    This product is certainly worth a revist one day as many of the issues you encountered are resolved. Of note, the thrust has been radically overhauled and the thing is no longer climbs like a fighter jet and comparing to real world cruise figures seems to be just about on par. There are detents for takeoff, climb, cruise now. Additionally, the sounds are also much improved. It has become my "go-to" aircraft for good cruise speed, yet gets into the smaller fields.

      Cheers 777,
      I certainly intend to revisit the addon at a later date. I’ll give it some time though, until the Mustang has fully matured / been completed; that way I should be able to demonstrate the product in its best light : )

      If it took one day for them to fix such issues like major performance changes, sounds etc. One could wonder why they just didn't simply move release date, test it properly and release final good quality product. I'm sick of this habit of some 3rd party MSFS devs and it is also one of the reasons I very seldomly (read never) buy anything new from unknown developers these days.

      Haha, not sure on that one Dillan. It’s the same on New Zealand’s South Island, around Milford Sound - it’s perpetual winter. and to finish it off, you could have selected Visual Approach in the G1000 NXi on approach to Stewart (it works for any airport) which would have given you a non precision GPS approach with good vertical and horizontal guidance, but again you would have to be doing more than just scratching the surface

      Indeed, I wasn't aware that was an option on the G1000 Desmo - thanks for the pointer. I'm not all that familiar with the Garmin; it's been a long time since I've used one in the real world and I don't generally use it much in the sim. That sounds like a good way of doing things for sure, but there's nothing inherently wrong with doing it the old school way either and I don't think my choice had any impact on the review (other than another opportunity for me to botch up using the G1000 haha ; )

    In the United States and Canada, Flight Levels are classified as Class A airspace and begin at FL180, (18,000 ft) so FL160 does not exist in Canada or the US

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi FTS,
      My pleasure, I’m really glad you enjoyed the vid!
      My primary reason for not using VNAV, if that I never tend to trust the default MSFS implantation haha (which I believe the Mustang uses). That being said, the default flight guidance in the sim is much better these days so, perhaps I should give it another go. In fairness, I also think it’s a little more challenging / entertaining, to try and manage such a profile “manually” so, that’s another reason I often opt to do so in a video : )
      I hope that clarifies things. All the best!

    Sir you did not switch ignition to ON before starting or it is not required in this aircraft?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Рік тому

      Hi NaijaPilot,
      I'm by no means an expert when it comes to the C510, but the checklist I was using didn't call for the ignition switches to go "ON". My guess would be that the "NORM" position is essentially the same as an "AUTO" position, ie the igniters come on automatically as and when required (and the "ON" position is for dealing with precipitation and other contingencies). As you can see, the engines did fire up when following the checklist, though the systems depth of the C510 wasn't great at the time of recording, so it could be that the start procedure was modelled inaccurately. . .
      I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )

      Hi True Blade,
      I expect we'll see better business jets at a later date, but right now I would probably have to say that the Working Title CJ4 is the best "all-rounder". The HJet is pretty excellent in most regards, but I find the flight model to be very sensitive (at least it was the last time I tried the jet). The CJ4 flies pretty nicely, has very decent systems depth and of course is free! The C510 still has some catching up to do. . .
      I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )

  • @jaysmith4302

    Good video. I believe you need to click the CDI button on the flight display until the HSI turns magenta. This will set GPS as the nav source and the autopilot should track the planned path in nav mode. Your other criticisms are certainly valid.

      Thanks very much for the info IB! No doubt these sorts of bizjets are pretty spritely but as it turned out, the C510 was actually given superpowers, because previously it had been underperforming in the cruise haha. As a quick fix, the developer ramped up the power, but that did indeed give the jet some overzealous performance during the takeoff / initial climb. You have to select the line below "origin" with the outer knob and then dial the inner knob to activate the window where you then can input your airports and waypoints. So without pressing ENT, just dial the inner knob on the line below.

