I remember discovering GomTV when I was in college. These were truly simpler, happier times. So much excitement to finally see live SC action -- I felt like the future had arrived.
I remember watching the first seasons of GSL on the GOM Player at 360p because Twitch wasn't a thing yet and you had to pay the subscription for higher quality lol
Super interesting that you can't cast without being able to hear your own feed. I choke up and can't manage to finish a single sentence when I hear myself echoing through something. Love the stories, Tasteless!
I love stories like this, and really, I'd love to see you lift the veil more often on what it's like to actually be a part of the production. The audience never really gets to see or understand all the hamster wheels that make these productions possible, so it's really cool to get to hear the perspective of one of those hamsters.
Big fan here. I've been following your casts since Heart of the Swarm, and I love your energy and attitude towards casting. It's so light and refreshing! Keep it up dude :) I would love to see more videos like this in the future.
i think for me and maybe for a lot of people, these kinds of stories are super enjoyable. I love watching SC2 and BW games - but players come and go where as these two casters have been the constant. i just love getting this behind the scenes info. I rewatch things like Day9 daily 100 - the BW remastered launch party - and the BW holiday bash, semi regularly, for this reason. It's fun to hear the stories about the old days. good video man
my worst gig was actually blizzcon finals where the disconnects were happening because there was too much apm for the custom lan client. it was unforseen but so frustrating
All these pictures and videos with Artosis are so funny and so nostalgic! You guys should make a small video with pictures and clips from across the years! 😄
Awesome story and breakdown of how the setup should look like , it's like we were tagging along with you and Tosis to the event :D Looking forward to you guys casting GSL with Dan now from Canada !
I'll ask the question then: although you say you can't remember all the finals that you casted, is there one final that still stands out to this day in your casting career and why ?
Back in the very, very early days of Brood War esports in korea, I used to download VOD's from this site that just hade them all listed according to date(I think it was according to date) just a white background with columns of VOD after VOD, and I used to sit and watch them and listening to the Korean commentators, not understanding a word, but loving their energy, and I specifically remember thinking "why would anyone want some boring english commentary, I can see what's going on myself, don't need some fucking moron to explain it to me!" Now I can't imagine watching Brood War/SC 2 without Nick and Dan.
Love the story. It goes to show how much goes into a casters job. Sure you're sitting on the sidelines and we only get to see a fraction of the backend you have to deal with. Great stuff. Please put out some more stories.
I'd love more stories! Tell us about you meeting & hanging out with Nal_rA! Tell us all kinds of behind the scenes stuff of GSL! Tell us about your days playing Brood War competitively! Tell us about times you were in the audience for a legendary game and what it felt like to be there and watch it! I want to hear it all haha, I love listening to these types of stories
Absolutely great storytelling! So can someone explain the aggressively loud background music? It sounds like a kid is told to play in the basement and mom's new BF Link from Zelda is banging her upstairs and they turn up the N64 background music to hide it.
This was a great story, I'd love to hear more. I've been following you and Dan all through SC2, getting your autograph at MLG Anaheim 10 years ago was awesome. I'd especially be interested in your thoughts about the evolution of eSports behind the scenes, production, etc. Not many people have been there the way you have. Thanks and take it easy!
Love the stories!! I don't have time to play sc these days, but been watching since the very first days at GOM and so fun to walk that memory lane 👍🍻 also excited for content about the future (stormgate etc)
Love this stuff I've been watching your UA-cam channel just because I'm a huge fan and have been for I mean over a decade now and I you know wanted to support you but I'm not really huge into watching starcraft 1 honestly but this sort of stuff just hearing you tell stories about whatever you feel like is great and you definitely would have a viewer in me for any of those. Keep up the good work I hope you're doing well.
You should upload stories about how you're managing life and how you're supporting yourself. Pros and cons of living where you live, etc. Those are always interesting and insightful.
that sounds a lot like Blizzard hired the wrong kind of production company to do the sound. Sounds like people who normally set up concerts and are used to musicians who use monitor speakers.
yeah this is awesome. you have such a unique view of the scene. and it's a scene where i feel the personalities of the players don't really show through to the audience. more stories please. how about some funny/wacky stories of interactions with some of the sc1 pros?
We love you tasteless - would love to get your take on how you feel SC1 and SC2 have evolved on the pro level over time and what you think the future of pro play looks like 👍 👍 👍
Yes please! I'd love to hear any and all casting stories or just funny stories from the starcraft community!
7:20 I audibly belly laughed at "well that's gonna blaaaast the in-game sounds to you"
Big fan, used to stay up mad late to catch your GOM TV casts of sc2, loved it, miss it so much. Keep the stories coming please :)
I remember discovering GomTV when I was in college. These were truly simpler, happier times. So much excitement to finally see live SC action -- I felt like the future had arrived.
Dude, you hit a core memory, I used to this as well, I would stay up all night, watch the show and then go to college haha
I remember watching the first seasons of GSL on the GOM Player at 360p because Twitch wasn't a thing yet and you had to pay the subscription for higher quality lol
@@tylerbickford3471 yeah that gomplayer was something else eh
Some of us still do... :eyes:
Wow, whoever found all the old clips to edit into this is a fukn hero.
Yes please, more stories! Loving this format.
I enjoy hearing random stories, ty tassels
Holy hell, seeing pictures of younger Tasteless really cranks the nostalgia up to 100. I remember watching the GOM TV stuff as a teenager
More stories
Weekly stories sounds great
Seeing all that old casting footage brings back memories of the good times
I for one would really love to hear your casting stories! I got my zergling for storytime!
Cant wait for the ASL vods tasteless!!
