Started knitting again after multiple very long (more than a decade the first break) breaks from knitting and completely forgot to knit/purl from the back loop of the last stitch to avoid those huge holes. I pull my yarn, but the tension never really comes out right, because my health makes knitting steady difficult (why I'm practicing). I found your YT channel today and love these patterns, and never guessed how much I would learn from a single short pattern video.
THANK YOU❣
Thank you! What a lovely comment 🤗
I’m a very beginning Knitter, coming from Crochet. I’m glad to discover your videos. Instructions are clear, visual is closeup, and you have a pleasant voice. Thank you for demonstrating in Continental style.🧶🌻
Thank you and welcome 🤗
😅 je suis nulle 😮
me to hahaha.. wanna try knitting
This question will quite clearly reveal that I am very much a beginner. I have watched the tutorial for this pattern at least 10 times and have looked up definitions for the abbreviation that I did not know. Then I have tried multiple times to get step 4 right so that I end up with 1 knit stitch at the end. Every time I ended up with 2 stitches left. Arg. Then last night, albeit, it was late and I ended up with 2 extra stitches so that my swatch was only 11 stitches, I now have 13. That's when I threw in the towel and decided I needed to contact you. Here is the instruction that has me befuddled:
K1, wyif sl1 pw, yb.
It seems straightforward enough and I happily move along until I get to the end. Sigh.
Thank you for any help you can provide. I really love the pattern and do not want to give up on it.
I think the extra loop for the purl stitch is what made two more loops. I haven’t tried this yet but I assumed it would be the reason why.
4th row) K1, yarn forward, slip 1 pearl wise, yarn back, knit 1
The yarn forward is to match the yarn (loop) of the 3rd row....
Thank You for taking the time to create and share this wonderfully easy to understand tutorial with us all. You are amazing ❤️
Thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing this video. What a simple yet elegant stitch. Your instructions are extremely helpful.
Thank you 😊
A really beautiful stitch. I love it! Thank you so much for teaching us. 😃👍🇨🇱❤️😘😘😘😘
This is a good easy to follow tutorial
That's so cute if I get good at knitting I'll try it
Thank you for this beautiful pattern.Very clearly taught.
❤
My pleasure! Thank you for your comment, and happy knitting 🤗
Thank you! Been knitting for a week today (inspired by Tom Daley) and this is my new favourite stitch pattern. I really like the slip stitch on row 3! Nice to have a rest from purling and I get through that row in no time. You are right that this pattern is easy to memorise, is easy to do and looks great.
🪢 🧶 🧵 🪡
I love how you make it so easy 😊 this one is my very first and it looks decent. Thank you!
Congratulations and thank you for sharing 🤗!
This is so satisfying to watch
Amazing pattern and also so beautiful stich and a perfect knitting design i will try thos one...❤😮
Beautiful stitch,thank you.
very easy to follow and really helpful!
I'm definitely going to try this pattern, thank you. Btw I love the way you knit, oh my I could watch you for hours.😃
Shaker sti’ch is nice I am am going to try.Tm
This was so well explained 👏 🙌 bless you.
So well explained, patiently.
Thank you.
The first try on my sample swatch it didnt look rite but I tried again and I think I've got it thanks!!
I am going to try it! It looks like fun. 😊
Thank you, it is 😉
Ive tried it again but still doesnt look like the pattern. The wrong side looks different and the set up row creats a different border. Dont know where the problem is
Hansen Hosni the wrong side does look differently from the right side I’ve just knitted a beautiful pale lemon scarf using this pattern it’s gorgeous hope this helps x
@@lornairvine7037 pale lemon yarn sounds like my dream yarn. What yarn did you use, if you don't mind sharing. Thank you.
I love the look of this stitch. My question is, you purled through the back loop on the last stitch of row zero, but not any of the other rows. Is there a reason for only doing it in the set-up row?
Often the last stitch from the cast on row is big. Kabob tightens it up
Hi
@@lynnecampbell5608 What is Kabob please?
I love this pattern and the calm and gentle way that you have in the way that you teach. I do have a question and would like to email it to you, if that is possible. I could not find an address to use.
Thanks you so much for sharing
I really like the pattern
Thank you 😊
Love your tutorials, you make them so easy. Thank you for the Diagonal, just started a wide scarf, however, now I’ve found this stitch….l think I changed my mind. 😖 xx
Thank you and good luck 🍀
Giving this a try tonight and ❤️ love it. So grateful for your video and channel. New Woolly here! 👋🏻🧶
Great pattern. Definitely in my inventory. Thank you.
This is such an easy stitch. Thank you for sharing :)
Can you also share how to make decreases and increases in this stitch?
Thank you!
