The sepia amber optics, while seeming unimpressive at close range, are amazing for spotting hiding enemies at long range in Warzone (the orange border around human targets becomes incredibly thick and easy to see), and are some of the most commonly equipped optics right now for that very reason.

The SZ Holotherm is my favorite, even at medium-long range. No "Sniper Glint", but the outline gives enough contrast that you can still make your long-range adjustments as needed. Also it can go on a couple of the actual sniper rifles for one-shot/quick scope builds. Also I almost exclusively use the Drexsom Prime for long range sniping because of the reasons listed in the video, plus the fact that it only has a medium sniper glint, which can make a huge difference in longer-range encounters (such as in DMZ or Warzone 2)

Hey Marlin, yes Holotherm is super popular, but for some reason I don't like it for long range, I find it difficult to track targets due to visual recoil.

Liking your content. Only thing I think was missing from this was range of the thermal optics. I think I remember it being a fixed number but could have included it in the video for WZ2/DMZ players.
Yup your right, I should have included that info, there doesn't seem to be a max range on thermals in-game, the targets just get so small it's hard to see them even with thermal highlighting. In any case I wish there was some way to get these comments before publishing the video lol. But I'll remember for next time!

I would’ve really liked to have heard input on these optics at longer ranges. I say this because when using the teplo I notice that I can’t spot glowing enemies on Ashoka at farther ranges so I need an optic that will spot from all ranges.
Hey Zak, you're correct I should have included that information. They all seem to max out between 100 and 150 meters. Of course enemies will still be visible but there won't be any highlighting effect.
Great video! Very helpful, for me i love to go with the SV heatsource 800 especially in Warzone because i love the feeling with this and we see easily enemies
No you don't mate, everything is dark af and there is 0 outline above 150 meters, and still, the outline is so minimal its trash. And when you land a shot, the blood of the enemies turns into a big cloud blurring your vision

Anyone else just floored at how most of the thermal scopes can’t see through literally solids of smoke from anything except for a smoke grenade??? It definitely was giving me a never ending migraine :( Most of the cod games erred on the side of allowing thermals to see through debris clouds and such until recently…kinda a big nerf
Yup they were cautious to not allow a thermal Meta like we had in early Warzone 1. The thermals are still pretty good though, especially if you run smokes and resupply. I just wish the thermals were better balanced amongst themselves and we're all equally viable.
When using the canted sights and lasers, it should change the way your gun recoils. The recoil pattern should go up and to the left. Was kinda dissapointed that wasn't the case.
That would be a whole new level of realism. Would probably feel really weird and uncontrollable. The canted weapon setups feel strange enough as is lol
please do a video on bullet penetration, or at least an ammo comparison guide. I've had many questions about bullet types since this launch. I have found very little to no info on bullet penetration with AP. Does it change with different calibers? example, 338 lapua will naturally have greater penetration power than 9mm? Does 5.7x28mm have a penetration bonus? And how about when you put on armor piercing rounds, how much does it change? and we can't forget about the AP pickup perk, does this do more penetration than AP rounds you can put on your gun? And what about incendiary bullets? Do these do more flinch than all the other bullets?
hi, yesterday I tried all the thermal sights, but unlike what I saw in your video they don't work well. in the smoke almost everyone does not allow to see an enemy without "cold blood".the VX350 is the only one that works as seen in your video. maybe they made an update to the game, but the other colors are different.the "sz holotherm" for example can't see anything through the smoke, it's completely blind
I've heard that some thermal scopes lose their thermal detection at long ranges? Is this true? Do you know what range it is? Do any thermal scopes not lose their thermal detection properties at any range? Thanks, great video as always. Very appreciated.
I'm assuming you mean the long ranges you can get in Warzone, they don't appear lose thermal properties at range, targets just get smaller and you wind up seeing other heat sources, like burning buildings, cars etc... the enemies don't 'pop' like they did during the Warzone 1 thermal meta.
Teplo is really good unless your up against the smoke airdrop which completely hides cold blooded enemies. Check out my Smoke Airdrop video for the details and thanks for watching!
Just found your channel love it. I love in-depth information like you are giving. would love to see a video on explosive organise rocket launchers under barrel Grenade Launcher damage Ranges and damage done hope that make sense. I will be telling everyone about your channel!
Night view looks the coolest to me but doesn't feel too effective. The monochrome is solid and if they don't have cold blooded is the best. The amber feels more balanced when shooting mix of cold blooded targets. The toggle is solid IMO
@@FavstaRGaming had to double check it, and yes it was blue however everything hot showed up as red. The surroundings however were nowhere near as clear though (kinda like predator vision if that makes sense). Drex is the closest (I think) that you can get to it.
Excellent video. This is becoming my go-to channel for MW2 stats and information. You should consider making a Patreon since YT obviously doesn't value your content enough, but I bet the subs you have would be motivated to support!

