Was fun watching a true fan reaction! They've really done a great job on this adaption by the looks of it. BTW in the closing scene you can see a clicker on a rooftop on the left going crazy in the storm!
Idk if you noticed the difference between Sarah watching Joel kill someone and Ellie. The creator said ellie liked the fact that someone would protect her by all means
I am not sure if I did, but that totally makes sense. Sarah's had her dad looking out for her her whole life, and it was probably scary for her to see him act so violently. Ellie on the other hand has never had that kind of blind devotion in her life. we're already seeing the seeds for a close but potentially unhealthy connection between Joel and Ellie - which is as it should be. it's so good!
26:25 Actually, the idea of gallows is that the people being hung fall quick enough that the rope breaks their neck, killing them pretty much instantly. Anything else would be considered a botched hanging
I'm not sure if you guys heard about the speculation that the outbreak starts because of contaminated flour. Throughout the episode it is referenced. Sarah doesn't get to make pancakes because they are out of pancake mix(flour), the Addler's offer Joel biscuits but he refuses by making up he is on the Atkins diet, Mrs. Addler and Sarah make cookies but Sarah doesn't eat any because they are raisins and not chocolate chip and Joel was supposed to bring a cake home for him and Sarah but he forgets. The fungal Outbreak starts because of contaminated flour.
There is one big problem with that theory : Fungi can´t survive high temperatures as mention in the beginning.Even if the fungi adapted to that, i hardly can believe it can survive in baked goods like cakes , cookies or even bread where temperatures easily reach 150°C (300F). You literally have to eat the flour raw to get infected....
so far i think they did perfectly. they managed to get the exact same emotions out of me as the game; i watched it right when it released at 2am (timezones - i live in the UK) and it was a CHALLENGE trying to sob as quietly as possible so i didn't wake up my stepdad in the next room (i also forced him to watch it w me in the afternoon. he's never played the games but he absolutely loved it). as a massive joel enjoyer i have a lot of positive thoughts about how they developed his character here and how perfectly cast i think he is - i have written many an essay on tumblr already - but the bit that brought me the most unreasonable amount of joy was the confirmation that he is, in fact, the little spoon of the relationship. (not that there was ever really any doubt, given Tess Being Tess, but still.) i'm also admittedly very glad they're talking more abt how Horrifically Traumatised joel would be. they briefly talked abt it in the games, but the way they're handling it - and just... joel in general tbh - feels way more grounded here speaking of tess: this casting could not be more perfect, and i am absolutely in love w her.
Sarah was played by Thandie Newton's daughter, she was so good. And so far the changes (like expanding showing Sarah at the start to connect better with her) seem very smart to address the differences that come with not playing -as- the character where you can expeft more immediate empathy since it's "you".
Curious thing about Thandie is that it always confused me a lot whenever I saw her name cos in my native language it is supposed to be Thandiwe(meaning LOVED) and abbreviated is either Thandi or Thando(From Luthando meaning Love). Our vernacular names carry huge meaning with them and tells a story about the parents' state of mind at the time of birth. *NB: This is me just sharing a nice cultural trivia, no malice 😊
Also, Sarah has no flour for her pancakes, Nana is first seen eating biscuits that Joel then refuses because he's on a diet, Sarah doesn't take a cookie because she doesn't like raisins and Joel forgot to buy a birthday cake after work. So, Contaminated flour started the outbreak?
wowww that totally makes sense! I believe in the game it came from contaminated crops from south America. maybe there was cordyceps in the wheat or something
I LOVED watching you guys!!! Your energy is amazing! There is a clicker at the very end by the fallen building. You can hear it and see it! How exciting! I can’t wait for the next episode and will be tuning in to you’re watch! ❤🖤🖤🖤😊❤️❤️

Neil Druckmann has said they're doing transfer of infection through the "tendrils" because if they stuck with airborne spores like in the game they'd basically have to always wear masks with full gear all the time. I guess maybe they thought people wouldn't be able to suspend their disbelief for the show so they opted for no masks.
totally. It makes tons of sense. I love the idea that the fungus is trying to latch on to people's cerebral chords so as to control the brain faster. super creepy
Depeche Mode at the end tore me up. The whole theme of that song is putting your trust into somebody when you know it’s likely going to hurt you but you still have hope that it won’t. Looking back knowing Bill and Frank’s death triggered the song is heartbreaking. B&F forever. 💔💔💔

"How about we start with thank you..." The very same vibe as David ( Cannibals) from the winter portion of the game ..." You are makin it very hard to keep you alive....."
