Hearing “Zed” took me back to my days of working with a crew of Canadians. Caught me off guard the first time you said it, but that time of my life was awesome, so it made me happy every time you said it!
I've noticed a difference with these actually. And my pair lasted over two years. It really depends on the vehicle. Different headlight designs seem to affect it. HID or LEDs are only legal in projection lamp headlights. NOT reflector headlights. So for poor people like me with old vehicles, I'll buy these. They have much better distance down road and side to side. For me that's worth it and I don't care what anyone says.
It makes sense that different housings yield different results. My 'downroad' is significantly improved in mine. The brightness and focus improvement is subjective, but I'd have to guess 20%.
This was a year ago so I doubt you'll see it 😂 but I've ran leds in my 97 powerstroke for 2 years now and they're not projectors. And I've had no problems with getting stopped.

had a pair in my f150 a few years ago. they were a pretty good difference from the regular 20 dollar set from walmart. did just fine out in the oilfield and actually served as the light source a few times on older source pits with no light plant. had them going strong for 2 1/2 years before i t-boned someone. might buy them again idk, im looking at options.

Just about 1 month ago my lights were stock and super yellow, I did a 3M restoration kit and upgraded to the silver star ultra plus added fog lights and man what a difference, I can actually see now lol
These are all in my own words before I watched entire video. So the similarities are real and legit. 1:05 my opinion the Silverstar are the whitest white and that's what I like. Very illuminating crisp clean light. Always replace bulbs as pairs at same time.

Indeed! You know your stuff. I just made a video regarding this. I upgraded to Silverstar Ultras and added some Nokya Hyper Yellow bulbs to compensate for poor weather when the white of the headlights are washed out. People don't believe that whiter, brighter headlights are only good for non bad weather conditions.
I have them on my old Cadillac, both low and high beams. People sometimes pass me and flash their high beams thinking mine are on. I then flash my actual high beams. Just ordered for my Pontiac.. thankfully don't need two sets again!
Just got these for my sister and kind of bummed with the low beam quality lol. Satisfied with high beams though. Guess more expensive isn't always better. If I knew that, I would have just gotten the Silverstar ultras lol. Oh well I did it with good intentions, thought I was getting my sister the best of the best, since she just got a new job and drives in the dark more now.

55 dollars. Smfh...thats crazy price on amazon. I got WAGNER H11TVX. It has xenon gas inside bulb. Thats only reason light goes brighter and price lilbit higher.

To me the Sylvania SilverStar ultra are better because they are wider light and they're longer down the road than these and they're cheaper it's just one step down. They pretty much look about the same color with the bright white I don't know why people keep saying that they have blue tint in them cuz I don't see no blue tint

I had put these on a 2001 Toyota Tacoma several times one set actually blew my fuses. Also a 2009 Kia Sportage several times so it gets kinda expensive having to buy these once a year off Ebay. the cheap Ebay LEDS are not good. Im not only one who complain about these cheap Ebay LEDS ..
These were actually dimmer than the OEM bulbs when I tried them. Perhaps just a bad mix of reflector & bulb match-up, but I was sorely disappointed in these.
I put these and the ZXE gold on my 2014 F150. I'm not sure if it's the application or what but they look exactly like regular bottom of the line gold-colored halogens. I also have the same zxe bulbs in my fog lights and their bright white with a slight blue tint. Is there some reason they cannot match their bulb colors from one bulb to the other in the same model???
I have replaced my gm H11 to these bulbs and now I can barely see with them at all. I can't find a reason why they are so dim. I thought the internet had all the answers!
Johnnie go to bulbfacts.com for the answer. The Sylvania Silver Star Ultra is MUCH better than the zXe. The zXe just looks whiter but it doesn’t light up the road or road signs like the Silverstar Ultras do. Get the Ultras.
You should never touch the glass of a new bulb. The oils from your skin will make the bulb fail prematurely. If your going to attempt to make an instructional video, you should know this kind of stuff.
Yup I agree with you, common knowledge. My car noob buddy didn’t know that unfortunately so he grabbed it while I was filming. made sure he didn’t touch the new bulbs, old ones not too worried about

To add my input, I have the Ultras which are a single step behind the ZXEs. These premium bulbs by Sylvania are worth it! However DO NOT shop retail at Walmart or Advance Auto Parts. You'll be paying an arm and a leg. Go to ebay and you'll be surprised how cheap you can get these. I made a full comparison, side by side. Check it out!
I have the Ultras and am very content. Couldn't see a big difference with the ZXE bulbs considering the ZXEs offer a mere 10% extra light vs the Ultras 27%.