Thank you I think I have got it ❤
Love your tutorials ❣️🧶. I would love to see a scarf pattern in all the multiples of common stitching. Like a Sampler Scarf.
The vast majority of people who bother to consider a knitter, assume if Grandma could do it, it has to be as intellectually basic as an illiterate farmer’s wife could be expected to handle.
Truth is, high achievers, ambitious and creatively driven intellectuals are crazy about working out this 3 dimensional, multi coloured pieces of architecture. You’re in that category for certain!
It takes a very clear, focussed mind to conceive such artistry in your meticulous and rhythmical manner!
Very nice👍👍👍
I love the stitch and your tutorials! I have one question about the last stitch of the set up row. You say that you like to purl or knit every last stitch in the back loop, but only show that in the set up row. Is this something you do only with a set up row?
Thank you! Exactly, only on the first row (which in this case is the set up row). It’s a way to tighten up this last stitch, that normally is too loose 😉
Thanks mam🙏
My pleasure 🤗
It might get confusing because there's no row 0? The last stitch thru the back loop is how you do it is confusing also. Thanks for sharing it's a beautiful stitch. I'm a crochet trying to learn how to knit.
The setup row or row cero is not so frequent. Working the last stitch through the back loop is optional, it works better for me 😉 Enjoy your knitting journey!
Thank you for this and all your tutorials!
What size needles are you using please .. I’m a very tight knitter what would you use i
I just wanted to ask why there is a row 0 when you said to follow the 4 row pattern (rows 1-4)? Thank you
because the main part of the pattern is a 4 row repeat, the only part of the pattern that should be repeated is the rows 1-4 ❤️
The pattern demo is not the same as what it’s meant to be.....
Hello, I would like to do a cover so I am just start to learn
Thank you for teaching us.
Is this basket stitch different to basket weave stitch?
Lovely hands!!
Thank you 😊
I really like the look of this pattern. If I were working in the round, do you think it would work with using an even number of stitches? I'm making a slouch hat with a bulky yarn. Thank you for this pattern, and I might just try a few rows on the hat just to see. 🤗🧶🙈hopefully it will work😁
Hi Carol, thank you for your comments. I haven’t tried it yet, but I think that could work (don’t forget to change the purl rows into knit rows). Please let me know 😉
@@sowoolly absolutely! I will let you know for sure...thank you sweetie!!
@@sowoolly Well, I've been working this pattern in the round...and it's PERFECT!!
Thank you so much...it's going to be a very warm hat xo 🎩😊💖
I’m happy to hear it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Hugs, and happy knitting 🤗
@@sowoolly hi
When knitting a larger piece.
Will you just continue the pattern of knit one, slip one, knit one, slip one and so on.
Or will you have to do 4 rows knit all and then start again?
Unless I'm doing something wrong, this is not a stretchy fabric so I don't see using it to knit a sweater. However, it will make fantastic dish/wash cloths!
I wouldn't think it would be a stretchy fabric, but it is dense and would make a great hat, scarf or cowl.
Thank you for mentioning your experience with this stitch, as I am on the hunt for different and good texture stitches to use for my washcloths. ♡ I've tried using 10 row panels of seed stitch, 1x1 rib stitch and stockinette - with a 5 row and 5 stitch garter stitch border.
Can you explain why we need the purl set up row ? Would it work to just begin with the knit row ?
I am a crocheter and new to knitting. Thank you for showing continental style. I'm confused though by this pattern. If I repeat from row 1 every time I do not get the small squares. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?
It’s a four-row repeat pattern. Please take a look at the written instructions: sowoolly.net/how-to-knit-the-basket-stitch-chunky-and-cozy/
Thanks I think I can do this .. I been wanting to learn a new pattern for a while now.
I love this one! Thank you for sharing! I am just wondering what yarn size and needle size did you use one the white final product?
My yarn size 5 and needle size 5 didn’t turn out with the same look as your white one.
Brilliant video, thank you 😊 🙏
Have you tried it ? I am not getting the same pattern ) =
Yes i wanted this pattern, shall use all cotyon yarn and make two connected oven pads
What size needle do I use for this project? Can this pattern be used for a scarf, if so how many stitches should I cast on?
Hi 👋🏼 I am a beginner with the basket stitch. I have finally gotten the stitch however, when adding it to a vest I am making I have had to start over and over because it comes out on the wrong side. What am I doing wrong? How can I add the basket stitch on a pattern already started? Thank you.
I want to knit a baby blanket how much wool do I need and how many stitches d I cast on? What no. Needles do I need.Thank you sister
Hi ❤ love the pattern cannot find where to get this little pattern can you help you say on the link below but I cannot find it

Happy knitting❣️
Wow so beautiful design I'm new sbscraebr 💕🤩🌹🌹🌹
Lovely. thank You!