As someone who is originally from KC and very excited about this change XD just a reminder that I believe the Pittsburgh storyline is being moved to Kansas City! Probably to show a bit more the journey across the country rather than skipping the entire middle of it lol I love your tiktoks and your reactions! Can't even wait to see more of this show!!
Is it? Either way I’m excited for the hunters and the cannibals. I especially want to see the ambush scene and how Joel and Ellie become nightmares to those ‘people’.
I seen a lot of complaints and reservations from people with some of the casting (for really f'ing dumb reasons) but everyone nailed the characters perfectly.. It's a shame we only got Sarah (Nico) for one episode, but for me, she stole the show! When I first played the game and finished balling after Sarah's death (I'm a fan of all characters, and would have done the same in the situation) my brains first thought was "is that karma for not picking up the family at the side of the road with the kid?" I know, morbid, but my brain went there! I love how they're staying so true to the game, while expanding on some stuff, and deviating without taking huge liberties... at least from what we've seen so far!
The start of the game fucked me up pretty bad and even if I knew what would happen so did the start of this episode. I am amazed over how well this is made and your reaction was a really good upload. 💙💙
So apparently UA-cam algorithm can do something besides radicalising teens... and I am forever gratefull it has brought me to your channel! You are my favourite people now!
Yay! Best last of us fans ever! Can’t wait to complete this series of reactions ❤. Also subscribed for more stuff because I see we are into a lot of the same things. Thank you for your work!
Wrt people being hanged rather than shot: Execution by hanging, when done properly, isn't all that torturous, actually, as it breaks the neck and you die pretty much instantly. Those horrific strangulation scenarios only happen when the knot isn't tied properly, the height of the fall is insufficient and other such factors. It all comes down to physics, basically. Plus, after a hanging, the rope can be re-used, unlike the bullet used in execution by firearm. Resource management and all that. And no, I'm not usually this sociopathic.
If done right a hanging will break the neck. Given the circumstances I made an assumption that any sort of hanging isnt going to be done with care and attention and will probably be botched most of the time. This is what i was referring to when I said it's basically torture.
I am LEGITIMATELY scared about the Last of Us's treatment of the infected - it is not the dead reanimated but the LIVING degenerating into the monsters we behold - then the idea that OphioCordiceps are real and control hosts just like in the show! Absolutely terrifying!
Its good to hear fellow gamers literally squeal with happiness for some of these scenes I totally get it. About to binge watch the rest of these episodes on here lol
As someone who didnt play game, I had no idea what was being talked about in the hallway scene with marleen and joel. It was so fast and alot was being said…thats probably why i didnt understand that they were only trying to get ellie to the the place where tess ultimately meets her end. I thought she was being taken to the university the whole time.
I wish Tess had gotten her scene with Robert. The one where she has him at her mercy. I also find it interesting that this Joel already has a motivation and goal. Him being worried about Tommy and making plans to go and find him. Joel in the game was on complete autopilot at this point in the story. He didn't give a shit about anything and was just kind of existing.
We did get a version of that scene! The first scene between Tess and Robert, you can tell he is terrified of her, and for good reason haha. I think upping the stakes for Joel and Tess to take the job was really smart. I'm VERY interested to see how the dynamic between Tommy and Joel is going to play out now given this change.
Thank you. Honored by that... Listen... You may not have those million of followers... But I watched your whole episode and it's just as great as anyone else... Keep going ..youll both be amazing..
I think Bill is it gonna be either episode two or three. Although I think most of episode two will deal with the death of Tess which I’m not looking forward to cause her casting is just fucking amazing the whole thing is just flawless but the Tommy thing I think that’s related to going to bill because Bill had a car battery in the game but I wonder if we will see them fall out That would be interesting overall I’m really happy with the episode and I’m really happy that it’s getting an overwhelmingly positive response from most people this is a great video thanks for sharing with us
I wish they'd kept the spores. But when you think about it, the spores, and the way clickers operate, doesn't make much sense and isn't that believable (in other species, it controls them to go to a high place, then die to release the spores, which would basically make the whole premise useless). At least this way, it makes more sense with how they act. But again, still a bit bummed out about the change
Came to mention them removing the spore part by design. The producer mentioned it in their first podcast episode, I believe (could be wrong). The audience reacts to bites, not necessarily nearly invisible spores, which makes sense. So glad I found these reactions from people who know and geek out over the game. I haven't played, so it's interesting to note the difference and how much they nailed in the adaptation too. Plus the reactors' enthusiasm is infectious (pun intended). 😉
I have one beef with Marlene, Didn’t the fireflies try to buy a car battery so they could leave with Ellie, But they were also able to give weapons, ammo and an entire military car to Joel and Tess if they would transport Ellie.