@@FavstaRGaming Totally get it. I doubt you need to wait on a predictable upload schedule, though--so much value is delivered already that I certainly don't care whether you upload daily/weekly/etc. I'm sure I'm not alone!
@FavstaR do any of them see through windows partially? For example: Can you see the player but not highlighted with the thermal. Similar to having cold blooded on.. Night View schlager for example?
@@Icepyr0 good question, I'm definitely gonna keep track of some of these questions for a follow up video. I can say for sure the monochrome scopes can't see anything through glass, just a complete whiteout. But I'm not 100% sure on the rest.
The 3x night vision is vey good for a mid to long range target with an AR like the m13 because it has the lowest zoom of any optic in the game of what I can tell
"No reason whatsoever to use the 3x nightvision scope" Cmon you gloss over the fact it's the only optic in the game with a 3x-8x zoom. If I remember right this also gives you the lowest possible zoom level on some snipers. I really like your videos so I'd hate to see you fall into the same hole of Xclusive Ace and the like of "this is the best" "this 1 stat is the only one that matters" "no reason whatsoever" "useless" etc instead of thinking about all the angles. But again you're doing criminally underrated work, don't get me wrong. Edit: I was also hoping you'd talk about some of the finer details of the optics' visuals like movement trails (refresh rate), bullet impacts, muzzle flash, etc.
Interesting angle about the 3x. I was more focussed on the thermal aspects of the scopes for this video and trying to keep it as short and sweet as possible. I am planning another more generalized video about optics in which I detail all the penalties (Ads time, Aim Walking Movement Speed and Glint) which is more applicable when your talking about all the Optics. It’s actually interesting because the movement penalties scale with zoom level… but that’s for another day :)
You forgot to test all these against glass. From my understanding only the SZ Holotherm can see through glass, but I wanted to know if the Thermo-Optic X9 or any other longer range scope has the same property so I can use it for sniping in Warzone.
@@FavstaRGaming It's been like that from launch, unless they changed something recently, I'll probably go and test it today to confirm it's still the same. If you could, I'd love to know if the same is true for the X9, since it's supposedly the same highlighting AR tech behind the optic
@@FavstaRGaming I've just confirmed, the SZ holotherm works through glass without turning the thermal imaging off. This is why I've been using this optic forever, it's the best of both worlds. I don't have access to the X9 but could you confirm if it works the same way? If it does, I'll grind my way to unlock it, otherwise I won't bother.

Need some help brother, tried thermal and it doesn't gives me nearly a clear picture as it is here. I got my settings all low, I guess it might be that. Would you know what exactly might be?
Pain in the ass, just need to test which thermals actually work and which don't, I find the Holotherm works at least, but the Teplo is completely worthless besides seeing through smoke.
@@netherwolf3012 you were right, when its on high it gave me same result as in video, on medium its not working. But I got a weak PC so it droped my fps a lot.
@dukisa8791 Yeah, saw it on reddit. They say it costs over 12% on GPU performance just for high shaders, which probably isolates a GOOD amount of the community from these scopes working properly. Feels like a massive oversight from the devs to me.
Yeah the teplo uses more of a full body glow rather than a thermal outlining, it's also really susceptible to external heat sources like burning vehicles and explosives.