So unless the FPL page on the Mustang is significantly different and I'm just being a numpty (certainly possible haha), I'm still inclined to say that it has issues (have you been able to enter a flight plan manually on the C510 yourself?).

    Has anyone experienced an engine failure with this a/c? I just completed a flight where I overflew what was left of Hurricane Debby (KCDK to KSAV) and it went well (although climb rate of course degraded as I went through the mid-20s and beyond--and I used FLC--topping out at FL310). However, mid-way through descent, engine #1 cut out without warning. I treated it as a flame-out and re-started successfully. However, regardless of thrust lever position (actual quadrant or mouse-dragging), N1 wouldn't budge from 100% and N2 ws 102+%. ITT wasn't pegged, but I simply had too much thrust for the pattern so I shut down #1 (dragging the on-screen lever to fuel cut-off) and continued with the CAT III VOR/DME 19 approach on one engine, spotting the rabbit just in time to get 'er down safely. Of course, IRL an alternate may have been in order, but desktop sims can tend to make one push the limits (not a good thing), and not knowing why #1 failed, what was to prevent #2 from suffering the same fate (fuel was not an issue and de-icing was on)? Once parked, I shut down (cold) and then re-started both engines, only to find that #1 still did not respond to power settings--it was still all or nothing. I then went back to the main menu, re-spawned the a/c on the KSAV ramp and re-started. Everything behaved normally and I had an uneventful flight to KHXD (slightly better conditions--this was my alternate) and a nice RNAV/LPV! appr to 21.
    Apart from the unexpected (but not unmanageable) failure and the usual MSFS AP issues (although it did fly the approach, mostly, and it handled Alt pre-set better than you describe), this is a very immersive a/c, the handling is great for hand-flying, it looks nice enough (and I saw none of the issues you mentioned), and it's generally a very nice experience. Not "study level," but enough systems are modelled to make it worth the sale price (US$10). A bit more depth would certainly be appreciated (and usable keypads), but it seems that they've addressed some of the issues you mention (including the sound). I do have an issue with the mini EFB--exactly where is that effing click-spot?!

    I thought my texture filtering quality had gone AWOL for this aircraft as the text for the switches (electrics, anti-icing and exterior lights) looks awful but on seeing this video of yours I see it is not me, it is this aircraft's cockpit textures that are crap. I just flew this exact same flight (albeit stopping off at CYXT as I ran out of fuel halfway @ FL320!!!) with TrackIR and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so I'm about to fly it again but in VR. It's just a shame there are some issues with this delightful aircraft, namely no sounds for switches and the resolution of the cockpit textures needs addressing.

      Haha, it seems to be that with TAA, the cockpit textures start to corrupt and with DLSS they are visible, but indeed not the sharpest. The C510 certainly still needs quite a bit of work, but it's great to see Cockspur continuing to plug away and I do think the jet has potential. Hi Dzurisintube,
      Bella Coola's runway is apparently about 1,300m in length. I would say I was airborne in less than half the length of the runway and actually hit Vr well before I was airborne (so about 400-600m for the takeoff run I reckon). My guess was correct though, the C510 was indeed overpowered at the time of recording; owing to the fact the aircraft was underpowered in the cruise, the dev bumped up the jets overall power, making it over-perform at lower alt. This was an interim fix and I gather the C510's performance is slowly being improved (I haven't had a chance to fly the addon again as of yet).

    None of the Garmin G1000/3000 implementations support the plane's instrument keyboard, which is a limitation of the sim & WT GPS software currently, so it's not fair to fault Cockspur here. I would assume you could still very much enter & edit a flight plan in the same way as any other current G1000, by using the rotary knobs. Might be a bit more fiddly though, since the knob is so distant from the screen. This will all be a non-issue once WT makes these little keyboards work.

