This Tournament Has PIPERUNNERS!
#awbw #advancewars #nintendo - Ігри
This map practically revolves around pipe runners you say?
No. Piperunners revolve around this map.
My exact thoughts lol
It's hilarious how the piperunner meta revolves around blocking the opponents with your own
It's all about knowing when to go for the kiss
@@DaRocc2 THE WHAT?!
That Ex Machina manipulation was an outstanding move, that base block was superb
I must be missing something. How does lowering the value of the antiair vehicle increase the odds of the exmachina to strike in that area?
I mean, would not exmachina go for the target with the most value? This just does not make much sense.
Additionally: I think that Ex Machina was still a 50/50? The Neo and AA it hit was $30,000, but there was also a group of Bomber, Artillery, and 2 Infantry that have the same combined value. Unless there's some hidden tiebreaker I'm unaware of.
@@Nick3lass3 Might be a case of misspeaking. By striking the Anti-Air, they change it from a coin-flip on which it will hit to a certainty. Neotanks cost 22k, 2000 more than Piperunners. So it could ever only hit the Neotank near one of the anti-airs.
Ex machina strikes where it will deal the most damage. It will tie break by targeting the farthest north-west tile. It would have hit the northmost anti-air and neotank. Once the North anti-air is at 1 hp, the highest damage it can deal is 3 damage to the South anti-air and 3 to the neotank: 9000 funds worth of damage. Note it cannot deal 3 damage to the north anti-air anymore, since it does not have 3 hp to lose.
So he did redirect it, but I think Mangs misspoke and it was never going to target a single pipe runner. The Ex machina baselock was cool to see!
Terran themes fits REALLY well with Advance Wars
damn i noticed the music and was like, "HOL' UP is that ...? OMG it is the terran theme" lmao
🎶
7:50 Mangs, its because of AWBW not the fault of the replayer. The logs in the web doesnt register the attacks to pipes, so a replayer can never do it by itself. It would be like guessing if someone attacked the pipe or not.
I like how map designers keep coming up with ways to keep an ancient game fresh.
I feel like Piperunners would be the perfect focus unit for building a stealth map. Place the pipes so that opposing runners can’t target each other, but then load them with predeployed runners. Then coat the rest of the map in woods, and you have a map where the idea is to play fog of war and not get spotted.
Maybe I’ll try making something like that if I ever return to AWBW. My previous map attempts have been stuff like this: more experimental maps with gimmick concepts.
When I was in this tournament, I was Sami against a Grit player.
The other player almost destroyed all of my army, but they left an infantry dangerously near to their lab and I had Victory March charged...
And then I lost the next match against Kindle.
That ex machina turn was actually unbelievable... I didn't catch the base locking move. Sort of related but now I wish there were AWBW puzzles kind of like in Chess where you're in a "make the winning move this turn" situation, this would definitely be a worthy entry to such a game mode.
Well, for what it's worth, Wargroove had those
Dual Strike's Survial Mode is pretty much that
Finally.Piperunner map. This fight will be legendary.
Interesting. I played a Von Bolt mirror on this map and we had a big clash in the center with lots of Megatanks. We both went for them because piperunners don't do much damage to mega tanks.
"if you mess with the old man in a wheelchair, he's going to put you in one"
*certain exceptions apply
After binging you for a while, I have just made my account at AWBW, trying my first matches. I also attempted to make a map and I'm currently testing it (not published yet, but I'm quite content with it, thinking it provides for fun games - name to be is Pipe dream).
It's meant for Standard, but has the third base and the airport for each player locked behind a pipe seam to create some more dilemma in the capture phase. It also allows to use a Piperunner as a pivot point for attacking your opponent's comm tower and some cities and has one more pipe seam to render Piperunners unviable, but makes the third base more valuable when pushing your opponent. Or it allows to attack that base if someone is careless.
Submit it to mangs later, I wanna see it be played by him..maybe in a challenge run who knows.
I joined this tournament and chose to go Grit, seeing as i wanted to try out pipe runners... However my opponent picked Javier. Needless to say, i got destroyed. Rip.
Terran music? This is gonna be good
6:00 it's not good to open your airport too early, otherwise you can't get any piperunners down that side.
You know shits serious when Grits brought out a shotgun rather than his six shooter.
I recognised that Starcraft background music instantly
Loving the StarCraft background music it just makes the game that more exciting
19:40 i don't get that argumentation about the SCOP hit
Yeah, mangs did not explain it well. Lemme try. If he used ex machina before attacking the aa then it would've hit the neo tank and the upper aa. By reducing it to 1hp he redirected the scop the hit the neo and the lower aa on the base
@@royalghost4914 Why did he say the Ex Machina would fall onto the piperunners then?
@@Posby95 he completely messed up. The net worth of neo + aa was more than the net worth of piperunner and other stuff at top
@@Posby95 the ex machina would've never hit the piperunners at top cuz it cannot hit units worth more than a neo + aa (i.e. 30k) there.
@@royalghost4914 yeah that's what i thought. he just pointed in the wrong corner
I don't get it... You reduce the value of an area and that makes it more likely to be Ex Machina'd? Shouldn't it be LESS likely?
