I spent 39 years working on the SIO campus and retired in 2003 never returning. Very little is now recognizable to me. I was on the administrative committee that recommended that pedestrian bridge over La Jolla Shores Dr. back, way back then. Glad to observe the safety fencing and plants along the pathway above the dangerous cliff near the Martin Johnson House; a man plunged to his death in late 1976 from getting too close to the edge. Oh. And that 8755 street address on the Eckart Bldg. was something I randomly assigned to simplify mail delivery and other essential requirements back then. Overall, the grounds improvements just boggles; grounds division was way underfunded and not prioritized. Thanks for the tour. An audible narrative would have helped.
