Sectumsempra has a counter spell that reverses it's effects. The 3 unforgivable curses have no counter spell. (Lily enchanted Harry with a protection charm against the killing curse.)
I would agree, also isn't Expecto Patronum used only for Dementors, I don't remember reading of any other use for it besides delivering messages between the Order of the Phoenix members? So I would remove that one from the list and put something else instead, like Reducto, the most useful spell in the Lego Harry Potter games, also get rid of Imperio, I doubt anyone would have a chance to do that in the middle of a fight. But these are just my opinions.
@@EchthelionII The Patronus Charm is also effective against Obcuruses like Credence. Patronuses can also sense the presence of dark creatures. There for it is an early warning charm. FIENDFYRE is also a powerful incantation. But it requires the caster to have great control and be able to shut it off (unlike Greg Goyle...to his unfortunate demise).

Sectumsempra- A spell that is like an invisible sword. Have the opponent bleed out. One known charm that can heal it only known by Snape. Deserves a higher number
My theory about Sectum Sempra is that Snape invented it specifically to be a reversible attack spell, because he’s not actually a bad person. He wanted something that would seem very violent and aggressive without being lethal. It would serve him well as a death eater as well because it appears much more violent than it actually is and he could heal the victim pretty easily. That spell is a good representation of who Snape is. Appearing much darker and more evil than he actually is. But the spell is actually very clever and took great skill and knowledge to develop.
maybe snape is not as bad as the real death eaters but being in love with Lily does not redeem him of making life complete suck for Harry and pretty much all the students not included in slytherin house. plus he clearly is racist towards mudbloods even though he is inlove with Lily. He is a bully and an asshole, even tho he is not a complete psycho such as Bellatrix or Voldemort.

How is the summoning charm "powerful"? It's power is based solely off the wizard/witches ability. If they're powerful, it can be used super long range. Such as when Harry summoned his broom during the triwiz tourney. But it can be easily negated with a charm. Like when they couldn't summon the cup in bellatrix's vault at gringotts. Just sayin'.
Awesome video! It's not a named spell as far as I know, but man it was incredible when Dumbledore trapped Voldemort in the sphere of water & was rotating it at the end of Order. That whole battle was incredible. "It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom."
Protego is a defensive spell that blocks and/or repels any spell cast against you. (Harry used PROTEGO against Snape to reflect his LEGILLEMANS spell back, allowing Harry to view Snape's memories). Protego Maxima can also cast a protective shield (like the one erected around Hogwarts In Deathly Hallows Pt.2).🐺
Harry: "Expecto Patronum!" Voldemort laughs. Voldemort: "Avada Kadavra" Yeah I'm sure Expecto Patronum would stand a chance and is clearly the more powerful spell... Right........ My first issue with the order of your list is figuring out which spells need to be verbally spoken. Occasionally you see green curses fly by (potentially killing curses?) but Voldemort always spoke the words when casting it. Dunno if that is movie emphasis or if he literally could not use that particular spell without speaking. If so, something like Silencio would be a better defensive curse than Expecto Patronum, or any other defensive spell. Now, you literally said at the beginning of the video "This list only consists of spells used against an opposing WITCH OR WIZARD in the event of a STANDOFF." Then... somehow you just go out and get lost in left field apparently, instead of sticking with your original rules to powerful spells making the list. Say I were to truly rank spells based on power during a duel. I would start with the 3 unforgivable curses, Avada Kadavra, Crutiato, and Imperius making them top 3 and most powerful in that order. Then Sectumsempra, Expelliarmus, Petrificus Totalus, as they are not unforgivable, but basically guarantee you the win if any of them land. Last, and least, Stupefy. This curse is the only one on the list that doesn't mean instant win if it lands, it only gives you a short time advantage, which you SHOULD be using to use any other of the previous 6 curses. Now everything in this video and my comment is going off of spells learned in Hogwarts. When Voldemort and Dumbledore squared off in the Ministry of Magic, they were doing all kinds of crazy spells and sh*t that we never heard before or during because they don't speak while they cast, they just wave their wands and think it... I guess. Don't get me wrong, Expecto Patronum is an awesome and powerful spell. But don't add it to a list you clearly ignored your own rules for.......... and call yourself "big Harry Potter fans". HA. How about next time doing an OUNCE of research, learn as many spells in the Potterverse, and formulate a more accurate list of *The 7 most powerful spells USED IN A MAGICAL DUEL*
@@mikkelelmedal2042 Interesting theory. Most of the time spells are cast silently when you grow up and get experience, but we always hear the killing curse spoken. However it doesn't mean he couldn't cast other deadly spells silently. So this might only be partially effective.

