I rented a 200 and I absolutely loved it I almost didn't want to give it back lol. It's sad chyrsler decided to discontinue this car I really thought they had a winner on their hands
Mine has worked great. No issues (knock on wood). I absolutely love this car. Its quite. Has a nice system and luxury look for not much money comparatively. The only thing I had to get used to I didn't care for were the poor sight lines driving this vehicle. It's fine when you get used to it....but it takes a little time to figure out where the car starts and ends toward the front and back and around pillars.
It’s a ZF 9 speed transmission which could also be found in the Acura TLX V6 and Honda Pilot. Apparently it was a very problematic transmission despite being made by the legendary ZF company.
I just bought a 2015 200 limited and love love love it ! Great car in every area .power , performance , handling and very comfortable . Just a great auto !
The styling of that car is superb, not a boring line anywhere. Now, if they would only stop mounting all those sensors and cameras in the bumpers without adequate protection surrounding them. I live in Brooklyn, where bumpers really do get bumped!
Did anyone notice in the engine close-ups that in the V-6 view the engine is mounted longitudinally and the 4 cylinder transversally? I guess someone took stock footage of a 300 V-6 view(RWD) and thought no one would notice?
I love the 200S what a nice looking ride and to have 293/3.6L awd it would be fun to drive. I dislike the extra gears anything past 6 speed auto tends to spend too much time shifting around.
I would say anything 8 speed or more. I rented a Infiniti Q50 with a 7 speed and it didn’t shift around. The 8 Speeds in the Chrysler and Toyota products shifted around a whole lot, especially the Toyota. Every slight hill I drove on, the rpms rose a bit. I rented a Jeep Renegade with 9 Speed and it had trouble on the highway trying to get into the 9th gear. I have a 2009 Chrysler 300 with a 4 speed auto and the rpms hold steady on moderate hills and even going up a 1800 ft mountain on I-64 outside of Charlottesville.
Looks great. All the reviews I've seen have been good. The online production video is impressive. Attention to detail and quality appear to be greatly improved. Hopefully, Chrysler got it right this time.
the front looks so much better than the fords and the transmission shift in form of a wheel is innovative and practical. the ford ecoobost engine has the maximum torque already at 2600rpm and is a pleasant quiet, its mpg is good too, not sure if this chrysler can compete with that and all the features of ford like the radar distance control etc
MY 2016 chrysler 200C AWD is great my 200C AWD snickered for $39,000, has tech package "forward collision warning" automatically brakes if sense crash it activated once at low speed I was distracted for moment. My Wife liked Panoramic sunroof and Linen/Black colored interior and Exterior color Pitch Black paint color. Very quick and fast car with 3.6 liter Pentastar engine with 295 horsepower AWD. Sport mode is great fun when using paddle shifters on steering wheel. Blast to drive wife and I love driving car. I had to replace tires at 40,000 miles bur I purchased a set of Michelin pilot series 4 season tires really handles better then stock tires. I have 50,000 miles on car now mostly sits in garage next to my Jeep Cherokee Overland 4x4.
Like the new design... But... Their reliability has been a train wreck over the years. I can spend my money elsewhere and still get a great looking car that is going to spend more time on the road vs the shop. Gonna have to pass.
Design wise yes. Internally no. Same shit ass transmission that's in the dart is in this thing. I have friends that are fixing these things as we speak who work for Dodge. They have told me to stay away. If they say stay away, I have to. You don't get better advice than from the guys working on the cars. This is a pretty piece of shit. If you do buy one, buy it new so you get the full warranty. You're going to need it.
David Huntley, sorry, but you're 100% wrong on that claim. The Dart has a 6-speed transmission either from Powertech or FPT. The new 200 has a ZF-built 9-speed. Also, this _is_ the first all-new 200, even internally. The old 200 and Avenger were warmed-over Sebrings. Yuck. This one has a legitimate shot at being something special, though. I just wish they wouldn't have done the Detroit skyline accent- it strikes me as tacky.
This was a sleek handsome midsized sedan. It’s a shame that it didn’t last very long. Chrysler got almost everything right except entry into the backseat.
Last time I checked this said Chrysler 200 not Impala, Jetta, Mazda 6, Sonota, Audi, and whatever the heck people say that it "copied." It's not copying them. They are called design trends, and cars tend to have similar features and look similar. With that being said the front is a very calm look for Chrysler, but I think it looks very handsome. Perhaps it will attract those who like bland cars like a Accord or Camry.
