleman's knife, to me, should be one that if you had to use in a social setting will not cause alarm to those around you. Tacticool of any kind are not gentlemen knives. Luckily knives come in all shapes and sizes and it's okay to own as many as you want for whatever circumstances you find yourself in.
Yeah I don't get the auto and flipper knives in their selection. Way too much potential for unwanted attention.
I've found that even in my workplace my Benchmade 940-1 carbon fiber doesn't cause too much issue. The carbon fiber just gives it an elegant look, and even though it's a long blade, the elegance offsets it a lot. You also can't get much better quality for the cost until you get up to the sebenzas
The best gentleman’s clothing traditionally came with a knife... it’s a kilt
Never wear a kilt without your trusty Sgian-dubh
The perfect two words for a gentleman's knife are: slim and minimalistic
I love that urban trapper. The Civivi elementum looks classy to me as well
I've had mine for years and the handle scales have gotten a lot darker over time. They didn't mention the most remarkable thing about it and that's the weight. At under 2oz, it doesn't weigh down your pocket. That may be why the price of it is a lot higher now than when they made this video.
I love all the Banters, it's fun on this side as well.
I wear a suit almost daily, I won't use pocket clips with my slacks anymore. The thing you guys neglect to mention is how fast those clips wear out the less durable materials slacks are made of.
This makes my needs for a "gentleman's knife" somewhat unique. It has to be slim, but it also needs to be small so that it isn't heavy at the bottom of my pocket.
Personally I was thinking about the Kershaw Leek
I've classed mine up a bit with bronze anodized body and pivot screws. It's the 14c28n spine / D2 composite. Looks great. It's my "gentleman's carry" until I decide to finally buy the Feist.
Agreed. I have one for that reason. Love it.
Floris Apon William Henry.
@@davidmathews2124 I 2nd that William Henry
I have a plain stainless handle Leek, it’s probably the slimmest knife on the market, they feel non-existent in your pocket.
"Front Creases" - I'm never calling them pleats again lol. Love it!
I love carrying my ZT0450CF in my dress slacks, just needs the deep carry clip!
HudaHudaBest What? I had to google ‘pleats’ 😂!
I wear a suit at the very least 3 times a week. Often times every day. THANK YOU for this video. I have been waiting for it. It's awesome.
Ezra Veno look at a company called James brand, the county is nice
For James I'd go Ellis, similar slim profile, with better blade & extra tool.
The Mnandi is absolutely a classic... and the clip is pure Art Deco!
Sleek, small, smooth and polished, wood or other classic scales are an easy pick. Modern/cool stuff might work but probably not with the wrong execution. The clip if it has one needs to be simple or smooth looking, attractive but not distracting. When in doubt, look at pens for reference or even match.
For me my »CRKT Swindle« (Sanvik) is the perfect and safest gentleman solution for the "vertical-pocket-problem"...cause of it's unique styled spring assisted pocket-clip!
"Swindle" also sounds about right for a gentleman's folder🤔👊
45 seconds in: in my fancy cloths I always have my urban trapper with me. VG10, ball bearing pivot, and slender. A lovely knife.
CRKT CEO ..low buck and classy as f...
agreed)
One of the best, nut when you look at price, it becomes THE BEST :)
Agreed but it came out after this video I believe
Shut the fuck up
Y’all are rad!
Even when your videos have nothing to do with me, I still watch and enjoy.
Keep it up.
Thanks!
My gentleman knife is the espada
Theres no other kind even worthy of being mentioned
The California legal one of course
I’m sure you would get charged with
Some form of terrorist act if you where to pull that out in public
Sullyvan The funny thing is that Espada XL is completely legal in CA; there aren't any length restrictions for normal folders.
Sullyvan as long as u know ur shit n got the right paperwork ur good
Whoever edited in that windows sound effect, this one's for you 😂🍺
I've been carrying my Boker Urban Trapper for over a year now and I wear dress slacks every day for work. I used to carry much bulkier heavier knives and this was my first dive into something more slim and gentlemanly. Definitely love it! I convinced my dad to get one as well. It opens so smooth, and no one is scared of surprised by it, but its still fully functional.
