Those cobblestone pathways are absolutely amazing. The views from the top are spectacular. You do feel like you are walking through time there. WOW!! Those views of the water. Lovely tour of the home.
It is just so quaint and as you say it feels like you are walking through time. Glad you liked it. Thanks for coming with us. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Such a lovely place to visit. Thanks for the nice look around 😊😊😊
You are always welcome my friend. Thanks for coming along. We are glad you enjoyed it. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
The going diagonal up a steep hill is something I learnt in Japan watching elderly Japanese riding their bikes up mountains, they zigzagged their way up. I tried it and it works!
It most certainly does. A woman actually said to me as I was walking back up. “ doing that doesn’t make a difference and laughed at me with her kids” I bet she does it now though. 🤣🤣
Nice to see the tour of the fisherman's cottage and the chapel! We missed those! 😮
Very interesting to see. And get a sense of how things were.
@@WanderingwithWatto I just realised I didn't see any cats in your video! Did you see many? There were loads of cats the day we were there!😻
@@MagentaOtterTravels it a single one. Wow how strange.
@@WanderingwithWatto I know what it was! Cats don't like rain, so they were all sheltering inside!!
I really enjoyed this video! Clovelly has been on my bucket list for ages. The chapel and the fisherman’s cottage were lovely! I did not realise that there were places open to explore. Thanks Kim and Watto for showing us around.
You are welcome Louise. It is worth the visit although I do t think you should have to pay to visit a village 🤷🏻♂️. Nonetheless we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Thanks for showing us around Watto another nice seaside town . Cute fisherman's cottage and sea views. Thanks for sharing with us 👍
Glad you enjoyed it mate. It is well worth a visit. Be good and have a great weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
@@WanderingwithWatto Big thanks 😊 👊🏼👊🏼👍 You both too
Notification set 👍
Lovely narrow street and truly charming vibe - great video again 👍👍😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along with us. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Such a beautiful day out Watto. Such a distinctive harbour village it is definately worth a visit.
Fantastic views & the houses and narrow streets are so quaint 😍👌🏻
Always made beautiful when with you. ❤️
Loved the intro Watto. You did that very well indeed. A new 'look'? Kim you'll need those wings on the way up I am thinking...! Oh what a clever idea- a sled! 👌Gorgeous views...but watch those cobbles. Drat that rain- such a pity, though the skies are awesome. I love how most of the houses are white. Nothing like fresh fish for dinner. Gosh I feel so silly. We were so close here last year- never went 😱! What a mistake that was. Loved the wee fisherman's house and chapel. Really cool relics from the past. Haha invisible donkeys. What a great promo for Clovelly. Have an awesome week. 😎👌🙋♀🥝ps. shared on Community!
Bless you Anita. Glad you enjoyed it. Worth a visit despite the entrance fee. Ah you will need to visit next time you are over. Do t forget to contact us if you do. We would absolutely love to wander with you. Have a good week. Massive thanks from us both. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Those cobblestone hills look like they would be pretty slippery in the rain. Gorgeous area and some amazing views of the sea and buildings.
Wow! I did not know you can turn fishbones into glue! The stuff you learn in places like this.
Yes indeed Donna.slipoy with all the rain. We enjoyed our visit. And yes we now know you can make glue from fish bones. 🤷🏻♂️👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi Watto & Kim! Firstly, well done on the steep hilly climbs and descents. Impressive! Clovelly is so scenic and has so much character. An absolute gem. Beautiful sea and countryside views at the beginning and a lovely wander through the quaint little town. I enjoyed seeing the inside of the old fisherman's cottage. I loved the narration too 😊😊
Thank you kindly. It is a lovely village and shows how nice our country actually is. It’s a gorgeous place and we enjoyed our visit. My one small issue is the visitor centre and the fact you have to pay to walk around a village. But I guess that is where we are now. Thanks as always for your support. Hope you have a great weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Loved that guys. Smiling from start to finish. What a beautiful place and it really does make you appreciate what an amazing country we have on our doorstep. This was somewhere we would love to visit. 10/10 ❤
Ah thank you so much. We had a fabulous day despite every type of weather imaginable. It is places like these that are just quintessentially Great Britain. I love this country with a passion. And wish more people did. You guys would love North Devon. A rugged coastline with lots of great villages and walks to explore. Thanks for coming along. Be good and have a great weekend.
👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️❤️
@@WanderingwithWattodefinitely a bit of us, we are looking forward to exploring it in person. Thank you for these amazing travel blogs ❤
Honestly really enjoyed this wander Watto. What a quaint and pretty village, love how the cobbled streets maintain such charm. Shame about the weather but in all honesty, it looked incredible still. Amazing visiting the gorgeous beach at the bottom and those village houses were very unique, always fun to have a nosey. Loved the music and the way you presented, Devon really suits you both! Thank you again for the excellent video!!