OMG! Star Wars Theory, is that you?!!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea. Amazing!!! So happy. Edit: I am subbed to your patrion page and had NO idea u held this channel. Awesome job. Love your “voice”. Great job.
Honorable mentions for me are protego because it simply can block any spell that isn't a blasting curse or a hex. And I'd say reducto if not repelled or countered can be destructive. Obliviate is also just cruel if you use it permanently (depends on how powerful you are in your strengths of magic) to wipe someone's memories and cast them away as a forgotten soul.
Expecto Patronum: Creates a seeming of a pseudo-sentient object Has a persistent effect Has no known range limitation Is a solid defense against ALL dementors within 500 yards, whether that's 1 or 200 Has at least 3 Seperate effects: Simultaneously shields the mind, can be used for communication, and also repels dementors. It's a solid choice.
@@EchthelionII there are things worst than physical damage or even death. Being able to defeat your greatest fears when you are facing them should be a requirement to be an auror.
protego diabolica , fidelus charm , confringo, crucio , fiendfyre , firestorm , sectumsempra and avada kedavara should have been the list ( not in order )
I would have put fiendfyre on the list. Also, just my opinion, I feel like the Cruciatus Curse is the worst of the unforgivables. Avada Kedavra is quick, but Crucio can leave people like Neville's parents.
Expelliarmus, although my favorite spell, is one of the most incoherent in the movies In the books it’s always described as a disarming charm, but in the movies, well in HP2 Snape knocked Lockhart down with a white flash, HP3 Harry knocked Snape down with no flash, in HP4 Harry produces a red electric string as does Voldemort with his green electric Avada Kedavra string And after that in HP5 to 8 it’s finally a disarming charm
Next Video idea- 1. Top 10 most talented Quidditch players in Hogwarts. 2. Ranking Hogwarts' subjects 3. Most intelligent Death Eaters. 4. Origins of the Black and the Gaunt family. It would be good if you make these videos. And I agree with your list. Good Rankings.
Justin Time and how do you know this?? It doesn’t say Arvada Kadavra won’t kill them. But that’s not a good argument. Arvada Kadavra won’t unlock any doors like alohomora, but we both know which is the most powerful spell. Head to head Arvada Kadavra beats the Patronus every time.
@@andrewarbour5733 Avada Kedavra won't have any effect on Dementors and Lethifolds. It is stated in the books. Maybe because these creatures aren't actually living beings. That means if you don't know how to perform a patronus you are bound to die in an encounter with those creatures.
And if you don’t know alohomora you die in a room because you cannot get out. Does not mean alohomora is more powerful. If you use the patronus and I use Arvada Kadavra what happens?? You die and I walk away unscathed.
Actually, the sacrificial protection seems to be the most powerful spell... After all, it protects not only against the Killing curse which has no other counterspell, but basically against everything. And as was seen when Harry meant to die, it can be applied to so many people at once, and cannot be really bypassed, unless one meddles with dark rituals including blood of those protected, which just protects them even more...
The spell that brought chills to my body when you gave the Latin meaning for a whole different reason than what one might think; "Sectus: cut (off) Semper: Always" 😲😧🥺 Oh Snape! Even then! "Always"! 😭
"This list will be comprised solely of the top 7 spells one might use against an opposing witch or wizard in the event of a standoff" Expecto Patronum is not a spell you use against a witch or a wizard in a standoff, in my opinion Protego Diabolica should be number 1 in this list because it protects you and can be used for offense if needed.
In-video description: "Spells to use against wizards/witches in a duel" No1: Expecto Patronum Wtf yeah sure... Because, as we all know, Expecto Patronum is more powerful than Stupefy, Expelliarmus, Sectumsempra, Imperio, Crucio and Avada Kedavra in a fckin duel against another wizard... Next time make a "Top 10 Potions" video, and for No1 put 'Draco Malfoy'... Doesn't make sense, right? EXACTLY! This is not a list of spells to use in a duel. This is just a list of random spells... Unforgivable curses excluded ofcourse Some actually powerful spells Horcrux curse, bombarda, apparition, fiendfyre curse, reductor curse, obliviate, accio, protego maximus, protego diabolica, Fidelius, the spell ( though unnamed ) used to create inferni, the unbreakable vow curse. Edit Your top 7, 7 being the strongest of magical numbers was neat. Ill give you that. :)
@Jacob Molyneux Even they are questionable. Avada Kadavra and crucio are both line of sight only, medium range, and imperio is never seen to effect anyone from more than a foot away. Those are some glaring limitations in a duel for your life. I'd much rather add confingo and expulso (maybe even bombarda maxima @ celing or wall) to my repitiore and fight at a distance.
6:11 Bellatrix never used the killing curse on Sirius Black. He was killed by falling/passing through the veil/archway. Of course the spell which made him do that was cast by Bellatrix
I think Sectum -Sempra should be ranked higher than the cruciatus curse because cruciatus curse can only make the enemy suffer from excruciating pain but can't kill him/her, But Sectumsempra is comparatively powerful because it is easy to use and can nearly kill the enemy if not healed. So in my opinion sectum-sempra must be ranked above cruciatus curse and expelliarmus. BTW, It's a great vedio and I loved it ❤.
Cool vid, and I really enjoy the content in general. I'd just like to mention that in the real canon (being the books), Bellatrix didn't hit Sirius with Avada Kedavra. She made him cross the veil to the other side, by using a "red bolt" looking spell.
Stupefy was used too round up dragons, it just took like 10+ wizards and even than it was hard to stupefy the dragons. Also there was a point where 3 or 4 wizards hit Mcgonagall and she was taken to St Mungo's for treatment.
"Cannot be blocked." -eaten by a bird -blocked by a statue -blocked by harry's red spark -stopped by horcrux I could go on -stopped by table, setting it to flames