Lobo thanks 👍👍
Can I have a pattern book so I can follow
I’m working on it 😉
What happens after the row of one knit slip one, one knit slip one..
Do you just continue like that?
Or do you knit all and then start the process again
Thank you
I've always had the worst time figuring out how how to wrap the yarn and learn a continental stitch style..
Would this pattern knit up for a baby blanket thank you 😊
It’s perfect! But you need to include a nice edge on each side of the piece 😉
Diagonal basket weave
I really like this pattern but is it supposed to roll inwards from the long ends or is it my stitch tension?
You try doing a knit only border. Knit 5 or 6 rows then start pattern. Place at least 3 stitches on the beginning and end of each row. Or try going up a needle size
Please guide from where to find this pattern
How many rows of knit one slip one? Before knitting while row?
Do you make a slip knot before adding the loops?
Not if I’m doing the long tail cast on method
sou do brasil gos5aria muito de entender os pontos mas nao consigo acompanhar por favor poderia colocar a fala em portuques
I’m sorry, I don’t speak Portuguese. Maybe in Spanish you’ll understand more? Take a look: ua-cam.com/video/cz81emnN0yk/v-deo.html
Beautiful explained i Will make à Nice blanket with tchat point tank You excuse m'y writing english
What size needles are you using for this pattern please
Her: i will start with 11 stitches
Me over here with ✨37 stitches ✨: oh.... Ok let's go
How mny cast on for baby blanket should I take?
Hi My Dear Friend,
Do you know how to knit topdown high neck sweater for five years old girl and if you know then kindly show the tutorials.
Thank you so much
God bless you
wonderful
Love ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ 💕 💘 ❤ going to do this one thank you
Thes is first 😯😯
How many cast on stitches for a baby blanket?
That depends. Please take a look at this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/rv21nHjdq-E/v-deo.html
What size needles
Tries several times and my sample does not come out same
Setup the slow motion for the video, and follow every step with me. Maybe you’ll find out where the mistake could be. If it’s not a mistake, it could be the weight of the yarn you’re using combined with the needle size. For that swatch I used worsted weight cotton yarn, and 4 mm needles.
I did it but Still doesn’t look like the pattern...
What kind of yarn and needles are you using?
@@sowoolly what yarn n needle size do u recommend for this pattern?
How must Rows to do please
Hello! I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the wonderfully clear and detailed tutorials. I have a question about this beautiful stitch. Can it be used for a blanket without any border?
Welcome! And thank you for your lovely comment 🤗 I’d think about adding a nice border on each side of the blanket.
how does this go with a dk yarn?
Perfectly fine (I think that I used DK cotton yarn for the image), but, use a needle size smaller than the suggested by the manufacturer 😉
@@sowoolly thanks! :)
What is the needle size?
My question too!
Will this curl??
Yes, this curls. You’ll need to block your piece when it’s done, or else use border stitches.
I did not understand anything because you started one way and then you went back to start again in the middle so what got me confused is after I do two rows do I start all over again or do I keep the pattern the way I was going you got me all confused
It's a 4 row repeat, so you pearl row 1: knit row 2: then knit 1, slip one pearlwise: then *knit one, move the yarn to the front and slip pearlwise, move the yarn to the back and repeat from * and knit the last stitch. You repeat these 4 rows over and over. Row zero is just to finish the edge of your piece. She pearls every stitch but the last one. She knits through the back loop just to make a tighter loop on that last stitch when you turn the work. You don't repeat row zero.
The way you are holding your thread on row 4 is very confusing. I cant see what you are doing
How do I put it on slow-motion
Touch screen top right _ click on 3 dots that appear till you see window with list, _press speed and you choose speed. Should do it
For some reason, my one didn’t turn up as what shown in the video.
When I did it again, it worked beautifully. Thank you so much!
I’m happy to hear it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much!!
How could row 4 be done in the round?
See Carol's message above about knitting in the round. I think the only change is to knit the pearl rows, so you would knit 2 rounds, then do the pattern stitch. and repeat.
I feel dumb, is there one with an even lower difficulty level? Been at it all day and Idk where I’m messing up 🥺
meri mummy ko bohot talent hai embroidy nd nd making designer sweter.. .
but i..😔😔 fissssss..not knowing single step..
U will learn im sure!
I'm following the pattern and my work does not look like yours at all. Thanks for an easy pattern to follow though.
Hi! It can be because of the gauge. What kind of yarn and needle size are you using?
@@sowoolly I'm using redheart yarn. I know it's not the best yarn. I just wanted to use it. I may try another yarn or larger needles. Thank you.
