Ghost Rrider - Uppsala Run - DESHAKED

  • The famous Uppsala run. I deshaked that video in 2007, so I thought: Why not uploading it here? Average speed of that run: 273 km/h.
    The original Video is SHAKY as HELL. Look at 0:17 as example: In the original video the numbers are stable, and the video around the numbers is shaking. Same goes for 1:16 where the back-view window in the upper right is stable in the original video, but the rest of the video is shaky and so on.

    what i love about the original ghost rider is he is obviously trying to make it to his destination alive, he doesn't just blindly cut and swerve between cars like a lot of the wannabes and psychos do. this isnt safe by any means but this riding looks borderline responsible compared to some of the videos out these days (often ending in them hitting the back of a truck or a median)

      Can happen in Germany, though 300 km/h is rare here. But 220 km/h + can happen quite often here, and I do drive that speed sometimes when driving one of the better company cars. When you see a car in the rear mirror and you are not from Germany, i.e. used to estimate such speeds by looking into the rear mirror, it looks "far away" and "right on your tail" within a blink of your eye.
      Though not that often any more since the amount of cars has gone up so rapidly in the last 25 years... 5x is my estimate. So nowadays it is rare to go beyond 200 since there are so many cars - it moved danger margin for reaction time a lot.

      Well, the source of this is DVD, so the source picture has a good quality. The ususal youtube source in such a small resolution doesn't have good quality, making it more difficult or impossible to deshake.
      I deshake older movies which are on blu-ray- There are often those tiny shakes by a half and two pixels due to the way analogue movies work. Andromeda Strain (the original www.imdb.com/title/tt0066769 ) and The Name Of The Rose (Again the original www.imdb.com/title/tt0091605 ) are the last deshaked examples - which I cannot publish anywhere for obvious reasons ; ).

      Why do you always used Suzukis in the films?
      "In the early days it just so happens that I had the K1 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and we were using what we had available to us. In later movies we continued using GSX-R1000’s more as a security measure than anything else. We’ve only ever had one breakdown over the years whilst using Suzuki bikes, they are built like tanks, especially the engines. No one could race between Stockholm and Upsala on a Yamaha R1 and expect it to stay in one piece. We used an R1 back in 2004 that was given to us by Yamaha Europe and it broke down within a couple of weeks. They just can’t handle things like a 5km wheelie because you’ll get oil pressure issues, the GSX-R can take that without a problem."

    Well, a "classic" of the early Internet... As much as the driver is talented (pretty much as crazy as he is), the thing is: you never see how many accidents are caused behind him by other drivers shocked by his risky overtaking maneuvers and thus provoked into rash reactions.

    Why keep adding the shaking video box over and over? Just a distraction...

    • @JouMxyzptlk
      @JouMxyzptlk  6 років тому +5

      I didn't add it. The "shaking videobox" are not saking in the original, but deshaking to the bike and the street is stable means the box will have to suffer.
      I could do a partial deshake to keep the boxes stable, but that is so much work..

He has an updated version of his old gear and a bunch of GoPro equipment. He's pretty old now, though, so many of his OG fans are worried. We kinda wish he'd just Motovlog or something, lol.

    • @JouMxyzptlk
      @JouMxyzptlk  3 роки тому +4

      You could, in Germany. Legally. During the first lockdown the Autobahns were quite empty. A drive from my home to Frankfurt usually took about 2h45m, and with bad luck much longer. I made the same in 2h10m with 160 km/h max (I don't like to drive much faster with the car I usually drive). I was at 1h50 with a car that goes beyond 200 km/h.
      Tough I have to note: Not ignoring the speed limit parts on that drive, I want to keep my drivers license.
      If you ignore all speed limits it would have been doable in less than an hour.
      As for now: Well no way, too much traffic.