One of my main loadouts is a canted Bas-P pro tuned, would like to see a grip breakdown, stock etc if you haven’t already thanks
I like the sz thermal on the 50 caliber!
But the prime 90 is the way to go for me I do some tricky shit with that one lol
please do a video on bullet penetration, or at least an ammo comparison guide.
Interesting video concept... I'll put it on my 'to-do' list
@@FavstaRGaming thanks man, i appreciate it
yes me to i want to know edsactly what each ammo type does and doesnt do
hi, yesterday I tried all the thermal sights, but unlike what I saw in your video they don't work well. in the smoke almost everyone does not allow to see an enemy without "cold blood".the VX350 is the only one that works as seen in your video. maybe they made an update to the game, but the other colors are different.the "sz holotherm" for example can't see anything through the smoke, it's completely blind
Depends on your shader quality. Anything below high fucks with all the thermal sights.
Thx alot! Like the alot in all CoD games. Good one!
I wish you had covered the interactions with tear gas, as that obscures the target more than smoke does due to the gas being a source of heat.
Interesting, yes that's worth a closer look.
Sir i commend you, Amazing work. Very capturing immersive video 10/10. This guy is National Geographic or Discovery Channel Documentary Level.
Just subscribed, great videos 🔥👌🏻🔥
I use the Drexom Prime 90 but I am going to try the VX350 and see how I like it.
Dude, amazing video... Thank you
This was sooo good, and still is. Continue to go back to it after 1 year for comparisons! Thank you. You going to do the same for Warzone 3???
Already done
Had to log in to like and comment. This was a clean look. Going to explore the other videos.
Awesome thank you!
You totally remind me of xbox ahoy my friend great video!
Teplo for DMZ is the go to
Great review of MW2 Thermals Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
For snipers I go fro sz hearsource and anything else is either holotherm or black mono
Only reason i wanna use the SZ heat seeker is because of the overgrown bundles
VX350 for ARs LMGs and Teplo Clear Shot for SMGs.
SZ holotherm has also most zoom without sniper glint
Yup, it's unfortunately not the best for enemies to 'pop' off the screen though, better options available for target clarity imho.
Nice video. Yes the 350 for me too. My eyes arnt great and this scope helps a lot!!
Good choice!
Teflon one with canted red dot is my fav
It's awesome visually but I'm heavy thumbed, I always accidentally toggle during gunfights
I like the teplo on my LAB . It just works for me
Teplo is really good unless your up against the smoke airdrop which completely hides cold blooded enemies. Check out my Smoke Airdrop video for the details and thanks for watching!
@@FavstaRGaming I will add the teplo thermal effect goes away completely at certain ranges . That’s my experience
Just found your channel love it. I love in-depth information like you are giving. would love to see a video on explosive organise rocket launchers under barrel Grenade Launcher damage Ranges and damage done hope that make sense. I will be telling everyone about your channel!
Hey thanks Jason, Glad your enjoying the content.
It should be great if you can make this kind of video periodically, like each 3 month. Recommend to add preferences up to 3 instead of 1.
Night view looks the coolest to me but doesn't feel too effective. The monochrome is solid and if they don't have cold blooded is the best. The amber feels more balanced when shooting mix of cold blooded targets. The toggle is solid IMO
Night view is my second favorite, pretty clean look and I'm a fan of blue-tint thermal palette.
The Drex simply because it reminds of an old-school game called Socom
Ok we're really showing our age here now but I remember Socom had the blue tint thermal, like the Schlager night vision? But maybe I'm wrong.
@@FavstaRGaming had to double check it, and yes it was blue however everything hot showed up as red. The surroundings however were nowhere near as clear though (kinda like predator vision if that makes sense). Drex is the closest (I think) that you can get to it.
Thermal heat signature infrared & night vision all in one maybe 8x zoom
VX-350 the best hands down. But it's severely restricted
Great video man thanks very much for taking the time to put that together. Just dabbling with the idea of trying a thermal so this was very helpful!
Glad you liked it!
