    You could stop in at the local hardware and get 2 or 3 half inch nuts and toss them in. They don't need to be marbles.
    Stainless nuts would work, heck you could even use the bolt.

  • @eagle18hls
    @eagle18hls 5 років тому +16

    Marbles would be a safer agitator for the plants vs steel and you could leave glass marbles inside the container for the life of the bottle. And yes some spray paint bottles have marbles instead of steel balls.

    • @HowlingFarms
      @HowlingFarms  5 років тому +3

      Da SuitMan Stainless steel is a non-reactive metal. Hence the reason it is used for cookware, flatware, medical devices, etc.. Stainless steel works just fine and they won’t break or shatter like glass marbles. Also, be sure your marbles are lead free, not all aren’t. But, you’re correct, they may be a cheaper alternative.

    • @flippinmarilyn
      @flippinmarilyn 5 років тому +1

      I like where you’re going with this. Marbles would be even cheaper! And glass is neutral so it makes sense!

      @@HowlingFarms that is usually true, but when using more corrosive or salty liquids, the type of stainless steel can sometimes be important. You're probably fine, but for the Hell of it I'd go for one with Molybdenum in it (316 Stainless as opposed to 304)

    I used GH Grow and Bloom for several grows. I've never had good luck with these product. I've tried the recommended dose and tried variations of it (half dose, quarter dose in between bucket changes) along with using Hydrogaurd and CalMag. Always burns the tips, slow growth, yellow spots. I have found that after about 6 months, the product starts to smell like vinegar, and the pH is on the low side as opposed to when it was first opened up. I also don't like that it stains the roots brown making it hard to tell if there is rot.

    This strikes me as a good idea but I've heard that your not suppose to expose your plant or products to metals of any sort. I would assume that you are going to leave those metal bearings in the fertilizer until it is empty. Does this strike you as a good idea and do you think it would cause the fertilizer/plant issues down the road? Thanks

      HC Trouble Stainless is not a problem. Essentially stainless is the same as “surgical steel” or medical grade. The balls are always like new when removed. No rust or mineralization to be found.

    Fact is, any kind of nutrient within reason will do. I use the 3 part General Hydroponics. I have had many successes and more failures. The key is not in nutrients. They all do a good job. Temperature, and humidity is your make or break. Always seek lowest temps and lowest humidity. Your Ph is tertiary, but still important. In soilless just water with 6.3 for the first watering, in soilless, and that sets the substrate for perfection. No problem. And if you do have problems, lower your ppm. Lockout is always because of one of two things. Messed up Ph or overfeeding. Always underfeed. there is no reason to allow your solution to go much over 1200 ppm. To know your values, read your discharge. If it is over 2000ppm you are overfeeding. FloraNova is no better than their 3 part system except for ease of use. And Believe me flora nova is fine, but like the man says, shake it until you are dizzy.

    • @HowlingFarms
      @HowlingFarms  3 роки тому

      I have used the 3 part series in the past and found that you can really dial in with the 3 part series. Particularly if you need more Micro nutrients. The problem I ran into was I was always having to order each one at separate times. I switched over to this one and had much less maintenance and more savings in both money and time. I highly recommend this series. If you find you need to supplement, it's easy to buy supplements. With these quart size bottles, I can get 2 - 3 complete grows of 2 - 3 plants each grow. You can try it in the pint size (pretty cheaply) for both with this set: amzn.to/2WlsmZa