About a year ago I had to decide on a knife to wear with a suit and slacks. I decided on the Gerber 39 series. I needed something without a pocket clip, because no matter how suave it looks, the pocket clip detracts from the professional appearance. The same with something that is 2 hand opening, so I don't attract unneeded attention while deploying the blade. And finally, the lock-back design is a timeless classic, exactly what a gentleman should have.
I personally always use traditional pocket knives for when I need to dress up. The two I use are the Buck 503 Prince and the Boker Countess in Damascus (both are back locks)
My Benchmade Valet is my Gentleman's knife. Love that knife.
The magic of Ben/Austin/Zach knife banter just hasnt been recaptured
1) I'd take the Boker all day long
2) To avoid the negative "auto stigma", when you need to deploy in that kind of situation, simply execute a fake wrist flip. Boom! It's demoted to a flipper sand the soccer moms will feel just a bit better.
3) You forgot a couple of classic gentlemen's knives: Victorinox Classic and Case Peanut. (A lot of small Cases, actually)
Best inexpensive gentlemen’s folder is the crkt swindle hands down! It has a clip made for suit pockets...surprised it wasn’t in the video.
Confirmed: Zac has hair. I figured the hat was to disguise a bald spot.
Watch the Shot Show playlist!!
Released on my birthday! Thanks for the video guys, love watching these! I promise I'll come visit Blade HQ sometime!!!
Ok, I don't know if they speak of this in the comments much but from all I saw scrolling through there is not enough talk about the great editing, sound effects/clips. Really brings out the colour of what they are speaking about and is very entertaining and helpful.
I usually carry a benchmade 940, and either a GEC 15 TC , or a GEC eureka jack for gentlemens carry
Closest I would have to a "gentleman's knife" would have to be my Benchmade Carbon Osborn, and according to this it checks the boxes. Slim, sleek, s90v and carbon fiber. One of my favorites for sure
It should have made it on their list but Ben and Zac weren’t fans of the 940, so I suspect that’s why it was left out from the video
As a gentleman's knife my go to is always my CRKT Delegate. It's no longer available but it's inoffensive to even the most easily "concerned" about knives as weapons. The fire safe mechanism is magnificent, way to use and hard to mess up with
I'm from sandy UT. I subscribed just because you guys are in Utah as well. But now that I see what quality of videos you guys hand out I'm loyal to you guys lol. Keep it up!!!!
Surprised you don't have a Laguiole on the table. The French are masters in making large gents knifes!
Best enjoyed with food, for me at least.
Yes, or an Opinel. Very gentlemanly style knives.
In continental Europe there is nothing more blue collar than an Opinel.
Robert Underdunk Terwilliger I'm sure that's true, but it seems like _everything_ European comes off as high class in the US, especially if it's French. I'm sure it's like that most places with anything imported, though, since importing used to make things way more expensive.
Other than a Stanley you mean right? ;)
I think a Gentleman’s knife should also be judged by how someone who isn’t a knife nut would react. Us Knife nuts may recognize a knifes beauty for its blade material, handle material, it’s action and other things. But non-knife nuts are for the most part going just off of looks.
Clownless Carnival
Everything you just described is looks.
Material Like as gantleman , knive a would Pick Wood handle thin smal Blade Not a pokit Machete
Score another vote for the Mermaid!
@@comptonislife9046 neither blade steel nor action are looks.
Austin Z. Jones
Well the action could be. For example if somebody pulled out a switch blade in front of grandma she would feel threatened. If you pulled a slipjoint out in front of grandma she would feel more comfortable. More than likely
This is the best “what is up guys” we have ever been given.
Even while wearing a tuxedo, there's been the same Victorinox Explorer in my pocket since 1987.
My gentleman carry is a Victorinox Compact. - it is a slip joint. + it is not alarming when taken out. Btw great episode.
Yep Swiss Army pocket folders are must
My slipjoint got my finger too. Somehow. It's a knife that demands respect.
I firmly believe the Kershaw Leek, especially in blackwash, should be on this list. Smooth metal body for easy pocket use and no tear, clean simple lines, one handed operation.
Great video guys! I love knives on any occasion. Great delivery on the comedy.
That intro is like the Deadpool Ross trailer! Hi Zach!
I wear my cold steel Berserker dual-wielded battle axe with my Conor McGregor pinstripe f*** you limited edition suit
that's the most badass combo I could possibly think of
I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work guys!