My thoughts exactly.
I think he meant less likely to hit the aa he bombed and the neo tank and instead the ex machina would go for the aa in the base and neotank so he would be base locked
Mangs when he sees 2 piperunners:
*"now kiss"*
Everyime you say "Bomb-Bers" it makes my day.
I didn't realize this tourney had started, and I logged in one day to discover I had auto-picked Grit.
RIP my Quack Cup run. Lol
Im currently playing in the Quack cup and I love these maps! They are such a breath of fresh air :)
I love watching advance wars with sc2 music going. It's like the best if both worlds
Terran music got me yelling "FOR THE HOOOOORDE"
Hello mangs!, i am from PH. I was surfing on YT yesterday then I saw your content. Can't believe that AW community still kept going. In fact, I never knew that there was an Online Multiplayer game and i feel wonder, very nice that contents like this (especially AW) exist (and so does the community). And best wishes!.
Great music choice! Really fits the game! Terrans have sweet tunes.
those were some nice neotanks mangs 21:46
This was my first tournament. I was so excited when I signed up. My first match just ended yesterday because my opponent kept waiting 5 days between turns even though he had the advantage of playing Grit. It made me sad and I forfeited after the game lasting multiple weeks.
14:10 thats my kink for sure
Dope music, man. Great choice. That guitar tone brings me such ‘95-‘00 good vibes. That fiddle bringing in a taste of the bluegrass/blues-jazz flavour that reflects a Grit matchup so spot-on, without going country. And yet still subtle enough to be sick atmosphere music without being either boring or in-yer-face. Thumbs up.
man these gimick matches makes for good youtube content keep it mangs. also i have no idea how you keep showing up in my recomended considering i have no clue what this game does but i have watched you for about a year already so clearly i enjoy it
Id love to see you cover future matches of the quack cup this is so interesting
Mangs' galaxy brain play: sacking his bomber to bring an anti air down to 1 HP :D
Never thought I'd hear StarCraft music in one of these vids, love that game's OST
If all the maps are like this one, I'm looking forward to a commentary of each of your matches!
Yes, same! Gimme that nonsense!
Huh, I wondered why someone chose Max against me when Grit was available. Makes sense that it's a counter-counter pick against Javier. I chose Drake due to the fact that piperunners can't realistically heal or refuel. Plus, I never bothered breaking the pipe blocking the airport, so there were practically no downsides, just piperunners spam.
Awwww shit. Mangs brought back the Starcraft background music. Loving it Mangs.
I love these videos, thanks for making them :3
Good choice of music there :)
I would pick VB here too and damn, he seems a lot stronger than I thought. His super just comes in a lot faster than most would think.
I love these commentaries!!
I love the starting with Terran 2 from SC1. Best song
End Song~
Grit your teeth, we're going in hot. Or sing till the fat lady arrives, either or.
Starcraft II had such godlike music god
Piperunners Kissing has to be a piece of fanart. XD
I had a matchup against Grit on this map for the tourney. Luckily I’ve gotten into the habit of anytime Grit is available even as a choice I just pick Javier
Oh hey! I remember my match on this map. I was worried about Pipe Runners, especially Grit Pipe Runners, so I picked my main man Javier to just say "Nope" to Indirects. My opponent also happened to pick Javier so the Piperunners in my match were really not that big of a game changer.
Someone needs to count how many times the word "piperunner" was said in this video. Some sections where it's said like 10 times within 30 secs or less. Lol. Quality content as always. :)
I've never seen a piperunner before. This should be fun.
oh god that starcraft music
"Babe, would you still love me if I was a piperunner?"
I thought this map was so fun, I've chosen Andy for both of my Quack cup matches because Andy loves expensive tanky units. I was disappointed to see your opponent for the second match resigned on turn 1, or let himself time out on turn 1, because I was hoping to review your game after I'd finished my own. Now the 3rd map looks super interesting, first match I've had where I'm going back to watch previous games played on it to see what kind of opener I want to go with.
That Starcraft music 🦍
Amazing AWBW video : )
To make this even crazier - add 20 missile silos to the map.
Came for the AW, stayed for the SC Terran music.
This sounds fun, I love it when maps force rare units because most pro players know them less, black bombs next?
Well, Black Bombs are rare not because they are bad like the Piperunners, but because they are stupidly good. Thus, you’d have to make a map where the Black Bombs would be worse than normal, and then unban them. Kinda hard to do without just making an awful map filled with pipes to block the BBs movement. Best thing I can think of is to keep them banned but pre-deploy them locked behind pipe seams, similar to the campaign mission they are introduced in
@@jewishbanana that would be better then nothing, and probably also the only way it could work
Just love the use of Starcraft music^^
Even Grit and this map can't make Piperunners work against standard airport shit
Why did taking value away from down there divert the Ex Machina?
Piperunner kissing looks so cool though
I can Identify this music from like 10KM away. God i love starcraft, and god i love advance wars ^^
You have a good taste in gaming
KM?
