I have a huge tip for you for when you get the stonesmelter built, due to it using furnaces it's slow and even tho it adds 1 furnace per level it still slow for on demand usage, so for things like bricks, stone, charcoal and terracotta you want to go into the warehouse and on the minimum stock tab keep 2-4 stacks and the stonesmelter will keep the warehouse stocked with these so you have a buffer for when you build/upgrade buildings rather then waiting. Also the stone mason can use the bricks for slate shingles and ROCK & ROLL etc just not making bricks, a suggestion for you is to use charcoal for fuel cause it has a higher burntime then planks and it will take pressure off your couriers since they will restock buildings less often
We usually just cal them 'rubber boots', 'rain boots', or sometimes 'field boots' if they're the heavy duty ones meant for working in the mud. But more tips! The Blacksmith and Stonemason become a lot more useful once you have a Smelter and Stone Smelter as well, since both buildings will require a lot of smelted items. It's a good idea to make sure you set your Stonemason keeps a stack of stone and cobblestone in stock, that way they won't always have to wait for your couriers to deliver materials before they can craft the blocks you need. Same thing with your Blacksmith, though in their case, make sure they stock cobble, iron ingots, and sticks. Your Smelter will usually work automatically without needing much input or waiting on requests, as he will always be asking for smeltable ores to be delivered. However, keep in mind that some modded ores may not appear on his list (noticed that some of the modded copper ores he won't recognize). The Stone Smelter, however, waits till there's a request for blocks before he'll start working, so it's a good idea to make sure he keeps a stack of materials on hand. Also, your Stone Smelter can also convert logs into charcoal for fuel, so it's a good idea to have him working on charcoal whenever he's not currently smelting stone. Your Blacksmith makes all vanilla tools, as well as armor and most other items mainly made out of metal that don't involve redstone (such as iron bars, hoppers, and anvils). This includes stone tools despite them not using metal. You will have to teach him the recipes though. Keep in mind, when you teach a Blacksmith a new recipe, it'll go to the bottom of his list, but when he gets a request to build a tool or armor that will accept different levels (such as when a request says minimum quality wood, max quality iron) they will make whatever item appears first on their list, so move the better recipes to the top of their list if you want them building the best tools and armor for your workers.
Truly, I want to thank every single commenter, and Sjin of course. I have learned so much from all of you. In this crazy world, it is grand to see such community and mutual support. Whilst this is "just a game", I feel the creativity, community and plain old FUN is just what we all need. May we all keep on Rocking and Rolling... in our Muck Boots!
This colony is 100% rock and roll. I’m always excited when a new episode comes out. This is my favorite series. Keep up the good work, I love the series. But please, don’t overwork yourself, if you need to take some personal time, I think we’d all understand. Stay healthy and happy, because that will make better videos in the long run
With the blacksmith set up, and all the colonists tooled up, it looks like New Kingdom is finally ready to rock n roll! Can't wait to see that in-mountain cave city!! I love your cave designs, and the details that can be engraved into the deep walls. Really looking forward to that!
A rock and roll episode as always Sjin :) The stone mason can also learn the recipes for all the stone tools. The blacksmith quickly gets it's recipe slots filled up, so it might be more efficient to let the stone mason handle that job. You colonists will request the best material tools, that their hut level allows, but should you by chance run out of it, they will automatically default back to the next available material on the list. My miner almost exclusively uses stone pickaxes, despite iron and diamond being available. I'm guessing it's to not waste precious resources on simple mining when their block break speed is not augmented by the material of the tool, but only by stats and research.
Rock and Roll! :P I definately recommend building a new house or two, and another builder's hut. Now that you have the ability to get higher level peeps from the Tavern i would also keep an eye out for new peeps and better peeps to replace your peeps with for maximum efficiency. I'm absolutely loving the series so far. Keep up the good work, Sjin
Rock & Roll! here in southeast Missouri along the mighty Mississippi river we call them swamp boots. if they go above the waist then we call them waders (way-ders) wader name comes from the term to wade out into water.
dont know if you know this already, but you don't need to set which builder does what. if you leave the builder selection blank, they will go onto the next build on the list that they can build (based on builders hut level and distance to build from the hut (they can go max 100 blocks)
he knows it, he explained in a previous video that he's doing it this way cause of the Alternative builders hut, when the builder takes stuff out of it's storage it will walk to the storage and back to the builders hut block one stack at a time it takes ages for big builds like the university while for the cave style builders hut the storage and hut block are next to each other
Quick Tip: Crusher's Hut is used to get sand from gravel & clay from sand which is very help full for upgrading buildings to higher levels. The reason why Queen Decoy is taking a while is the Level 3 Tavern is equivalent to any other Level 5 Building. Request Pickup from builders to make them go faster.
Yeah, it's time to rock and roll! Sjin, if you think that the level 3 sort function is a game-changer, wait until you hit level 5 with your warehouse. For three blocks of emerald, you can actually upgrade the storage racks to double their capacity. So, not only will you have the greatest number of racks that you'll have, but each one holds even more than before. Also, when you get your smeltery leveled up, you'll get ore doubling and then tripling, so that's one worth putting energy into sooner rather than later!
