So does Sylvania zXe have the same down-road as Silverstar Ultra?

No. The silverstar ultra are 27% brighter and 16% whiter than ZXE.
ZXE is more for xenon look. A little less bright than silverstar ultra.
If u want to upgrade with halogen bulbs, get the silverstar ultra. It’s worth it.

Silver star ultras are brighter/better than your zxe? Why do the zxe cost 50% more?

Hi Justin, SYLVANIA SilverStar zXe bulbs use a proprietary Xenon halogen gas technology which is different than that of SYLVANIA SilverStar Ultra. SilverStar Ultra is a premium product delivering the most downroad, more clarity and whiter light when compared to SYLVANIA Basic. SilverStar zXe achieves the look and feel of HID without having to install a conversion kit, and with a greater emphasis on style for your vehicle.

Very deceiving marketing. Any bulb that has a coating on the glass will result in less light output than one with the coating. The higher color temp appears brighter to the human eye but it really isn’t and reflects more light giving even poorer visibility in bad weather. Put up a video measuring lux output from a basic bulb without the coating and then one with it and it will prove the basic bulb has more light output. I’ve personally done this test, Any bulb with a blue coating is a marketing scam and should not be allowed. Lying to consumers like this is a horrible thing. There is a reason why the oem bulbs from the factory are clear glass bulbs. They provide the best light output, period

Except with Sylvania - silverstar ultra, it’s the brightest high performance halogen bulb in its segment. They are 27% brighter and 16% whiter than stock.
A sylvania - basic gets the job done to restore its brightness.
But it’s not bright enough and not safe enough. Using these are much better option. If not led

But I agree. With more blue coating like Philips Diamond vision, the more blue coating they add, the less brightness it makes. Hence why they focus for ore xenon look.

But they can use a thinner filament at the same time to get a brighter light, so that even after the blue filter the bulb is producing the same, or slightly more light than stock, at a higher color temp. But the thinner filament is why they don't last nearly as long. BulbFacts says they are 27% brighter than stock. Is that worth the extra price and short life? That's up to each individual customer to decide.

@@billyhw5492 especially when u want something brighter than stock. It’s a great bulb but u sacrifice the lifespan.
So is it worth it? It’s a 5050 yes and no.
I think they are worth it and they are pretty nice and brighter. Brighter than oem for sure.
