Hey @Sjin, got a bit of a tip for you. When it comes to visitors at the tavern you can get them to stay longer if you really want to hire them but need the stuff to do so by feeding them. If you right click them with any food item in your hands you'll feed it to the guest who will then tell you they will stay longer in the chat

Tips. When you go to rally your guards, do so in your colony, that way your guards will gather up and follow you before you run out to find the raiders. Otherwise your guards will be all spread out and take longer to find their way to your location. Your carpenter, when taught the recipe for timber frames, will be able to make any of the variations on that particular block. However, producers like the carpenter will often wait around till all the materials for an order are delivered, which can sometimes take a while if your couriers are extremely busy. Sometimes if you go into your Builder's requests and cancel the request, it will reset the order and clear up any hangups your couriers or carpenter are having. Alternatively, you can put the materials directly into the carpenter's inventory yourself and they will usually start working then. Also, make sure it's the right type of timber frame you've taught them how to make. There's variations for basically every combination of wood, stone, and paper, and the carpenter needs a recipe for each one you'll need.
You will also need a stone smeltery to cook cobble into stone, it seems like a huge waste of research time for something so little, but apparently it does other brick types, terracotta, and charcoal. Doesn't sound very useful at this point since you can do these things yourself for now, but eventually you may want to add a level 2-3 stone smeltery (leveling up increases how many furnaces they have), this way the automation wont be held back be simply smelting stone. BTW to do this you need your regular smeltery to be level 3. Also, in case you forgot, the tavern only has 3 levels, so you basically just upgraded it to the equivalent of level 5, that's why it's asking for glazed terracotta.
3! I said this on your other video, put a dirt block inside the basement door on Alyssa's hut, it stops her from constantly going down the stairs and will pull from racks while above ground! Love the videos Sjin

You should create multiple rally banners and create section guards eg a southern task force for southern raids, western task force for western raids etc, this would allow you to call instead of all your guards to you, a small and fast force capable of defending the colony without leaving your colonists vulnerable and undefended

Sjin, you should look up how to make a vanilla Iron farm; it's a little bit of a pain in the butt, but infinite iron is pretty worth it, especially since you will eventually have to further and further afield to find iron in your mines.

three wide stairs made of some kind of stone with wood on the sides will make the colonists much better at navigating them. also, think about exchanging stairs for slabs, because they are better at navigating them.
Don't forget about the clipboard! Very helpful for keeping track of what citizens want including the builders and any tools any workers want instead of running around to each individual person.
thats some nice create doing sjin, maby you can add some water wheals as decorations. say you could actuly if you go further into create you can add crushers in the future and mack like a real medival windmill. oh and a small selfbuild bakery, maby you can let Strawfinger work ther.

To prevent shortages of important things like food, just go to the building menu and make it so it retains at least a stack (or threeeeee) of said resource.
You set the tavern to hold cooked food, like baked potato not the normal one. But you need to set normal potato at farm so the farmer will have something to plant
Well Sjin, You got one out of (3) three Building Upgraded in the video. and got your Windmill spinning good. Next video are you planning more upgrades. (i.e. Town Hall, Guard Towers, Houses, Etc...) Do you have all three types of Guards in the colony yet (I.e Archer, Druid, & Knight?) FYI Druids are the combat healers for the Colony. Maybe upgrade the barrack to a higher level and get another barracks guard tower going. What three Create Machines are you going to power off the windmill ?
To fix the farmer all you need to do is set their minimum stock to 1 stack of carrots and 1 stack of potatoes at their work block, you should also put their tools in the minimum stock list for all the colonists who use tools so the blacksmith makes tools premtevely instead of just sitting pretty doing nothing all day.
If you wanted to keep the 'Fort' in the name of the building, you could abbreviate it: "Ft. Crappington" or "Ft Crappington2 would have just fit the cutoff. Oh well, maybe when you make Fort Crappington *3*...
inspired me to do something similar, though I have taken a pause on the colony to build a iron farm from create so that I can start creating iron armor for me guards before I build the barracks, 3

What you could do is build scafoldings for building purposes... Please for the Love of Arceus fix the stairs & replace them with Slabs... Also put some fence around the barracks & the stairs. Ur colonists do take fall damage... For the food problem u could askthe Cook to cook Pam's Harvest Craft recipes but beware the cook doesnot make baked food like bread & cake
You should use the clipboard more! Not only does it show what the builders require at the moment, but also what other colonists are missing (like the farmer's axe)
Kinda wish you could slow the main windmill down some, i imagine a idyllic town thats a little slow and happy area and the windmill makes it feel super fast.
Hey Sjin! What did you edit to increase the amount of logs you can chop down in the FallingTrees mod? Just started Better Minecraft this past weekend. Also, anyone know a fix for Exit Code 1 crash when putting Optifine into Better Minecraft?
It's a good thing you didnt use the superglue, as it manages to tank your FPS like crazy. If I got it right, its creating constant updates, hence a lot of contraptions using superglue in a small location will create more lag then wanted. Just a windmill shouldn't impact much, especially if you're using the radial/liniar chassis :) The build tool could be kept in stock over at the Carpenter, so it doesnt get removed. (Im not sure if it ever gets collected by the couriers tho, so this could be excessive) The thing about the boots is correct, it scales with the rarity. None>Leather>Gold>Iron>Diamond(>Netherite?) if I'm correct.
Pretty sure you're rallying the guards to yourself, as in they try to follow you & not the location you used the banner in specifically. That's why they stopped Rallying once you left the colony's borders.

A good tip for over full wear houses is make your cook use more items for fuel and other places so that way the wear house does not get over stocked.

Sail blocks don't need glue to be attached, any block on the windmill and the sail blocks will stick to that block on their own.
upgrading a hut increases it's crafting recipes by double every time