The town is looking GREAT!!! You've definitely cleaned this place up quite a bit. And you are very close to full automation, you definitely need to get the research for more citizens fast, then you just need a cow and sheep herder, stone smelter, and the florist (I'm pretty sure those are all tier 2 research) and later getting the dyer, mechanic, concrete mixer, glassblower, and fletcher (mechanic is one of the last ones you'll get most likely) Obviously there is no rush to get a glassblower or any of those bigger crafters yet, but at least the first four will definitely "ease congestion" From the wiki: The Mechanic’s Hut is where the Mechanic will craft redstone items, rails, minecarts, clocks, compasses, sea lanterns, torches, lanterns, jack-o-lanterns, storage blocks (like blocks of iron, coal, quartz, etc), dried kelp blocks, blue ice, packed ice, enchantment tables, ender chests, tripwire hooks, sticky pistons, gates, multi-pistons, glowstone blocks, anything made with blaze rods, and many other items that no other crafter can make. ^So you can see it's not super important to rush to the end game crafter huts. Most things a Mechanic can craft is stuff you will have to make yourself for quite a while. On that note, the Crusher and the Sifter aren't essential crafters (in fact I don't even think the sifter can technically "craft" anything just sift through dirt, sand, gravel, or soul sand to get random loot), they are basically just professions that can do random stuff that may or may not be helpful (it's a lotto depending on your gameplay style) Also, I love the idea of having more cave buildings and tunnels leading throughout town, however I think you should consider the redesign of the cave style by LadyShatana called cavern. It is more detailed with (somewhat) less blocky buildings. From the mcguide page -> "This set is a complete from the ground up redesign, and is replacing Cave entirely." so I'm pretty sure that the schematics will be replaced in the files however, since there is still a builder's hut placed in the building it will stay at level 3 and the building shouldn't disappear of anything, but if you try to upgrade the hut it will mess up because the schematic no longer exists and will either just not work or will assign a different style. Keep in mind you can personally change the style of any building in the build options menu. Before I forget, ROCK AND ROLL!! and sorry for the essay of a comments again
Mechanic makes stuff like pressure plates, redstone repeaters, pistons and the like. Anything that could work in a vanilla contraption is likely to be made there. A crusher makes gravel from cobble and sand from gravel, for example. There are some extra recipes in there, but those are the main goal. Its another dump for excess cobblestone~ Dont forget that the stonemason makes the special Structurize blocks that need any kind of stone. Some of the recipes can also be taught to multiple different buildings. Keep up the rocking and rolling my dude~! (Also, I'd love to give you some voicelines should you'd like)
I love the good sound of Rock and Roll. Great video perusal, I have learned so much about minecolonies and plan on doing a mod pack of my own soon. thank you Sjin.
The stonemason can also take prismarine shards from the fisher's hut and make prismarine blocks, nether components for nether blocks, and ender mats for End blocks. The mechanic can make lamps, including sealamps from the prismarine the fisher fishes up.
And you forgot to add more research to be done at the end Sir ! Never forget that or you will stop with your Rock and Roll. Also now when you have basic automation you can also maybe make armors for your guards. But the Doc is probably the only you might want to keep an eye on . Kelp farm maybe ?
Rolk and rocl! My favorite minecolony build of mine was a keep in a mountain. I mostly used the cave templates but I put a facade in front of the buildings to make it look better
High rubber boots are called "Støvler" in Norwegian, allways had to use them as a child when it was bad weather and i hated them every time, Rock and Roll Sjin, you are the best !
over here we call wellies "gumaky" which would translate to "rubberies" :D if you want to build more caves underneath the fort just make sure they are deep enough as when you level up barracks they also get underground storages, jails and other stuff...rock'n'roll!
Rock and Roll Maybe you can do something with the couriers so the Pam's crops and Aquaculture fish can only go to the restaurant so you can actually use them
In New Zealand we call them gumboots. We have a song about them. "If it weren't for your gumboots, where would you be? You'd be in the hospital or in A'nE" (A'nE stands for Accidents and Emergencies.) It's a weird little song that seems to pop into most kiwi's minds when they hear the word gumboots.
We have rain boots but those tend to be smaller rubber boots, and waders which is a catch all for big rubber boots up to essentially boots and overalls combined.
Sjin I got an idea, what would happened if strawfingers escaped and destroyed your colony and you start a fresh but with the mindset of war and nothing but war. So a lot of forts, castles. Defensive and offensive to. I love your videos keep up the amazing work
If you move your guards from the towers to the barracks, it will free up colonist slots as the barracks houses them, where as the towers still require a house in town
Sjin, here's an important tip for teaching recipes, do not cause recipe loop, for example if you teach the iron ingots to iron block to the mechanic, and iron block to iron ingots recipe to the blacksmith, then whenever there is a request for some iron ingots or iron blocks, they will just go through the two recipes over and over again, and never deliver the items.
in the southern USA we just call "Wellington boots" rubber boots... funny thing about rubber boots is that i heavily associate them with my uncle as he pretty much lives in them on his swampy farm out in the country.