During installation you were not only “not wearing” gloves but are also touching the glass of the bulb! The oil on your hands will eventually blow that bulb! This being an instructional video maybe you may want to put some caveats in this video! Otherwise thanks for the effort in the review.
Its actually the oils on his skin that causes a hot spot,to which it blows due to that..NOT just cause the oils of his skin make it blow..So if your gonna shit on someone,have details in place.....Its same thing as fryin an egg in a fry pan..

You will have to take apart the sealer that keeps the housing and glass sealed, and then reseal. Or possibly take off the headlight and take out bulbs and see if you can get in there somehow with a towel or something
In my opinion these bulbs are a waste of money. For $5 more, you can get an excellent HID kit. These will produce a nicer light (especially since you can actually choose the color you want) and they are much brighter. If you don't want HIDs, there are also great $40-$50 led kits which far outshine any halogens. Since the beam pattern of a high beam isn't as crucial as the one on the low beams, you can get cheap $20 LEDs for the high beams. Again, they'll outshine any halogen, and the instant on-off means they're more effective at getting someone's attention. And you said it yourself: these halogens don't last as long. I've heard stories of people who have to replace these bulbs every 12 months, with frequent night time drivers replacing them as often as every 6 months! For that price, I simply don't see why you'd buy them given the other options available. Still, I'm glad you made a comparison between these bulbs, since there's not much info on their actual performance.
@@darbysmith7159 that's really not true. Sure, a cheap $20 LED with a giant COB chip will give you a bad beam pattern. However, many $40-50 LED kits use CSP chips which mimic the size and shape of the halogen bulb filament very closely. In most cases, these LEDs create a perfectly usable beam pattern that is very close, if not identical, to the stock beam. On the other hand, I don't recommend using LEDs in projectors, since projectors are much more sensitive to minor changes in size and shape of a bulb. Sometimes even high quality LEDs won't provide a good beam pattern, and will produce an dim, unfocused beam. As for HIDs, many cars come with HIDs in reflector housings from the factory. Older Lexus models, Infiniti SUVs and the 2nd gen Toyota Prius often have them. I've also seen plenty of cars with aftermarket HIDs in reflectors. While I can't say anything about the beam pattern, I can say that they usually aren't blinding. Since the discharge capsule of HIDs is usually very small, they usually work well in both projectors and reflectors. While I wouldn't recommend using HIDs in reflectors, it is certainly possible to do so and to get a good beam. Many sites and UA-cam channels, such as Headlight Revolution, have tested numerous LEDs and even some HIDs in reflectors and shown that they produce more than adequate beams.
@@MrFastFox666 Many LED bulbs, even sets costing $100, interfere with radio reception and don't last long due to faulty components, wiring, etc. I've personally tested several sets. So far, the longest lasting set was just two years and they were the annoying type with loud fans which eventually stopped working. I love the look of LED bulbs, but can't seem to find a reliable brand. I'm willing to pay more for a product that lasts and doesn't interfere with other systems. Oh well, at least the LEDs in my house are working (knock on wood)

