  • The first buttercream flowers I ever learned to make were these simple 5 petal flowers. All you need is a 104 piping tip, piping bag, and some buttercream! I promise after a few practice flowers, you'll be a buttercream flower pro!

    When I refill my empty piping bags I call the removal of the bubble “burping “🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Liz! You are so inspiring and use your recipes religiously for perfect and consistent results ❤️

    I wonder if my chocolate buttercream doesn’t pipe well because it’s too warm. How long would you chill the bag that got warmed up by your hand before using it again?

    Thank you so much for saying it takes some practice. I've tried to make these before and mine look super wonky like something from a Dr. Seuss book. Now I want to just practice them now. 😊

    Hi Liz!
    Hey, the Mexican vanilla you use, is it Daancy or an other brand? and if so, could you give a review of why you like it? I saw it in one of your videos a while back.
    Looking to get relief from high vanilla prices. Don’t want imitation. I’ve done a little reading on the vanilla blends but you are the first person I’ve ever seen using it.
    Thank you! Love Sugar geekin it with you!

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  5 років тому

      Yes I used to use Dancy, it's basically imitation vanilla (vanillan) so you can use any imitation vanilla extract and get the same result. I have recently been purchasing from Costco and it's saved me a lot of $$

    Hi! Thanks for sharing! If I wanted to make these and need to store them for about a week, how would I do that? I’m baking a 6 cascading tier cake for a quinceanera and want to make a bunch of these for the cakes. It’s my first big agenda!!

    Do you think you can make a video of how to figure out how much batter you need to make for different size cakes ? Idk if that made sense 🤣

    Hi dear, I know it's 3 yrs since you posted this but just came across this video today, wanted to know if I remove these buttercream flowers from the fridge and stack the cakes in the venue, won't these buttercream flowers melt on delivery, do I decorate the flowers on the cake before delivery or onsite. Appreciate your help. Thanks

    Cookie Gift Can Queen sells Sweetex Hi-Ratio shorting in small quantities for professional tasting buttercream icing. Just wanted to share with my fellow bakers a great find!

    Hey Liz... just wanted to let you know. I just saw the episode of Crazy Cakes where you made that giant Irish Bear. LOVED IT!! 😉 Now did I understand this right. Did you say the landscape was made out of *green* velvet cake?!? Heard of red velvet but never green. Green's my fav color. If I got that right, did you share that recipe on your ch?? Great job nonetheless... 👍

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  5 років тому +1

      yes it was green velvet. I just used my regular red velvet cake recipe and replaced the red food coloring with leaf green and it came out perfect. The recipe is on my blog www.sugargeekshow.com/recipes

    Is your Swiss meringue buttercream stabilized? Or will it deflate? Thanks! I’m trying to find a recipe where it will hold because I want to make a numbered cake.

    Should i put the buttervream flowers in the freezer to freeze? Or in the refrigerator?

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  3 роки тому +1

      Either will work, I put mine in the freezer so that they firmed up faster and were easier to handle when decorating my cake.

    How do you avoid air bubbles in your piping bags?? Somehow I always end up with air bubbles in the middle of my piping bags and it makes the ugliest piped icing! D:

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  5 років тому

      I make sure to let the buttercream mix on low for a long time until the buttercream is smooth and then if I add anymore buttercream to my bag, I smooth the air bubbles out as shown in the video to avoid pops