“Obliviate”
Harry: "Expecto Patronum!"
Voldemort laughs.
Voldemort: "Avada Kadavra"
Yeah I'm sure Expecto Patronum would stand a chance and is clearly the more powerful spell...
Fiendfire should also be on the list.
U have 200 iq, just use silencio and he can`t cast the killing course
How r ur hands mate??
@@mikkelelmedal2042 Interesting theory. Most of the time spells are cast silently when you grow up and get experience, but we always hear the killing curse spoken.
However it doesn't mean he couldn't cast other deadly spells silently. So this might only be partially effective.
@@zarinagacha657 I assume you mean me? Well I am a code writer and a frequent commentator on many YT videos. My comments might be able to fill a Harry Potter book from front to back. So this? This is nothing.
What about Voldemort: EEEYYYAAHHHHH!!!
‘One shots a barrier’
Expecto patronum was also used for giving messages they explain when tonks sent her patronum to hagrid (But snape got it)
In which movie tonks sent her patronus to hagrid??
@@WajihRathore idk of ot was in the movies but it was in the 6th book when harry got left on the hogwarts Express with his mose broken under his invisibility cloak and paralyzed cuz of malfoy

I love this channel!
The way you explain your theories, with proper movie clips and animations, I just love the making of the video!
Keep growing! Best of luck =)