@@sinnattugaq Marlene said they wanted a whole squad to cross thru the contaminated parts of Boston. so the QZ Fireflies were probably trying to get a working vehicle to make the journey faster and safer. I don't know why the state building fireflies couldn't meet them but I'm gonna assume it's to do with the treacherous territory between them.
@@tlou_explained yeah i watched the episode again, But it still seemed off, But i did catch the Soldier talking about the factory in Atlanta that only makes Bullets and Pills, its funny Because its the primary loot you would find in the game
Serious question for you. How did you get around showing so much footage from the shows when almost every other reaction I've seen is like 15 minutes at most? Luck? 😊
You say Dark Ages, but It hasn't really been all that long historically speaking since the last public execution by hanging in the US. It took place in Kentucky in 1936.
Apologies for the morbid nature of the comment, but in reference to death by hanging, the idea is breaking the neck, not asphixiation. When it goes wrong that's when the breaking doesn't happen. That's why the method involves dropping people from a certain height, if suffering is the point they would just be lifted a little bit (some executions were like that, for instance those performed by the Gestapo of traitors and spies, with piano strings, particularly terrible). I'm 100% against the Death Penalty, but I don't think most people in favor of it would agree with inducing suffering. Even some visually ghastly methods like the famous Guillotine, invented by Guillot, were in principle introduced to make the death quicker and the procedure more effective. The previous methods (involving for example an axe) sometimes didn't work with one blow (yeah, yikes, I know) and hanging sometimes failed to break the neck, hence the "newfangled" device.
The guy who was talking with Joel about the 💩 job, looked a lot like Bill from the game! I bet it was him! A lot of actors from the game are in the show
It makes sense why spores dont really exist in the series, i mean even if you wear a mask, there could still be spores on your hair shirt bag wtv. Humans probably wouldn't even last 20 years.
23:30 I cried at this point like a toddler, even though I saw the scene in the game x times and knew what was happening. I was very skeptical about Pedro and Bella as Joel and Ellie. But they do it incredibly well. It feels straight out of the game. Also the others ... Nico as Sarah, Gabriel as Tommy, Anna as Tess. All done great. Merle as Marlene anyway cause it's the same actress as in the game. My conclusion after this episode: I've never been so captivated by the start of a series based on a story I know inside and out.
I wish I'd found your channel sooner. I obsessed over the games and the tv series. My biggest joys on youtube on reaction videos.

Enjoying your TLoU reactions-and bonus pts for the IRL "emotional support kitteh moments" :)
“Why are planes?”
Perfect adaptation
Fun fact, the one of the creators is involved with this series, and I belive even directed the pilot, feel free to correct if I'm wrong.
I have one beef with Marlene, Didn’t the fireflies try to buy a car battery so they could leave with Ellie, But they were also able to give weapons, ammo and an entire military car to Joel and Tess if they would transport Ellie.
all those resources are supposedly waiting for them with be rest of the fireflies at the state building. they don't have them in the Boston QZ
@@tlou_explained but why would they then need a car battery. Couldn’t the crew at the state building get to them or just near them
@@sinnattugaq Marlene said they wanted a whole squad to cross thru the contaminated parts of Boston. so the QZ Fireflies were probably trying to get a working vehicle to make the journey faster and safer.
Amé sus reacciones!!! Saludos 🇲🇽
Just realized something. This is another recent horror entry that has elderly folks as “evil.” X did it and of course “The Visit.” 😂 poor nana!
its either old ppl or kids in horror scenarios hahaha
Serious question for you. How did you get around showing so much footage from the shows when almost every other reaction I've seen is like 15 minutes at most? Luck? 😊
Next season if y’all can play the whole episode don’t cut stuff out but if you can’t cause you’ll get in trouble that’s ok
Good to see gamers reaction its pretty dope how they went sbout part 1 season to will break everyone
You say Dark Ages, but It hasn't really been all that long historically speaking since the last public execution by hanging in the US. It took place in Kentucky in 1936.
😨
For the algorithm
The guy who was talking with Joel about the 💩 job, looked a lot like Bill from the game! I bet it was him! A lot of actors from the game are in the show
I wondered that too! but I don't think it's actually him. would be cool tho
It makes sense why spores dont really exist in the series, i mean even if you wear a mask, there could still be spores on your hair shirt bag wtv. Humans probably wouldn't even last 20 years.

‘Im gay and he’s so hot’ thats the best thing i heard today
Breaking news: Pedro can turn on every single human
10/10
It’s real girlssss!!!!! You got to see NatGeo ❤
мне кажется .девушки не играли в игру?)))
Joel is 56
Wait….was the he’s so hot about tommy?? I thought was for pedro