    • @I_Evo
      @I_Evo 2 роки тому

      You also have the ability to enter waypoints, airports etc. with the WT G1000nxi using your own keyboard by pressing the vertical keyboard logo next to the entry point which is much quicker than using the rotary dial method. And of course the G3000 is touch screen so even easier.
      Agree regarding the ergonomics of using the central rotary and being able to see the data on the navigation display above, a custom camera position does help. You can alternatively enter your initial flightplan via the PFD which is much easier.

      Fair enough en0n; it wasn't a specific dig at Cockspur mind you, more just a breakdown of what was / wasn't working. You can indeed use the rotaries (albeit it can be a bit fiddly with the viewpoint), although the first time I flew the aircraft the F-PLN page just wasn't working at all, no idea what was going on there. . . Hopefully Working Title will bring the functionality sooner, rather than later, as that would certainly go a long way towards improving a number of addons.
      Most of the time in my reviews, I'm not looking to critique the dev, merely the product. It's obvious when a dev simply hasn't put the effort in and that didn't feel to be the case here, it just felt as though the product was released to early (in my opinion of course).

    I've read several places that Cockspur is a small operation and the intent is to provide updates/improvements. I would have no hesitation in buying the product but for that very reason.... Put it on the MSFS marketplace! A number of simmers don't like that avenue and I get it, keep more revenue by selling direct. But IMO life's too short to track umpteen different websites and fish around for logins/passwords separately for individual A/C every time there is an update. With Marketplace its all right there together and easy. So when Cockspur puts this one on that sales platform they'll get my business but not before.

Then again, I read that the developer put it to a vote, as to whether or not the product was released when it was; clearly there were more "yea's", so it's horses for courses I suppose.
      The Marketplace does seem to divide opinion, but I completely agree that it's annoying having addons spread across the internet (as I do haha). At the end of the day, it's always good to have more options! I'm not sure whether the plan is to release the 510 on the marketplace also - fingers crossed that they do.

      Indeed Paul. The aircraft was rather underpowered in the cruise but as Joseph points out, this was "addressed". Unfortunately the power was simply bumped up though, hence why I was seeing such an overpowered aircraft at low level. I gather the dev has continued to refine things, but I haven't had a chance to fly the jet subsequently.

      Hello Grisha,
      Thank you very much for the kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
      If memory serves me correctly, the manual should be located in the Mustang's main install folder (you'll find that in your sim's "Community" folder). Usually, any documentation is either buried away in the "Sim Objects" folder, or there is a separate "Documentation" folder within the aircraft's directory.
      Basically, look for the C510 inside your sim's Community folder and the documentation should be contained somewhere therein.
      I hope that gets you on the right tracks. Let me know if you still have issues finding it.
      Thanks very much once again and all the best to you! : )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 роки тому

      I find the sound balance of the addon to be a bit odd. Very loud when the aircraft is viewed from the rear (as you allude to Paul), but then rather too quiet when viewing the aircraft from the front. Personally I don't mind loud external sounds, but the soundset is certainly another area of the C510 that still needs some "tweaking" at the very least.
      All the best!

  • @SparkySven

    I have the plane also and like it much more than the Hjet because the engine sounds are so much better and handles also better hand flying. I do read on some sites the dev changes something on Asobo G1000 default code what could affect other planes so that's not done or ok but I did not notice any issues and autopilot followed the flight plan perfectly that I entered on world map before flight not in the nav unit. Personally I'm a PMS50 GTN-750 Premium user only so I can't work with the G1000 screens besides changing views and works also weather radar is working what is nice but also prefer the PMS50 GTN-750 option to be included in all planes (I know it's not realistic if the actual plane only has the G1000 screens). Nice video.

      Hi Sven,
      Thanks once again for the feedback! A mash-up between the HJet and the Mustang would be perfect haha. I prefer the Mustang as an aircraft and indeed Cockpsur's rendition flies / sounds better than FlightFX's jet, but the HJet feels so much more refined in terms of systems / avionics.
      The failure to follow a flight plan, was an unfortunate error on my part. I neglected to put the CDI into GPS tracking first (facepalm) - so apologies to Cockspur on that one!
      I think the Mustang certainly has potential, but as I mentioned in the video, there were a few omissions that surprised me, given the price point of the product.