I think the diamond vision by Philips are better. Price is about half and the look is much more white with that slight blur tint. Mimics HID lights more.
It means the connector to the harness is straight and not at a right angle. Most 9006/9005 are at a right angle and they won’t fit in the charger headlight housing
No offense but there's very very little difference, in the end it's still just a halogen bulb. Put the Silver Star next to an LED or an actual HID and you will be blown away with the results.
some places wont allow you to modify non projector housings with HIDs. for one it can blind the shit outta ppl since they arent made for them. and 2 i had a charger many years ago and HIDs are ass with them... chrysler has issues with resistance and it causes them to not work properly and buzz and flicker
bought the headlights and matching fog lights about 2 years ago, absolute waste of money, for the amount these cost you can get almost top of the line LED lights with 10 times more results. Not worth it
To be honest for that price you could of just got some h.i.d lights that look waaaaay brighter, but anything looks better than those regular yellow lights . I feel those zxe lights are overpriced for what they are l.e.d and h.i.d kits are right around 60 bucks
Yeah thats a good point if you can find the HIDs for a good price. For me with shipping and US conversion the price gets up there quickly. But planning to do Leds at some point
Did u know for the 2009 charger the high beam bulbs are supposed to be 9006 not the Xs, I know it’s dumb because they don’t really fit but if you in a bind and can’t get ahold of the xs standard with 90 degree will fit

Wow the north is harsh to cars geez the rust is eating your car alive. I ave a 2002 dodge ram and the only thing that has any remote rust on it is the exhaust the rest is completely rust free the frames have 0 rust it's all OEM painted black.
Russ Novak i have some that lasted almost 2yrs. 1) If you didn't use gloves to put them in, then yes you are right. Plus you HAVE TO use bulb grease to help dissipate the heat or again they will not last as they burn hotter than a basic bulb.
+Russ Novak That's why I shop ebay and not full retail. No need to spend over $20 for Ultras or ZXEs that indeed have a shorter life span. I got some two packs of Ultras brand new on ebay for $23 total with shipping. Now I have back ups!
I don't think it's worth it. Better to get the full conversion kit because you are not installing them everyday but once and they last for years to come. Not a great investment because they still look ugly halogen.
Definitely a noticeable improvement in brightness and you can totally see the difference in color.

Get a LED replacement thats rated even brighter. I did this but had to place a led adapter in between because the led would flicker

LEDs are not designed to work in a halogen light housing. Yes they're bright but the light scatters all over makes it hard to see.

You should use gloves to not touch the bulb as to not transfer oils onto the glass... it can shatter when hot ... also bulb grease

I’ve used these in my suburban and Z71 and they were definitely brighter than stock but only lasted about 6 months in both vehicles.
They should come with a one year guarantee so you can get a new set. Also make sure you don’t touch the bulb with your fingers

Do these take a while to warm up? I install em I wore gloves and make sure not to touch the bulb nd it looks same as the stock lol? Any suggestions?

No headlight assembly is minimum $200 and for the charger you have to take off the bumper. Bulbs are now like $30 for LEDs on Amazon
$40 set of led bulbs look way better if you're looking for a bright white light just saying
Not enough of a difference to justify the price. Whiter light when looking at them, but barely any difference when looking at road.
In my opinion these bulbs are a waste of money. For $5 more, you can get an excellent HID kit. These will produce a nicer light (especially since you can actually choose the color you want) and they are much brighter. If you don't want HIDs, there are also great $40-$50 led kits which far outshine any halogens. Since the beam pattern of a high beam isn't as crucial as the one on the low beams, you can get cheap $20 LEDs for the high beams. Again, they'll outshine any halogen, and the instant on-off means they're more effective at getting someone's attention. And you said it yourself: these halogens don't last as long. I've heard stories of people who have to replace these bulbs every 12 months, with frequent night time drivers replacing them as often as every 6 months! For that price, I simply don't see why you'd buy them given the other options available.
Still, I'm glad you made a comparison between these bulbs, since there's not much info on their actual performance.

