I would watch the entire game cinematic scenes with all the actors in just their mocap suits. Raw footage, raw emotions. I'd watch hours of it all just to see the depth of emotion in their faces. They're all so incredibly talented, but especially Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson. So amazing.

I love tlou and tlou 2 I play the games and watch things and I'd u never seen anyone will there is lots just watch playthrough of all the ones who watch Joel get beatened to deaths almost the whole Internet/ UA-cam broke trending and everything and some cried so yelled some wanted Abby dead some say that Joel deserves it others turned the game off some never brought it bc of that scene and sex scene also and I watched many take the game out and destroy it on camera bc they had so much rage bc of it

Naughty Dog went through hell making Part 2 and it all paid off in the end.
Yeah, yet unfortunately most of its audience hate that game, which is very unfortunate, because it most certainly is my favorite story game of all time (Part 1 is in my number 2, it felt a bit more simple than Part 2, but it was still a perfect story)
I feel like you and the leaker (may they step on a broken lego every day for the rest of their lives) represent polar opposite ends of the spectrum of fandom in general. The difference between loving a story unconditionally versus conditionally, supporting the artists versus expecting the artists to deliver what you want, when you want it. The desire to contribute to a story that resonates with you, versus forcing the hand of the creators because you think you know better. The strong desire to give versus the selfish need to receive.
I remember when the leaks took the internet by storm. I avoided them at all cost. Im thankful I played the game with fresh eyes. It was a great and emotional experience all together!
From 1:34:40 onward, seeing how absolutely, unabashedly emotional and passionate you became when Neil talked about having “one more chapter in the story” gave me tears! Listening to him say that was something that got me feeling the same way, this story means so much to me and has changed my life too. I cannot believe that we’re getting one more, and I hope that somehow you’ll get to work on Part III too. Rooting for you so hard!
I am also a Last of Us enthusiast. I just love absorbing all content pertaining to the series. Glad I found a channel that relates to my absolute obsession with this series!

As a huge TLOU fan who absolutely loves both games Part 1 and 2 they are such masterpieces in everyway. This was such a wonderful eye opening documentary I just love getting to know the first hand experiences of what it was like making this gem of a game. I think watching this video might’ve unexpectedly imparted an important life lesson on me… I literally just discovered both this documentary AND your channel yesterday, but I’ve been binging all of your TLOU videos! I love the passion, sophistication and empathy that you have when talking about this story you care about so much, and I weirdly find it inspiring. I am confident with embracing the movies/shows/books/bands/stories I love on my own, but I, for so long, have been more hesitant/reserved when it comes to talking too much about media I care about with others because I worry about overwhelming people. But, at 1:27:23, hearing you describe how you screamed with excitement when Laura Bailey won the best performance award (even though your roommates didn’t have any idea what you were talking about) put something into perspective for me. I need to really allow myself to embrace my passions wholeheartedly and not try to keep them bottled up to myself, because that’s a big part of who I am and keeping that tucked away keeps a part of me from truly connecting 100%. So, even though I just found your channel yesterday, I am so happy I did. Like I did with the themes of TLOU2, I think I’m going to carry that lesson with me from now on. Thank you

I love the irony in the hate for game over leaks and people who didn’t give it a fair chance being yet another mirror to the ideas in Part II. Like obviously people got way out of line with death threats and prejudiced comments, but all the the hate and anger stems from the love they have for the first game and those characters, and feeling like they had been disgraced and stolen from them.

I still think about the game every so often, I haven’t played it in a while but it’s one of those titles similar to the first where I wish I could play it again for the first time, that’s the hallmark of a great project, it sticks with you.
I successfully avoided all the leaks, but I knew it was hugely controversial. And I read some reviews that said something along the lines of "we'll talk about the first half of the game, but the whole second half is embargoed."
And then the zebra flashback started, and in that moment I was like "oh, I'm about to play that whole game over again as Abby, aren't I. This is now the embargoed second half. Oh man I can see why people were so pissed off!" But I was excited to see where they were going with it, and wasn't disappointed!
I remember buying the game the day it came out and devouring it over like 3 play sessions. I spent so much time with the characters that I love them like they were real. It sucks not every game can be this meticulously polished.
the remaster was the first time i played the game myself (i originally watched my brother play it) and i can never understand the unbelievable amount of hate this game got when it first came out. i found it so beautifully written and watching the bts/ listening to the game commentary made it much more beautiful to me

This is so hard to see Laura Bailey cry over the death threats. I am so angry over this, like this obvious level of violence exposed from entitled people, violent people apparently, that could not do anything better with the scenario. But also Abby and Laura Bailey are THE STARS of this game for me, the more I replay it, the more I absorb the narrative and understand the characters, she is a stand out. And I cannot understand how people are willfully neglecting or dissing her.

Open world does = more freedom and discretion (and the earlier mini-sandbox area does metaphorically fit the theme of exploring and discovering an entirely new city), but a more linear world structure is a better representation of a journey, quest, or gauntlet, something to be endured (and survived).

Not sure if you have watched Critical Role but Ashley (Ellie) and Laura (Abby) are great friends and play in a streamed D&D campaign with other voice actors.
I cried a couple of times watching this documentary. I have grown so attached to Joel and Ellie that whenever the people here were talking about Joel dying or showing him or Troy on screen etc, tears would just come. I hope part III will give us Ellie one final time to see that she's okay, even if the main character was somebody else in that game. I need her to be okay one day. 💔

So...i bought Last of Us 2, and i love it. Did I dislike Joel dying? Yes. Did i not like Abby at first? Yes. Did i come around as her story in the game went? Yes. I mean....people lose their shit over fictional characters, keyboard warriors, and then taking out on the actors, who all seem like nice people and just doing their Jobs, and Druckmann, who is just trying to tell a story...i mean, come on! And death threats to Laura Bailey while pregnant? Come on, grow the fuck up people....i mean, for me, personally, i bought the game during the pandemic, and my wife was pregnant at the time, and i enjoyed the hell out of playing the game as a great way to de stress.