My body is ready !!
Absolutely love the anecdotes, always the best part of your stream is when you're just bullshitting on whatever happens to strike your fancy
Oh my god I forgot about NASL sound guy.
Top notch editing by the way. Really looking forward to more of these!
Uncle tasteless and his story tiems. Good content.
Super interesting that you can't cast without being able to hear your own feed. I choke up and can't manage to finish a single sentence when I hear myself echoing through something. Love the stories, Tasteless!
Man, seeing old clips of you casting brings back so many memories. Thank you for all the casts man. I watched because of you and Artosis
I love stories like this, and really, I'd love to see you lift the veil more often on what it's like to actually be a part of the production. The audience never really gets to see or understand all the hamster wheels that make these productions possible, so it's really cool to get to hear the perspective of one of those hamsters.
So true, it's way harder than it looks to balance audio properly and get everything working
Big fan here. I've been following your casts since Heart of the Swarm, and I love your energy and attitude towards casting. It's so light and refreshing! Keep it up dude :)
I would love to see more videos like this in the future.
More stories!!!
Watching the 10 hour long KSL qualifier vods with so-tired-that-drunk Tasteless and Artosis is the best thing ever.
As someone who missed the hay day of StarCraft's popularity by about 8 years, I'd love to hear more stories like this ^^
i think for me and maybe for a lot of people, these kinds of stories are super enjoyable. I love watching SC2 and BW games - but players come and go where as these two casters have been the constant. i just love getting this behind the scenes info. I rewatch things like Day9 daily 100 - the BW remastered launch party - and the BW holiday bash, semi regularly, for this reason. It's fun to hear the stories about the old days. good video man
Who tf are you to make me wait this long to hear kansas-city fried caster stories? Keep them coming.
More stories please! Thank you!
This was awesome. Can’t believe after years of esports you show up to a set up like that. Insane
my worst gig was actually blizzcon finals where the disconnects were happening because there was too much apm for the custom lan client. it was unforseen but so frustrating
I 100% hide the mics and that’s why I am not a credited pro caster.
This was great, thanks! I appreciated all of the old clips edited in
All these pictures and videos with Artosis are so funny and so nostalgic! You guys should make a small video with pictures and clips from across the years! 😄
Great story! More pls!
Every musician has a story just like this
"Where's my foldback?"
"Oh, your keyboard doesn't have speakers? How do you normally hear yourself?"
This was fucking hilarious.
I wonder if this KSL was recorded and is on the internet somewhere lol; I want to see this giant speaker
Best part about esports: progamer putting their cold fish hand on the translator's microphone hand.
This is the sort of content that I would love even released on your podcast channel! Love your stories, love your casting.
wasn't there a pretty bad LAN in the Philippines or something that ended up being a scam and the organizer took all the money and ran?
Awesome vid man! There must be tons of stories from an OG like you. Loved all the throwback shots.
Storytime is good time
I absolutely love the Third Strike and Darkstalkers tracks.
Awesome story and breakdown of how the setup should look like , it's like we were tagging along with you and Tosis to the event :D Looking forward to you guys casting GSL with Dan now from Canada !
Can’t missed any tasteless video with the coolest edit thumbnail ❤and never get bore with tasteless stories 😂more video please
i'd happily listen to your stories all goddamn day if i could. i love fun stories that offer new viewpoints on cool things
I'll ask the question then: although you say you can't remember all the finals that you casted, is there one final that still stands out to this day in your casting career and why ?
Congrats on 20k subs, you deserve way more.
Stories for sure. Been watching since way back when you were doing the GOM classics with the SuperDanielMan.
Can't wait for season 14.
omg i love this

We love you Nick. Please more stories :)
I love these sort of behind the scenes stories
Love the story. It goes to show how much goes into a casters job. Sure you're sitting on the sidelines and we only get to see a fraction of the backend you have to deal with. Great stuff. Please put out some more stories.
props to whoever edited this video - well done
Can’t wait for more of these behind the scenes stories! Thank you for sharing tasteless!

Did those producers not understand the concept of feedback?! Hilarious story!
Cool segment, love it.
Yay! Also please do more of the secret podcast for patreons :)
This was a great story, I'd love to hear more. I've been following you and Dan all through SC2, getting your autograph at MLG Anaheim 10 years ago was awesome. This is funny stuff 😂. I'd watch more for sure. Keep up the great work!
I saw this story live, keep them coming! Thanks Tasteless!
I was this close to spitting out my milk when I heard "this is like if they handed me a zeppelin" LOL
Please keep up the stories!
Love these, please keep the coming. You gotta have a ton of interesting stories from throughout the years and most of us would probably enjoy then.
Good stuff man, keep up the work and I will keep watching.
Keep these stories coming! They're so good
Man this video was great, and cool editing as well to support it, subbed!
Love story time with Nick! Can't wait for more!
Great story, we want more. Tell us about the interactions with the players, friendships
Thank you for attending my tassels talk
that sounds a lot like Blizzard hired the wrong kind of production company to do the sound. Sounds like people who normally set up concerts and are used to musicians who use monitor speakers.
I love Tasteless Story Time
More of this. I've wanted more Tasteless since way before your JP interview ages ago.
Better nate than lever.
yeah this is awesome. you have such a unique view of the scene. and it's a scene where i feel the personalities of the players don't really show through to the audience. more stories please. how about some funny/wacky stories of interactions with some of the sc1 pros?
Editing top notch as usual
Yeah, story time is great! Love to see more of this.
6:13 Sonic air bubble sound effect😀
They don't even have to be game/ casting related.
WHERE ARE THE MICROPHONES TASTELESS!!!!!
