    This makes the most sense. I type out as INTP over the last 20 years. But, looking at the over all profiles, I identify better with ISTP. My intuition is quite developed, I'm definitely Ti lead, but I'm aware of my environment and can jump in to interact with it easily in a crisis (I'm an ER nurse and love that part of my job best). My intuition has me trying to gather ideas to make sense of the big picture all the time too (which I also love doing).

      I just realized my friend who tested as an INTP who I kept thinking was an INTJ was actually an ISTP because he loved organizing patterns. He kept saying Ti things that I just would disregard because, "Well he has N but is not like my Ne so he can't be an INTP, he must just be an INTJ."
      Well he's an ISTP, surprise suprise.
      Now I feel like such an ass. There was an ISTP girl who I rejected, after a convoluted series of events.
      In chronological order. I pursued her for 3 months. She rejected me 4 times.
      6 months later she just sends me a text that said 'INTP'. We started texting, a lot. More than I usually ever do. I practiced communicating to her on her own terms. She felt like I knew her better than anyone else. She admitted she loved me and I rejected her, saying it wouldnt work. I'm an ENFP Ne/Te.
      I feel like a total ass now because I let some stupid bias system define my relationships. I doubt she'll ever forgive me.
      forgive me Al Gore.

      Lia, that's should be because your "Persona" (social face) is INTP and your "Ego" correspondingly is ISTP. Or vice versa. I could suggest reading Jung if you want to understand this more. MBTI doesn't cover this thing.

    Wow! While my experience is unavoidably subjective, I will mention that it overlaps considerably with this video. #1- I recently shared with someone that I feel like the cognitive functions are too "neat" and just because someone tells me that my functions are in a certain order, doesn't mean I always use them in that order. It really depends on how much time I spend in the inner or outer world. For instance, if someone spends a LOT of time in their preferred world (the one that allows them to use their first and third function often), it makes sense that during those times, the second function would not get as much practice. It doesn't mean suddenly their type changes or they are a different personality. (In contrast, if they start balancing their time more, or spend more time in the contrasting world, the second function would beef up.) #2- I just told an I--P recently, "It isn't the facts about this situation that are important, it is that this is becoming a pattern." SO TRUE that this is how I see the world. #3- I challenged myself to have a "4th function week"; I set a goal, set an end date for that goal, objectively described the reward and conditions for receiving that award, and then I went to work. It was HARD WORK, but I did notice what you said: I got pretty excited about each little thing, like I was a kid learning a new skill. There was a little bit of judgment that I "shouldn't have to" go to such lengths just to get simple chores done, but I mostly let those go and I achieved my goal!

    It appears to me that Double Observer types are honed in, more than anything else, on the role and impact of people....whether those people refer to themselves and/or others. If that dichotomy of self/other or other/self creates havoc in their lives, they could easily be a Double Observing type (because the Observing functions and their interplay [i.e., chaos vs. structure/control] will create less havoc in their lives than the role of the Deciding functions at positions #1 and #4). The giving vs. taking (and vice versa) or selfish vs. selfless (and vice versa) dichotomies play a huge role here, if I am understanding everything properly.

    I can't believe you've already made this information online. I thought I was the only weirdo who thought this was the reality of cognitive functions. It is so obvious, even on tests people often get like high Ti and Ni, or high Ne and Te, high Fi and Ni etc. But they got so caught up with MBTI system, when Jung himself actually suggested something more along this line regarding auxiliary functions. They read it and they go like "oh" and it escapes them

    What about double “judgers” or “deciders”? What does that look like with two judging functions in the middle? I can speculate, but would like your input.
    Also, I see how you have subtypes each type into tertiary preference and auxiliary preference. Do you think that tertiary preferring types are “healthy”? By that, I mean, that in cross referencing a lot of other thought on function dynamics, that someone who is constantly jumping their aux function is avoiding a growth part of them that is in a different orientation from their dominant. Looping. I know you know about all this, just wondering what your thoughts are? Too theoretical?

  • @EndlessKurtis

    Great new perspective to explain a lot of typing confusion out there.