I’ve had that exact urban trapper for about a year now. Love it 👍
I think a gentlemans knife has to be classy, slim and when you open it inn public nobody should call the cops
Whoever edits knife banter needs a raise, best edits in the game gahdammit
You folks look dapper in suits. And those knives are amazing. Thanks for this video, it got my mood lifted.
Slim, smooth, slick, simple yet classy and visually appealing. Thats my criteria for a gentleman's knife
No Kwaiken?
I carry my 940 in everything I wear 100% of the time even in swim trunks I'm rocking my 940.
Love the Viper EZ Open, Case (any medium/ small knife), GEC (see previous), and Lionsteel Barlows.
These two were the best pair on this channel
Mine gents knife is the Spyderco Chaparral Rafir Noble. Not very slim, but very cool.
No Gentleman's knife lineup wouldn't be complete without an Italian made knife (like the Lionsteel Opera) and at least one SAK (my choice would be the Cadet).
Great vid, cheers guys, you rocked these suits (looking like a couple of Wedding Crashers lol).
ATech Reviews was going to comment "where is the SAK?"
hayder1976 True, SAK is the quintessential gentleman/officer knife.
Xanopos M7 is a great knife, wouldn't call it a gentleman knife though lol
My Italian made Gentleman knife is the Fantoni Dweller in Cocobolo with leather slip case. More traditional slip joint, light weight and smaller (2.5) wharncliffe blade
I have to mention the gentleman's knife I received for Christmas. My Deejo knife, is a slim, lightweight, elegant solution.
I like when you all were talking about your slip joint scars. Definitely have one from when I was a kid on my finger
Great video! I almost never wear a suit or even slacks, but if I do, the 940 works in a pinch.
Yep yep. Out of the 20ish give or take I have the 940 is the tops for me as well. Just picked up the 940-1 in g-10 really liking it with my dress slacks
rekozma p
I have the 940-1 in the carbon fiber look and it’s beautiful!
@@rekozma you are thinking of the 940-2
*I'm here from Ben's collection video.*
I recently bought a very beautiful Case XX Red Bone Trapper. Both blades are very sharp, and it is quite easy to carry as well. I believe it is a great example of a gentleman's knife.
In addition to the Buck Nobleman series, I’m adding the Steel Will Cutjack Mini in FRN/D2 to my favorite gentleman’s carry knives! Great video as always guys, I look forward to the next chapter, nice suits too fellas!
Very classy "What iiiiiiiiiss up guys!"
Chris Reeves you make my wallet cry pennies! I want that blade!
Spyderco C173GP Hungarian Folding Knife 3.63" CTS XHP Blade, Polished G10 Handles now that’s a gentleman’s knife!
Boker Plus Burnley Kwaiken flipper, titanium scales. Done.
Oh, wait - the Protech Godson auto, in tuxedo.
Great channel, guys!
Accoutrements is a totally legit word... it probably is french in origin... or at least sounds cool with a french accent.
ac·cou·tre·ment
/əˈko͞odərmənt,əˈko͞otrəmənt/
noun
plural noun: accoutrements
additional items of dress or equipment, or other items carried or worn by a person or used for a particular activity.
"the accoutrements of religious ritual"
Am I the only one that thinks stiletto switchblades are classy
But also tacky
Depends, if you get a little one, sure, a big one just looks threatening
Corny yea.
Whoa look out Mr. Italian mobster is here.
Watching this 5 years later. I never really wore a suit back then, but these days, I'm wearing slacks/suits daily for work (I'm a men's wear consultant and Sunday-school teacher/youth leader). I typically carry my Microtech UTX-85 because of the slim profile, or my Benchmade mini-bugout. The straight pockets are painful to use, and sometimes even the slimmest knives bulge or wear my slacks out.
Love the Spyderco Sage series and the BM940-1 for gentlemen's folders.
Also, Manix 2 LW with a loop over wire clip from a Sage carries AMAZINGLY well in slacks or suit pants, if you want a bigger knife
Best gm knife is the ZT 0450
even the 0452cf! Light enough, slim profile, yet packs a massive blade!
ZT0450cf, better looking than any knife on that table. I have a CA legal Protech halfbreed in black/CF if I need something a little smaller.
Gotta disagree. Like the M16, the 0450 is easily carried but it would look out of place at a black tie event. The lines on it are too aggressive, too "murdery".
