I see many people buying huge amounts of soda all of the time; They look like dazed zombies who want nothing more than their soda fix...Imo, natural flavors are making these people extremely aggressive & may be contributing to their obvious weight problems...
Since quitting natural flavors, I've lost 40 pounds & feel much healthier; Imo, if a company won't tell you what's in their products, you should not give them your money...There's a reason why they won't tell you, & at least 99% of the time, that reason is probably not a good one.

I asked Zevia what was in their Natural Flavors here is their reply.
    Hi Paul,
Zevia has always listed “natural flavors” in ingredient panels. Because of proprietary reasons, we cannot list all the flavors we put in our sodas.
Our “Natural Flavors” are all plant-derived. Examples of components in our natural flavors are citrus oils, cherry essence, cassia oil, wintergreen, and other flavor compounds unique to each flavor (eg, Caffeine Free Hibiscus Passionfruit). We don’t disclose a laundry list of our natural flavors.

Our entire strategy revolves around using plant-derived ingredients, and creating a ‘smarter choice’ than the mainstream products. The term “Natural” is a highly sensitive term in the food and beverage industry, as there no regulatory framework for calling a product ‘natural’, we avoid calling our product ‘natural’. The term “Natural Flavors” is an exception, given that it has regulatory framework. For example, that cannot use ‘artificial flavors’ and call them ‘natural flavors’.
We can absolutely confirm that there is no MSG, dairy, egg, soy, wheat, peanut, tree nut, fish, shell fish in any Zevia product. All Zevia beverages are Gluten Free, and Vegan, as well as non-GMO Project verified and Kosher.
However, we take great care in choosing ingredients that are the smartest choice for all of our consumers, especially those who have special diets and food allergies. If there is an ingredient you are trying to avoid, we are able to confirm whether or not these beverages will be right for you. Just let us know.
    Sincerely,
    Jae-Min Mandala

What's really amazing about the "natural flavors" and "artificial flavors" titles is that, this umbrella term was the result of legislation passing that forced food manufacturers to properly list their ingredients on the label. Since then big corporations have managed to walk back that legislation and gerrymander ingredients in a way that makes the ingredients list even more misleading than it was before.

Due to severe food allergies, I prepare everything from scratch with whole ingredients. The term natural flavorings is simply too vague for me to risk. Another issue is the word broth. Pork and turkey are injected with broth. By law, the ingredients used to create the broth do not need to be listed. This is, again, not something I can afford to risk. Also, those ingredients can be changed at any time without our knowledge. Therefore, pork and turkey are not on my menu unless I can source from a farm that raises them humanely and processes them on the farm. Also, commercial chicken is soaked in salt water. This plumps them up, increasing the weight. That's why they shrink so much after cooking. I've cut back my consumption of chicken as it simply tastes bland and has no flavor. I also wonder about the water quality used in soaking the chickens. What a shame that we cannot trust our food growers and suppliers.

      @@hannahb9864 Lmnt responded…
“Glad you asked! The natural flavors are either distilled or extracted from fruits, roots, and spices and then spray-dried into powder form. These powdered flavors are created through a spray drying process that turns liquid flavors (botanical or spice extracts-in this case, fruit extracts) into a fine, dry powder that delivers taste in a blendable and shelf-stable form.
The process to encapsulate a flavor’s taste from liquid flavors into powder (spray drying) generally utilizes only water, the flavor carrier, and the flavor itself. For some flavors, a very small amount of ethyl alcohol (0.001-1%) is used as a solvent. The heat involved in the spray drying process causes the alcohol to evaporate.”
      Verbs response at first was…
“I’m sorry! We are unfortunately unable to provide specifics on natural flavors as the recipes are kept secret for proprietorial reasons. Is there a specific ingredient you’re concerned about?”
Then I just said all I wanted to know was if their natural flavors were derived from natural sources i.e food or if there was any added artificial ingredients.
      There response was then…
“We use natural flavors same as with each bar to craft the perfect taste! We can confirm that there are definitely no artificial ingredients in these natural flavors. There are no major allergens either!”

If the flavoring doesn't actually come from a growing, living plant...THEN ITS NOT NATURAL!!!!!! Simple...!!
    Like....DAAA!!
Then...if the flavoring comes from chemicals mixed together, in vats, inside some chemical plant...THEN WHAT'S NATURAL ABOUT IT????
You totally missed the boat on this!! I mean in college in my chemistry labs...we made tons of different kinds of flavorings....banana, apple, strawberry, orange, mango, cherry....etc...etc!! Sure...you couldn't tell the difference, between them and the actual fruits and berries!! Except....the ones we made grew up in TEST TUBES!!
SOO...when you read on a label about natural flavors. If it doesn't come from an actual plant. Then it came from a test tube...and there's not one dam thing natural about that. And I grew up on my family's large family farm in Illinois. And I've never once seen Coke Bottle plants growing in a field...boxes of fruits lays growing in a field. And I've certainly never seen fields of, "Test Tubes Of Natural Flavors", growing in a field!!!
Come on people....get a clue!! We're been fed chemicals!! Even our meat substitutes....THATS NOT EVEN MEAT!!!
    BUT...people buy it!!

I buy them every once in a while, and I look at the ingredients list and think about Thomas Delauer saying how bad it is for your health. I will not be buying them anymore because of this video. Thanks, Thomas, for bringing this important subject up.

So..."natural flavoring" is actually "artificial flavoring"?? Or, some natural flavors are artificially derived, and, therefore, "bad"? And we have to guess which those are based on the construction of the ingredient list? I'd tend to think a "natural flavor" would be a flavor derived from naturally-occurring substances without admixture of man-made substances. Thomas seems to be telling me otherwise, that, even if it's cited on the ingredients list as "natural flavor", it may include man-made substances, like an "artificial" flavoring does. This seems like a serious "standards of regulation" violation on the part of the FDA, who is usually very aggressive about proper word usage in marketing, especially the word, "natural". I'm wondering what the "#2 danger of natural flavors" might be...

    • @EA-ck4so

Then let those so-called good companies go ahead and list those natural flavors if they are actually sourced from natural flavors instead of just labeling it. The way I see it the words "natural flavors" are used to hide ingredients they dont want you to see. Just because something is natural does not mean its safe. For example, both cyanide and arsenic are natural but will kill you. I am obviously not saying that these two are in our foods but there are certain natural flavors that are chemicals and possibly not safe in the long-term. So let them cut the crap, and list every single natural flavor and let us make the decision.

They don't need to list "Natural flavors" Almost like they are hiding something, sorry they no different and I just avoid it altogether, anything healthy doesn't need to put natural flavors in their food if it's so clean as they claim it to be lol, I think anyone with a brain would know how chicken, apples, and corn taste like without the need of saying "natural flavors", Like we know it's natural flavors so why list the obvious ???💀💀💀
