I have a 2004 330 Xi which has the same dash display as your BMW. The yellow oil light means your oil is low, when it first appears the light will go out once the oil does heat up. Eventually the light will not go out. As long as it’s yellow you’re “ok” but you should add oil. If it goes red add oil immediately. The older 3 series BMW’s seem to burn a little oil over time so you’ll see the light every now and then. Just add about 1/2 quart and it should go out.
There is a blue-haired lady just dying to purchase that former police cruiser. When are you going to get some curb feelers on it, and send her on down the road Randy?
One is yellow which means oil level is low. And the other one is red meaning oil pressure issue. What I normally see with this is if you have a yellow light that comes on then goes out its an issue with your oil level sensor and needs to be replaced. If its red then you need pressure sensor or engine.
12:19 my theory is that the windows cracked from the air pressure when the bags blew. They're laminated not toughened so that kind of concussive force more likely damaged them, plus the way they seal means they're not supported from being pushed outwards. Note how most of the cracking is toward the bottoms like they were pushed out.
Oh yes that powerstroke was one to walk from IMO. The reduced engine power thing isn't so much a worry, it can be as simple as low DEF or a glow plug but what really bothered me was how damn oily that thing was all over. '08 at 150k shouldn't look that bad unless it's been abused to hell and back plus the oil filler looked like it was drilled for some reason. Maybe excess crankcase pressure (hence oil everywhere) but any vehicle with a problem "solved" by drilling a hole need avoided!
another great video! I've always loved the carnage parts myself. Like you, I always see a carnage car/truck/suv weather it be at a junk yard or a tow truck, or one of your videos, and always try to think/picture what actually happened. Also as i've said before its great to see how well some of the newer vehicles actually hold up/withstand such crazy impact to where the body/car itself looks horrible and demolished, but the inside where passengers and driver would be are untouched minus airbags and safety equipment. but the fact that people actually walk away from those wrecks is awesome. shows how well cars are made now a days compared to back in the old days and even up to the early 2000s. Keep the carnage and if people get butthurt about it, they can fast forward through it. Not sure if thats why you stopped the carnage shots or not but whatever, glad to see it back even if they arent the worst of the worst. You and monkey wrench Mike are a great duo lol.. Go with the GTI or the Mercedes, both would make awesome content for sure!! I love watching your videos. I go between you and Hoovies Garage every couple days! congrats on the 200k subscribers, forgot to mention it when it happened! Been working a lot so trying to catch up on the content, i barley have time to watch so idk how you manage to video, work, edit and everything else you do as well lol. Much love from the south side of Chicago man!
If you look at the coolers at 15:11, you can see the top is crushed on one of them. Very odd seeing as there are undamaged ones in front of it and behind it. Makes me wonder if it had been in a previous accident and that one wasn't replaced at the time
Mike and carnage in one video haha :) nice, to me it didn't look like it hit a tree the trunk was too straight, maybe it got rear ended hard and then drifted off into a pole or something? And that song in the headphones was that 5FDP full circle?
Hi Randy. I am a former employee of Kia Motors, Toyota and more recently, Honda Corporate as well as Carfax corporate. My whole life has been centered around cars but my most proud passion is safety! Getting to tour the IIHS was amazing. What I will tell you, yes Kias do have a great warranty however can not recommend, even the newer ones. Toyota/Lexus absolutely no complaints. After owning several myself, even while I was with Kia's Regional Office, never had any problems. As a real life example for you, Kia has 1 Field Technical Representative for about four states. Toyota has about 12 per area. Honda, good company but actually some quality issues, little more than Toyota. What I do want to make note of as I don't take it lightly, I am all about the history of older cars but the sad reality is they are not safe. Even cars we think would be don't have the essential safety features like side and knee air bags, but the overall structures will completely collapse. Even older pick up trucks we think of as indestructible, watch the videos. There have been some controversies going on in the safety industry and I can tell you that Ford rigged its crash test for the Ford F150 crew cab vs the extended cab, knowing the crew can would be the one being tested, as it's the most popular model. Please people do your research on safety and actually look at the crash test videos. Also, as we all probably know, the Carfax report is not always accurate and it was the worst company I have ever worked for. If you question the report, they will not tell you where they got their actual information from. Most of it was confidential and was acquired from data sharing via parts warehouses and companies. We were not allowed to disclose anything, even if it was a mistake and the owner was trying to verify it. Total loss info we could verify but damage and some accident info, we could not. Billions of records. Shady, shady company. Be well and I really enjoy your videos. Currently rocking a sometimes crappy Jeep but my fave car I've had was my 08 Lexus ES. So reliable and good in the snow! Enjoy all!
