6000 Series Cars at the CTA Skokie Shops

- If you take the Yellow Line (Skokie Swift) regularly, you've more than likely seen these views.
CTA, you need to house those 6000 series cars, so they don't get vandalized any more than they already are!
The silver and black pair with the red, white and blue band is in the Spirit of Chicago paint scheme -- the pair behind it is in the classic 6000 livery: Mercury Green on the bottom, Croydon Cream on top, with a Swamp Holly Orange stripe at the beltline and a green band surrounding the standee windows.
You'll also see some 2400 work cars and a gaggle of CTA train car front fascias stacked against each other on the ground.
Wow that's sad. I think CTA should pay to repaint them. It sucks that I don't think CTA could paint them themselves due to probably not having their own paint booth, any where on system. (I wonder if CTA ever had a paint booth)
I wonder what the CTA did when the fleet was all 6000's, 4000's and 2000's, all with paint that needed maintenance.

Because it seems like Spray paint cans weren't invented till the 1940's
@@P0w2you There have been spray guns powered by compressed air since the 1880's, when they were used to paint Southern Pacific railcars. They would have been around when St. Louis Car Company was painting the 6000's when they were being built in the early 1950s, and to the CTA in the '70's when they were respraying them in black and silver for the Bicentennial.

A very disturbing thing I've ever seen!! Why would these young fools do such a thing to these priceless relics?!! No class!!
It's terrible that rolling stock can't sit outside without this kind of thing happening.

Cameras and security everywhere and yet the vandals can still reach these trains. Pathetic the security team is!!! All they do is look at their phones for eight hours!!!