A team of great dwarves once said, "ROCK AND STONE" and everyone lived happily ever after.
Rock and stone, brother!

"I just found 12 bricks" What a reference!
Keep Rocking and Rolling Sjin!
12? On the side

Loved your little side rant about Kings fighting in wars. You are absolutely right in what you were getting at though xD
Hi Sjin. You can reset the banners on the university by breaking them by hand and replacing them. Rock and roll to check if you see this :P
This colony looks amazing I love how alive it is, and poor ol Strawfingers... he is not looking all that rock and roll himself at the moment.

We got to rock on with this play through Rock and Roll Sjin, Rock and Roll!
1st time watching one of the video of the serie on computer and not on TV sooooo Rock & Roll !
Rock and stone! Can’t wait to see how the rest of the series turns out.
If you build the crusher's hut, please hire a colonist called wesley to work in it 👍
rock and roll, and the whole colony is on a roll with automation, which is lovely
I love the good sound of Rock and Roll. Great video perusal, I have learned so much about minecolonies and plan on doing a mod pack of my own soon. thank you Sjin.
What a Rock and Roll episode! Don't forget to a better colonies for your dwarf to smelt it's way to automation!

High rubber boots are called "Støvler" in Norwegian, allways had to use them as a child when it was bad weather and i hated them every time, Rock and Roll Sjin, you are the best !
I figured Sjin would be the Governor rather than the Mayor, but it's really whichever way you rock and roll with it.
As the stonemason celebrates his new shop opening the Gathering people can hear he yelling ROCK N ROLL BABY !!!!!
Rock n Roll, the blacksmith might collide with the first when it gets bigger
Listening to rock is so much better with a cup of tea and a Swiss roll!
Another great video Sjin
You could always see about stashing a small quarry right in the mountain side behind the stonemasons hut
Solid idea
@@sjin Rock and Roll my dude