Excellent video. This is becoming my go-to channel for MW2 stats and information. You should consider making a Patreon since YT obviously doesn't value your content enough, but I bet the subs you have would be motivated to support!
Hey thanks Emperor, I appreciate the feedback! I've been considering doing what you suggested and as soon as I can get a more predictable upload schedule I'll probably set it up. Hopefully I can get that sorted out soon but 'real life' makes that challenging atm. Thanks for watching.
@@FavstaRGaming Totally get it. I doubt you need to wait on a predictable upload schedule, though--so much value is delivered already that I certainly don't care whether you upload daily/weekly/etc. I'm sure I'm not alone!
Thanks you brother ❤
I wish you could cover the following topics with thermals:
Can any see through glass?
Can any see through water?
They don't work through glass or water.
@FavstaR rule applies to all of them?
Got any tests to show this?
In particular I was wondering water
@@Icepyr0 no testing to show but I've seen it first hand, gotta bust out windows in WZ and they don't do anything undrrwater
Yes it doesn't provide enemy highlight but it's the lowest zoom possible on 2 of the snipers
Nice breakdown. Glad I found your channel.
Awesome, thank you!
Could you do regular sniper scopes and how to read the mildots to compensate for bullet drop?
Yes that's a great idea I'll put it on 'the list'
National Geograpic: Into the wild - Call of duty 😎😎
Ha. I already had the Drexsom equipped. Guess I picked the best one already
Has to be the Schlager Night View for me. I find it the clearest in most situations.
Good collateral
My fav scope, wish it has lover zoom or side red dot option
Lol gotta love the collaterals!
How far can you see enemies with these thermal scopes? With Schlager night cant seem to spot enemies easely from +150 meters
I used the smoke/thermal combo in mw19. Just sucks because sometimes the smoke grenade hinders your own teammates instead of the enemy team lol
Lol yup I have when teammates use smoke, then I gotta switch to thermal.
You forgot to test all these against glass. From my understanding only the SZ Holotherm can see through glass, but I wanted to know if the Thermo-Optic X9 or any other longer range scope has the same property so I can use it for sniping in Warzone.
None of them work through glass
@@FavstaRGaming SZ Holotherm does.
@@DrCisco you sure? It wasn’t toggled off? I haven’t tested but I recall not being able to see through glass with the holotherm.
If it does, I'll grind my way to unlock it, otherwise I won't bother.
love the voice over! which one is it? i follow another guy completely unrelated to gaming who uses it.. or very similar. works great! great content. have a like and a sub.
Thanks Rob... the voice is mine though lol
@@FavstaRGaming no way! You sound identical! It's clearly you behind all the voiceover work I hear! This channel just a side hustle. 😂 Great voice!
Wait, how were you playing Shipment with armor plates?
I made a private match because I didn't have that particular optic unlocked, it gives armor plates in private matches now, I think it's a bug.
@@FavstaRGaming Seems like an armor plate 6v6 mode might be interesting.
somehow Hard Point in Private Match give all player plates
Is the Scahlager night view worth putting on a sniper ?
Absolutely
I really miss the merc thermal from 2019.
Yes me too, similar to the VX350 except the Merc was White-Hot with a slightly bigger ocular lens.
You earned a Sub today, Mate! Extremely well crafted video, extremely helpful. Noice! +++
Hey thanks T wrecks, glad u enjoyed the video
Need some help brother, tried thermal and it doesn't gives me nearly a clear picture as it is here. I got my settings all low, I guess it might be that. Would you know what exactly might be?
So if your shaders are set to ANYTHING below high it breaks.
Pain in the ass, just need to test which thermals actually work and which don't, I find the Holotherm works at least, but the Teplo is completely worthless besides seeing through smoke.
@@netherwolf3012 thanks man, imma try it
@@netherwolf3012 you were right, when its on high it gave me same result as in video, on medium its not working.
The teplo clear shot dual optic isn’t as good as I would hope it loses the outline at anything above medium range maybe medium-long range if lucky
Yeah the teplo uses more of a full body glow rather than a thermal outlining, it's also really susceptible to external heat sources like burning vehicles and explosives.