That'd be a short discussion, there isn't anything known about him. That's the point, even he can't remember his own name.
What about the spell Grindelwald uses? The blue flame at the end of fantastic beasts 2
Fiend fire - it can kill horcruxes and should def be on the list
@@alphamore3554 Wasn't fiendfyre. His followers wouldn't have been able to go through if it was but yes, fiendfyre it should have been number 1 (in my opinion)
@@alphamore3554 it was called protego diabolica according to the movie script
It is fiendfire but elder/really powerful/grindlewald
@@thor576_3 its not fiendfyre
What about Dumbledore fire storm 🔥isn't that not op enough but good vid I agree with most of them on the list but their is so many other spells
Yeah it's better than many spells on this list but there's another fire charm that's even stronger. It's called fiendfyre.
@Jacob Molyneux For clarification, the spell Dumbledore used to create a ring of fire in half blood prince is it's own spell, not fiendfyre.
@Jacob Molyneux I'm just going off of this list: harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_spells#F Here it has them listed as different spells, the fiendfyre curse and the firestorm charm.
@Aleksandre Protego diabolica is different and has blue fire
Fiendfyre
Please do a video on how wands are made
You are pretty scary sometimes, brilliant but
*scary*
lol Expecto Patronum is the strongest? Yall are silly
I quite agree.
Expecto Patronum:
Creates a seeming of a pseudo-sentient object
Has a persistent effect
Has no known range limitation
Is a solid defense against ALL dementors within 500 yards, whether that's 1 or 200
Has at least 3 Seperate effects: Simultaneously shields the mind, can be used for communication, and also repels dementors.
It's a solid choice.
@@TheBrothergreen Against Dementors yes, but against a human or other opponent not at all.
It can also be used to send messages... Add that to all that Thebrothergreen mentioned; it is powerfulll
@@EchthelionII there are things worst than physical damage or even death. Being able to defeat your greatest fears when you are facing them should be a requirement to be an auror.
some missing spells: bombarda maxima, fyendfire, arresto momento, firestorm
francargeric1 i agree exept for arresto momentum
And reducto
protego diabolica , fidelus charm , confringo, crucio , fiendfyre , firestorm , sectumsempra and avada kedavara should have been the list ( not in order )
harshraj sharma Sectrum Sempra was on the list. It was the 6th
Two of those are just in the movies
I loved the intro!!
Eat slugs is obviously the most powerful
"Septumsempra". That spell is nastily horrifying.😱
I would have put fiendfyre on the list.
Also, just my opinion, I feel like the Cruciatus Curse is the worst of the unforgivables. Avada Kedavra is quick, but Crucio can leave people like Neville's parents.
sirius even said it himself "quicker than falling asleep" but crucio can cause loads of damage if did right and enough
How did I just find this channel Theory? Love your stuff on SWT
I think "protego" is also very important as it's one of the only spells to actually block other spells.
protego diabolica?
Expelliarmus, although my favorite spell, is one of the most incoherent in the movies
In the books it’s always described as a disarming charm, but in the movies, well in HP2 Snape knocked Lockhart down with a white flash, HP3 Harry knocked Snape down with no flash, in HP4 Harry produces a red electric string as does Voldemort with his green electric Avada Kedavra string
And after that in HP5 to 8 it’s finally a disarming charm
Wtf has expektopatronum lost on this list... It's not usable ageinst humans...
Well you can kill humans, but dementors can't be killed, so I guess it would be more useful or something?
You can’t spell Ryan Graf
My favorite spell by far is the one used by Grindlewald at the end of FB2, Protego Diabolica
Next Video idea- 1. Top 10 most talented Quidditch players in Hogwarts.
2. Ranking Hogwarts' subjects
3. Most intelligent Death Eaters.
4. Origins of the Black and the Gaunt family.
It would be good if you make these videos. And I agree with your list. Good Rankings.
Is this the star wars guy I love the passion you have for two of the greatest media franchises in the entire world
Good video but if you use and patronus charm against Arvada Kadavra you will die. So number one and two need to be switched.
Well if you use Avada Kedavra against a Dementor or a Lethifold you'll die as well. :D
@@andrewarbour5733 It is pointless to argue about it. One is a protection spell, the other the most aggressive curse in existence.