I don't want this to sound weird or like I'm doing it for like inspirational purposes or to get some kind of reaction but on my previous UA-cam account I watched a video that Troy made and I commented about the fact that the last of us part two specifically was the first video game that I was able to complete on my own because of accessibility features. I remember vividly sitting in my living room in my pyjamas holding my controller as the credits were rolling and Troy and Ashley were singing and I was bawling my eyes out I've been a gamer for many years but because of the lack of accessibility open until recent times there would be many levels and situations in previous games including the last of us part one before it got its remake where I would have to have someone help me past specific levels. Because of my condition my hands don't react the same as some boded peoples hands do. That's why accessibility is so important I had been a gamer for like 20 years give or take being like a little kid until that point and I could never finish a game on my own ever. Anyway the point of this is I acknowledge that in the comments of Troy's UA-cam video the comments are no longer there because I'm deleted my previous UA-cam account but he responded to this day I still have the screenshots saved on my Instagram and my TikTok he acknowledged how important it was and thanked me for sharing my side of things and how important those kind of things are within the gaming industry along with probably 25 to 50 other hugely supportive and positive comments and even some people said they hadn't even thought about the impact of accessibility being so important that was really cool. The last of us part two prove to me that I am not a bad gamer because of my disability I just have to game differently and I'm actually a really good gamer under the right set of circumstances. On top of that and changing the subject slightly part one was hugely important to me when I first played it because back then I had to heavily research games that I was gonna invest in to make sure that it would be financially worth it for me to play given my challenges. I played part one on the DLC in 2014 for the first time and it legitimately saved my life I don't care if that sounds Wanky or woke but it did because it changed the way I think about life and certain situations. So yeah does it sound cheesy if I say the last of us is part of the reason why I'm still here yes absolutely. But that's the truth that game changed my perspective on my entire life now if that isn't art or important or impactful whatever you wanna call it I don't know what is. As I'm writing this I'm using accessibility features because I can't type so I'm using a microphone and using text to speech or whatever the reverse of that is how cool is that so next time you hear someone say that accessibility just makes the game easier please remember this comment even just for a split second also just a general shout out to the awesome people in this fan base that genuinely love and get excited about even just having a conversation about the impact of the last of us it's really cool sometimes I think about the fan base and it kind of scares me a lot but then you get little cool subcommunities that are decent and willing to actually talk and have fun rather than just spit venom at each other when we disagree
based on recent news that they completely dropped the multiplayer title for the last of us, it kind of gave us and answer to why with this ending to the documentary. I hope they are now getting ready to make that "concept" into a story. Maybe not, but if it is then i can say from all of us that we will be anxiously (very excited) waiting for the next chapter of the Last Of Us.
Bless you, just got to the end and I feel everything you said. The Last of us is truly something beyond special, Part I really impacted me, but Part II changed my perspective in life. It helped me see my past through a different lens. I had an abusive upbringing and it was really effecting me, and something clicked and I thought I need to let it go. If I continue on this self destructive path I’ll destroy myself, people, friends, family and even therapist had told me that, but I needed to figure it out for myself and playing Part II did that for me. The past still affects me, but I’ve shifted my path and I see a better brighter future all thanks to these games! TLOU Family for Life!!! 🤍
What I appreciate about both games in regards to feminism is that they show women have to struggle and fight just as hard as the men.
I think what people are sick of is seeing women represented as perfect characters with ZERO flaws while the men are seen as anything but flawless.
Ellie and Abby have their strengths, but they both show weakness and vulnerability. Not to mention they both get hurt so many times.
Creatives, especially in Disney, love to make sure their female characters start off as perfect and go through little to no growth and everyone else around them is the problem. Take Rey, Helena Shaw, or Admiral Holdo for example
Unpopular opinion maybe but personally I hope TLOU 3 is about Abby and Lev and the new Fireflies fighting FEDRA.

The Last of Us Part 2 had a perfect story
I don't know if you've ever played a Metroid game, but I remember the original game would never give much of a hint to the protagonist actually being a woman. Typically referred to as Samus, solely to get men to actually play the game. Samus isn't revealed to be a woman until the end of the game.
My point of this, just like TLOU, Metroid is a great game that happens to star a woman s the lead. It could have been anyone, and it's not tailored to try and make it "feminine" it's simply a great game that anyone can pick up. Which is an awesome thing.
How I view that end clip of the interview, the documentary specifically mentions they are deliberate in the material they release.
The talk about Part 3 wouldn't just randomly be included if it was a game they release 5-6 years from now. Feel like they have to be coy, cause if they just said it, the hype levels lower

I hate to be knit picking a part of the video, but there’s a part where Troy is talking about fans not liking Joel’s death and how it was handled. And his response to them is “ well tell me a better version “.There’s a channel called The closer look that made a video about the last of us two titled “ how to divide a fanbase”. A very long and meaty video but he gives a version of the story that I honestly think was better. Some things not all, but how he rewrote Joel’s death ( in my opinion) was leaps better than what we actually got. Idk just some food for thought. It’s not a perfect story and can be improved