      Yes, I generally agree. These days I expect a comprehensive soundset with a product and if it lacks one, the omission not only stands out like a sore thumb, but really kills the immersion for me personally. I expect Cockspur will add such sounds in due course, but it leaves a poor first impression not to have them from the outset.
      Cheers!

    Thanks heaps for the review, always awesome. I'm pretty good with GA aircraft but I find most jets that are being released in MSFS 2020 are way too complicated and the use of FMC is a real mystery for me. In FSX and P3D I was a fan of "lite" jets/airliners for those reasons. While I understand and appreciate the desire for full fidelity by some simmers there are many of us who for various reasons, aren't up to that. I like the fact that this aircraft flight plan can be set within the sim although for more experienced pilots I appreciate those wanting to use the FMC. Personally, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Boeing 757-200 release which will be released with both sets of pilots in mind. I agree that for the price, this aeroplane needs more work, but the potential is there for a a great flying experience. Ok, I'm done - now looking forward to the balloon review lol. 😁

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 роки тому +1

      You're most welcome as always Mr Squirel!
      I've absolutely no doubt you aren't the only one who feels the way you do and indeed "lite" jets used to be there to fill that market (something we haven't seen much of in MSFS, though I suspect we will in time). It sounds like the 757 should be a good option then and I suspect the F28 could be also? As Insel Affe points out, getting to grips with the FMC etc, may not be as difficult as it first appears, but not everyone enjoys that side of simming, so there's no point trying to force it (if it's not your cup of tea).
      If all else fails, the HPG Hot Air Balloon certainly isn't too tricky to get up and flying! : P

      I don't know about "super amateurish" Desmo - that feels a touch disingenuous, but I'm more than happy to hold my hands up and say that I made a mistake. I've reviewed some 80+ addons on the channel, a number of them fitted with Garmin avionics and it's the first time that I've made such a blunder. Nobody is beyond being a numpty haha; I'm always happy to point out that the error could be my own (I mentioned that at least once during the review) and I pinned a comment to the video, pointing out that the omission I made.
      I don't like to level fault at a product when the mistake is my own, so I apologise to Cockspur on that one!
      I think that's all pretty reasonable at the end of the day?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations

      Haha, there's actually some truth to that ML XD
      I'm so used to just pushing for NAV on the bus and for some reason (despite knowing better in actuality) I was expecting the same to happen here. I don't use the Garmin avionics in the sim all that often and my brain didn't kick in at the time annoyingly. . .
      It was an obvious and silly mistake retrospectively, but I don't think any pilot, sim or otherwise, could hold his hand up and say he's never done anything dumb haha.

    I was kinda dissapointed with this aircraft model. I hope future updates can address some of these deficiencies. Entering a flight plan using the onboard avionics was not easy and actually a PITA. I found it difficult to view the center console, throttles and trim wheels. That may be my ineptness. The zoom makes everything look off and cartoonish.

      The inability to use the plane's hardware keyboard is a limitation of all G1000 systems in MSFS. They all must use the knob. This compatibility will surely be added by Adobo/Working Title at some point, and then it'll be nice to have a plane with a keyboard in it for your G1000. There's nothing this jet's dev could have done here for now really (other than the huge task of making a new G1000).

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 роки тому

      Me too unfortunately AcMeKaNiK. I think the Mustang has potential, but I was expecting something more on a par with the HJet and currently the addon still has quite some way to go. As you say, trying to enter a flight plan is rather fiddly at best, although I suppose Cockspur can't be blamed for the geometry of the C510's cockpit. There are quite a lot of details currently missing in flight model, sounds, systems etc, but it does seem as though the dev is cracking on and updating the product in fairness (which is great to see).
      Cheers, all the best! : )