I feel like the Rotary Dial shifter is a welcome change. It's something more unique than a bulky shifter. It saves space and allows them to make a pretty neat console. It wouldn't be the first time Chrysler has used something other than a stick gear shifter for their vehicles... Recall their push button automatic transmission way back in the late 1950s
Transmission controller from Jaguar/Range Rover..,down side of dash from Audi A6/8..,up side of dash/screen somewhat Hyunday i30/40..,door inside panels are from Audi A6. Exterior has a bits of Tesle here and there..overall a car with no personality. Park it somewhere and no one would tell what car that is,same as the drivers behind you. That design would fit more to a 2012 Oldsmobile Aurora.
so with blinkers in headlights ,when flashers are on like headlights flashing,i have problem wth low top of windshield ,mirror usually higher in other cars , extended long front window ,guess for air flow.
If you can't design a console with room for decent sized cupholders without replacing a shift lever with a small, plasticky, cheap-feeling knob then who the hell are you trying to impress?
haha not really. Idk what kind of overpriced stereo systems you are talking about. How about you test drive one and feel all of the soft touch materials before you judge.
Soft touch materiel is one thing in a car but if I can't enjoy driving it then what should I care if the dashboard is made of genuine leather? If a proper stick works just fine as is then why the hell change it to some damn silly retracting knob? I grew up in a different time and I learned when you want to put a nail in a piece of wood, you don't need to do anything fancy or glamorous. Just take a hammer and keep hitting the sonofabitch until it's in.
pontiacGXPfan Because it's more high tech. Like it or not cars are going to keep moving forward. If you don't innovate you depreciate. If they don't advance then the competition will, and then they will eventually be out of business. Same thing with the 9 speed auto. Better performance, better economy, innovation. The olden days of throwing in a big engine into a very slightly redesigned vehicle and calling it a day are done.
A LOT! Better then the last one in every way. Still, i have little trust in this company even though this car looks promising. Please change out the cheap chinese tires when you get the car.
..chap Chinese tires? More than half of what every american comes in contact with is "cheap Chinese" as you so delicately say it. How about we drop what race its from and just judge it on how well its made..
Huge improvement but I'm still a bit skeptical. The Dart and Cherokee have proven more hype than substance. I do like the interior here, except for those horrid dials. The speedometer and tachometer reminds me of a starfish's mouth. Speaking of fish, the front end looks like a catfish.
Dart, yes. Cherokee has solid performance and is not having any trouble selling all of them. This car, definitely has the real substance to compete. Dart needs to go back to the drawing board. It happens to every company, a car not selling what they hoped for.
dobbins2550 the thing about the dart is that it's not markted right, but when dodge finally turns into a performance brand they say will be, it would be ok in sales. It already sales more than any version of a VW Getta. The dart is a very sporty-like compact and that is turning away alot of normal compact car buyers. But that's ok for Dodge. They have a planned B Segment car in the works which (like the dart) might fit between B and C segment
This has nothing to do with a sebring its completely reworked. And btw I had an 07 Sebring and although it had an extremely low rent interior and terrible driving dynamics I sold it off with 183k miles and it not once ever gave me a problem.
Chrysler 200 failed because: 1) midsize cars market share has been decreasing for several years. 2) most affordable midsize cars are reliable & have decent reputations. Fewer buyers in a very crowded market. This generation of Chrysler 200 should not have been produced. Mitsubishi Galant, a good solid auto, discontinued for same reasons.
No shit. When you buy a Mercedes Benz and it breaks.. Expect to pay a arm and a leg.. Chrysler on the other hand, it depends on what vehicle you r talking about. Dodge creates some of the best engines in the world. Don't take it from me. Look at the Ward's list.
Thanks for stating that Captain Obvious. BTW What does Chrysler have to do with Daimler? Daimler doesn't even own them no more. That's what I was trying to get to...
Idiot huh?! Apparently you don't know how to read. I corrected him in the first place. So you think Fiat does it all? Think again idiot.... Fiat as a car company CAN'T even hold its own in Europe. The predecessor of the 200 [Sebring] was a joke in this category... this is quite a massive improvement!
Not really, I kinda like the previous 200 model ( Sebring) little better than this one.
Hardly, it was a pretty competent car. The convertible with the 3.6 is hot.
It wasn’t good enough to last more than 3 model years 😂.
