- The Trijicon Sealed Reflex Sight is the biggest, baddest red dot ever made. And when I say "baddest," I of course mean "most bad." It's not surprising it was discontinued, but it is surprising what came afterwards.

I think the "parallax free" is referring to the fact the parallax is free, as apposed to pay 100 dollers extra for it.

Two things. One: I've always been baffled by Trijicon's inability to produce a modern fighting RDS for carbines/rifles, etc. It's...weird. Two: As a future TFB-TV/Hop competition...I'd like you and James to both build the very worst guns (probably ARs for simplicity) you can, and then force each other to take a class/compete with them. Basically your least favourite: grip, barrel, muzzle device, foreend, optic, stock, trigger, etc. Basically assemble the very worst (albeit functional, I suppose) gun to send to each other.
This is genius.
The class is a great touch

I'm pretty sure if it ever failed during a fire fight. You could take it off and throw it as a dummy grenade. It might startle someone.
Nothing to be ashamed of… no other red dot looks as cool on a shotgun as the SRS.
I remember wanting one for exactly that reason back in the day. They could re release this with improvements and it would probably still sell well.

I’ve been waiting for this review and it did not disappoint. I acquired a SRS super cheap not too long ago and was able to sell it for a stupid amount of money and upgraded to a EXPS3 and magnifier for basically nothing

Just last week I rewatched Sicario 2 and noticed Benicio Del Toro had an SRS on his UMP45, I had to look it up because i wasn't sure what monster red dot it was that he was using!
I saw the SRS used in Afghanistan by contractors and OGAs. These are the groups that bought them, and I only saw them on one deployment. So these would be clone correct for an OGA armorer's build.

Finding out that these things sucked was a disappointing day for me. At the time, the features (solar powered red dot?!?) were pretty unique and high tech. I did eventually get that super awesome solar powered red dot (thanks Holosun) but the SRS will always be aesthetically pleasing to me, even if it does actually suck.

My favorite budget red dot in tarkov. I'd buy one irl just bc of that, if it actually was a budget option. It's staggering how expensive these are.
Same story, different game. I put a good amount of time into Medal of Honor Warfighter multiplayer and the SRS was my goto optic. Always wanted one but couldn't bear the price tag

I didn’t realize the adjustable RMRs came out in ‘12. I just figured they were always there. I remember the T2 coming out.
I still have a first gen MRO, bought right when they came out. It’s odd trijicon has bad luck red dots, excluding the RMR.
I love my MRO haha. I don’t get the hate.

I bought a china clone for airsoft like 8 years ago for $40 bucks... no parallax issues lol. of course it rusted out an killed itself 2 years later and I didn't have an AR back then but its funny how the parallax on a $40 clone is better then the real thing
I’ve had various airsoft scopes too and I often wonder are these replicas produced in the same factory that makes the legit version. I’ve a repro Trijicon Acog, an Elcan Spectre with a functional 1-4x zoom both several years old and still rocking along

A local store in Los Angeles was clearing out the knob version new for $375 back in 2017. I wanted to jump on it but was strapped at the time.

I have a 2,000’s serial number SRS. It’s terrible but I’m never going to sell it. It’s by far and away the coolest looking red dot to hit the market imo, and nothing else matters.

Not sure whether I have the Gen 1 or 2 SRS, but I definitely don’t have the geometric pattern. Instead, I have an aggressively large sun spot when facing into the sun, and under NV the glass almost looks like it’s slightly glowing around the dot itself unlike the CompM5 I messed with.
The SRS sucks, and the only reason I have it is for the novelty. But in the world of mailbox optics, I could see an SRS reboot with updated/less shitty problems (if Trijicon wanted to innovate).
Also, unlike the RMR adjustable which immediately responds to button presses, I have to hold the SRS buttons for a half second before the brightness changes.
Mine is in the SN range of 6500 and does not have the circuitry reflection issue. Definitely still has bad parallax tho

Can't speak on the Trijicon.
I love how Trijicon makes one of the best handgun optics money can buy, even though it's an ancient product that's been unchanged for almost 20 years. But they cake terrible rifle dots.

Hop needs to get his hands on a gen 2 tripower, discontinued in 2009. It is an anomaly because it is a great red dot, very low tint and distortion, little to no parralax, the tripower system works good, and somehow all their newer dots have these issues. Works great under nods as well!

I too got sucked into buying a MRO when they first came out. It’s relegated to my 8” 9mm PCC which is only a fun gun for me.
Literally a month after I got interested in the Beretta Cheetah model 84 and started watching them on GunBroker, James dropped a video on TFB TV, espousing the 84BB variant as the only 'Fudd' Beretta (not his exact words, but you get the idea) he would consider for CCW. It took about a year before people forgot about this (thank you, ADHD), and prices actually started to come down enough that I scored an excellent example about 3 months ago at well below James Reeves ("I know what I got!!!") prices. This time, however, you have convinced me this thing is a total piece of shit at any price, so now I'll just be monitoring these on GunBroker out of a sense of morbid curiousity.
It's totally bulky and heavy and that's why i like it, drip over practicality.

I have one of these that I bought well over 12 years ago. My SCAR-17 ate it for breakfast after about 10 shots, the dot is permanently stuck in one of the corners. Never registered it with Trijicon so it's been a paper weight for the past 8 years.

I sold my SRS last year. It wasn’t good. It went back to Trijicon 4 times to be repaired before they finally replaced it with a new one. Of course selling it was a nightmare. Sounds like you got a gen 1 like mine. They fixed the reflection issues with liquid electrical tape painted over the board the dots soldered too.

Is that James Reeves is the SRS of TFB TV.
The off axis thing comes into play more, in less than ideal circumstances. When you are on the back foot as it were. On a static range, you will not really see much benefit.
It’s why I prefer the Comp sized RDS over the T2 sized. But I use both, and all in all the difference isn’t huge, just noticeable. I do a couple drills that put me in compromised positions, to simulate when things go wrong.
I had an early SRS and was able to run it solely on the solar cell.

I actually had one of those. Weirdly, a completely fine optic...but...yeah, more or less pointless. Quality and function was really good on mine. Just pointlessly heavy/large, etc. Didn't do much that my subsequent T1 didn't do better.
Quality optics can cost as much as or even more than a quality rifle

Little known fact: “Lax” is short for Ex-Lax. Therefore Parallax is actually for “Pair of Lax” meaning Trijicon didn’t give two shits.
