- Practicing wheelies on a Sunday morning with my FJR 1300AE. Before you comment on how much I suck at wheelies keep these things in mind. This bike is flawless. I have a LARGE deductable on my insurance. FJR`s have wide ratio transmissions, and it is an AE model (meaning it has no clutch lever.) And most important I`m an old man.
Just run it up to 4,000 RPM's in first gear then snap the throttle wide open and the front end is gonna come up, unless your back tire is cold or bald. Also practice with a lower rear tire pressure, it makes a huge difference in predictability. Try around 15-20 PSI. Just don't ride around at that pressure at high speed as it would be un-safe. Also adjust the spring pre-loads on your front forks as stiff as the go while you practice. It MAY save your fork seals on those harsh landings.
Well done, Respect ! 👍👍👍🤗
Nice, smooth..
Haven't tried one yet on my new fjr, save it for my xr...
not too bad... too bad you have to chop the throttle though being an AE....much smoother using the clutch. Sure would be nice having that pushbutton shifting to get into 2nd gear though! Keep up the good work
Jesus man, wet road????

Hey mate whats the technique for wheelieing this? Im struggling with my AE
Find that peak torrent rpm. Snap it and hold on!
What's ae
I believe that means automatic transmission? Or maybe traction control? Good question.
2 years after you wanted to know: Auto transmission version of the FJR1300 :)
It means auto clutch. There is no clutch handle on the bike. Still a 5 speed trans. If you stop in 3rd gear the computer controlled clutch will slip it to get you going in. (Not recommended) rider still has full control over what gear bike is in. And the bike has excellent engine braking when downshifting. If you have it in first gear it will stay in first gear. Only controls the clutch . Snap through the gears up and down with the left foot or with the left finger.
