It's incredible how your father is able to piece together a lot of what Miura-sensei intended to convey off a first read of _Berserk_ (not directed at the audience, but a LOT of people seem to miss out on a majority of the messages and foreshadowing until it gets brought up again later, sometimes even in entirely different sections of the story like the end of Fantasia arc, or until a reread of those prior chapters). I'm really interested to see how he reacts to the last of the direct Miura chapters, to see if he remembers all of what happens here at the end of Conviction.

To me this is where we see the start of Guts character development again. Guts is my favorite character in fiction, and it’s this arc that started to cement that for me. Can’t wait for you guys to keep getting further into the story. Thank you again for the great analysis.
One of my favorite things about Fantasy media in general is when an author takes something from real life and takes it to an exaggerated conclusion in order to illustate a point or theme, and with Pops sage advice here he touched on the one for Berserk: We (especially men) are all more like Guts than we may even feel comfortable admitting. We're all "strugglers" just trying to figure it out amidst the madness. Also with how he speaks of things now I can not wait for him to get further in to the story, a lot of both chilling and heart-warming things ahead.
6:25 It was because of self hatred that it took me so long. For seven years all I could do was bully and eviscerate myself. Every chance that came by I let slip through my fingers, every piece of advice given was seen as a threat. Every encounter was so hard to deal with. Every day at the end I would wait for myself so I could hurt myself again. “You’re a monster, you’re a freak, you’re unlovable. People don’t even like you. Advice? What advice? They don’t know, right? If they saw how much of a piece of junk you were, how much you fucked everything up, They’d retract their ‘advice’ and surely tell you you’re hopeless, and maybe you’d be better off six feet under” These thoughts are truly something horrifying. when I think about it now. I wonder, how did I do it? How did I allow myself to be so spiteful towards me? For so long…..