Ah thanks soo much 🙏🏻🙏🏻. Your comments and support really mean more than you know. Thank you for your Briliant support. I hope we can meet you both one day for a chin wag. Enjoy the long weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Lovely visit. Went down to the village in my teens but not since. I forgot how much there is of the village and just how pretty it is. Good chance to get some exercise. There are some great views along the coast and of the harbour as you descended. Wise to leave the exhibits until on the way up. Opportunity to get your breath back. Really enjoyable.
Thanks Ivor. Yes it is lovely there. A little pricey but I guess that’s how it is these days. The views weee beautiful as we went down. Ha ha you spotted the tactical decision to leave the exhibits for the way back. It certainly is a test for the old legs. Especially carrying a. It of timber like me. Could have done with a donkey.
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked it. Take care. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♂️
Rain, that's a shock mind....I wish it was a shock this year but more like the norm so far this year. To be fair when the rain stopped and the sun came out it looked great there, although not sure I would want that round as a postman. Despite that steep decent I loved the cobbled road and the narrow streets and a hot Devon pasty would be the perfect excuse to have a rest on the way down and on the way back up! I am going to have to have to give that zig zag method of ascending a go and the cottage was well worth a look around, so nice to see it had not been modernised, same with the chapel of St Peter too! Cheers Alan
Actually sunny here today for a change. Won’t last. Clovelly is lovely a real timeless village. Er no the postman’s job is not for me. Definitely a pasty. The zig zag really works in steep ascents. Really takes the edge of the gradient. I saw it on a Japanese YT video 🤷🏻♂️. Certainly helps my dodgy hip cope anyway. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope you are having a good weekend. Cheers from us both here in Glos vegas. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi guys now that is a lovely village. Absolutely loved the cobbles and the cottages were just fabulous. Wouldn't fancy it in the winter bet those cobbles are very slippy. The view over the sea was wonderful. Good work doing that hill back up again. Great you can go into some of the cottages for a look around weren't they great. The attic was a bit of a climb well done Kim . Pity they didn't have any donkeys as they would have been useful to get up and down. A really interesting video we enjoyed it very much.Best wishes Dave and Dawn ❤️
Thank you both. It is a very nice village and being able to see inside the cottages was very interesting. Glad you enjoyed watching. Hope you have a great weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
That Clovelly hill can be a bit tough to walk... I would NOT want to do that in the rain! I remember being grateful I had on sturdy shoes that day. It would be treacherous in the rain!
I'm glad you got to see a sled!! I didn't when we visited ☹️
Great video showing the beautiful, unique village and sharing its fascinating history!👍
Thanks Dara. It was a bit sloppy as the rain turned to hail. But the sun came out eventually. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
@@WanderingwithWatto hail?! Hail no!!!😱
Where's a vernacular train when you need one? 🤣🤣Or at least a donkey to ride! That mail would be awful late if I was the postman. Quaint town though and we loved seeing the cottage. Dangerous stairs with no handrail though! Creepy sounding gentleman too. Enjoyed wandering with you both, Watto and Kim.
Thanks guys. Always a pleasure to have you along with us. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Wow!! Those cobblestone pathways!! Loved exploring this area with you guys!
Thank you 🙏🏻 so much. I am glad you enjoyed watching. I appreciate you coming along. Best wishes 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶🏼♀️Watto & Kim
Brilliant video Watto 👍
Thanks mate. Glad you liked it. Hope you are all good 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
What a beautiful place, I think the walk up would have put me off going down. Does look amazing though 😊
🤣. Tbh Cara once I was down at the harbour. I looked up and thought oh dear. In the summer there is a Land Rover to take you back. It is a great place to explore and well worth the visit. Glad you enjoyed it. See you soon with Ellie and Martyn for a group outing. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
@@WanderingwithWatto Look forward to it 🙂
Lovely little town, very picturesque. It emphasised again to me how many places in Australia have place names from the UK. Adelaide has a suburb called 'Clovelly Park' I had thought it was named after a Mr Covelly, as lots of town planners named places after themselves or a patron. Now I know it's a town in Devon!
Ah maybe so. It is interesting hearing all the place names being used. I often see them in videos or tv etc. I guess us brits tried to influence the world. 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a great weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Great video Paul & Kim!
I have been to Clovelly a couple of times - lovely! I like your diagnonal walking tip for the ascent!
Some really great facts here - and I like the explore of the cottages - they weren't open on my visit, so it was great to see that.
Keep up the fab work!
Take care,
Paul
Thanks Paul. We did enjoy it. And it was very interesting seeing inside. I do wonder how busy it gets in the summer and if it is the same experience. Glad you liked it. Hope you’re good and Dad is doing well.
👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Great fun and as always-Totally enjoyable
Thanks James. Really glad you enjoyed coming along with us. best wishes from us both.👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Love those tiny sts😂 that would be awesome place to do some fishing! Great tour👍🏼
Thanks LB. A good fishing spot indeed. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
That was great. Such a lovely place. Been there few times. Took a nice walk by the harbour to see the waterfall and found a load of baby sharks that had been washed up 😳
It is Phil. Yeah the waterfall is nice. Would have been good footage if I didn’t film my pocket while walking there. Then what I thought was turning the camera on was actually turning it off. 🤷🏻♂️. Baby sharks. Wow. I assume dogfish. Strange they were washed up.
Wow there wasn’t a visitor centre when I went years ago! Such a beautiful place great video ❤
Thanks Teresa. Yeah has been commercialised which is a shame. We went off season so it was pretty quiet. I guess in the summer the crowds would spoil it a bit.
Now there's a quaint spot for sure! Well, since I never know if I'm coming or going, not sure what the path would be called! lol The cobblestones are sure marvelous!! Probably not the easiest to walk on though. Hello Wales!! 👋 Sure had a wonderful day to explore!!
Thanks Bruce. I’m the same. Glad you enjoyed it. Take care my friend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Great video guys. What a gorgeous place. We've seen this place in a few vlogs. It looks stunning. Great work guys 🍻
Thank you. It is worth a visit for sure as long as you are prepared for how steep it is.
Thanks for coming along. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Thant was a great tour Watto again your the best at this style of film
Looked a great day out (my sister visited here and sang its praises )
Have a great weekend say hi to Kim for me Paul 🙏🏼
Simon 🤠👍
Wow thanks Simon. So kind of you to say so. ( Shame YT doesn't think so ) they are both well worth visiting and makes a great day out. even better in the sun. Thanks again mate. have a great week. 👍🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♀️
Wow, I had never heard of Clovelly before. It is absolutely scenic. You have a way of telling stories that is laid back yet captivating. Living in such a place, one would get fit with walking up and down those inclines. I love that they used local cobblestones to pave their streets ❤
Aw bless you for your very kind words. I really appreciate your support. And taking the time to watch and comment. You are right about getting fit living there. It was an effort in the way back up for sure. But well worth it.
Hope you are enjoying the long weekend. Lots of love from us both. 🙏🏻👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
🌟🌟🌟 will try and be here Watto but I'm still at work ( I'll sneak off and have a watch when I can haha ) Looks so nice though!
Bless you Alessa. We appreciate all your support always. 🙏🏻👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Ahh lovely its a decent climb back up isn't it great weather to 👌👌 Glyn
Glyn it is a great place. We enjoyed our visit. And even the climb back up. Plenty of tactical breathers in the way. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi Watto and Kim
Hope you are both well
Great video
What a charming little village 😊 looks lovely
Love the narration, very informative
Nice to see the sun making an appearance
Loved the Fisherman's cottage
Boo would have to be carried up and down that hill 😂😂😂😂
Hope you're having a good week
Thanks guys. We are all good thanks. It is a very nice village and having a poke around in the cottage was interesting. As for the hill. I’m still recovering. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
what a great video...thanks for the share Mister Watto...have a great day
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along with us. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
👍1 See you then!
Usual seats reserved. 👍🏻
Morning Kim and watto 😊😊 I sometimes do that zig zag technique when walking up hills too😁😁 I remember meeting someone on a mountain before who told me the technique and it genuinely did help 😊 lovely cobblestone streets and pretty white houses it looks a lovely village. Another really nice sea view this looks a fab area very picturesque. Benches too 😁😁
Hi Yasmin. Yes deffo works. Makes you look a bit silky but I don’t care. It is a very nice place to visit. And plenty of benches ofcourse.
Glad you liked it. Hope you are well. Enjoy the weekend. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Cor blimey my legs would've been shot to pieces. Lovely views. 🧸🐻
It was an effort for sure. There are plenty of strategic benches. I would have used a donkey if I could have found one. 🫏
That was very funny....😂....the town is an absolute workout!
Yep no need for the gym there.
Great walk in a charming town. How are you doing with watch hours by the way?
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Watch hours are a non event. No where near 4 k.
Got a dr appointment will try to make it
Thank LB we appreciate your support all the time. Hope all is ok. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Nice tour of the village, Watto. I don't think the Mrs would like to visit though, she dislikes hills more than you do.
Thanks Andy. In the summer there is the option to take a Land Rover ride back up the access road for £3.ish. Tbh I did struggle on the return hence no footage of me going back up. 🤣🤣
9:09 ok I will have to give that using angles when climbing a hill a try. Never heard a whole village being owned by someone. So does everyone there rent from them? That brings up so many questions.
It really works on a steep hill. I believe they are all tenants and as part of the agreement must be full time tenancy. Ie no holiday homes.
