    When you get started put markers every 18 stitches to keep you going correctly. That way you can see where you start the repeats. Start with knit 2 together 3 times and end with knit 2 together 3 times. So after the first time you will actually have knit 2 together 6 times and yarn over 6 times except at the beginning of the row and end of row where you have knit 2 together 3 times. Good luck!

If i simply cast it off after the last row of the pattern i'll end off with a straight/wonky edge at the end opposed to the beautiful wavy edge at the beginning of the piece, am i right? Is there any way to have a wavy end to the work too? I'd appreciate some insight on this. Thank you :)

The second row is very tight and snugged to the point I can’t get the 5.25mm needle in the side the two stitches. I’ve knitted Rib stitch before, and never experienced such a resistance. But, with this particular pattern I’m struggling. Any tips on how to for pass the tension on my needles? Do I need a different size needles?

    I love this stitch and the result is beautiful. I would like to make this as a long rectangle to be used as a shawl, just draped over the shoulders. Do you have any suggestions about dimensions and the type of yarn? What about a silk blend which would be light and airy?

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  5 місяців тому +1

      A silk blend sounds gorgeous! If you’re planing to knit a long rectangle shawl (I believe this is called a “stole”) I would aim for a width of 20-30” and length of 65-75”. Knit a gauge swatch and block it so you have an idea of how many stitches = how many inches. Then you can do some math and figure out the number of cast on stitches and repeats you need for the your desired dimensions. Good luck!

    Like some of the others, I ended up with more stitches than I needed. Finally sussed out that you need to follow the (K2tog) 3 times, ( yo, k1) 6 times and (K2tog) 3 times as 1 pattern, so the next bit starts (K2tog) 3 times etc So you have 2 blocks of ((K2tog) 3 times together. I was missing out the first bit each time . Does this make sense?

    I don't understand! every time I go to the pattern row it is completely off. I keep unraveling and going back and trying to find a mistake but I can't. Is it normal for it to be off a few stitches each time because of the yarning over and knit 2 together adds and deletes stitches?

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  Рік тому +3

      If there are extra stitches then it’s likely that you’re adding in an extra YO. At the end of every row 3, count up the stitches to ensure that there are the same number as what you started with. You can also add a lifeline after row 4 so you can rip back to it if you add more stitches later. Here’s a video on lifelines: ua-cam.com/video/LPc0ns8hby4/v-deo.html

      I've been casting on 324 stitches and messing this pattern up for over a week now. I just figured out why it was adding stitches for me. I don't know if you've got this worked out yet but, here's what the pattern is:
      Cast on multiple of 18
      Knit across
      Purl across
      K2tog x3,
      (YO& K1 x6, K2tog x6)
      Repeat () across to last 6 stitches
      K2tog x3

    • @daisie4505
      @daisie4505 Рік тому

      Double check to make sure you follow the repeat to a T.
      If you are doing the repeat (k2 tog 3, Yo k1 6, k2 tog 3) correctly the decreases and increases will cancel out.
      If you follow the repeat fully you will be doing the k2 tog step back to back making 6 k2 tog in a row not just 3.
      Just make count to make sure there is an decrease for every increase or they won't cancel out and you will have 6 extra every repeat. Hope this made sense :)

    Hi,
    This looks beautiful. For a small baby blanket for perhaps a car seat size, how many stitches should I cast on? Thanks

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  2 роки тому +1

      It will depend on the weight of yarn you use. For example, a sock weight would need more stitches than a chunky weight. For a worsted weight yarn I’d say cast on between 100-130 sts or so. But the best way to figure out how many stitches to cast on is to knit a gauge swatch with your chosen yarn and needles. That way you’ll know how many sts = one inch. From there you can decide how wide you want the blanket to be, and with your gauge in hand some simple math will reveal the number of cast on sts. Here’s a video all about gauge: ua-cam.com/video/M-lvbzhq3fo/v-deo.html hope that helps!

    When stitching row 3 do we have to YO in between the regular knitting and K2tog? I keep losing or adding stitches?…

    I have tried to knit this pattern FOUR TIMES and each time I end up with three stitches that don't fit into the pattern. What am I doing wrong?

    My k2tg is so loose on the purl side, is that how it’s suppose to look? I’m very new to knitting. Also the 4th row is very loose . How do I fix it?

      It would look gorgeous! But just be aware that the lace can be a bit see-through, so you might want to avoid a wide panel of feather and fan across the bust 😅 otherwise you can always wear a tank top underneath

    can i use acrylic or wool yarn for this? and should it be a fine yarn 2-3 in weight? new to knitting

    • @ashleighrosenberger9519
      @ashleighrosenberger9519 2 місяці тому

      it does not matter, but using a bigger and lighter colour wool will help you to see what you are doing to ensure no mistakes

    Ms. D, I just watched your video on the feather and fan dishcloth but you did not mention how many row repeats are needed and when to bind off. Is there a border before binding off? This Information would be helpful!

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  Рік тому

      You can bind off when the dishcloth is the length that you like. The number of rows will depend on the yarn and needle size you use. There is no border

    Why oh why, time after time, do I reach the end of the pattern row with only 3 sets left? I have started over about 6 times and it keeps happening! 54 sets to start.

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  2 роки тому

      You can use this stitch for a blanket, shawl, scarf, a tea towel and more! It’s a versatile stitch. You’ll need at least 4 rows to complete the repeat, but best results are from completing at least 12-16 rows in my opinion

    Hi, I used multiples of 18 stitches so decided on 72 stitches & doing exactly as you say but instead of the knit 2 together 3 times at the end, I've got those 6 stitches where you knit 2 together before instead of the end so instead I'm left with 6 stitches where I have to yarn over knit 1 6 times for the end, I don't understand why I've checked all my stitches for the 3rd row and nothing is wrong, is this normal for 72 stitches?

    Hi do you need a border? Like two knit rows to start, then k2 pattern, ending with k2?

    • @sheepandstitch
      @sheepandstitch  Рік тому

      If you like you can include a border by adding it into the pattern, but it looks lovely without a border too!

    My stitches keep on growing. I started with 36 but now they are 51. Dont know why?

    • @daisie4505
      @daisie4505 Рік тому

      Make sure you are following the full repeat ' 3, 6, 3'
      So that you are doing enough decreases to cancel out the increases
      When done with the full repeat you will have the 'k2tog 3x' happen 2x back to back
      Hope that made sense, Good luck! :)