84 and 85 380 engines have the double row chain. However, it is not a bad idea to change the tensioner. Old tensioners leak down overnight and the chain slaps around for the first few seconds on cold start-up.
Yup, this is why having s messy car full of unsecured objects is a bad idea. They become lethal projectiles on the event of a collision. Throw 'em in the trunk!
I had an ‘02 Trailblazer with the I6 and it went into reduced engine power, aka limp mode because the throttle body was going out. It’s the trucks way of limiting power to reduce the chance of catastrophic engine failure. It’ll allow you to limp out of harms way before a tow.
I L O V E D the carnage but really liked the really bad carnage cars as i said when you stooped posting, i think your doing a service to people like my father did for me when he took me as a kid to tow yards to show me carnage cars so it made a impression. Im 45 now and i have NEVER been in an accident as im more cautious than most people as those wrecked cars stick in my mind. Its a GOOD thing to see things like that.(things you NEVER want to happen to you) Life inst perfect and people get hurt if you don't watch what your doing. Keep up the great work Randy, I have seen EVERY one of your videos and think your channel is the best.
On the E46, the dancing rpm's are due to a sticky idle control valve. You can acces it by removing the throttle body (4 bolts) and the Disa needs to be taken off. The ICV is held on by a bracket, using 2 10mm bolts.
Three things for ya: 1. Loved having Monkey Wrench Mike with you! 2. Randy:"This would be the only one I could afford [Subaru WRX]" Also Randy:"I was honestly debating a P100D for the wife last night" 3. That Subie picked a fight with a semi by the looks of it....
As far as that 380 sl goes. We have one in the family that has about 200k on it. They are a 3.8l v8, ours is a 83 model, throttle body fuel injected runs and drives good, just gotta use 93 octane fuel.
I'm okay with you showing some carnage on this channel, provided there is no blood or guts involved. It was great to see "Monkey Wrench Mike" join you on this walk around. He seem to be very knowledgeable about these vehicles, and expresses himself well, without being profane.
Carnage is fascinating to me. We get to see the science and engineering that goes into making the cars as safe as they are today. Would like to see a bit more of it
Hey Randy how did you end up get in the BMW to start because the video of you fixing the manifolds it wasn't starting so just curious what was the conclusion
On that Maserati I bet since those windows don't clear without going down some the force from the impact hit the glass on the edge weak point Tint or lamination kept it intact.
Randy, the golf 6 GTI has the 2.0 TSI engine and indeed a timing chain, no belt. The problem these engines have is that the oil scrape piston rings where too short (2nd generation from 2008 had this issue) to achieve less resistance, and therefore low CO2 values. Only this can lead to extreme oil consumption, and even engine failure, there are enough topics on the internet with the explanation. In fact, just the design of the engine is not that good. The timing chain was less sensitive than with the 1.4 TSI engine (they didn't sell the 1.4 in the US), but you do hear about problems with the camshaft adjusters. So, if you can't get here this thing running, it would be a big gamble. But the parts a worth a fortune. So it's still worth the risk in my option.
Okay here’s the gist. Vw and Audi use the same 2.0t and yes all 2.0t from 09 to 19 use the timing chain. The reason for the plastic cover, I have no idea but other than you should get the GTI.
Randy as I said about the red GTi from last week, mk6 golf GTi uses chain driven on the tsi engines. But the cam chain tensioners on pre 2012 cars can fail. 👍
Not usually failing on 2.0 engines, however can be easily changed with the chain - problem solved. These are great little cars and this engine is a really good one - in production over a decade - pretty much the same what goes into todays GTIs and Rs models
Martin Mikula 2009,2010 tsi engines are well known for this failure which results in bent valves and a new engine. VAG did the first revision to the tensioner in 2011 and then again in 2012. So unless the engine or the car is a 2012 or newer, assume on upgrading the tensioner and you may as well do the chain and guides if you are doing that job. 1.4tsi engines up to about 2012 are also very prone to failure too. I know they are great cars as I have a 2011 mk6 GTi dsg. 👍😎
The oil light turning on like that at startup means bad oil sensing unit on bottom on oil pan. Pretty easy to fix
Could mean low on oil too.
MORE CARNAGE!!! MORE CARNAGE!!! YES!!!