@@darbysmith7159 that's really not true. Sure, a cheap $20 LED with a giant COB chip will give you a bad beam pattern. However, many $40-50 LED kits use CSP chips which mimic the size and shape of the halogen bulb filament very closely. In most cases, these LEDs create a perfectly usable beam pattern that is very close, if not identical, to the stock beam. On the other hand, I don't recommend using LEDs in projectors, since projectors are much more sensitive to minor changes in size and shape of a bulb. Sometimes even high quality LEDs won't provide a good beam pattern, and will produce an dim, unfocused beam.
As for HIDs, many cars come with HIDs in reflector housings from the factory. Older Lexus models, Infiniti SUVs and the 2nd gen Toyota Prius often have them. I've also seen plenty of cars with aftermarket HIDs in reflectors. While I can't say anything about the beam pattern, I can say that they usually aren't blinding. Since the discharge capsule of HIDs is usually very small, they usually work well in both projectors and reflectors. While I wouldn't recommend using HIDs in reflectors, it is certainly possible to do so and to get a good beam.
Many sites and UA-cam channels, such as Headlight Revolution, have tested numerous LEDs and even some HIDs in reflectors and shown that they produce more than adequate beams.
@@MrFastFox666 Many LED bulbs, even sets costing $100, interfere with radio reception and don't last long due to faulty components, wiring, etc. I've personally tested several sets. So far, the longest lasting set was just two years and they were the annoying type with loud fans which eventually stopped working. I love the look of LED bulbs, but can't seem to find a reliable brand. I'm willing to pay more for a product that lasts and doesn't interfere with other systems. Oh well, at least the LEDs in my house are working (knock on wood)
the last set of these i bought lasted 2 1/2 years before i t-boned someone in my f150. worked 2nd shift in the oil field and they worked great for just grabbing some bulbs at walmart on my way out to location. while not the best option they are an option for cities with light restrictions.

I think the diamond vision by Philips are better. Price is about half and the look is much more white with that slight blur tint. Mimics HID lights more.

It means the connector to the harness is straight and not at a right angle. Most 9006/9005 are at a right angle and they won’t fit in the charger headlight housing
No offense but there's very very little difference, in the end it's still just a halogen bulb. Put the Silver Star next to an LED or an actual HID and you will be blown away with the results.
some places wont allow you to modify non projector housings with HIDs. for one it can blind the shit outta ppl since they arent made for them. and 2 i had a charger many years ago and HIDs are ass with them... chrysler has issues with resistance and it causes them to not work properly and buzz and flicker

bought the headlights and matching fog lights about 2 years ago, absolute waste of money, for the amount these cost you can get almost top of the line LED lights with 10 times more results. Not worth it
To be honest for that price you could of just got some h.i.d lights that look waaaaay brighter, but anything looks better than those regular yellow lights . I feel those zxe lights are overpriced for what they are l.e.d and h.i.d kits are right around 60 bucks
Yeah thats a good point if you can find the HIDs for a good price. For me with shipping and US conversion the price gets up there quickly. But planning to do Leds at some point

Did u know for the 2009 charger the high beam bulbs are supposed to be 9006 not the Xs, I know it’s dumb because they don’t really fit but if you in a bind and can’t get ahold of the xs standard with 90 degree will fit

Wow the north is harsh to cars geez the rust is eating your car alive. I ave a 2002 dodge ram and the only thing that has any remote rust on it is the exhaust the rest is completely rust free the frames have 0 rust it's all OEM painted black.

1) If you didn't use gloves to put them in, then yes you are right. Plus you HAVE TO use bulb grease to help dissipate the heat or again they will not last as they burn hotter than a basic bulb.

+Russ Novak That's why I shop ebay and not full retail. No need to spend over $20 for Ultras or ZXEs that indeed have a shorter life span. I got some two packs of Ultras brand new on ebay for $23 total with shipping. Now I have back ups!
@@novakruss510 they are warrented for 1 Year so you shouldve been glad to get a free set. They dont last as long as a basic they burn hotter.
Not worth it at all from my experience. Whiter light but not brighter and one burnt out in about 10 months. 2014 ecodiesel ram.

I don't think it's worth it. Better to get the full conversion kit because you are not installing them everyday but once and they last for years to come. Not a great investment because they still look ugly halogen.
Should’ve got the zxe gold xenon gas filled. They’re waaaaayyyy brighter than these junk bulbs and have a white blue hue to them. These bulbs suck lol
Be sure not to get any body fluid or sweat on the bulbs, always wear black mechanic gloves.
Make sure you DO NOT TOUCH THE BULBS with your bare hands, the oils from your hands will shorten the life of the bulb.
