Hey Susie ojita and I used to sit in her dad's old station wagon and listen to the radio. You didn't need the keys to turn it on her brother later became a Yankee
I remember on the school bus, and at recess all the girls would sing this with a special clap Clapping their own hands, knees, and eachothers hands. Had to be 1994/95, and this is my first time hearing the original song 🥴
I guess I am the only old timer here because I loved Little Anthony and the Imperials. And I used to run home after school to watch the Dick Clark (American Bandstand ) Show. I don't who or what Exo or Sehun is. I suppose it's nice that everything old is new again. :)
Just the same for me. I was blessed to see them do those in 2007 in Johnson City, NY at a small venue. Did all their songs. Sammy Strain. I love you forever 💛 💓
It's okay if you don't know them. As music enthusiast (K-Pop inside), I was so surprised knowing that EXO inspired by the vintage masterpiece. But then I can say that both of them are cool.

Maybe I'm just kinda like this
I don't know, maybe I'm just like this
I say I live in Rosemead
Really, I'm at the Ramada
It doesn't really matter
Doesn't really, really matter
Call him up, he comes over again
Yeah, I know I'm over my head, but, oh

Slips out the back door to talk to me
I'm invisible, look how you hold me
I'm invisible, I'm invisible
I'm a ghost now, look how you hold me now
It's not about havin' someone to love me anymore (oh, okay)

I'm obsessed.
I've always thought the "Ohhhhh oh oh oh" sounds haunting which is part of what makes the song sound magical.
Yes! As a kid I thought that too... haunting... distant eerie.
Saw Little Anthony twice 15+ years ago and he still had it big time! Great singer/entertainer.
what the hell went wrong with music...this is so cool!
I blame the british invasion for that.
lol
What? The Who? The Beatles? You're barking up the wrong tree man, try looking at disco.

Shimmy shimmy bop (ahh)
Sittin' in a native hut
All alone and blue
Sittin' in a native hut
Wonderin' what to do
Along came a native girl
Did a native dance
It was like in paradise
Put me in a trance
Goin' shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Joined her in her dancin' spree
Felt my spine a-tingle
Held her tight and close to me
Man, I'm glad I'm single
Then she showed me what to do
First I was amazed
Soon I learned a step or two
Put me in a daze
Goin' shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
You can do the ko-ko bop
Now's no time to stop
Left foot forward
Right one back
Bring them side by side
Syncopate your last two steps
Now you're gonna glide
Keep along the rhythm track
Girls please show 'em how
Now you start to arch your back
Man, you got it now
Goin' shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop, oh
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy bop
Shimmy shimmy ko-ko-bop
Shimmy shimmy ahhhhhh
Thank you! :)