Interesting to see that he knows that choice is coming around the corner, the only question that will continue to plague Guts going into every single chapter... choose a final confrontation, potentially forsaking all he loves, in order to fight Griffith? Or choose love, and choose a more nuanced fight for what is most important, protecting all he holds dear. As a reader who's read SEVERAL times, the Eclipse tells us everything we need to know about what fuels the Godhand, and the power of the negative human psyche, especially the souls of so much damnation. But could there be a small behelit, a talisman maybe out there that might open up a new portal, letting in power to fueled by love? We've seen lots of evidence during the Eclipse that that's what ultimately gives the Godhand its power, and that it considers itself some kind of Dark God of negative human emotion. It's where I've always expected this story to ultimately lead, and I'm so excited to see good triumph over evil. It really would crush me if it's a tragedy and it was all for naught, but I'm unsure if even Miura himself would have been able to stomach such a pointless end to a miserable struggle. If I might be a bit prophetic in a comment section nobody reads, but I wanna see Guts confront Griffith to save Casca, not fueled by vengeance, but out of pure love, a love driving him to protect. And his own son, infused with a bit of the Astral, maybe even acting as a seed for this power? Sacrifice of course still must be made, but maybe one made out of love in this fashion might bring about something beautiful, maybe the gang work some serious magic in the Astral Plane in order to create a seedbed of good, of position human emotion. I certainly do think that their child may yet have a part to play as an architect of great change, especially if it comes to saving his mother. You can even see in quite later chapters that Griffith himself is being influenced by the strong emotional bond the Child has with his parents, to the point that Griffith is feeling emotion, which in his current physical form in the manga should probably be impossible, and the Child even to some extent has his own agency on full moons, when his power builds and he's able to cleave himself away from Griffith, albeit temporarily. TLDR; quote me on this, I know how Berserk ends lmao.
Love the visual aids. Would love to see Berserk themed ones. >:D I also agree with your assessment that Guts has always been part of two worlds. Being born of a corpse, while exceptionally morbid, also reads to me a lot like the kind of "mystical births" we see in mythological heroes.
Joni Mitchell once sang “don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got till it’s gone, they paved paradise, put up a parking lot” (Big Yellow Taxi)
I really don't want to spoil anything so I won't say anything other than I'm just glad to listen to your thoughts and opinions sir. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of this arc. And Crystal that Casca "Kawaii" bit was so funny, you're editing skills are evolving. xD
He was bent on revenge and why he left for 2 years. How we was able to kinda learn what he is dealing with with the apostles and found the behelit. He just realized he was going about it wrong. Tweaked his revenge plan.
I don't know if pops knows how screwed up Casca is right now. If you read Fantasia arc, you will know, but Casca is completely out for dinner right now and she doesn't even comprehend what's going on. As for Skull Knight, personally, I think he is helping them, because of some ambiguous plan he has. He is clearly scheming something and he knows he needs to prepare Guts for the end game, but what his plan is? Nobody knows. I don't think he is so goody-two-shoes that he helps them out of goodness of his heart (bones?). His primary goal is to get the Godhand and I'm afraid Guts and Casca are just means for that to happen. And finally, as some already mentioned, Guts is in his early 20s. He lived his whole life by the sword and now suddenly he has things and people he cares about and it just didn't really come to his mind to do anything about it, except swing that hunk of metal - because that was his answer to all problems. His friend completely destroyed his life and his love's life, killed all other friends and basically now Guts' hunted and haunted by undead. Who wouldn't break into spiralling madness hunting every single demon in your sight? PS. I can't wait for Farnese redemption arc to happen, so pops can start adore her :D
I wonder if he will go back and reflect on Guts’ leaving The Band of The Hawk now. I always felt he was too harsh on Guts for this, it was this sense of being lost with out a real sense of purpose that caused him to leave and set out to find his own way. And while I won’t condone him abandoning Casca as he did, him leaving that cave was a continuation of that - it was in part - Guts search for meaning in perhaps the only way he knew how. I’ve seen a lot of comments in recent videos about how affected your dad seems to be by the content of this arc and it does seem to be true. I hope he continues and pushes through this arc, because I think he’s really going to like what’s coming. It’s really fun to see both his accurate predictions and intuition as well as where he’s completely wrong. I really look forward to seeing how both these aspects play out in the future.
yeah, there's a lot more nuance that most people over look on the first read. he's got it part right by wanting a plan and a goal, but berserk also shows how blinding and dangerous goals are. regardless, the declaration of war against the apostles still was a plan, and leaving the band of the hawk was to. we cant expect more effort past that from guts when he's either blamed or hated for everything he does regardless though. i think the problem is people tend to listen a lot to the characters around guts without fully realizing the world guts inhabits, he's damned no matter what he does, and his curse cements that fact. when characters do teach him one thing, it ends up hurting him later. yet guts still tries, despite the fact that it takes almost everything just for him to survive. gramps needs to go easy on him.
So many people feel that post-golden age content just isnt as good, but I’ve gotta disagree. There are so many arcs I’m looking forward to! Pops may be interested to know just how long we were between chapters toward the end of Miura’s life. The dreaded “boat arc” lasted like a decade in real time, and a lot of people have a sour taste in their mouths just thinking of how long we were there 😂 I started shortly after Miura passed so I didnt have to experience the wait, but I can see how that would have been an exhausting arc to get through comparatively I mean no dishonor to Miura- I still enjoyed the arc! People were just eager for Berserk and chapters were very slowly trickling out
I get what you are saying but how can you continue your life if you are cursed and visited every night by evil spirits? I think his plan is kind of "Defeat Griffith and help Casca"
@@mistawh1te you are right Guts should think of settling with Casca and become a fisherman or something Maybe he would like to become a medieval baker If we go the PTSD route, he could think of making a cool shed in the woods and live there with his family