@@theresaurus9820 the superior unit of measurement, also known as kilometer
@@art-games6230 Ah, yes, I forgor; you guys still use that woke measurement system.
@@theresaurus9820 it’s simply superior, btw, USA officially uses metric too, how do you think a “pound” is defined
Even in actual Dual Strike, I never deploy piperunners, due to just how obvious their weakness is: they need pipes to move. On most War Room maps, you actually can’t do anything with them. Shame, they seem decently strong (sure they only do rocket damage, but a rocket with that much movement is scary). Looking forward to their true potential in this tournament.
I love how i've seen more grit piperunners from mangs then grit battleship
Fun match, fun tournament idea! Fun map.
Loved this video, your commentary is very helpful for me because I find Grit players to be utterly annoying, so thank you so much for the tips of the strategy to use against them. Anyways, the match was pretty awesome. Great use of the Ex Machina Mangs!
I like this length for an AW video.
Wait why did the Ex Machina go from the top right to the middle by "reducing its' value"?
Grit seems like a bad candidate for this map. Since both players would want to bust out their airport, that immediately diminishes the possibilities from the pipe-runners. High funds go outside of the units Grit's meta favors, spamming cost-effective units. Expensive long-range units just don't seem to make back their investment, unless your missile picks off a bomber or something. Plus, with high funds, COs will earn their super powers more quickly, when Grit wants to repeatedly use his regular power. Most of the map looks open, with the mountains covering safe areas in your own territory, IE hunkering behind them won't let you protect anything worthwhile. Is there something that'd give him some kind of edge I'm not noticing?
StarCraft music!
I LOVE that you used the SC1 Terran theme, one of my favorites in the original Starcraft game
(EDIT) I just realized you used SC2 Terran theme as well :)
I played this match and I forgot Javier was available.
I had the same match up. I played Von Bolt against Grit. My enemy yielded after I broke some pipes. I won because I rushed on getting properties and kept them for me.
Ooh - ahh!
I'm in this tournament. I won the first round, too.
When we getting that unit analysis video on Piperunners? ;)
I faced a grit before the tourney. I let him build a deathball , and ex Machina killed 10+ artys in a turn. It was beautiful.
Very nicely played Mangs, a swift and clean victory. What I don't understand though, is your rhetoric behind the Ex Machina manipulation. You attack an anti-air in the middle, so instead of the top, the Super hits the middle because of reduced value there, huh? Probaply just a slip of the tongue, at least you didn't say anything about a little child this time....
Personally, I think the piperunners are a trap. It's pretty much a two base map, rushing it with Max seems like the best thing to do. Air units are also incredibly strong, because it is very hard to front-shift your anti-air due to all the mountains in the middle. But who am I to speak, I lost with Max to Von Bolt because I miscalculated the charge he could get.
I hope the commanders will be balanced in the reboot.
How does Ex Machina work, if reducing the hp of his unit helped you aim it better?
The Starcraft music fits.
I love piperunners, they are the most underrated unit in the game. You just need a pipeline (even just 1 square) next to the base, or build them on cities as Hachi, and they are lethal.
Building them on cities sounds very great actually. Actual defense, permanent resupply and repair, putting an extra obstacle for would-be cappers.
@@aristocraticcthulhu3831 Hyper vulnerable to tanks.
Dangs Bangs Mangs. Also, teach ducks to play, so they can join the cup, if a fish was able to beat pokemon, why can't ducks play aw?
Quack
Don't mind me, just quacking for the algorithm
Big fan of the sc2 terran music
I love the starcraft and starcraft 2 BGM ..makes me wonder do u play that game .?cuz i actually love watching and playing that game
I won with the same matchup as Mangs in my game. I was disappointed that stealths were banned on this map.
>SC1 Terran music
instant like from me, good stuff
I still can't believe I won out here as a 0T Javier.
I can't believe i never notice how good Grit is here 💀 but i played against Max so would lost anyway
Your HF tier list is outdated, it got updated some time ago with one of the changes being the addition of a tier 4.
Sadly, my tourney game didn't go like this. I foolishly let my opponent build up his indirects and become unstoppable, I couldn't even have the piperunners kiss because his was already covered by arties and more piperunners. Maybe I was doomed the moment I picked Andy, but I didn't want to slog through a Grit mirror and I stubbornly still refused to use Von Old even in official games.
Oh thank you. I'll update it!
Hey, I wanted to let you know if you didn't, you played Wargroove a long time ago and I'm watching it now and absolutely love the videos, but did you know there's a co-op campaign centered around the outlaws where you can fight Caesar? (Also pikemen are 250 gold now btw lol)
9:59 wtf with Grit’s capturing piperuner on the bottom
Nice game 👍
I didn’t understand the ex machina but we’ll played
19:45 => What ? i have absolutely no understanding of how attacking the AA made Ex Machina go from top area to bottom. It doesn't make any sens to me.
Edit : my bad, did the math and now makes sense.
The was still the pack of Bomber + arty + 2 inf adding up to the same value but that was a good call.
Up!
"Escaping ARK-HAM" ... someone is not much of a Batman guy.