  • @PowerRedBullTypology
    @PowerRedBullTypology 5 років тому +6

    The problem with this idea is that if the 2 middle functions can apparently be switched like that, then why can the other 2 functions not be switched (1 and 4?). One could of course argue that these stay consistant because their difference is so big (like hte 90% and 10% example). However, the problem is that if the middle 2 functions are 'balanced', it means their difference is relatively small. How can something like typology testing really determine such a small difference? I mean, in typology testing still remains a soft science, which means everyhthing is pretty much some kinda estimation or indirect perception of truth rather than a measurement of truth itself. . If the 2 middle functions are balanced and their difference is like 10% or whatever, then how can one claim with certainty that one function really is bigger if the difference between their strength is so relatively small and not a measurement error? Also, is the claim that "50%" of the people people have their 3rd and 2nd functin swapped quite a convenient or even strange number in science. Dave & co very oftne use the number "50%" for different things. What is the chance that such devisions are all around 50%. The chance would statistically be extremely small.

  • @saandyyvh6682

    Ok so...
    Ne would gather patterns and stuff like that and then Si organizes it. Tries to find the information in it?
    Se gathers sensory info and then Ni organizes that info into patterns and abstractions?
    Si-Ne/Ne-Si= Deductive?
    Ni-Se/Se-Ni=Inductive?

    • @brackonstudios
      @brackonstudios 6 років тому +7

      I think your assessment of deductive and inductive approaches actually makes sense (unlike when people say Te is Inductive and Ti is Deductive) Ne gathering patterns or ideas and condensing them down with Si may make what they would consider a 'fact' or piece of empirical data to better understand the crazy, topsy-turvy world. Whereas Se gathers what they consider to be empirical data (all functions are subjective and or biased, it just depends on how much) in attempts to explain why or what secretly causes the world to be crazy and topsy-turvy in the first place. Hence his point about they get excited about uncovering the truth. So with that in mind, Ne/Si would likely get excited when they solidify a viewpoint.

    • @robbished
      @robbished 6 років тому +1

      brackonstudios solidify a viewpoint?! That won’t happen. Would be like standing still, hence “_view_point” ;-)

    • @brackonstudios
      @brackonstudios 6 років тому +2

      Robert Lindin Haha, I get what you're saying or joking about, but I think an Ne type, because of coupled Si and regardless of the 'muscle imbalance', really does want to have/manipulate/narrow down tangible or concrete(real) facts and concepts they've reasoned or liked to be true. Se/Ni doesn't really get the concern over this, for the world is full of tangible and concrete things, they want fresh ideas and perspectives from said material to amuse or benefit themselves with. Ne/Si doesn't get that sort of fixation because the world already has infinite potential ('isn't it obvious Se/Ni?') but at some point in their life they need and will develop an anchor of principles or outlooks ('This is how the world is.') which they can raise and lower at their leisure so they can quit drifting and get down to business of creating real world results they want or find interesting.
      In essence: Se/Ni walks and records the plain of objectivity with a canvas or camera to provide insights and depict beauty, of it's nature and potential, in order to enjoy perspectives for themselves or present to others blind to things their clever eye has seen beyond the surface. On the flip side, Ne/Si sails the seas of chaos without a map, preferring to find and chart islands themselves, in order to go fishing, pearl diving, or treasure hunting, for the sake of wearing/displaying or sharing said discoveries.

    Am having problems deciding my type tbh. Based on the video single deciders have double observers middle. i**p. Looking back, when I was a younger and more.. imaginative, I usually made scenarios in my head like. For instance, if a fire started right now, I'd do this, this and that, so I wouldn't waste time if it actually happened. Or looking around in case of a bombing etc to find the most efficient exit, think of actions to adopt so I can be way more persuasive when lying. I don't do that anymore am an honest man. Does that mean am no longer intp? Granted I don't these thing so much because other things take my time. Also it is stated, a single deciders observers are more balanced, does that mean that despite being called 'deciders' they have a harder time deciding. Easier time observing since they don't beat themselves up as much about it.