Your Berserk reactions are great. I hope that in the future you will react to One Outs and Kaiji animes as well. Rurouni Kenshin anime is great as well but appearently the author is really a bad person so I would understand if you would not want to watch it.
I dont think you give gut's enough credit. there is many moments in the story where guts is blamed, treated like a beast, and not given a chance to heal. and you dont seem to understand the problem with these assertions, given the context of what guts' world is actually like as a man outside of fate. for example, what Godo says is right in a general sense, and gives him a needed push. but highlights more how the characters tend to view guts. guts is a man looking in on everyones life from the outside, and when those people stop and regard guts actions, they rarely understand the brutality of guts' life and having to fight tooth and nail just to survive. no one even knows what happened to guts, they dont know what it's like to only be taught war. Godo hasn't even seen gut's son and what the godhand did, and can only speak on gut's unwillingness to accept sadness. but the reality is, like guts said, no matter how hard he tries, these things will follow him in the scars he bears, and even though he tries so hard to resist, you have to acknowledge that things will NEVER work out for guts. he is a sacrifice, being told since he was born, that he shouldnt even be alive. Guts was born from his mother's corpse, denied a second mother by the plague, denied a father, the man was surrounded by death even before the eclipse, almost anyone would have trouble living for anything other then survival when death is at your heel. at times, people like griffith have inspired him to find something to live for, so he leaves in search of it. but like every decision he makes, he is punished. punished by Casca's harsh words and later the eclipse, and the worst part is that he ultimately went through this, because he still came back to help casca and griffith. he's punished for caring about people and blamed for everything by everyone since Gambino. and yet you say guts needs a plan, well, he did have a plan, and after that, a goal to wage war on the apostles and griffith. say what you will about that, but as i've said, no one knows what its like to be guts, to have your life ripped away from you, for your girlfriend to not even recognize you, and to be punished for trying to change. so Guts responds in the only way he can. yet despite this, he STILL tries, and always comes back when he thinks his friends are in danger. Guts is amazing, and a hero. but it seems like you tend to formulate your opinion of guts based off what other characters say, with some of you're more egregious takes, like saying guts is dumb, lacks empathy, and assuming guts doesnt even know if he loves casca. Guts knows things, and he cares for many. his life denies him the chance for introspection, but he still listens and considers the words of others, even if it causes him pain. and even though he has had good people who have effected him positively, it has been through his own effort that he has began healing himself. you dont consider the bigger story, when you assume Guts can just fix these things, with plans, or evaluation, this ignores the times he's tried and suffered, and in fact, this point of view has been his and everyone's downfall from day one, Griffiths planning is what doomed everyone. all in all, this is just a response to your harshness towards guts that just doesnt seem to get much better as you go. i respect you as a reader, and just want you to understand guts better. and as you will see when you read more, guts just needs to be healed, cause under everything, he's just a wounded man trying to make his way in the world, sadly it probably wont be enough to save guts from his life, but it can bring him some peace.

Will you allow unc to unleash and read more chunks at a time
Let’s just say, Exciting news coming for DV 7!
So many people feel that post-golden age content just isnt as good, but I’ve gotta disagree. There are so many arcs I’m looking forward to!
Pops may be interested to know just how long we were between chapters toward the end of Miura’s life. The dreaded “boat arc” lasted like a decade in real time, and a lot of people have a sour taste in their mouths just thinking of how long we were there 😂 I started shortly after Miura passed so I didnt have to experience the wait, but I can see how that would have been an exhausting arc to get through comparatively
I mean no dishonor to Miura- I still enjoyed the arc! People were just eager for Berserk and chapters were very slowly trickling out
I have no specific goal or purpose in life, I am tired, I just want to live easily
Hope gramps ready for the surprises😅 i love you gramps
I want to know what he thinks about the Berserk Holy Book saying "the Hawk of Light drapped in darkness and the Hawk of Darkness shrouded in Light".
I get what you are saying but how can you continue your life if you are cursed and visited every night by evil spirits? I think his plan is kind of "Defeat Griffith and help Casca"
it’s more of an overall plan, like yeah that’s the immediate goal but what about afterwards? something you would like your life to cumulate to?
@@mistawh1te you are right
Guts should think of settling with Casca and become a fisherman or something
Maybe he would like to become a medieval baker
If we go the PTSD route, he could think of making a cool shed in the woods and live there with his family
@@CaroleanMonarch honestly i thought it would be cool if he basically became a blacksmith like Godot (idk if spelled right)
Just wanted to let you know, I only ever watch these videos on the big screen TV. Each video is an event.
Really that is so cool! I’m so glad you told me that 😭 truly changes my perspective on just how amazing our community is, all glory be to God, but I am so so so grateful for each and every person that watches our content and whenever I see comments like this I feel blessed beyond measure! So thank you🙏🏼

@@devsterroc8487 thank you 🥹💗
Your Berserk reactions are great. I hope that in the future you will react to One Outs and Kaiji animes as well. Rurouni Kenshin anime is great as well but appearently the author is really a bad person so I would understand if you would not want to watch it.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
Do they know of Miura-san's death?
The daughter does
its not even a spoiler.
@@letrosti6291Kinda, you get spoiled that the serie won’t end
Read Oyasumi PunPun next