Alexandre Aubrey I think the 0450CF is small enough to not look to scary. I get what you mean though. But a bunch in this lineup could look out of place, the Newport looks clean but the “switchblade” would draw some looks. The urban trapper is a little bigger than I would look for a classy knife too. I think all of these knives fit the profile of gentlemanly it just depends on personal preferences.
My vote goes to the factory bronze 0808 (0808GLD I think?) I threw some bronze hardware from MXG Gear on mine as well as the lanyard from a Spyderco PPT and now it’s classy af.
My gentleman knife is a Medford praetorian or a Cold Steel Espata XL or a Ka-Bar USMC
jon lipton USMC perfect gentlemen knife
I prefer the z-hunter karambit for my gentlemanly needs
My current two favorite gents knives are of course, the massdrop gent with wood scales and the WE miscreant. An honorable mention would be the spyderco raffir noble chaparral.
Great vid guys!
Love my Boker Kwaiken, makes me feel very gentlemanly (new word)
Just ordered 5 knives from you guys, can't wait until they get here!
I think the Kershaw Leek should replace the crkt m16 IMO
I'm not going to wear a knife on a clip with my suit. I have a couple of Benchmade carbon fiber/titanium knives with blades less than 3" that are very thin and light. I removed the clips and carry them in my suit pocket. They are unobtrusive and perfect for the task.
Yeah I think their selections were way too too clip focused.
Yea clip on suit looks awful
I don’t have a gentleman knife yet but you guys did feature my 2 favorite ones, the Kiser feist and the benchmade proper. Thanks for the awesome video
The carbon fiber Benchmade 940-1 will be my suit carry for a long time. Just a gorgeous and elegant shape to the blade and handle.
Kershaw LEEK, COMPOSITE BLADE
MODEL 1660CB
I usually carry my opinel
Yeah that should have been option 1.
Opinel 13 is a Nice choice
OleST i prefer the number 8 cause it fits in my pocket and 13 is just a little too big.
just a little huh..
What number
Case Doctor's Knife is very gentlemanly in an old-timey sort of way.
Just ordered the Al Mar, been looking for this knife for awhile... Thanks!
I’d also recommend a mercator k55k, it’s slim, classy and has a great lock, made in Germany for 150 years and carried through both world wars. Pretty cheap too, got mine for 35$ on sale.
I like that knife too. It is slim, but classy? And it’s a bit long.
gentleman's knives cant be "murdery"
True, they can be gentleman bastard though, a knife that says "good sir/madam, I may or may not attempt to steal you're life, with my apologies."
@@cleanwater3180 I genuinely do not know how to feel about this
Love my Kershaw AM-4 for gent's carry. Newest classy, but large, gentleman's carry is the brass/micarta Boker Kwaiken from BladeHQ! Keep up the great work.
All black, stainless frame Kershaw Leek. So slim. So snappy. Super pointy. It's my go to wedding/funeral suit knife. ...that or an all black ultratech. sometimes both!
A Spyderco delica 4 with a stainless steel handle is a great gentlemany knife: Small, great steel, and doesn't look agressive. I also go with a real french-made Laguiole: Beautiful, very traditional.
What...? Large Espada didn;t make the list?
Hilarious editing, especially the pocket clip Hades part
The SOG Twitch II with wood scales is the perfect gentleman's knife. Classy and small enough not seem aggressive, but very nice with the spring assisted flicker.
i love the editing you have one of the best show on youtube
Haha, the battle of the B U L G E kappa
I've carried the Boker Urban Trapper for years now - I wear everything from tactical pants, jeans to suits, etc. The low profile clip makes it perfect for low concealment, not wearing out my pockets and great for getting to when needed. The price has come now over the years, but its still somewhat pricy - still I've purchased and tried out lesser priced, but similar styled knives - only to find out that they are not low profile, but are really thick handled, bulky and heavy. The Boker comes with a tool to tighten the handles or change them out if you want to change handles. The blade holds its edge really really well. Overall I have to give it a solid A-. I'm currently looking at the knives by deejo.com - around the same price, but with a lot more customization. Of course, back in my airborne days I carried a variety of different work blades, but you carry what the environment you are in demands.
Benchmade 940 should be on the list. It was made to be a work knife but also able to be dressed up and taken to square dances.