I've always called wellies "waders" or "rubber boots." Keep rock and rolling!
Rock and roll Sjin! Gonna have to start playing Pink Floyd around your colony.
Rock and Roll
Maybe you can do something with the couriers so the Pam's crops and Aquaculture fish can only go to the restaurant so you can actually use them
Awesome job again! Rock and roll right through your tasks!
We call them Wellies here in Chicago or just rainboots. Rock & Roll! 🙃🙂
Rock and Roll Sjin! your colony is looking awesome!
This series is pretty "Rock and Roll"
In New Zealand we call them gumboots. We have a song about them.
"If it weren't for your gumboots, where would you be? You'd be in the hospital or in A'nE"

It's a weird little song that seems to pop into most kiwi's minds when they hear the word gumboots.
Haha, sweet as, we call A and E the same thing over here in the UK
We call the rain boots "regenlaarzen" in Holland . ROCK AND ROLL
We have rain boots but those tend to be smaller rubber boots, and waders which is a catch all for big rubber boots up to essentially boots and overalls combined.
Rock and roll dude
12:00 God Emperor of the colony

I love shin he is so rock n roll!!!!
We just call them Rain Boots here in the US, We also have Waders for fishing!
Rock & Roll !!!
Sjin's life is pure rock n' roll now with a pupper
Ya like rock and roll Sjin? Bring back the mullet 🤘
I have played the drums for 10+ years so rock and roll is my bread and butter
This was quite the rock and roll episode here
we built this colony on rock and roll
This episode slaps hard like a great Rock and Roll riff
I haven't followed a series like this in. A long time
In Australia we have gum boots. Of course, being an English prison colony, there are lots of people who use the term Wellingtons/Wellies
Straw fingers doesn't need sleep!
He needs revenge over some vague wrong!
Enjoying the series, rock and roll!
If you move your guards from the towers to the barracks, it will free up colonist slots as the barracks houses them, where as the towers still require a house in town
Glad to have you back bestie
Sjin, here's an important tip for teaching recipes, do not cause recipe loop, for example if you teach the iron ingots to iron block to the mechanic, and iron block to iron ingots recipe to the blacksmith, then whenever there is a request for some iron ingots or iron blocks, they will just go through the two recipes over and over again, and never deliver the items.
That's a good tip
in the southern USA we just call "Wellington boots" rubber boots... funny thing about rubber boots is that i heavily associate them with my uncle as he pretty much lives in them on his swampy farm out in the country.
Love your episodes! they are always so rock and roll!
I really love this series! It's real rock n roll! ❤
Imagine if Britain went into a war with The Queen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and all the other knights on horseback leading the charge. Absolute Rock & Roll
Rock an Roll was great they said but the stone mason just gets out of bed.
Enjoyed the episode 👌 and also "Rock and Roll" can't wait to see what you do next.
In Australia, at least around me we call those boots Gum Boots.
They got the nickname due to being made from rubber or gum rubber as the original Wellingtons were made from leather.
Rock and Roll on... This series is fab :)
This clip was rockin and rollin, rock and roll ! xD
I used those boots all the time growing up and we always called them muck boots, since that's a brand of boot, either that or just boots.
Rock and roll? more like ROCK AND STONE, BROTHER!
Rock and roll baby! 🤘
Rocking and Rolling there Mr Sjin.
Sjin, you have been Rockin and Rollin through this mod! its great to watch. Can't wait to see what comes next, any interest in videos on other games too?
I heard from a friend of a friend who's a colonist (not naming as they wish to remain anonymous) that the colonists have bestowed you the title of "Sjin the Precursor, he who farted his way from a far off land to help ours flourish, tamer of dragons, and architect of kingdoms"
Cactus Jack just refers to you as the "curse-breaker"
We call the rubber boots either "a farmer's boots" or "rain boots", depends on the size and coulor. The black ones are farmer's boots
i feel like the only sensible thing to name the stone mason is the Hard Rock workshop. they play some really cool Rock & Roll there.
In America we have boots like that but we also have these things called Waders which allow you to stand almost waist deep in still water. Most people who wear them are fishing or in cranberry farms.
Those big rubber boots that are waterproof is called “Phua Chu Kang boots” here in Singapore!

Awsome vid, nearly caught up and liking everyone for that youtube algorithm. Your rockin it! Keep rolling on you amazing creator:)