Yeah
The spell that brought chills to my body when you gave the Latin meaning for a whole different reason than what one might think;
"Sectus: cut (off)
Semper: Always" 😲😧🥺
Oh Snape! Even then! "Always"! 😭
Surely the ‘I can touch you now’ spell is on there 😂
"This list will be comprised solely of the top 7 spells one might use against an opposing witch or wizard in the event of a standoff" Expecto Patronum is not a spell you use against a witch or a wizard in a standoff, in my opinion Protego Diabolica should be number 1 in this list because it protects you and can be used for offense if needed.
Peter Pettigrew: avadakedevra
Belitrix lastrange: avavdakadevra
Voldemort: AVVVVVVVVAAAADDDDDDA KEEEDEVVVRRARRRRRRRRRAAA

Having been a fan of Star Wars Theory for years.....why am I just now finding out about this channel. Or the fact he has many channels
In-video description: "Spells to use against wizards/witches in a duel"
No1: Expecto Patronum
Wtf yeah sure...
Disliked
Yeah, this video was a total letdown.
Chill out little one 🤣
I kinda expected fiendfyre to be on the list
Expecto patronum means i await a guardian in latin
I think it is this guy is awesome I love all of his videos and channels
You forgot Voldemort’s *insert duck sounds* like, EVERY TIME he’s fighting you’ll hear, “NYAAAAAH” or “AAAAAAWHAHH”
Most powerful spells" most spells known by 70% of 3rd years. Unforgivable curses excluded ofcourse
Some actually powerful spells
Horcrux curse, bombarda, apparition, fiendfyre curse, reductor curse, obliviate, accio, protego maximus, protego diabolica, Fidelius, the spell ( though unnamed ) used to create inferni, the unbreakable vow curse.
Edit Your top 7, 7 being the strongest of magical numbers was neat. Ill give you that. :)
@Jacob Molyneux indeed, and for the sake of being original he could have skipped them
@Jacob Molyneux Even they are questionable.
Eat slugs?
I edited this so you wouldn’t know how I got so many likes.
You have like 2 likes.
You're supposed to do that after you get a lot of likes.

6:11 Bellatrix never used the killing curse on Sirius Black.
He was killed by falling/passing through the veil/archway.
Of course the spell which made him do that was cast by Bellatrix
Bruh she clearly says Avada kedavra
@@kamadotanjiro1241 not in the books she doesn't and the books are canon
@@harshitkhajuria9545 ஓ ஓகே
This is REALLY good (:
I think Sectum -Sempra should be ranked higher than the cruciatus curse because cruciatus curse can only make the enemy suffer from excruciating pain but can't kill him/her, But Sectumsempra is comparatively powerful because it is easy to use and can nearly kill the enemy if not healed. So in my opinion sectum-sempra must be ranked above cruciatus curse and expelliarmus.
BTW, It's a great vedio and I loved it ❤.
Expecto patronum is not a fight spell if you do that to a wizard you can't harm the person u use.
Cool vid, and I really enjoy the content in general. I'd just like to mention that in the real canon (being the books), Bellatrix didn't hit Sirius with Avada Kedavra. She made him cross the veil to the other side, by using a "red bolt" looking spell.
Voldmort=Avada Kedvra
Harry = Expeliarmus
Aveda Kedvra= Am I a joke to you?
Seamus' turn this water into rum was actually powerful enough
Stupefy was used too round up dragons, it just took like 10+ wizards and even than it was hard to stupefy the dragons. Also there was a point where 3 or 4 wizards hit Mcgonagall and she was taken to St Mungo's for treatment.
Muggles: Abrakadabra