Wow your E46 sounds INSANE!
That BMW had already been started the temp gauge went a third of the way up the second he started it

The SL has Mike's name written al over it. great summer car for him and Lola!
Always a pleasure to see Mike on the channel. :)
János Tolnai Thank you!!
Yellow oil light: this means the oil sensor is broken. its right where the oilpan is. I paid 180€ thats about $160 i think
That's more like 200$
Oil level sensor it’s only like 80
you could also find one on ebay for ~15$
Youre missing Weird Beard.. Completes the trifecta or the Trinity. 😇.
I would like to see the VW GTI fixed Randy. 🙏.
The Yellow Oil Light means, Low Oil Level or Potentially a Oil Level Sensor Fault.
You and Mike make a great team.
Wade Palmer thanks Wade!
Well i'm glad to see the BMW running again but i'm confused as to what was wrong with the starting ?
Always happy to see you and Monkey Wrench Mike! Makes for great content! And this means 2 more videos with him! GTI might be ok....
Richard Kafka thanks!!
There is a blue-haired lady just dying to purchase that former police cruiser. When are you going to get some curb feelers on it, and send her on down the road Randy?

Hot Tuesday! The team is back.

Hey Randy. Congratulations! On 200 K subs!! Incredible!!
Hi Maria. Im doin fine. Cold and lotsa snow U.P. in Mi. Love AAR videos, following Randy's journey.
The f250 was saying low engine power because of your empty tank! Still think that would be a good truck.
Ooooo that Merc. I love it.

I love seeing CARNAGE!!
Thanks Randy and Mike. Great video.

on the F150 - "oklahoma edition" and other similar badging always indicate dealer dress-up packages to sell cars and never factory issued.
Good chance on the 6.4 reduce power is from when it got repo I'm sure they kept the tuner and returned it to stock with emissions being deleted
yay Mike is back!

Please buy that Mercedes SL!!! It will be an excellent project and well worth the money!
Reduced engine power means that it has less fuel so it saves more fuel then before right?
The 380 sl is a survivor. Love to see you bring it back to life
We don’t miss it. Carnage

The handle in the tailgate goes with the step. It has a 2 or 3 step that is in the tailgate.
Ty for bringing back the carnage

Monkey Wrench Mike absolutely! Now get back to that bummer Beamer:p
hey randy the reduced engine power means its out of def fluid and the ratling is possibly the fan hitting something
When you to are together, you can count on a good time. Keep this pair together it works.
I've been to Oklahoma twice in my life time, both of which I went to Frontier City. One word, SMALL, but pretty freaking epic
GTI have a timing chain, cool car!

Love the vids man
On the Ford super duty, reduced power means it is low on DEF fluid.
Jim Riddle yeah since 6.4s totally use def fluid 😂😂
No DEF on ‘08
The tailgate also has a stair in it it's right in the middle I don't know how to open it though
I don't have an issue with Carnage coz I can skip through ,Just makes watching quicker. Gives me time to watch some other channels .
Love these copart walkarounds. Only yours though.
Reduced engine power is usually a simple solution of adding def if it has a dpf system
Carnage is fascinating to me. We get to see the science and engineering that goes into making the cars as safe as they are today. Would like to see a bit more of it
380SL known for timing chain issues. If it is just bad gas/empty, you can get it to start and you can get it for
in the nose of the teslan there should be an extra Battery as well. but then I don't know which year model of teslan has it
Look at all those indicators in that dash cluster
Hey Randy how did you end up get in the BMW to start because the video of you fixing the manifolds it wasn't starting so just curious what was the conclusion
Just picked up some of the Buick GS parts from the machine shop 😎😁😁😁😁
On that Maserati I bet since those windows don't clear without going down some the force from the impact hit the glass on the edge weak point Tint or lamination kept it intact.
Diesel with DEF. If the DEF level is low, it will cut down the power until you put some in. Or am I wrong about this?
Air bags broke the windows
Maybe the GTI. Try to find one in a salvage yard for the parts.
Randy, the golf 6 GTI has the 2.0 TSI engine and indeed a timing chain, no belt.
