Record snowfall in California leaves people trapped inside their own homes

  • Record snowfall has blanketed California's Sierra Nevada mountains, burying some communities under nearly four metres of snow and forcing critical businesses such as grocery stores to close.
    Some people remain trapped inside their homes and have been warned it could take up to a week for rescuers to arrive. Jackson Proskow looks at the rescue efforts, and what the snowstorms mean for a state used to severe droughts.
